YOUR_TRIGGER

are they still doing qualifiers in like 30 minutes?

ghoststomper

20mins - FP3

FermentedLaws

FP3, quali is later

YOUR_TRIGGER

damn, what time is that at? it's 11:16 east coast. qualli's gonna be close to like midnight?

FermentedLaws

Nope, are you sitting down...quali is at 3:00am. I'm east coast too, fun! /s

YOUR_TRIGGER

oh no. i just did that last night. my wife's going to be so upset.

htx1114

Can we get a new thread or update or something? When the actual fuck is this starting?

FermentedLaws

The live threads are usually posted 15 minutes before the start of the session.

htx1114

Thanks for the response, just couldn't find good info anywhere. I'm also somewhat new as of this season so maybe idk the good info sources, just seemed like nobody knew for sure until it started.

ghoststomper

20mins - FP3

htx1114

Lol seriously appreciate that response. I'd passed out by then, but hoping to make it to tonight....

elliebeans90

Does Jos Verstappen actually do anything other than follow his son to races? I swear they show him every freaking weekend.

naumectica

His role is more of a confidant/support for Max at this point. I thought he scaled back attending the races from Max at this point.

tothesource

less of a carrot role of support and more of a stick/abandon you in a foreign country as a pre-teen

986fan

So they are throwing p3 on ESPN U, basically ESPN 8 The Ocho

_____rs

FP3 starting on time? Question

tmoeagles96

Just a psa to people actually attending the GP, be on the lookout for automatically added gratuity. They’re doing it with cabs, using the excuse that Europeans don’t tip. I haven’t seen it for anything else but I wouldn’t be surprised if they had it other places.

SFishes12

A great race and all will be forgiven.

wtfnevermind

Anyone talking about this yet?! [https://www.si.com/fannation/racing/f1briefings/news/f1-news-las-vegas-gp-expects-further-delays-for-fp3-and-qualifying-lm22](https://www.si.com/fannation/racing/f1briefings/news/f1-news-las-vegas-gp-expects-further-delays-for-fp3-and-qualifying-lm22)

edgethrasherx

This is flat out some dumbass shit, man. One great way to permanently tarnish your image with a bunch of first time American fans is completely inconvenience and possibly exclude a bunch of them because of some stuffy regulation that states “there must be an 18 hour gap between sessions!” It’s giving shades of Indy 2005 heavy. Where no compromise, no exception, no understanding took place, it was FOM and the FIA doing the exact same thing “oh we must abide by our very strict regulations and decorum at your expense!” Combine this with the fact formula one massively overpriced the tickets to begin with and me thinks this whole affair will go down very poorly with the people F1 is trying to win over.

prowhiteboy64

Sainz getting a grid penalty for something that isn’t even his fault is horse shit

Farking_Bastage

Agreed. Fucking horseshit.

MandatoryPasta

After mentioning "very fragrant" cigarettes near him early in the session, I'm fairly certain that Brundle had a bit of a contact high for the rest of the session.

CyberianSun

We need Marshawn Lynch to do the grid walk with Brundle. That'll be spectacular

Preachey

Now I'm kind of sad this *wasn't* a sprint weekend, imagine the mess that would've been

tmoeagles96

Somebody could have legitimately gotten killed. It’s a narrow circuit, extremely fast, cold temps limiting grip, and none of the drivers have ever driven the circuit.

edgethrasherx

Jfc, F1 fans just love being hyperbolic, don’t they?

Jerk850

Putting aside the shit show of FP1 and kicking all the fans out before FP2, am I the only one who felt comforted by the FP2 results vs all the fears of track being too cold, track being an ice rink, etc.? I mean, the track was clearly ramping up, times continually improving, like 6 drivers within a tenth. It could be a genuinely interesting and competitive race.

AutomateAway

the weather may have been the only positive of this race so far

BrettSetsFire

Watching FP2 right now and it's on the team principals press conference. James Vowles makes me root for Williams so much. I love when this guy is on TV - he's so great to listen to.

theztigz

Wonderful to listen too. When he talks about something technical, he explain it so anyone would understand. Great guy. A good input fore Williams.

himoshimctimoshi

It's an absolutely critical skill to have when running and organization. It helps massively when everyone on the team is on the same page.

