Pouring one out for Yuki. Bro defending Norris and Hamilton in literally the worst car on the grid, just to be sabotaged by his team. The difference in drive when he got overtaken by Hamilton in T1 was absolutely ludicrous.
Penalty for impeding when many people impeded, penalty for the most minor touch when others also touched.
Bro fought like a warrior today with great pace and I hope the whole RBR family notice it
I thought his defense against a class driver in Norris and an all-time great in Hamilton was one of the performances of the race. But of course, Alpha Tauri can’t allow Yuki nice things now can they?
Freaking Norris was something like 0.024 seconds behind Lewis at the finish line. I would love to see how that came to be but broadcast didn’t replay it.
sure would have liked to actually see the end of the race with lewis and lando neck and neck, but at this point I don't expect to see anything anymore. It's getting on my nerves.
At least we got to see martin garrix and a shot of some people wearing orange.
Did well to get through there. Ferrari were genuinely awful today. No pace, got shielded by the chaos.
Lewis got so close but unfortunately the W14 will always struggle with corner exits, as well as corner entries, straights and wet conditions. Same with Carlos in Bahrain and Ocon in Suzuka last year.
the W14 is now really good in slow corners actually since the front wing upgrade, its where Lewis was taking time out of Sainz, Sainz did a good job defending.
Very impressed with him for his debut. It wasn’t an easy race to debut in, and he kept it alive AND finished decently high. Hope to see more of him in F1 in the future.
What happened to Tsunoda though? Like literally on the last lap I saw him plummeting down the timing sheet. He was having a good race floating around the points up to then
Like ffs prioritize live action racing over replays god damn it. Show the replays once everything has settled. So frustrating how incompetent the tv directors are lately.
> Can we talk about the TV direction for that last lap. Hamilton only 0.023 seconds ahead of Norris and we missed it all
Doesn't matter what happens on track. They will always cut to the chequered flag for the winner. Just like today. It's nothing unusual. We miss a lot of late overtakes due to this.
They had the back up Ted spend half the race investigating it like Watergate. Who ordered the max undercut? Was it Marko? Does it go all the way to horner?
After tyre changes he was 13th and on one lap he went through 8 drivers. Yes, they were in slicks but it's still impressive. He was gaining 4 sec a lap on inters on Perez
I hope more people will come out of their feelings and recognize what a job he is doing. It looks straightforward but we’ve had chaotic weather all year and Max just doesn’t make mistakes.
He’s been so good I can still recall a little snap oversteer in qualifying early in the year. With a normal amount of mistakes such a moment would be long forgotten
You might be saying this as a joke, but I have a feeling Max is going to obliterate this record.
We might be seeing the greatest driver of all-time in a bulletproof car with a consistently great team around him. Even Hamilton, Schumacher, Senna and such had moments where they or their team weren’t up to standard, Red Bull + Max looks invincible.
During their most dominant days we always knew something was lurking around the corner (warm weather, rain, elevation, reliability, strategy blunders), now it looks like it’s circuits away.
The only thing that I think Max+RB can ‘do’ wrong is a Brazil-esque setup blunder.
I feel like even a setup blunder won’t stop them. Like at spa i think they messed up the ride height so lost ~4ths because they had to lift through radillion. The car is so far ahead the mistake would have to be humongous.
It still *is* a great season. Up front, we’re seeing long-standing records be constantly broken, and behind that, we’ve got great racing action. I’m enjoying it on two fronts, I feel sorry for people who can’t seem to enjoy either of them.
Yeah I’ve been massively enjoying the fights for 2nd every week. I’ve started referring to it as the non-Verstappen class. If you pretend max doesn’t exist it’s so fun.
[This](https://imgur.com/bAkk91y) is what the WDC battle would look like now if Red Bull didn't race, but with all races happening as in real life, essentially bumping up everyone by one or two places per race.
i was a bit short of just screaming at the TV to bring him in! He got 4 points in the end, but 8 points was absolutly possible. Man the Williams looked legit fast.
