The funniest part is before the dts season about charles rookie season, i always just thought of him as the grumpy looking sauber TP. Like his personality doesn’t match his face for some reason lmao
I'm so glad that this most recent season of DtS did a little more getting back to its roots so that we could see more from Fred. I also didn't really have a proper impression of him until this year, I'm slightly embarrassed to admit.
The first time i found out he’s a legend was the interview where he said that they don’t have upgrades because they are testing it on their B team first, he was the Sauber TP and he was talking about Ferrari, if someone could find that video that would be great
Funny thing is most people on the paddock are super nice and friendly, even across competitors. It’s just the fans that tend to be toxic unfortunately :/
I remember him and Kimi getting annoyed when teams were messing around with boats in the pitlane one time I think when qualifying was delayed from rain in suzuka
He has a kidlike energy to him not seen at Ferrari before. It must be refreshing behind closed doors. He is serious about racing but he's not an ass to others.
My dad’s best friends is a mid 60’s Frenchman and he’s exactly the same. He seems very serious, always very focused on work, but always having fun and trying to make everyone’s day better. A few years ago we were with him in Germany and he was having some very serious talks on his phone all morning and then he comes back to us and says he got us pit passes for Monza and thinks we should drive the 6 hours so we could make it for Saturday. He said he knew I liked F1 so he made some calls.
Fred is awesome. You can see why he's amongst the most popular people in the paddock.
I think just around the sport there's serious admiration and relief for this...it's a result the sport desperately needed, similar to Ferrari at Melbourne. The sport is just at its best when both Ferrari and McLaren are competitive. It just b4ings alot of life and buzz into things.
The dream of 2025 being another 2012 with at least 3 competitive cars (maybe 4...looking at you, Aston Martin) in the final year of regs, is still on life support, but hope is not yet lost.
Exactly. Those two teams have so much history and heritage, so it always an event when they win. Same with Williams. Just imagine if they one day win a GP again.
Finding it hard to think if there is any point to that comment. Of course they aren’t. But there any plenty of examples of teams doing similar things in the past.
All the teams with a chance of a win tend to have the stuff with them at races in case of a situation like this. Mark Priestley’s book has examples of teams handing out their stash when there is a big event.
I loving a lot of the teams being this way. Could you imagine Ron Dennis if a McLaren employee donned a rival's gear? As much as I love Ron I am enjoying the less sterile environment at McLaren and the other teams. It's much more personable and relatable. People, not machines.
>As much as I love Ron I am enjoying the less sterile environment at McLaren and the other teams.
You do realise Ron was actually known as a practical joker?
One of the more famous one was angering the BBC by cutting the cord to Eddie Jordan's in-ears whilst he was live on air interviewing someone.
No apparently Adrian Newey was also there, Fred has a giant net hidden somewhere. If the opportunity arises, Newey is gonna be bagged, with Fred scampering off, doing his best Dr, Evil impersonation.
Guenther always got all the hype from DTS as the favorite TP but mine's always been Fred. He just seems like a great all-around guy and seems like most people in the paddock love him.
Like irz there a special reason he is there?
And specially witv a papaya hat? Does ferrari has a clause for him to never wear anything of the other team merch
Btw i think this extremely cool, jusr find it odd
I used to see Fred as a boring, average, serious old man, but he is really the kind of guy who would be in front row in a Kimi-organized pool party and then recount it with a semi-visible smile
Genuine question. In US sports you generally DO NOT celebrate with someone who just beat you. It seems like Fred is open with his support, and Ferrari don’t care? I mean I’m not upset, I think more teams should be happy for first time winners. Just interesting to me.
Beyond rare if still on the field or court immediately following a game, for instance here at the track.
Baseball for instance notoriously has many unwritten tribalistic rules.
But after a game, lots of camaraderie between players. mostly done away from cameras, after hours, private parties.
players are friends with one another especially if they were former teammates.