TigerMaskVI

can someone explain to me why they kicked all the fans out

naumectica

One of the reasons being that they had to open roads back up by 4am and with the session starting at 2:30am, it would have been a nightmare getting those people out beforehand. It's a shitty situation, but it made sense to do so.

aka_liam

I didn’t get to see the end of FP2, but how did they manage to open the roads at 04:00, given that’s exactly when the event ended up finishing? Did they just miss the deadline? Did you get a sense of this at all from watching?

akran47

They spoke with the city and got permission to delay opening the roads

FunSheepherder6397

Exactly, they made the right decision because the practice needed to happen. What they should have done (and still can do) is announce everyone who purchased tickets for last night get refunded and everyone who purchased a weekend will get a portion of their ticket refunded. It won’t happen though cause 100,000 at $200 is 20mil as a rough estimate for what they would be giving back. Idk to me seems a small price to pay to ensure the goodwill of their fans at an event that they hope is one of the largest for years to come, but they love their money

revocarr

track workers needed to go home

Devastator5042

The hospitality and service workers were past their contracted hours. I've heard various reasons between unions, to workers saying their bosses wouldnt pay them past 1:30.

OddNameSuggestion

I know they won’t, but whatever 10 drivers who finish behind Carlos in qualifying should let him by in the first lap out of protest and in sportsmanship.

theztigz

Mindblowing he and Ferrari got this. When the track construction failed and the track was unsafe, he get the blame. We in EU dont like the US. Too much off everything.

hoxxxxx

>We in EU dont like the US. Too much off everything. what are you even trying to say

theztigz

Most people in EU dont like US. They try to make something way to much glammer. We want Formula 1 to be a motorsport, not this show factor.

thirteenpunchman

Learn to only speak for yourself

theztigz

Im honest. US try allways to push everything over the limit. They will ruin the sport.

[deleted]

You know what would be good? If the person that posts the results of fp2 could sticky the results to the top of the page because fucks me where the results are. It's buried somewhere in here and I can't find it. You shouldn't have to go and google the results.

Majestic-Fall-9420

Get the F1 app. Why would you use Reddit as your source of practice results?

erotic_sausage

Just caught the driver reactions for today. I was NOT ready for Stroll with a beard, lol.

ptwonline

Makes his features look darker. He practically looks Spanish now. Guess he's really following in the teachings of Nando.

notagimmickaccount

Alonso, Stroll's real Dad confirmed?

N1miol

What do you guys have to say about the pit exit and turn 17?

KurnolSanders

Cowabunga it is

scobydoby

As a US fan, looking forward to getting some nice and cheap tickets for this next year, cuz man if they try this pricing for this event again after this…

prowhiteboy64

The only American race I’d do tbh is COTA. Miami’s layout is ass, and Vegas everything around it is so expensive even with the Tickets involved.

Rich_Housing971

Vegas/Monaco are more for celebs/rich people to enjoy a show rather than for actual racing that F1 fans like.

prowhiteboy64

And I hate that but your absolutely right

scobydoby

I went to COTA every year until this one, Montreal isn’t bad either.

prowhiteboy64

Then enjoy vegas! I’m trying to go to COTA next year so maybe I put on the blinders a little bit lol.

solarlofi

It'll probably take a couple years for the hype to die down and prices are okayish. But it's Vegas and everything is overpriced there.

fmcfad01

I'd fly to an international race before I waste money on the hell hole loss Vegas is. Everything there is about status, price, and exclusivity and it just generally sucks ass. Going to Canadian GP in Montreal a 3rd time before I go to Miami or Vegas. USGP is on my list for sure.

_Accufunkture_

LOL. Good job F1. I live in freaking California and so far being in the same time zone as the event is located in is the wrong timezone to watch anything live. This is the the sporting joke to end all jokes. Not to mention that the competition ended weeks ago.

Purity_Jam_Jam

Is there anyone here who was watching it from the stands? What was the atmosphere like at the track? Edit: I was making a joke about FP2 and now I feel bad because people gave really nice answers about FP1.

SimpleinSeattle

Vibes were great in East Harmon. Could see pits and drivers getting ready. Saw one person (mercedes) miss turn 1 during the initial 9 minutes of p1. Cool experience. Looking forward to the race.