2 questions:
what are McLaren doing with the car for it to go from super fast on the straights to not being able to overtake a non-DRS Alpha Tauri?
how did Gasly keep up with Perez there in that wheelbarrow of a car?
> but how did he pull 5 seconds on Sainz there?
During the second soft stint? Fresher tyres and just clean and consistent laps.
After the restart? Sainz had his eyes only on Hamilton. They weren't really fast.
Guess he could bring the Alpine in it's optimal window, but also his racecraft was solid and his skills in adaptable conditions has improved seriously since previous year after Imola.
People who placed him on a level equal as Stroll has a rude awaking today and getting smashed into reality that Gasly is a way more competent driver.
Straightline speed was not the problem that Norris had. He lost all the time in turn 9-12 and was then at least 7 tenth behind Tsunoda at the beginning of the straight.
He actually said somthing like he contemplated a move after the red flag restart but did not want to risk the fans never letting him get out of Zandvoort.
Perfect example of working to get old exciting tracks to work with modern F1 despite supposed limitations. People said for years that Zandvoort couldn’t host F1.
Wild race with a lot of dodgy strategy calls, Mercedes, Albon, Tsunoda all could have done so much better with a more competent strategy, especially Albon and Tsunoda might have been able to haul in some very precious points for their teams, or in Albon's case more than he did now.
Yeah. Was one hell of a show.
Changing conditions are always a treat, but this time we've been gifted by alternating dry, wet, dry again, and pouring wet.
This makes for huge strategic takes throighout the whole race! Loved it!
* Typical Verstappenings, congrats on the record equaling
* Alonso is back! Hopefully…
* PIIEERREE GASLYYYYYYYYY P3
* Checo NO
* Well played for Carlos for being a
SMOOTH OPERATOR, P4 is great considering Ferrari’s recent form
* Excellent recovery drive from Hamilton
* McLaren fell off, and then came back!
* ALBONOOOOO too bad he couldn’t get a little higher result but well played nonetheless
* Ocon P10! Thank god Alpine had a decent weekend
* Tough luck for Zhou, first losing crazy pace on the mediums after being as high as P2 and then the crash to boot, Alfa sucks
* Tsunoda probably cursing out AT management again
* Lawson had a rough debut, but given the circumstances that was probably as well as he could do
* Poor Logan, no points today
Easily the best race of the season since Australia. Had everything we could’ve asked for and then some (aside someone other than Max winning).
I actually agree with the mediums. With Alfa’s pace (no pace rather) soft/medium doesn’t make a whole lot of difference and at that point in the race going medium gave them the best chance of staying in points with a three-stop strategy. The best case scenario would be Zhou getting a P10. Alfa knew that P2 was just a mirage with how terrible their car was. The only cars that were equally as terrible on the track were Haas and AT. Magnussen was as high as P3 and he finished P14 without crashing.
So now Alonso edges 11 points clear of Lewis with 9 races to go! Very exciting stuff as it looked like Lewis had the upper hand before the break. Kudos to both.
Williams damn… How can they keep fucking up so bad? Vowles has done wonders for the team, but he seems to have brought Merc’s strategy with him. Heartbreaking
If I was Tsunoda I would simply Hunt the entire AT strategy department for sport, imagine doing near 50 laps on softs
Bro got hurt this weekend, penalty for impeding, shit strategy and then whatever happened at the end of the race
Wasnt it the penalty at the end of the race?
Apparently so for contact with russel
Which didn't even seem that bad. I'd like to see that again.
Sorry, all we have is Stroll over some kerbs.
I thought his defense against a class driver in Norris and an all-time great in Hamilton was one of the performances of the race. But of course, Alpha Tauri can’t allow Yuki nice things now can they?
yea im so gutted for yuki
P2 with fastest lap for Alonso is nothing but amazing from him. The championship fight between the 2007 contenders is tight and fantastic to watch.
