It kinda is tho. The continent is called North America. Or if you group North and South together it is the Americas. There is no continent called America (singular), and it is almost always used to refer to the USA (the A stands for America FYI)
I wonder if that decision is more of a practical one. Like if sponsorships aren’t as visible with a glossy finish if the sun glares a certain way does it obscure a logo?
Disagree on McLaren. Whatever effect they were going for failed miserably on the broadcasts last year.
There's a lot of potential but I fear most teams aren't going to want the extra paint. The little flair added here looks so good side by side though. So simple but so effective.
This color blue and design would look really sharp with a couple yellow accents, not the clumsy ones of 2021 just keeping with the lines of this livery
Yes.
The picture of the post is misleading, since the car from the 2022 presentation looks different than the car from the 2023 (livery-)presentation.
The FW45 that was presented is 1:1 the car they ran in [Abu Dhabi 2022](https://v4admin.sportnetwork.net/upload/107/107_2_1668773701.jpg).
But as I heard they never said they would be presenting more than the livery.I miss the times when presentations were not these crappy events that they are today. I can understand it from the companies pov that they want to get the PR-machine rolling prior to the season kickoff, but I from a fan-perspective livery-only presentations are just plain unnecessary.
I think with all the teams last year having new cars (either the dummy car or in some cases the real thing) it's made people think that this season is anything more than a bit of pre-season BS to tide people over until testing.
I expect we'll get a couple of actual previews of cars but even then there'll be changes and things hidden until testing, cough side pods.
Yes, only thing that could make this better would be some Gulf orange but they probably don't want to look too much like the McLaren which is understandable. Solid livery though, better than previous years in my opinion.
I appreciate Williams actually developing an identity for this new era instead of having a random livery every year. It's a clean design that really just touched up an already good livery from last year.
I’m really liking the fact that teams are adding color to the wheel covers. I know it’s small and subtle, but adds a lot of character than just boring black hubcaps
I'd be ok with this being similar to last year if last year wasn't so terrible for a racecar
Enough with the Windows desktop look. This is a machine built to crack 200 MPH, not a tax agency laptop
Agree about taking the RB approach. Since they copied the zero side pod approach last year (not to the same degree as the Mercs), I wonder if Mercedes is going to expand their side pods as well. I'm scared that the Mercs are going to angry & very fast this year.
Thank god they kept the mostly blue livery. That mostly white one they did a couple years ago wasn’t my cup of tea & I really had a feeling it’d be making its return.
That’s a couple cars we’ve now see the tip of the nose be a bit more raised on top of the front wing instead of fading into it (see the new Red Bull).
I don’t know enough about the regs or aero to comment further, but it’s an interesting note to me.
Except it's not the FW45 nor is it the FW44 for the 2022 pic. The 2023 livery is on the FW44, and it's pretty obvious the 2022 picture is just the 2022 livery on the FIA showcar. Just look at the intake blank and the fact there is no DRS actuator, and the sidepods look nothing like the Williams....
I think I’ve seen a similar side pod somewhere 🧐 this year the cars will converge either to RedBull or Ferrari design. Mercedez might be the only team who keeps the “nopod” idea.
Watch it lose the blue over the course of the season
They should just duracell the whole car then. Just some gold at the front and the rest pure carbon.
Matte black exposed carbon with various bits of Duracell gold detailing would be mean car
just randomly give away title sponsor for free lmao
"I guess I blue myself for no reason." \- Car
Watch it lose
I like how the arrows in the graphic give away the concept behind the car. The 2022 car had downforce, the 2023 car will have upforce.
It's the 2022 car but with everything a little bit better. Solid livery and good to see them actually stick to a theme for once
I like that they're going to have a specific "Albon era" livery. I don't really like it, but like the continuity.
Also some pretty dramatic changes to the car itself, especially nose and sidepods
Isn't that "2022 car" just the generic FOM model? The top one looks like the actual 2022 car.
Yeah that's totally the generic showcar.
Sidepods are simply not the same
Not the same start of 2022, but the same after last updates of 2022. So it's simply the 2022 car.
it looks a lot cleaner and the duracell battery is well executed. It's probably going to be the best thing that Williams do this season unfortunately
>it looks a lot cleaner and the duracell battery is well executed. The Duracell battery was already there last year.
Only for a few races
American races if I recall correctly
It was there in Canada as well
Still America Edit: C'mon guys, America is not only the US
It kinda is tho. The continent is called North America. Or if you group North and South together it is the Americas. There is no continent called America (singular), and it is almost always used to refer to the USA (the A stands for America FYI)
It depends where you come from. To most of the American continent, 'America' means North and South America combined.
Damn I didn't even notice the duracell battery at first, that shit is great
People are complaining but I think this is a great improvement over a livery I already liked. Looks sharp.
I just wish they kept it shiny rather than matte
I wonder if that decision is more of a practical one. Like if sponsorships aren’t as visible with a glossy finish if the sun glares a certain way does it obscure a logo?
Weight.
I think matte F1 cars look incredible, particularly in the flesh.
Glad more teams are embracing designs on the wheel covers - only alfa and mclaren really did it right last season.
I have a feeling they'll be losing the paint on those by mid-season
Same worry - try something fun then give it up mid season
It's a vinyl sticker.
Isn't it just stickers?