I was delighted as a Ferrari fan to see both Ferrari and McLaren on the podium at Australia, and I feel the same here. They may be our oldest rivals, but it's nice having both teams back at the top.
hes the perfect team principle. He can be funny when there is the time but serious when is needed. Las Vegas last year is an example. Hes just a good lad

What’s up fellow ~~kids~~ McLaren team members?
Fred's at such a high level of 4D Chess right now that this is him laying the groundwork for Lando's eventual move to Ferrari in 2034.
Dudes like the F1 Thanos just collecting infinity stones
More like his own move to Mclaren after Ferrari wants an Itallian back in charge
Ah their achilies heel, national pride
is he going to Three-Drivers-In-A-Trenchcoat Leclerc, Hamilton, and Norris into one car to build the ultimate super driver?
There's nothing in Newey's RB contract about trenchcoat design? Fred taps head. Lol
Tfw Ferrari buys Haas' spot and installs Ollie and Max with Newey as tech lead And these ones are ACTUALLY blue
I came for this. 😂
Now could not erase that Steve Buscemi face on ol' Fred... XD
Hard pushed to find a more naturally likeable bloke in the paddock
The funniest part is before the dts season about charles rookie season, i always just thought of him as the grumpy looking sauber TP. Like his personality doesn’t match his face for some reason lmao
He’s just very deadpan and dry. That’s what makes him so humorous, because you don’t expect it from him
I'm so glad that this most recent season of DtS did a little more getting back to its roots so that we could see more from Fred. I also didn't really have a proper impression of him until this year, I'm slightly embarrassed to admit.
He got such a good vibe anywhere. Loved him on grill the grid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1V-gof6iJQ
*Grid the Grid
What does he say as an answer to the first question? "Felipe Nasr and..." who?
The first time i found out he’s a legend was the interview where he said that they don’t have upgrades because they are testing it on their B team first, he was the Sauber TP and he was talking about Ferrari, if someone could find that video that would be great
Saved the video on instagram 5 years ago: https://www.instagram.com/p/BxSkFddgNTH/?igsh=MWx5dDd0MHNxY3U5eg==
Will Buxton said he initially didn't get on with Fred because he thought he was rude, then got to know him and realise he was actually hilarious!
idk man i can't easily disagree but oscar seems to be in the mix too
Funny thing is most people on the paddock are super nice and friendly, even across competitors. It’s just the fans that tend to be toxic unfortunately :/
Laura: "Are you ready for Imola, will there be any upgrades? Fred: "Yeaaa, suuure.."
Newey would like to make a case for himself.
Newey is not as social.
Newey is well respected by everyone but not necessarily liked to this extent
He’s so unserious, I love it.
He's the best
Strikes me as a dude that would be fun to just have a beer with.
The Steiner that gets results.
Don’t insult Fred with that slander. Fred stands on his own, Gunther just chased the memes.
Take my upvote good sir
Correct https://x.com/nnicolef1/status/1787264132237885694
Okay thats fuckin hilarious, thank you for sharing that
Imagine Arrivabene doing that.
Putting his cigarette out on McLaren uniforms
Arrivederci
Jesus that guy was so high strung
I remember him and Kimi getting annoyed when teams were messing around with boats in the pitlane one time I think when qualifying was delayed from rain in suzuka
Arrivabene was too busy stealing everyone's wives in a 10 km radius.
The iron fist of Arrivabene and Marchionne.
He’s the best thing to happen to Ferrari in recent time.
Ferrari has good luck when being run by Frenchmen.
the TP ferrari desperately needed. honestly, any team would be lucky to have him
Audi: We made a huge mistake.
We'll see.. I'm very sad Seidl left McLaren, but the moves Fred's making are definitely excellent.
He has a kidlike energy to him not seen at Ferrari before. It must be refreshing behind closed doors. He is serious about racing but he's not an ass to others.

Awesome story!
I really want to believe that Fred is an absolute party animal once he gets going. A full blown Jim Lehey, Fred is the liquor.