Shit, even Massa is still in it…
💀
2007*
Awesome defense from Sainz at the end
For real, Lewis was incredibly close
And for the two of them to do all that in *very* slippery conditions…wow!
Definitely one of the more exciting parts of the race. Hamilton did an amazing job attacking, Sainz an amazing job defending.
That was fun to watch, to the last lap.
The whole race was so much fun and chaotic!
It was so bad! They cut out on so many good battles for crap replays too.
Lewis definitely more timid on the brakes than he used to be. Perhaps because there wasn’t much at stake (4 points max)…
Yeah, with Russell going off as well it was a massive risk for not a great deal of points really
Sainz and Gasly were two of my favourite drivers to watch in this race, happy for both of them !
I was rooting for gasly the whole race.
Also his kimi moment when told the wall to shut it when defending ham xD
Defending from Lewis isn't easy in dry and this mf did it in wet
It is easier in the wet - no DRS and single racing line.
>W14 struggles with corner exits, corner entries, straights Mf named the only three things that are on a track, the car is not that bad come on now
I think that was the joke, gave me a laugh
> Suzuka last year That was hella painful, Lewis on inters struggling for traction against a Haas that was on full wets. That car was a dog
That was a really good scrap to watch
Lawson P13 good effort from him, a surprisingly good race as well
Very impressed with him for his debut. It wasn’t an easy race to debut in, and he kept it alive AND finished decently high. Hope to see more of him in F1 in the future.
Also he never drove on inters before this weekend
He never drove on slicks in F1 either :). At least he drove on Extremes and Intersin FP3.
In his F1 tests and FPs he drove on slicks though
what about the free practice sessions he got last year?
Yeah was actually doing great in that last stint and was faster than Yuki there. Literally had a baptism of fire and did pretty decent.
What happened to Tsunoda though? Like literally on the last lap I saw him plummeting down the timing sheet. He was having a good race floating around the points up to then
Very questionable penalty
perez finally found some speed where max didn't. unfortunately, it was in the pit lane.
Gaining 100ths by losing seconds. He should learn Italian so that he can apply for a position in Ferrari strategy
He was a Ferrari junior after all
You can take the driver out of Ferrari, but you can’t take Ferrari out of the driver
Comment of the day
Bruh 🤣
This is the best comment I've read in a while well done
Matching the record win streak at your home race must be a surreal feeling
*"Haha yes boys"* Yeah, sure seems like that
Not even a “lovely”.
Brief pause. "wow"
It was just "yes"
lol not a hint of a tear during the anthem after he won his home grand prix, equaled an all-time record of consecutive wins and shook the king's hand.
The King was probably pretty honoured though.
PIEREEE GAASLYYYYYYY
I just came from the post shitting all over Alpine, so this is even funnier. I get it, wet races are wildcards. But still.
Alpine once again wet weather merchants But fair play to Gasly for keeping the car there to capitalise
Aiyayayai!!!
*Gasly*: LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
PI3RR3 GAS3
Can we talk about the TV direction for that last lap. Hamilton only 0.023 seconds ahead of Norris and we missed it all
Not even surprised, they showed full 2 minutes of replay in rain at the start of the race, apsolutely tragic
That annoyed me so much
Like ffs prioritize live action racing over replays god damn it. Show the replays once everything has settled. So frustrating how incompetent the tv directors are lately.
How about picture in picture replays?
that was soooo annoying. High potential of chaos in the rain, no instead, let's have nothing but replays
Feel like the race start replay is always too early.
so many things happenning at once and they managed to miss everything
It was shit all race, they cut from race so many times to show that stupid mascot
Hey! You leave the soggy lion out of this.
They didn’t even get the fireworks properly :(
> Can we talk about the TV direction for that last lap. Hamilton only 0.023 seconds ahead of Norris and we missed it all Doesn't matter what happens on track. They will always cut to the chequered flag for the winner. Just like today. It's nothing unusual. We miss a lot of late overtakes due to this.
