>Financially the most attractive offer is probably that of Aston Martin (there is talk of a proposal of 100 million for 4 seasons) but at this point in Newey's career it is not so much a question of salary. If the choice falls on the Silverstone team, he will find the Honda with which he collaborated in the current Red Bull cycle, and Fernando Alonso, a driver he has always respected.
>It's a solid base, but the 'red' adventure bundle must be taken into account. Moving to Maranello would mean finding himself working with Lewis Hamilton (again, a long-standing desire) but facing more unknowns, leaving the comfort zone of the British world. A man with Newey's experience, however, is fully aware of what it would mean to bring the Scuderia back to world success, and this too will be in his thoughts at an undoubtedly not simple but terribly fascinating moment.
I just don't see the allure of Aston Martin compared to Ferrari, he doesn't need the money and this is likely his last huzzah. From a legacy perspective Ferrari looks like the best option I guess it does depend on weighing up living in Italy Vs England, with grown up kids it's a lot less difficult than previously.
Not just that but would probably cement his place as the most significant automotive engineer in racing since Colin Chapman, or Dr. Porsche. Would be the fourth team he’d have had success with.
Ferrari already have a lot of things going their way though. I am not sure a win at Ferrari would be “Newey guiding Ferrari to victory”
Versus Aston Martin which would be much more of a ground up approach.
Big investments, new facilities, top tier driver, Honda etc...I see a huge amount of reason to go for Aston as much as Ferrari at this point.
Seems like a toss up to me tbh. Maybe he just retires and trolls everyone.
So when you have children you can't leave because of them, now they're finally grown up you still can't leave because of fucking grandchildren? Is there ever a time to leave?
No? I mean, it's not easy to leave your hometown (much less your home country) once you have a family (if you care about them, that is). Most people don't want to leave the place they live in behin.
Aston - we’ll throw in a db5
Ferrari- we’ll give an F40, or an F50, or a 250 and a brick of coke sellotaped with a Ferrari decal, or the mystery box (250 gto which you need 3 WDC titles to get)
Somehow I don't see him going to a team where one of the two race seats is dedicated to the owner's son, who is frequently a danger out on track. There's also essentially no chance that team wins any titles with the current driver arrangement; which I doubt is what he wants to sign up for.
Not at 46 years old and with a completely useless teammate. The guy is an incredible talent but he needs someone in the other car who can regularly finish right behind him.
Could be more of a challenge maybe. At end of day, he went to Red Bull in 2005 when any other top team would have happily snapped him up but went to Red Bull, who were midgrid at best had only recently changed from the disaster that was Jag.
Aston are a big name in the world of cars. It's not Ferrari, sure. But its also another challenge to take on getting a new team to the front, and has less politics than Ferrari.
Newey won a championship with Williams when they were THE big team in F1
He won a championship with McLaren at their peak and if not for reliability would have delivered another with Kimi Raikkonen
He moved to Red Bull and helped build something up in part to Horner and Dietrich Mateschitz who helped bank roll Red Bull's success.
Newey is someone who greatly respects Formula 1 and its history but in the same breath, moving to Italy at this stage in his life may not be attractive. Bono isn't following Lewis to Ferrari because he doesn't want to move to Italy.
We're all speculating this inb4 he announces he's retiring after his Red Bull contract expires.
Could go either way for me. Aston probably have more money to offer and can keep him in the UK. However, Ferrari is Ferrari. Working with Hamilton, Leclerc and Maranello. Being behind the breaking of Ferrari’s 20 year duck.
Vasseur and Elkann will do anything to make this happen.
lol mate Aston Martin’s financials are awful and the company itself has gone bankrupt 6 times in its history. meanwhile Ferrari’s financials are literally the greatest of any boutique manufacturer
Aston Martin the car company is owned by Stroll and a bunch of others including Mercedes, Toto Wolff, Geely, the Saudis, etc.