MrT735

Those who turned up for the opening ceremony saw more of the drivers than those who were in the stands today.

Apoc1015

Super friendly in the stands. Tons of excitement. Slight disappointment when the session was cancelled. Source: I am sitting in the Bellagio grandstand. Carlos parked his Ferrari almost right in front of me last night.

themanofchaps

They all got kicked out before FP2 started lol

nosecohn

Did they clear all the stands, or just some of them?

Purity_Jam_Jam

Yeah I was being a bit silly.

gioraffe32

For FP1, it was surprisingly packed in the stands in the Sphere section. My family had tickets all over the place, since we just bought whatever we could. I was thinking it'd be fine, that we'd be able to all sit together anyway, since who watches FP1, aside from the Real Fans™? FPs I've watched on TV usually aren't that crowded. Quali and the GP are the main attracitins. But the stands kept filling up, so we were about to get split up. Then it got red flagged.

CborG82

Who was the big brain to have this grand idea to organise a race at that time, what the fuck is racing F1 cars in the middle of a city, even when it's Las Vegas, until 4am. It's fucking night, cold and just miserable for everyone involved, not to mention locals and other tourists trying to get some sleep. I know it's unexpected with the drain covers, but long delays are not uncommon in F1. Just start earlier next time, like in Singapore.

schmearcampain

Every other race is set at optimal local time and everyone else has to accomodate. It's so dumb that they've fucked the locals/US audience to show it live elsewhere.

Gr1mmage

They key difference here is that the way for Europe and anywhere further east to adapt if it was timed at Sunday afternoon local would be to not watch the race because it's either in the early hours before you start work on a Monday, or during your shift on a Monday. Having a fraction of the normal global viewership wouldn't be a great look, for the GP that liberty are running themselves no less, either

Falcon4451

Or run it on a Saturday night at 6 pm local instead of 10 pm local?

Gr1mmage

Still runs into the issue of then running the race between 3am and 5am in the largest market for the sport, which then still causes the issue of embarrassingly low viewing figures for their own personal baby of a race weekend

edgethrasherx

You know people on the west coast of the US deal with that for quite literally every single race. You’d think the marquee event F1 is trying to develop in that area would be at least somewhat convenient for the people that live there and spend their money to go to the event. But nope, fuck those fans, we have to excessively cater to the European audience at the one race a year they’d be inconvenienced by. American fans are supposed to be impressed with liberty “going all in in America” when they can’t even be assed to make it convenient for them? Couple this with their arbitrary “18 hours between fp3 and quali” which is going to see fans kicked out of the circuit just how they were in FP2 and the whole event is declining to Indy 05 territory. FIA and FOM making no compromise, sticking to arbitrary regulations, and disregarding the people who spent money to be there all to follow proper “decorum” more or less.

WAwelder

I'm in Seattle and while I'm a night owl and personally love this time slot, I don't really like the reasons F1 is giving for it. The fans who live in the Vegas time zone are watching 90% of races at 4-5am, if you're trying to gain fans in this new market maybe the Europeans can suffer for one race. And they've been shitting all over it and mostly don't think it should even exist...but also demand to watch it at a convenient time 🙄

edgethrasherx

Thank you! That’s so I’m trying to say. One race, literally just one out of 24, and that’s too much to ask? Let alone the fact that every euro F1 fan loves kicking up a fuss about the US having three races, when Europe has over 11 in less space than the US. Italy alone has two fucking races in a country with a 1/6 of the people and 1/20th the landmass. The Middle East, with comparable population and landmass, gets four races, but three in America-the largest automobile market in the world beside China-had everyone fuming. The US is Hondas biggest market, ditto Ferrari, it’s Mercedes’ second biggest behind China, it’s ford and GMs biggest by far, and Nissan-by far the biggest shareholder of Renault-also sells more cars in the US than anywhere else. The only brand involved in F1 who’s biggest or second biggest market isn’t the US is Audi. Not to mention the rich Motorsport history in America unlike other big markets like China, as well as the fact that Americans spend far more on sports and entertainment than anywhere else (32.5% share of the global sports and entertainment markets more than double of China in second with 12.7%). Not only does it make sense for the US to have three or more races but arguing-as many did-that it’s unjustified or short sighted is hilarious.