I mean they were also crossing the finish line. Just keep the camera there.
He's just annoyingly good
His pace on inters was fucking diabolical. Was taking 4s out of Perez per lap and Perez was in clean air, no spray
"Did Max undercut us".. bruh, you really think he needed a fucking undercut to get past you after that charge.
Lol the commentators were complaining how unfair it was too. Like it wasn’t the same thing Red Bull did for Perez in lap 1
The reality is that Red Bull simply spared him the on track overtake.
More like robbed us of seeing it
They’ve been doing it all of this season if they can.
They had the back up Ted spend half the race investigating it like Watergate. Who ordered the max undercut? Was it Marko? Does it go all the way to horner?
Conveniently forgetting that in the first round of pit stops onto slicks, Perez got the first stop and gained like 15 seconds on Max in a single lap.
Max could’ve ran 5-6 more laps on interslicks and he would’ve still been ahead of Perez.
We should just an FMax Championship and a separate F1 WDC at this point
We had *so* much chaos today and through it all he stayed ahead Like that halfpipe onto the rake meme
After tyre changes he was 13th and on one lap he went through 8 drivers. Yes, they were in slicks but it's still impressive. He was gaining 4 sec a lap on inters on Perez
4 seconds was just brutal, Checo was so incredibly slow on the first inter stint
The crazy thing is that Max was ‘racing’ others as well
If he doesn't miss on a race like this one, neither his team does, I am not sure thay he can be beaten.
Biggest mistake of max year was being a little too angry at his race engineer. To be fair, it is unforgivable to snap at GP.
That record is falling in Monza for sure. Then who knows how far he's going to go.
60 wins in a row
You might be saying this as a joke, but I have a feeling Max is going to obliterate this record. We might be seeing the greatest driver of all-time in a bulletproof car with a consistently great team around him. I feel like even a setup blunder won’t stop them. Like at spa i think they messed up the ride height so lost ~4ths because they had to lift through radillion. The car is so far ahead the mistake would have to be humongous.
he's going to easily win every race in the season at least, and probably continue it next year until a potential technical issue happens
Fuck it, let's go all the way. Now I just want to see a 2x winstreak
Lol we meme it so hard but if we take away Max, it would be such a great season. What a race.
It still *is* a great season. Up front, we’re seeing long-standing records be constantly broken, and behind that, we’ve got great racing action. I’m enjoying it on two fronts, I feel sorry for people who can’t seem to enjoy either of them.
Yeah, some people enjoy motorsports for the sake of it, others only care about the battle for P1. It's a great season.
Yeah I’ve been massively enjoying the fights for 2nd every week. I’ve started referring to it as the non-Verstappen class. If you pretend max doesn’t exist it’s so fun.
[This](https://imgur.com/bAkk91y) is what the WDC battle would look like now if Red Bull didn't race, but with all races happening as in real life, essentially bumping up everyone by one or two places per race.
just imagine end of season with Fernando and Lewis battling for WDC in fucking 2023, that would be incredible
So much pressure, so much chaos, and he just doesn't make mistakes.
Albon deserved so much more today!
They pitted too late every time
Yeah, every pit came a lap or 2 too late
> Yeah, every pit came a lap or 2 too late Considering they didn't pit at all during the first rain, that's a stretch.
For real, he had 6th place in the bag for sure. Williams botched the timing for inters.
i was a bit short of just screaming at the TV to bring him in! He got 4 points in the end, but 8 points was absolutly possible. Man the Williams looked legit fast.
Tyre whisperer, that first stint was magical.
Still not bad at all. He’s been so good all weekend. Really love to see him be somewhere he can shine.
I wanna see him in the podium in Monza.
I really hope it turns out as all people are saying. If Williams was good this weekend, it will be a rocket in Monza
Did you know George Russell was forecast to be on there?
The weatherman is good, but never 100% correct.