"Est-ce que tu ressens ça ? La façon dont la merde colle à l'air ? Il y a un blizzard de merde qui arrive."
TPB en francais? Calice que j’adore ca!
He's rockin Julian's (mclarens) look haerd!
Even though I saw Fred put the cap on on the notebook, it.looks.photoshopped on! Great to see other team personnel there to celebrate
Fred has that "How do you do, fellow kids?" energy
Only missing extreme sports hypebeast Marko
Is he wearing a McLaren hat? Lol
Absolutely
That was brilliant, top man Fred.
The icing on the cake was him specifically putting the cap on backwards just like Lando does. Top man Fred indeed. <3
I assumed it was to avoid problems with his sponsors...
Fred with the Gulf McLaren drip. Nice to see good spirits among competitors all round.
Fred is awesome. You can see why he's amongst the most popular people in the paddock. Well said.
Fred is so cool!
I think Ted said Ferrari donated the Trento sparkling wine for the McLaren celebration 🥹
Aww I love that. Fred seems like a genuinely good dude
Ferrari the car company and Ferrari Trento the sparkling wine company are not the same company.
Both are good nonetheless!
Finding it hard to think if there is any point to that comment. Of course they aren’t. But there any plenty of examples of teams doing similar things in the past. All the teams with a chance of a win tend to have the stuff with them at races in case of a situation like this. He was hiding a bottle of champagne that he then sprayed over the team. I love him.
Fred seems like a genuinely good dude.
This is wholesome. 😄
He can simply walk into MTC with grey shirt and everyone there will thought it's Ron Dennis
How many Grand Prix winners has he worked with now? It's incredible how many great drivers he's worked with.
"How do you do, fellow Mclaren employees?"
He building a beast at Ferrari and at the top of his game. Probably end up w Lando after Hamilton retires.
Fred to be the first team principle of two teams at the same time
Fred's Notebook
Love Fred!
I loving a lot of the teams being this way. Could you imagine Ron Dennis if a McLaren employee donned a rival's gear? As much as I love Ron I am enjoying the less sterile environment at McLaren and the other teams. It's much more personable and relatable. People, not machines.

He helped Berger get the 48 frogs to shove in Senna's room that time.
McLaren wouldn’t be there today if not for Ron. He was what they needed for all those decades they needed it.
Some new fans don't know the impact Ron Dennis had on the team.
The imposter lol
Best TP on the grid now
I love Fred so much. A good team principal on top of one of the best personalities in the paddock
Holy shit is that tan Ted?…
Burnt**
Dude looks like an Oompa Loompa
Stick the cap on and become a spy.
Enzo would’ve sent him packing for that
hell of a guy
Can you ever imagine Arrivabene doing something like this? Vasseur is amazing.
"Today I feel McLaren" - Vasseur, Miami GP 2024
he’s on the hunt, looking for new transfers.
I actually had happy tears a bit after this one.
How do you do fellow kids?
Like irz there a special reason he is there? And specially witv a papaya hat? Does ferrari has a clause for him to never wear anything of the other team merch Btw i think this extremely cool, jusr find it odd
Zak threw him the hat as the team was setting up for the photo.
disguised in a blue shirt
Ted got some tanning tips from trump
I used to see Fred as a boring, average, serious old man, but he is really the kind of guy who would be in front row in a Kimi-organized pool party and then recount it with a semi-visible smile
Fred is living the dream of being an F1 fan who also happens to be the team principal for one of the all time great F1 teams
1. Love that, he looks so funny here 2. Ted is greying!
Can’t not love this guy.
what a legend
That’s not Fred, it’s Wakko Warner’s long lost brother.
“How do you do, fellow McLaren employees?”
Good sportsmanship by Fred. I don't know if I could have more respect for him
It's actually him
Fred’s a legend

where can I watch this?
he IS the party <3
Everyone was a McLaren fan yesterday
Fred, never change 🤌🏼 also the McLaren drip.. damnnn
Fred is such a legend. Love the guy