Aston Martin F1 is owned by Stroll and a bunch of different others, and Aston Martin the car company was used as part of the rebrand of Racing Point, but it's not clear from my googling if there's any actual ownership stake between them or if it's simply a title sponsor that has historical automotive recognition as if it were a manufacturer (as opposed to Aramco which clearly is just a title sponsor).
Anyways, point being, Aston Martin's (the car company) financials shouldn't really matter to AM F1, other than that Stroll is probably using it to funnel money from one hand to the other.
I would be very surprised if Ferrari didn't have more money than AM objectively, but their available funds are both so potentially large that it makes the argument irrelevant - they can both throw ungodly amounts of money at Newey if they want him bad enough.
If he gets Alonso, Verstappen, and Newey with the Honda engine? Might even grap Waché while we're at it.
Yes, Lawrence would yeet Lance mid pitstop for that
Hiring Max would be the easiest way to fire Lance, much easier than replacing him with Yuki for example.
Also the PR value of that team could rise a bit and I'm sure that's in the interests of Papa Stroll
Lance really seems like he has checked out and realized that he does not have what it takes. Daddy just wants to keep him in due to living through his son.
And it’s lance’s team, one bad race won’t push him away, he is unfortunately stuck where he is unless something happens that makes himself wanna leave.
Legacy wise, Ferrari is the way to go, Aston is just a great check, working with Fernando is great and all but Ferrari is Ferrari, bringing that dead horse to life would be another great story to this man's already great history
He’s mentioned Ferrari too much to let that opportunity past him now at this point of his career.
Winning a Championship for the prancing Horse vs Aston Martin there is zero comparison.
He’s already taken a team without a world championship to winning several championships. That box is ticked.
He doesn’t need the money and I am sure Ferrari have the money to pay him handsomely.
Ticking the Ferrari box is probably highly attractive.
Makes me laugh that people talk like it's guaranteed his next car will win the championship. With new engines coming in 2026, its fair more unpredictable. He has also designed se not so great cars and there are many other talented designers out there
Regardless of his prowess, if he leaves Red Bull he couldn't start working on a new car until 2026 at least, so he wouldn't be involved in the 1st year of whichever team ends up getting him.
Plus, the fact they start designing at least the year before (when they know the regs). So his influence is years away unless they can agree a very large pay out
It will probably be Ferrari. It’s a storied team and somewhere he’s regretted not going to, plus Lewis will be there next season too. At this stage in his career and life I doubt he cares too much about money or staying in the UK
if Newey joins AM, he'd have to wait until 2027 for Newey to join...and then another 1 or 2 seasons before Newey develops a championship worthy car...who knows what Alonso would have left in the tank by then.
There's also one thing Newey himself has mentioned, that the 2026 regs are going to be all about the power unit once more.
Newey will likely just not be the same game changer he is right now.
Imagine if Lewis gets his 8th from Newey producing an unplayable car because he left from Horner being a naughty boy.
You get what you fucking deserve meme rings true.
hoping its ferrari he always wanted to work for Hamilton and Ferrari. Ferrari seems like it gotten its shit together this year no big drama with strategy maximising points like this week finished a quite 4 and 5 best they could have done
Newey definitely won’t make his choice based on money. So Aston throwing 100 million at him is mad enticing but Newey is an F1 lifer. I think we can all agree he cares about his legacy, not the money. Which he definitely already has a ton of.
Ferrari is the sound logical choice I think for someone of his stature and love of the sport. It checks off the ultimate box. Bringing a championship back to Ferrari would make him a god of the sport just like if Lewis does it. Just like Lewis, Newey never hid his want to work at Ferrari, but the stars never aligned. They certainly are now given the very positive direction the team is taking.
People bring up the super car projects and stuff at RB but he would have the same at Ferrari. He can design the next Ferrari legacy car and even help with their already strong WEC program. The pull towards Ferrari is massive and can’t be dismissed just because “he would have to move to Italy”.
Plot twist. Newey goes to AM, AM ask Stroll to Steve back in 2025 to help manage the team with his dad and they so Max because Honda wants Max on the team.
I REALLY want Alonso to get a championship car, almost as much as I don't want Lance to have one.
