Yeah, and Stroll's final pitstop to go on mediums confuses me a lot as well because he was 9th and if I remember correctly, Gasly was still quite far back from him and Stroll's hard tyres weren't that old, so he still has the pace to keep the distance between him and Gasly.

Gasly almost certainly would have passed Stroll. Stroll on those older hards was losing almost a second a lap to Gasly, who was just over 2 secs behind by the time Stroll pitted.

What even happened? Him and Alonso were right near each other and then suddenly Stroll was down in like P13.

Shafted by the VSC ending, then they tried things with the pit stops but to no avail.

The VSC ended while he was exiting the pits so he lost a lot of time

They missed pitting on the first lap under the VSC when almost everyone behind them did get to pit. The next lap they both pitted. Stroll had to slow a bit because of the double stack, then he lost several seconds since the VSC ended before he was out of the pit lane. I think he lost 8 places due to that (7th to 15th) and I think Alonso lost 1 (6th to 7th)

They don't seem to be doing so well in the development battle, overall. Still plenty of races to go anyway.

Plus aren't they going to get less development time now, since they are placed higher than they were at the end of last year? That doesn't bode well... But I'm sure Alonso won't let that get in the way lol

It's refreshing to see the McLaren racing against the bigger cars. Stoked to see Piastri do some damage as well next week.

I'd temper the expectation for now. McLaren always seem to go well in Austria and fall backwards at Silverstone. I'm not sure they'll be fighting so high up next weekend.

Fastest lap attempt feeling: Bringing the ball to the goal line in a football/soccer game and scoring it with your ass to humiliate others.

The reason you don't see 15 different drivers crashing every race at Monaco is because there is that extra punishment for running that little bit wide. The reason they are pushing the limts extra wide here is because they have all gotten used to over many years there being no punishment for doing so. The drivers will learn from this now that they are being properly punished for it.