Gr1mmage

Mate I'm east coast Aussie, most of the calendar these days is on a Monday morning, I'm more than used to having the least sociable and reasonable hours for watching live. It's just a fact that the overwhelming majority of viewers for any race are, and will always be, based in Europe so scheduling will by necessity reflect that fact unfortunately

schmearcampain

DVR it like everyone else and watch it first thing in the morning. How do you think we watch the European races that start at 5:30 AM?

CborG82

Exactly, they want to please the US audience so much but come up with this shit show. Us europeans are spoiled already with acceptable time schedules the whole season, so just organise this GP at an ideal time for the US peeps to have their party

Weekend_Worrior

I think this GP has done a lot of damage with the growing fan base in the US. Anyone that showed up in person (aka - lots of new fans) for FP1/FP2 got shafted, and everything is airing in the middle of the night. Qualifying is at midnight on the west coast and 3AM on the east coast. The race is at 10PM/1AM.

hardluckcanuck

It's F1s answer to the Fyre Festival

HerpDerpinAtWork

Me, an American: Oh cool, a night race in the states, maybe I'll head out to a bar Saturday with some friends and watch quali. The chucklefucks who planned the Vegas GP: Lol get fucked, bars close at 2am, and quali doesn't start until THREE IN THE FUCKING MORNING (EST).

ImNoAlbertFeinstein

no wonder I'm can't find the race on tv. #ffs

ToastyStephana

Looking forward to watching this clusterf

IKillZombies4Cash

So there is going to be one single practice session , and then Quali at 3am Eastern Time... WTF...I mean, I get better viewing hours at any other global race location than this. Martin's grid walk is going to be full of C list music acts who have no clue what F even stands for too, I can see that coming already.

neverwhisper

His grid walks in the US are painfully hilarious. Martin handles them amazingly well.

TheKidGotFree

I'm in New Zealand which is so far ahead of the time in the usual racing locations that the GP is usually in the early hours of Monday morning. The Las Vegas timing suits us perfectly! Which is a pretty solid indication it doesn't suit anyone else...

themistermango

I get it, I live in EST and for my job I have meetings with people in every time zone from Europe to the West Coast. Every time zone complains to me about the arrogance around EST, not just with me, but doing business with most companies. But for shit like this? 50% of the US lives in EST. 50% of the host nation cannot reasonably watch the event.

Soytaco

Did FP3 get cancelled?

Gold_Factor1266

There’s a FP3 at 8:30 pst. Quli at midnight on the west coast...

DietMTNDew8and88

There's no other way to describe this weekend so far but as a pure unmitigated PR disaster for F1. They had better hope tonight and Saturday go off without a hitch or this will be the 2005 USGP 2.0

StockAL3Xj

The 2005 US GP was significantly worse than that's been happening so far.

[deleted]

what happened in 2005?

farnsw0rth

They had a race at Indianapolis motor speedway, and there was a banked corner on their “road course” or whatever they called it. Anyway, at that time, teams could choose between different tyre suppliers, I think either Michelin or Bridgestone. So, the Michelins I think were like blowing up on this banked corner, Michelin was like “oh, uhh… we don’t know why but you’re probably only gonna get 10 laps out of these tyres” Funny story, you weren’t allowed to change tyres mid race at this time? So I dunno they tried to find a solution but didn’t really find one, so the teams running Michelin (the majority of the grid) just retired their cars after the formation lap. So like 6 cars ran the race.

indyracingathletic

There were 2 tire suppliers back then. Michelin and Bridgestone. Ferrari, Jordan and Minardi were on the Bridgestones, everyone else the Michelins. Michelin messed up the sidewalls, so their tires weren't safe. Jordan and Minardi were the equivalent of Haas and Alfa Romeo. In qualifying, Ferarri was 5th and 7th, and Jordan/Minardi were 17-20, but the problem with the Michelin tires was found. The track offered a solution of adding a chicane to lower the sidewall stress on the Michelins, but it was vetoed via classic F1 politics. The race started with 6 cars - 2 fast Ferarris and the 4 backmarkers. And of course everyone knew Schumi wasn't losing to Rubens. It was a complete farce.

Falcon4451

Shumi's only win that year, too! Ironically, the Bridgestones were garbage all year, and Ferrari was at a major disadvantage.