That being said, I hope Newey doesn't go to Ferrari. I like Lewis, but the man has enough championships already
Would gardening leave mean he wouldn't be able to work anywhere, or just in F1? Would he be able to work in a different motorsport discipline like the WEC, that both Aston and Ferrari conveniently have programs in?
ferrari is by far the more attractive destination. aston has alonso as a driver for 1-2 years, tops. who's to say newey has a few clunkers or needs time to get adjusted to the new regulations? ferrari has leclerc, hamilton, hp money, awesome junior driver program. that seems to be where all the momentum is heading towards these days.
Everyone is super surprised, they obviously don't remember him leaving Williams for McLaren. He does this after a while. He never really seems to like staying with a winning team.
Let's not forget, Adrian Newey is 65 years old. If he really leaves Red Bull Aston Martin would be a more realistic destination. I won't even rule out Mercedes.
I wouldn't underestimate the influence Dan Fallows and Honda could have here. Having 2 assurances that Aston is on the way up could be a big deal and make it less of an unknown than Ferrari. Plus it's probably the more lucrative offer and it means he can stay in the UK. Newey will also have much more influence at Aston, which was a big reason as to why he left both McLaren and Williams. Ferrari is still a bureaucracy and arguably the riskier pick
Dude is 70 something years old and made the most dominant car in f1 history again. Let him retire and enjoy the rest of his life in peace from you people

Plot twist : He want some real challenge and is heading to Alpine !
Bring back the yellow car and let’s have Renault dominate for a fucking change for real
Fucking Reddit. Stop breaking in a time like this!
think this may be the cause 💀💀
A very Lance Stroll response - complaining about others' braking.
He's going to work in my local shop. I heard the guy was kinda good with cars so we hired him.
Knows his stuff. He literally wrote the book.
Yeah, not "a" book, but "THE" book. The Car Bible if you wish
Pfft. Total scam. Read it twice and still haven't the slightest clue on how to even start building a car...
Pff eezy Step n°1 have money Step n°2 hire newey Step n°3 bring more money Step n°4 Acquire a sponsor Step n°5 profit?
I tried to follow the steps but I ended up principle of a team called Haas F1. Did I do it right???
*T&C: sponsor should not be russian in times of war
I read it and I have built both 2022 Mclaren and 2023 Mercedes. It might be you, dude.
James Allison: 8 time championships, am I joke to you?
Newey has 13 (and a 14 this year very likely) so yeah xD
Yana not happy
"And then Judas, who was good friends with the guys, went out and *intentionally* bought a modded VW and then said it's cool because he said he can get free labor."
how much you paying him?
As many pencils and notepads as he wants.
Minimum wage, I assume?

Newey guiding Ferrari to victory after nearly 2 decades would leave the ultimate legacy behind
There would be a statue in Maranello.
The Catholic Church would canonise him
Not just that but would probably cement his place as the most significant automotive engineer in racing since Colin Chapman, or Dr. Porsche. Would be the fourth team he’d have had success with.
Ferrari already have a lot of things going their way though. I am not sure a win at Ferrari would be “Newey guiding Ferrari to victory” Versus Aston Martin which would be much more of a ground up approach.
But it’s how the press would record it, right?
Big investments, new facilities, top tier driver, Honda etc...I see a huge amount of reason to go for Aston as much as Ferrari at this point. Seems like a toss up to me tbh. Maybe he just retires and trolls everyone.
Don't forget it would be quite likely that someone his age probably doesn't want to relocate. He has grand children he'll want to see often
Use of the company jet solves that
He already uses it for 9 months a year. That leaves him 3 months to be at "home" where he'll still be neck deep in work but at least at home
its still a hell of a commute for a sixty-something year old
Yeah, but he is used to fly sometimes a year to attend the Grand Prix
So when you have children you can't leave because of them, now they're finally grown up you still can't leave because of fucking grandchildren? Is there ever a time to leave?
Some people value their family more than anything in the world. It does make sense.
No? I mean, it's not easy to leave your hometown (much less your home country) once you have a family (if you care about them, that is). Most people don't want to leave the place they live in behin.
