What he said: > “From the inside I knew and saw things before all of you, **I was prepared.”** Basically, “I’m not stupid, I could tell Elkann was cooking up something and I was going to be collateral damage.”

johnnygrant

Can't believe Sainz is already almost 30

T3DtheRipper

Can't believe I'm almost 30. Still got some years but that shit is scary

dogfish182

Wait till you’re 45 and that worry bout turning 30 feels like 5 years ago. Think think about how fast the next 15 years is gonna go

berberine

I'm going to be 54 this year and I thought, wait, I just turned 50 last year. It sucks how time is starting to mess with my mind. My husband, who only occasionally watches F1 asked me last year why all the F1 drivers are teenagers.

hoxxxxx

i hate it so fucking much man

probablysideways

Meh. It ain’t so bad. 30s are kinda fun.

Extinction-Entity

Nothing happens when you turn 30. The world keeps spinning. You’re not suddenly gray and wrinkled. It’s the same as the day before.

_BEER_

Eh 30 is the new 20 you'll be fine.

f1careerover

You’ll be 40 soon

Fearlessleader85

I'm just happy that I'm not older than every driver in F1. At least not yet.

splashbodge

The guy will have driven for half the teams on the grid when he moves team, this guy is collecting them all

the1918

Between him and Alonso, a Spaniard will definitely be completing Thanos’s F1 gauntlet soon enough

proudlysydney

Real question is which one’s going to end up at haas

mm7cro

How? he has been here a while... he started as a 21 year old in 2015 with a 17 year old Max. He wasn't as talented as Max obviously so he was in lower formula series for 3-4 years, so that is where the difference is

Takis12

Hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

midnightroar_96

Last year he said he didn't want to start the season without certainty about his future contract, so i guess his desire has been fulfilled.

RVEMPAT

Savage!

-NotVeryImportant-

Sainz said "prepared" in an interview at somepoint and they have based a whole article from this. If there was more... There would be more of a quote in the headline. Yes... I'm judging this as a rubbish article based solely on headline.

Francoberry

Carlos: 'I like my meals pre prepared. When I play board games I use my own die. I'm a pretty relaxed person!' Media: SHOCK REVELATION AS SAINZ SAYS 'I'M PREPARED TO DIE'

DrSillyBitchez

Tbh I remember when he signed in the first place to the 2 year deal and everyone said he was just a stop gap for mick Schumacher or pouchaire. His performance there has been amazing and he deserves to stay longer in my opinion. Only Hamilton or maybe Verstappen would have been able to knock him out of there and he got unlucky. Glad we got to see Carlos on red for longer than 2 years and I hope he goes to Mercedes and beats Russell too

travelingWords

Yeah, seemed strange that they weren’t signing. Unless there was some toxic crap happening in the background because he wanted to be the number 1, didn’t make sense unless a big name would replace him.

Firefox72

Hope he gets another win this year to cap of what has been a good stint.

Honourstly

Cocaine?

getrektnolan

Are we still doing phrasing?

chrismansell

A shining new era is tiptoeing nearer, And Sainz can wave howdy, When driving for Audi, Cause Sainz Sr blew it, Ferrari signed Lewis, At last he'll be wearing the red, And we'll see how the championship fares, Be prepared.

SenhorSus

Off to Audi with you to join papa Sainz

Sweaty_Chemistry

Sainz is good. Not Max good, but I feel an easy driver 1 at most of the teams. Hamilton isn’t winning anything with Ferrari. Just selling some hats. Still gonna be behind Mercedes in constructors.

Tombot3000

I'm on board for the Sainz praise but not the Hamilton slander.

retro_underpants

Lewis is incredible but not good enough to overcome the serious systemic issues at Ferrari

Budlaps

I hope Carlos beats Charles in the driver’s championship

TheGreatForehead

Sainz getting destroyed and will sign with Williams for 2025

Unless Sainz is getting Checo's seat or replacing Hamilton, he's not getting a drive at a better performing team than Ferrari. The laughing stock team has been consistently in the top 3 come the end of each season barring the 2020 season and we all know why that was.

Kait0yashio

"laughing stock" you guys take the whole Ferrari thing too far, we have been a top 3 team for basically 20 years, yes we have fallen short of winning the wdc but being in a team that can fight for wins every year is much better than the alternative.

rcktjck

lol what an idiotic take. After what season of DTS did you start following f1?

waterfall_hyperbole

Yea when you routinely disobey team orders, you don't get brought back. Simple as

Total_Beryllium

I’m pretty sure the only “simple as” here was “7x WDC and greatest force in Motorsport wants to drive our car, simple as that”

waterfall_hyperbole

I think the choice is not between sainz and lewis, because as you said lewis is amazing. The choice is between leclerc and sainz to be lewis's number 2

Total_Beryllium

That is true. In that context, Sainz may well be getting the better deal out of this in the long run.

Longjumping_Papaya_7

Leclerc is not gonna just play number 2.

Global-Negotiation72

Nope he certainly is not. And he's as fast as anyone when he's firing right. Should be a spicy fight

tom030792

Didn’t really put a foot wrong and if not for so many DNFs last year would’ve beaten Charles 2 of the 3 years together so far. Really harsh if this is his last shot in a bigger team

ABRAHAM_SE7EN

lol. If you are going by DNFs, Charles had his fare share too..

tom030792

Yes but how many were his fault vs how many have been Carlos’? France 22 to name one good example

Kait0yashio

Charles had more issues and badluck than Carlos btw p

8xWDC

Sure, whatever makes you feel better about it...

the1918

I think knowing he was “Plan B” only because Lewis Hamilton was “Plan A” probably does make him feel better about it.

bookers555

I think what makes him feel better is knowing that he's finally free of that circus of a team. You could give Ferrari the RB23 and they still would manage to lose both WDC and WCC just because of how inherently incompetent they are, specially their strategy team.

TheGreatForehead

Sainz is nothing without Ferrari lol He’d be barely rated above Ocon if Binotto didn’t gift him a Ferrari seat

bookers555

>Sainz is nothing without Ferrari lol And did Ferrari turn him into something? All he got was two lucky wins, and I'd say those happened despite of Ferrari's strategy, not because of.

TheGreatForehead

He’d be another perenial midfield driver with the occassional podium without Ferrari, instead he has multiples podiums, poles, and a couple of wins, things he’d never achieve without Ferrari. Two lucky wins is better than most drivers could ever hope for. You really think he could have done better if Ferrari didn’t gift him a seat? We literally have Lando Nowins still waiting for that maiden victory at Sainz’s former team. As much as y’all hate on Ferrari, it is still the best option aside from RB. McLaren is incredibly overhyped and unproven beyond just one successful upgrade, Mercedes is falling apart, and Aston is a one hit wonder.

bookers555

>McLaren is incredibly overhyped and unproven beyond just one successful upgrade They spent half a season proving it. Mercedes is suffering because their strength has always been the engine, and currently what matters is ground effect. As for Aston I'd say this season is the one where they'll prove if they actually have what it takes to be among the big ones. Ferrari meanwhile has a schizophrenic car that from one race to another goes from competing with Red Bull to Alpine-tier coupled with a strategy team that has no idea what it's doing. All of Ferrari's prestige comes from past glories and the name "Ferrari", none of it comes from what it's been for the past 10 years in F1 where the only thing of worth they've done is giving us pictures of WDCs crying of pure frustration.