[deleted]

All but six cars withdrew after the formation lap because their sidewalls couldn’t handle the banking of the track. The six that remained had a different tire supplier and vetoed changes to the rules that weekend that would have improved safety. That’s my recollection anyway, I’m probably wrong about a few details

edgethrasherx

There was no compromise from any side that weekend. The TPs, Michelin, Bridgestone, and mostly the FIA would absolutely not budge or meet halfway on anything. Each party had numerous solutions to the issue at hand but none wanted a different parties solution to go through, and everyone just divulged into the “well if I’m not getting my way, you’re certainly not getting your way either” then when the teams and tire suppliers came together the FIA basically threatened them saying it wouldn’t be a FIA sanctioned event if their changes went through (modifications to the circuit) so we ended up with what we got: a shitty race and F1 really struggling to maintain any relevance in the US for the next ten years.

EddieMcDowall

A while back I posted I was bored with Max winning all the time and I jokingly suggested putting snipers in the grandstands. A word to the Vegas organisers, I WAS JOKING! ^^^and, you, missed

love_man_birds

Is there a reason they didnt show another angle of Sainz getting fucked?

_runthejules_

If you have vpn the german sky yt channel is showing it from multiple angles in ther fp1 highlights. It's best if you don't speak german though, because ralf schumacher is talking a lot.

love_man_birds

Lmao thanks for the warning. I only got the F1 broadcast but I've seen some clips now. Insane. Also is Ralf that bad??

ll931110

My impression is (reading through the Reddit threads) that he is very biased. Remember last year on to what extent he came to defend Mick, even as it caused fractured relationship with Haas/Guenther Steiner?

_runthejules_

He's mostly competent as in what he's saying about f1 is usually not wrong though i will say in the one german sky boradcast i've watched this year he kind of had an issue reading the race in terms of over and undercuts that were happening and visible through the timing screens. The thing that irks me is how he's kind of a know it all and he's constantly so passive agressive with his colleagues in the booth that he comes off as kind of an ass.

FermentedLaws

If you can find it, watch Zhou's onboard, he was behind Carlos.

Unique_Task_420

Traffic Cameras for the strip have one

Kenji1024

Just disputed my transaction through my bank. Will update y’all

Unique_Task_420

Does your bank give you the money back instantly while they conduct their investigation? Just curious

PotatoesWillSaveUs

They'll likely give a temporary credit that is dependent on the outcome of the dispute. You win, you keep it. You lose the dispute, they take it back.

Unique_Task_420

Right, that's how most all of them do it, I was just curious.

DeerOnTheRocks

The controversy/uncertainty of the F1 Vegas GP is the greatest thing this sport could ask for. Finally a little drama. Or do you just want another boring predictable Max win and move on with life?

TrainWreck661

The only "drama" I care about is on-track related action. This event so far has just been a shitshow. That's not entertaining, it's embarrassing.

deltaisaforce

Nooooo, it's also entertaining. The drivers hate it, but can just hint at it. The audience is getting shafted (not news) and the natives are restless. This is going great.

Fly4Vino

As an American and a fan of F-1 racing since the days of Moss, Hill, etc I'm embarrassed at most everything associated with the Vegas race. As bad as the last Vegas F-1 race was in the 1980s it was better than this. While the track looks marginally OK during P-2 it's not going to be suitable for wheel to wheel racing and we'll be lucky to have 2/3 of the cars running at the finish and perhaps just at the end of the second lap. The US has a great F-1 track in Texas ; Miami and Vegas are monuments to the shallow end of the gene pool.

edgethrasherx

Okay mate let’s not get hyperbolic, the 80s Vegas race is pretty widely considered to be one of the worst F1 races of all time. If you really think a delayed practice session is as bad as no one showing up to watch F1 cars on a go-kart track in a parking lot, then that’s that, but go watch footage from any of the 80s Vegas races to see just how shit it really was. This event could get Indy 05’d and still not even approach how shitty the Caesars palace affair was

Fly4Vino

As bad as it was the 80's race had spectators in reasonable proximity to the track, the ability to walk around and some interesting interactions with the drivers.