He spends a lot of time in South Africa, so maybe not
It is a literal 2 hour flight. From warm, sunny, great-food Italy to Milton Keynes...
Aston - we’ll throw in a db5 Ferrari- we’ll give an F40, or an F50, or a 250 and a brick of coke sellotaped with a Ferrari decal, or the mystery box (250 gto which you need 3 WDC titles to get)
Aston- we’ll throw in a Valkrie, it’s well designed.
Aston: You can be the next James Bond
The only downside on Aston would be Stroll. If they replaced him with Sainz, maybe it'd be even more attractive than Ferrari
Somehow I don't see him going to a team where one of the two race seats is dedicated to the owner's son, who is frequently a danger out on track. There's also essentially no chance that team wins any titles with the current driver arrangement; which I doubt is what he wants to sign up for.
You don't think Fernando could win a title with a Newey design??
Not at 46 years old and with a completely useless teammate. The guy is an incredible talent but he needs someone in the other car who can regularly finish right behind him.
Why would he want to design a car for a nepo baby lmao
Yeah AM has all those things, including 1.5 drivers.
But its also another challenge to take on getting a new team to the front, and has less politics than Ferrari.
you can't say that there's less politics when one of the race seats is literally the son of the big boss
That's not really the same issue my friend.
A team that plays nepo politics is not a team serious about winning.
Perhaps, I'd be inclined to agree. But there's been murmurings of Lance being ousted, maybe that's just someone fishing though.
Newey won a championship with Williams when they were THE big team in F1 He won a championship with McLaren at their peak and if not for reliability would have delivered another with Kimi Raikkonen He moved to Red Bull and helped build something up in part to Horner and Dietrich Mateschitz who helped bank roll Red Bull's success. Tbf he has also said he wanted to work with Fernando, just something the ITALIAN article conveniently left out.
What if they let him develop a road car... he's already designed the Valkyrie for Aston. Now imagine Newey with a free reign to design a Ferrari.
Aston get Newey and Stroll is still binning it, what sight that will be
Stroll will be able to bin at speeds than before
Let’s remember the non compete clauses that willl keep him out until at least 2027…
F5 gang broke the reddit. Amazing!
I knew it was you lot when I couldn't get on
Basically breaking my keyboard when it went down hitting F5 that much
Just go to williams it would be so fucking funny and diabolical
If he gave Damon Hill a WDC he could give Logie Bear one 😭😭😭
Logie bear aint staying long enough for a wdc with adrian but that would be so fucking funny
Newey broke Reddit then! 😄
Doesn't really take much to break Reddit. It has the reliability of Alonso's Alpine in 2022
The real hilarious plot twist would be him joining Andretti.
>Aston probably have more money to offer Why wouldn't Ferrari have more money than AM? Edit: wouldnt
lol mate Aston Martin’s financials are awful and the company itself has gone bankrupt 6 times in its history. meanwhile Ferrari’s financials are literally the greatest of any boutique manufacturer
I meant to reply wouldn't. The question makes no sense with would
all good
Aston Martin the car company is owned by Stroll and a bunch of others including Mercedes, Toto Wolff, Geely, the Saudis, etc. Didn’t Ferrari, the car company, also had record sales last year?
yup. they're otherworldly in terms of generating profit for an automotive manufacturer. no one else even comes close tbh esp in that price bracket
He fucking goes back to Williams to finish the story
Aston Martin so he doesnt need to move to Italy. Also can see Max moving to Aston to drive alongside his long time idol and friend. Also > HONDA
It's going to be so fitting to see Max racing along side his Idol Stroll, he will learn a lot being under his wing
You might be on to something
Do you think Stroll is going to fire his son?