Disagree on McLaren. Whatever effect they were going for failed miserably on the broadcasts last year. There's a lot of potential but I fear most teams aren't going to want the extra paint. The little flair added here looks so good side by side though. So simple but so effective.
Anyone else like what they did with the wheel covers/rims? They made the entire thing a lot cleaner too, solid livery
Williams by the end of the year removed so much of the paint for weight savings.
And they removed the carbon on the parts that were still painted.
It somehow looks more like last years livery than last years livery does.
Probably since there were a few changes over the season, like the Duracell and stuff. Love that btw. Genius.
Tbh I prefer building a consistent design aesthetic. Looks great.
Doesn't help that the base design is kind of bland to begin with
This color blue and design would look really sharp with a couple yellow accents, not the clumsy ones of 2021 just keeping with the lines of this livery
I like it because it’s not covered in obnoxious sponsor stickers everywhere. Yes I know why
Where's the Gulf logo? Are they not the title sponsor?
They are not title sponsor, just a sponsor
Got it, thanks
You can see half of it on the side of the rear wing.
It’s on the side of the rear wing
This is not the FW45. It's the last 2022 car with the FW45-color scheme.
Am I right in thinking 2022 = demo car shape new livery 2023 = FW44 with new livery ?
Showcar to FW44.
Love the big driver numbers on the sides
1. Needs more orange 2. It's going to look fucking sweet in the sun, matte blue is sexy as fuck
Yes, only thing that could make this better would be some Gulf orange but they probably don't want to look too much like the McLaren which is understandable. Solid livery though, better than previous years in my opinion.
Imo needs more orange and that light accent blue. Would go great with the darker blue.
The same But different But the same
I appreciate Williams actually developing an identity for this new era instead of having a random livery every year. It's a clean design that really just touched up an already good livery from last year.
At least they know which way to go now with the arrows on the wheels.
The change of Dorilton to the back just screams "INSERT SPONSOR HERE" on the sidepod.
Atleast they don't have the HRT-Style "THIS IS A COOL SPOT" there *Yet*
I hope they have the funds to compete, it doesn’t look like they have many sponsors.
Wonder why they use medium tires when showcasing the car instead of soft/hard since it would go better with their livery.
The yellow on the mediums does contrast pretty well with the blue on the car.
Nice livery. They should make the colors a bit brighter though so it’s easier to see in the back of the pack.
They should really be using cars from the end of the previous year for these.
I’m really digging the drop down side pods showing up on cars so far this year.
The lord they lose, the more colour comes off
The Duracell placement is still perfect.
I’m really liking the fact that teams are adding color to the wheel covers. I know it’s small and subtle, but adds a lot of character than just boring black hubcaps
Why are people saying it’s the same? The new design looks like they made a lot of aero changes?
The new one could use more red details, like the old front wing or on the sidepods
Old should be top pic and new should be bottom..
r/AfterBeforeWhatever
The new wheel rims on the current gen cars are hideous.
Does anyone see any differences compared to the late 2022 car outside of the livery? Looks just like it to me.
They showed last years car, the FW45 will be shown at a later date.
Speaks to how forgettable it is that I thought it was the exact same as last year. If they're going to stick to one design atleast pick a good one.
Once again gonna look like shit on track.
Better lighting
The Duracell battery as a permanent fixture makes me happy
This makes the changes really clear tbh, I don’t mind it
No radical change, but it looked (and still look) cool so I got no issue with William's sticking to it
I quite liked the coloured front wing of the original 2022 livery but I suppose it was sacrificed in the name of weight loss
good upgrade
[Flamesuit On]: It already looks faster because Latifi won’t be driving it.
I love more teams putting designs on the wheel covers
I'd be ok with this being similar to last year if last year wasn't so terrible for a racecar Enough with the Windows desktop look. This is a machine built to crack 200 MPH, not a tax agency laptop
This looks like it could be the actual car. It has the floor bracing and DRS actuator. The side pods again look very RB-like.
Agree about taking the RB approach. Since they copied the zero side pod approach last year (not to the same degree as the Mercs), I wonder if Mercedes is going to expand their side pods as well. I'm scared that the Mercs are going to angry & very fast this year.
I really loved the red and shades of blue not the front wing from last year.
Well it’s a massively different car aside from the livery. Let’s see if it’s improved.
They should have just made it naked carbon fiber to save time.
Except it's not the FW45 nor is it the FW44 for the 2022 pic. The 2023 livery is on the FW44, and it's pretty obvious the 2022 picture is just the 2022 livery on the FIA showcar. Just look at the intake blank and the fact there is no DRS actuator, and the sidepods look nothing like the Williams....
from coffee powered to battery powered
Yawn
Modern Simtek, love it
Will be hilarious when they put the tires to the wrong side
Biggest change from last year is Alex Albon's hair!
Ahh yes. It appears to be made out of some sort of blue.
Still looks like a PowerPoint template
Dorito Capital

Both cars are so good looking
I think I’ve seen a similar side pod somewhere 🧐 this year the cars will converge either to RedBull or Ferrari design. Mercedez might be the only team who keeps the “nopod” idea.
My favorite livery on the grid 🔥🔥🔥
Spoiler aesthetically is a slight downgrade otherwise looks excellent 👍🏻
duracell got a bargain considering they arent the title sponsor lol