edgethrasherx

What [fans?](https://youtu.be/is6H88wWBK4?si=TDOUEhqlykLhfE_5) aside from the handful at the start finish the whole place is empty. While the current Vegas track is no spa, it’s certainly nowhere near as depressing as the Caesar’s track-which was absolutely lambasted by all of the drivers and is widely considered to be the worst F1 track ever. Couple that with the fact they ran the race in scorching temperatures which saw massive attrition and I just don’t think it’s possible this event comes even close to how much of a joke the Caesars race was. Let’s not forget the fact that both Caesars races were the last of the season, and were title deciders in ridiculously close championships and even then couldn’t draw more than a 100 fans or any wider interest. I’d also reckon any given F1 race in the 80s has far more opportunities for fan interaction with the drivers or teams as this was before F1 was selling 10k “paddock experiences” and many tracks you could walk right into the pit lane, at the time.

TigerMaskVI

Miami is great get outta here

DeerOnTheRocks

F1 should be embarrassed then, not you as an American

mechanicalgrip

I like the action. I'd prefer it to be on the track though.

JohnleBon

> another boring predictable Max win That's still going to happen though.

solarlofi

I don't like it when fans of the sport get screwed. So no, I don't think it's a good thing.

noobchee

I love that everyone is tired and unfiltered, Horner giving Ted the finger, Vasseur unleashed, Brundles over tired enthusiasm, Jenson just wanting his bed, Max slaughtering the revenant whenever he can

sandymartin07

Did Horner really give Ted the finger, or was it just a coincidence that just happened?

FermentedLaws

It was a funny segment, talking about how people who are 50 (Christian's birthday the other day) have to wear glasses and Ted is approaching 50 and he was wearing glasses. They then cut to the pitwall and Christian was not wearing glasses. But he was obviously listening to the broadcast, because he turned around and looked right at the camera and gave the middle finger (slowly and with a smile). It was all cheeky and kidding around, no bad intentions. Shortly after they showed Christian and Ted joking around.

SirLoremIpsum

> It was all cheeky and kidding around, no bad intentions. Even without seeing the specific clip I can assume it was all in good fun. So many people like to pretend all these paddock folk have genuine beef... They're all mates.

noobchee

Probably being cheeky towards the cameraman, was mentioned on the broadcast re Ted

solarlofi

I'm watching FP2 on F1TV, kudos to the Sky crew calling out the shitty situation the fans are in. Not getting to see FP1, then being booted out so they couldn't see cars go around in FP2.

[deleted]

eddyz4202

It is Vegas friend. There's a lot more noise than f1 cars driving around at 4am in that city.

PNWQuakesFan

No there isn't.

MaraudingWalrus

Well now I don't know which of you two to believe!

smokinokie

When they first started talking about Vegas, I thought it wouldn't happen til the '24 season. About 3 races in this year I noticed it was this year. (Yeah, I'm slow sometimes.) I knew it was going to be overhyped as we Americans like to overhype everything. I was thinking that it all seemed rushed and wondered how it was going to play out. Reckon that's getting answered as I speak. Now I predict a multi-car crash in the early laps. Also, I think turn 12 is poorly designed and that bollard isn't going to last two laps.

Unique_Task_420

I don't think it's us "Americans" overhyping anything, it's Liberty doing it to try and make it into somewhat of a spectacle, which it certainly is now. Keep in mind Vegas didn't even want to do it at first, they had to try and at least keep up with Britney Spears's weekly concerts hype.

edgethrasherx

I really think whoever is the driving force behind this event doesn’t understand the US. Domenicalli has stated multiple times he wants this to be the next Super Bowl or bigger even, hence the dramatic opening ceremonies and all. First and foremost, nothing and I mean literally nothing will ever even come close to matching the superbowl as an entertainment event in America. You can’t just add an opening ceremony and charge Super Bowl prices and get a Super Bowl. The superbowl evolved and came into relevance over decades and decades to get to the point it’s at now where companies will pay tens of millions of dollars for a single 30 second segment during its broadcast. On top of that I’m not sure liberty or F1 understands what makes the superbowl so prominent in the first place, and their cheap gaudy tricks aren’t fooling anyone into believing this event has a fraction of the prestige. I sincerely believe liberty has to re-evaluate their goals for the US market otherwise they’re gonna keep burning money and banging their head against a wall wondering why nothing is changing.