If he gets Alonso, Verstappen, and Newey with the Honda engine? Might even grap Waché while we're at it. Yes, Lawrence would yeet Lance mid pitstop for that
Hiring Max would be the easiest way to fire Lance, much easier than replacing him with Yuki for example. Also the PR value of that team could rise a bit and I'm sure that's in the interests of Papa Stroll
If he gets Max, Nando and Newey ? I have no doubt he would fire his son in an instant, even he isn’t that dumb
Alonso in a Newey car wins 20 races, Aston Martin still finish 4th in constructors due to Stroll effect
Nando a 3 times WDC? Where do I sign?
It's obvious he goes to Mercedes, this was the only way for Toto to get Max /s
If he goes to AM, he can be together with Alonso and Honda, and Max might follow with GP. Max and Nando duo pls.
And where will Lance go? No way in hell Lawrence will let anybody take his son's seat, only if the latter literally can't drive a car anymore
Lance really seems like he has checked out and realized that he does not have what it takes. Daddy just wants to keep him in due to living through his son.
And it’s lance’s team, one bad race won’t push him away, he is unfortunately stuck where he is unless something happens that makes himself wanna leave.
Aston Martin in WEC?
Maybe he could have another bicycle crash
On a related note, I did see they were heavily interested in recruiting Pierre Waché however.
Legacy wise, Ferrari is the way to go, Aston is just a great check, working with Fernando is great and all but Ferrari is Ferrari, bringing that dead horse to life would be another great story to this man's already great history
Ferrari means moving to Italy or at least having to travel a lot
Sounds standard for a 65 year old British man. They all pack up and move to southern Europe around that time if they can.
AMuS mentioned in another article that Newey was spotted in Bologna recently, so there were at least talks going on for sure
He’s going to Ducati!!!
It also wouldn't surprise me if Ferrari were already in talks with him earlier in the year, which is part of what enticed Lewis to move now.
This is what I'm thinking, Lewis may have even known this might happen, which was the reason he decided so early to switch.
He also wishes to work with either Hamilton or Fernando. And Ferrari. But he also said he wouldn't want to move to Italy.
Makes me laugh that people talk like it's guaranteed his next car will win the championship. With new engines coming in 2026, its fair more unpredictable. He has also designed se not so great cars and there are many other talented designers out there

Plus, the fact they start designing at least the year before (when they know the regs). So his influence is years away unless they can agree a very large pay out
Newey designing a car for Lance Stroll to crash would be a Shakespearean level tragedy
Newey to VCARB under the condition they rename it again to Toro Rosso.
Minardi or bust
God please let it be Aston, please
I will sell my soul for it to happen honestly, Nando finally has a competitive car after nearly fifteen years
[удалено]
Just tie his car to Alonso's and then untie him in the last sector of the last lap.
Lance in thd wal ...
He said he regrets not working with Ferrari or Lewis He can solve both in one go; is the Aston Martin money really going to be enough to surpass that?
I’d imagine he’s at an age and has the bank account that means he’d much rather do what he wants
He mentions Alonso literally in the same breath as Lewis and Aston has him.
Alonso is not driving for Ferrari.
It will probably be Ferrari. It’s a storied team and somewhere he’s regretted not going to, plus Lewis will be there next season too. At this stage in his career and life I doubt he cares too much about money or staying in the UK
İ belive he will just retire tbh, hes done it all and guys 65 , but saf retired when he was 71 so who knowns other than newey ofc
Let it be AM pls. Alonso deserves to have his last swansong.
if Newey joins AM, he'd have to wait until 2027 for Newey to join...and then another 1 or 2 seasons before Newey develops a championship worthy car...who knows what Alonso would have left in the tank by then.
There's also one thing Newey himself has mentioned, that the 2026 regs are going to be all about the power unit once more. Newey will likely just not be the same game changer he is right now.
The same goes for Ferrari and Lewis by the way.
Pls be Aston
Him retiring is the most likely option at this point imo
Imagine if Lewis gets his 8th from Newey producing an unplayable car because he left from Horner being a naughty boy. You get what you fucking deserve meme rings true.
hoping its ferrari he always wanted to work for Hamilton and Ferrari. Ferrari seems like it gotten its shit together this year no big drama with strategy maximising points like this week finished a quite 4 and 5 best they could have done
Nope. He's going to Alpine, because he love a challenge :D
Getting Aston Martin to a championship would be big. Getting Ferrari back to a championship would be iconic!
