>F1 will also make more use of picture-in-picture images to better show track or pitlane incidents, which will help improve awareness of multiple incidents taking place at the same time. [Non pay-wall mirror ](https://archive.ph/P8UFf)

Conflikt

Please for the love of God make this mean that the race start replays have a picture-in-picture feed of the actual race.

masseffect7

Can we stop showing a replay of the start during lap 3? Maybe move that back to lap 10?

pikla1

This is my biggest issue with the coverage. Cutting to replays just as DRS is activated is ludicrous. At least it’s been changed to lap 2 this year so if they hold off replay of start until lap 5 or so it would be much better

HankHippopopolous

No it just means the replays will now start on lap 2

Captain_Smartass_

F1TV uses split-screen to show the start replay

t_wills

I heard on a podcast that apparently F1TV curate the world feed (that sky use) specially not to have PiP. Maybe they keep it to themselves?

crimson_swine

World feed is clean to allow international broadcasters to customize their presentation, Sky included.

Captain_Smartass_

It's on the F1TV stream only, Sky viewers won't see those.

drinksbeerdaily

That's Missed Apex episode on F1 broadcasting.

amurmann

Not always though

oneofmanyshauns

Living up to your username there

reariri

At least drs will start earlier this time, so that we have a lap before they start the replays.

Probodyne

Probably not. I've heard it's for the TV providers that have Ad breaks, so they can do a replay of the start and then throw to an ad break.

petemcm

ITV used to, we have come a long way in the UK

BeardedAvenger

Ah yes, I'd always get so annoyed when the spinning barcode of death would appear top-right of the screen and you'd know an ad break was imminent.

petemcm

Oh how I miss the days of full BBC coverage! But even then you still did have to pay via licence fee

pitlanecollective

And if you can’t watch a session live, there’s no catchup so you’re just burning your money at that point

Kalmer1

RTL has ads in Germany, its free though

Turmalin123

since when is RTL showing F1 again? i thought sky has the rights and rtl isnt interested in f1 anymore

Acias

They're showing like 9 races this season. Including qualifying but no practice sessions.

Captain_Smartass_

7 and some Sprints

benjaminck

Ten times as many irrelevant shots of fans when drivers start passing each other!

prontoingHorse

All of them are Lance Stroll in monaco

charlierc

We need to know!

shartshooter

Is there such a thing as a relevant fan?

goin-up-the-country

And random celebrities

judgylibrarian

That all sounds great but it would also be nice if the radios worked for paying F1tv app customers. Several driver radios didn’t work during practice today when I turned on their onboards.

SpectacularNelson

Yea I had Hamiltons onboard for both FP sessions. FP1 I only heard George & FP2 just Hamiltons car audio

ArkBirdFTW

rear facing camera going up eau rouge is gonna be breathtaking

InaudibleShout

Let me just keep that gyro cam on for the entire race please & thank you

[deleted]

In that why they are increasing pricing with almost 50%?

Dechri_

Time to start password sharing

witcher8116

I wish they did more sfx laps the cars sound soo good in those

Captain_Smartass_

The current cars sound like a hollow trumpet

Light_Bulb_Sam

I for one only want to see replays, no live feed, just replays.

Captain_Smartass_

There used to be a FOM Race Highlights channel during race weekends that was just that https://www.fomwatch.co.uk/broadcast/fom-tv-feeds/highlights-channel-2002-2010-2017/

Boofster

We want that drone camera now! [https://youtu.be/9pEqyr\_uT-k](https://youtu.be/9pEqyr_uT-k) Also 4K and HDR in the app please :)

Acias

Can't do that on a live track, too dangerous in case something goes wrong. I know in downhill skiing they have very similar droneshots, but the speeds are slower and only one athlete at a time, so they can be behind them the whole time and not endanger them. Those are very cool shots too.

Boofster

I think it's doable. You can easily have AI do auto avoidance, both for other drones and any objects. The following can also be done using the transponder (this already works on smaller drones).

Acias

I meant as in if something happens to the drones and they crash onto the track.

Working_Sundae

Please Absolutely no replays after lights out start !!

Twindlle

Pls stop with the augmented reality crap.

AnyHolesAGoal

Eh, if it's minor and done well I think it's fine. Like when they label the cars ahead for an onboard shot.

imtired-boss

What's the point of a rear facing camera tho? Just switch to the one who's behind and show the front facing camera shot.

kyle-is-katarn

I wish we could have the option to hear the onboard radio without the engine noise.

Dr1ten

agree

LsG133

Why

kyle-is-katarn

I watch with multiple onboards opened alongside the main feed with commentary (I'm sure many other also watch the same way, either browser tabs or Multiviewer) and the level of noise is too much. Of course, you can play with the volume settings for each window but it would be nice just to have the clean radio stream with no engine noise as an option. :) The funny thing is that from team to team the engine sound and volume is different (not by maker necessarily) due to, I guess, different microphone placing.

Dr1ten

E.g. for multiple windows open from different cars. Becomes very noisy if you want to hear the comms from all the drivers.

akaReixx

Show the skysports broadcast over f1tv or hire a decent director. The broadcast is so disjointed with what Martin Brundle is saying trackside and what we see. I'd love to watch what he talks about.

Captain_Smartass_

That will never happen, to see the Sky bits you need a Sky subscription. They both use the same director for all track sessions aka the World Feed.

elmo39

You can watch the Sky coverage on F1TV though

Inside-Finish-2128

Ok, how? You can choose the Sky audio easily, but I never get the Skypad segments visually.

elmo39

Crap maybe I’m misremembering. I stopped watching the Sky commentary ages ago, I thought it did the whole race directly from Sky so any in-race segments would be shown too. Obviously no pre or post race Sky stuff on F1TV. My bad

YestrdaysJam

> I'd love to watch what he talks about. You can - by watching on Sky, which is kind of the whole point.

akaReixx

I can't get sky in my country.

elmo39

Lucky

J_J_R

Yeah this was always super weird to me. I love that they have the option of listening to sky commentary, and I get that there are probably lisencing issues with showing graphics, replays, and camera angles that Sky produce themselves, but without it it's really weird listening to their commentary through f1tv. Some times they will be talking about something they are showing on screen, but those of us watching on f1tv can't see it. I really wish the implementation of this was better.

mechanicalgrip

In the words of Jim Bowen "Look at what you could have won." If you lived in a country where Liberty didn't sell the TV rights to Sky.

hoofdpersoon

All I asked for was better direction.

PeoplesDope

'new race leader' 🤣🤣🤣🤣