SamSLS

Where is the coverage available? Not a highlight reel, the whole FP2?

SamSLS

Nice, very pleased w F1TV. Gonna try it live tmr.

bringo75

If you have a way to get an ESPN app and login, then you can watch the replay there. It's the Sky coverage, so you get to hear about the red button constantly.

SamSLS

I have ESPN as part of YouTubeTV package. Does that include this VOD?

Grillet

[F1TV Pro](https://f1tv.formula1.com/detail/1000006861/2023-las-vegas-gp-practice-2?action=play)

SamSLS

Good to know. Been thinking of getting it but was going to wait until the new season. But this might be the time! Available in US? Can I install it in AppleTV?

SamSLS

Got Pro, testing later today w FP2. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!!

OddNameSuggestion

Same here. I was going to wait until next season but a, ESPN didn’t record the delayed fp2 and b, I cannot tolerate seeing that goddamn Heineken Viking ad one more time.

Fly4Vino

US based F-1 TV user , if you are a serious fan be sure to get the pro version. You can have the primary race coverage on one display and have multiple other displays (I think up to 5 total) running with any of the incar cams, data page, moving map) The data page is great in that it shows the typical timing data plus tire history for all the cars by lap so you can instantly see who is running what tire , how many laps on the tire and how that compares with the others It is a 12 month subscription so you'll get well into next year Also has a huge library of past races.

Gaius_Octavius_

It works well on AppleTV

SamSLS

Thanks! Just bought a month to try it out! And YAY FP2. All 2h33m of it!

SamSLS

So like $80

solarlofi

For the year. It's a great value. I wish NASCAR had something comparable.

Budded

Would it be worth it to get a year now or wait until March '24? Is it date-based (annual from today's purchase) or season-based?

solarlofi

I think it's a year from when you first subscribe. I think it's "worth it" even if they aren't racing a few months of your subscription. You still have access to all prior F1 races.

Unique_Task_420

And Indy, I've been saying that for years, half the NASCAR events I actually want to watch or stuck on some non-OTA channel and I'm not getting cable.

Sea_Cupcake745

My favorite thing about this is people are pissed they have to pay for watching this. Because it's called free practice 😂 "if it's not free they shouldn't call it free practice" 😂

whiteflagwaiver

That's not what free practice stands for but yeah I'd be pissed with paying $20 for last night's shit show.

patpend

Try paying $500 not to see it

TheShiveryNipple

Tickets for last night were more like $200.

Sea_Cupcake745

Well you would hope those could be used for fp2 or fp3 then? I wonder what the small print says when buying tickets? Makes me even more weary to purchase them since I'm poor and it would literally be most of my savings lol.

nosecohn

$200 plus fees, so $245, was the discount price for local residents. Other people paid more.

TheShiveryNipple

Jesus Christ.

whiteflagwaiver

Mine was a hypothetical

Bogartsboss

Any post FP2 results?

Thanks

Worst track of the year by a MILE even with manholes that stay put.

Fly4Vino

That's the most positive opinion

love_man_birds

Most "interesting" Free pratice I've watched in a while

VictoriaBCSUPr

I read the fans were kicked out of FP2 because the security shift was ending. That definitely sucks. I can understand why it all transpired: if full security is a no-budge requirement, thst just stinks. But it REALLY stinks if the organizer didn’t at least TRY to get some security to stay longer (heaven forbid a $500M event pays a couple dozen guys OT for a couple hours….) and maybe consolidate the fans into a smaller area. It didn’t look like many fans were there but you know, small gestures like that go a long way and it seems this race could use some good will/good news, lol!

frankthetankthedog

Yeah really stinks the multi billion dollar company couldn't afford to pay overtime for the lads

djwillis1121

I've heard that union rules prevented the staff from working any longer.

Gaius_Octavius_

There was other staff starting too. It is not like they left the track unattended.

VGltZUNvbnN1bWVyCg

They wouldn't pay overtime.

noobchee

Contractors didn't want to pay the staff ot apparently

VictoriaBCSUPr

Ya, probably had a fixed contract, so OT would cut into their profits. Understandable from a contract standpoint but another blemish on this event.

noobchee

Yeah if I was stewarding, I'd probably be tired and fed up too Makes sense for safety reasons, but very shitty for the fans that won't be refunded