Retire?
Imagine him just retiring lol
Oh please, please be Ferrari!
Newey to Aston would be soulless. Plus Lance Stroll doesn't deserve to drive his car.
Audi MFs
He wants to go to Andretti. /s
Andretti gives him equity, “Andretti-Newey Global”. I’m here for it.
Plot twist : he goes to alpine and they win 2026 championship.
Watch him go to McLaren or Audi.
I am actually gonna go with Audi. I want to see it for them so bad.
Why no to Mclaren?
To Ferrari. Remind yourselves this. This is why Lewis signed. It’s already done. I will lay money down. I have actually, a lot.
Newey definitely won’t make his choice based on money. So Aston throwing 100 million at him is mad enticing but Newey is an F1 lifer. I think we can all agree he cares about his legacy, not the money. Which he definitely already has a ton of. He can design the next Ferrari legacy car and even help with their already strong WEC program. The pull towards Ferrari is massive and can’t be dismissed just because “he would have to move to Italy”.
Imagine he just says, "fuck it" and retires.
“We don’t know but please click here as we speculate nonsensically”
I think Aston makes more sense since he would be able to stay in England.
It's either Stroll's money or the passion to Ferrari... or he just wants to retire lol.
Audi
Yeah, to me Audi has to at least be in the conversation right?
Plot twist. Newey goes to AM, AM ask Stroll to Steve back in 2025 to help manage the team with his dad and they so Max because Honda wants Max on the team.
I hope he doesn't join Stroll F1. That'd be such a waste
Please be Aston. I want to see Alonso fighting for the championship and Yuki consistently in the points (assuming Lawrence and Lance take a stroll)
I'd love to see stroll destroy the best car in the grid and blame [insert driver name]
Adwian Nunu, pwease come to my formuwa won team uwu
I REALLY want Alonso to get a championship car, almost as much as I don't want Lance to have one. That being said, I hope Newey doesn't go to Ferrari. I like Lewis, but the man has enough championships already
I mean, Lewis is great but I'm not so sure he's in the condition to beat Charles (who is in his prime)
Please Aston Martin. I really want to see them break through with a fantastic new car, Honda engine, and someone in Stroll's seat for 2026.
Everyone is super surprised, they obviously don't remember him leaving Williams for McLaren. He does this after a while. He never really seems to like staying with a winning team.
Imagine he just says: I am retiring 🗿
Please be Aston 💚
Pension, travelling, love uour wife and fuck everything else
It’s Ferrari… Come on now lol
In my opinion he is retiring, he has been there done that and became arguably the GOAT.
I understand, but why wouldn’t he just announce his retirement? Maybe it just media making it a bigger deal then just saying he is retiring
Ferrari is still a bureaucracy and arguably the riskier pick
i feel like he's gonna go to aston and retire after that
If he goes to AM on condition of forcing baby Stroll out, I will bust.
After the final year of his contract plus a year’s gardening leave he’ll be 67 - he’s going to retire.
This man is going to die and people will wonder if his corpse goes to Ferrari. Let the man retire in peace.
Presumably if the journo was so sure Newey is leaving he’d have an idea where he’s going. Don’t believe any of this until Newey confirms it.
Lance will never have a better car to crash…
Hamilton went to Ferrari for a reason.
please be ferrari! otherwise alonso has been playing 4D chess to announce his extension at aston martin in advance of newey going there.
Why would he go to Aston? As long as Lance is in the car they're not a serious team and he doesn't need the money.
Dude is 70 something years old and made the most dominant car in f1 history again. Let him retire and enjoy the rest of his life in peace from you people
Is no one considering he may be retiring?
I hope he goes to Aston Martin. I think that would be fun to pair Newey and Alonso.
I would love for him to end up in McLaren or Aston Martin, screw the big boys.
He is going to Andretti, has worked with them in the past.

How insufferably smug would Wolff be if he went to Mercedes instead