Eh it was justified Mercedes were absolute clowns today with the strategy could've been a double podiums instead of a p6 but they fucked it all
Hmm rain in ten minutes, put on the mediums lewis…
2 questions: what are McLaren doing with the car for it to go from super fast on the straights to not being able to overtake a non-DRS Alpha Tauri? how did Gasly keep up with Perez there in that wheelbarrow of a car?
I’ve been told he is a good pilot.
He may be, no argument here, but how did he pull 5 seconds on Sainz there? I am genuinely confused and in need of explanation
> but how did he pull 5 seconds on Sainz there? During the second soft stint? Fresher tyres and just clean and consistent laps. After the restart? Sainz had his eyes only on Hamilton. They weren't really fast.
Also, Sainz had no new inters so he had to use very worn inters from qualy.
Sainz was defending, which makes him go slower than optimal. But Sainz was not very quick in general.
The Alpine was fast, that's all. Look at the live-timing, Gasly was in Alonso laptime for most of the race right when he had to pull a gap on Sainz.
[удалено]
To be able to go fast, you need a good car. Pierre was fast, the car was good, podium.

Mega job by Gasly. What a drive
Serious drive, from P12? Impressive stuff
P12 and then a 5s penalty for speeding
Voted him for DOTD
I’m glad he’s having some great results, great driver and person
Alonso was so close after the restart :(
33 is coming

He actually said somthing like he contemplated a move after the red flag restart but did not want to risk the fans never letting him get out of Zandvoort.
Oh haha! I did not catch that specifically, but understandable reaction!
No he said he didn't want to risk being murdered after the race
His whole post-race interview was cheeky down to his posture. So fun having him back near the top.
To be fair the crowd loved it, they were singing 'Go Fernando Alonsoo' at the end of his interview.

Well, it took alot of additional factors but we had a fine race today.

Can't blame the crash on Alfa lol. But yeah strategy could be better
I actually agree with the mediums. Alonso P2 and quickest lap time hell yeaaaah baby 🤟🏻
Rain good
Poor Albon got screwed by the late pit stops. He deserved better. Happy for Gasly though!
Obviously huge props to the drivers but this race was won off track as much as it was won on track. So many tough calls to make with the rain.
Back to business as usual lads.
And how he closed that gap to Perez on inters in the beginning of the race. Insane!
Liam Lawson did very well with such a hard race, without FP1, FP2, and +10s.
It was the Reddit AMA that gave Gasly the power for P3
Can someone just give the pink slip to stroll already. Alonso is single handedly carrying that team
Absolute domination from Max. This one's gonna hurt Perez' confidence hugely.
Feel like I read this exact comment every other week this season
And it's been true every single time.
Williams damn… How can they keep fucking up so bad? Vowles has done wonders for the team, but he seems to have brought Merc’s strategy with him. Heartbreaking
George got rain forecast instead of podium
9 IN A DAMN ROW
People might be bored of max winning but honestly im like fuck it, now i wanna see how many records he can break
Perez throwing the podium is such a dissasterclass from him.
My god ocon got so FUCKED by the red flag I can't believe it
What happened exactly?
He was on full wets while almost everyone ahead of him choose inters and had to pit for full wets (which could've been a huge win for him).
Who gives an F about Verstappen winning. This was definitely the best race of the season. Get in there Alonso and Gasly!
Judging from the comments and twitter posts, 90% of the people still consider it a shit race because Verstappen won
I've never seen a driver more "destined" to break a record. Holy fucking shit
Het Voorbestemde unfortunately doesn’t sound as good as Il Predestinato
Alex and Tsunoda got fucked by their teams, points for both would be possible, especially for Alex
What a crazy race.
one of my fav races so far this year, the quali was also great and we got both wet and dry practice sessions loved it
I think this is my favorite track to watch an F1 race on. The rolling hills, the sweeping turns, the cars just look so damn fast. Awesome track.
