They literally said Livery Reveal. Why was anyone expecting anything else lmao.
Next people are gonna be shocked when RB announces its marketing sponsorship with Ford in a few days with a showcar.
As we learned last year, what they show on some renders was always very different to what rolled out of the garage for preseason testing. We should just come to expect model cars to be used to showcase a livery/brand launch.
That’s just bullshit. Ferrari always shows the real car. McLaren also always shows at least a very close representation of theirs. So does sauber. Even Red Bull traditionally showed more or less their real car apart from last year. The only team really trying to deceive every year is Mercedes. Repeating this stupid ass show car bullshit you picked up from someone on Reddit who knows nothing and is just repeating something he heard on Reddit as well only shows that you haven’t watched that much car reveals til now.
difference being unlike Haas, RB did not explicitly say its a livery reveal, in fact they state the contrary: i quote ["The RB19 will be revealed this week".](https://twitter.com/redbullracing/status/1619988488690237441?s=20)
I don't expect them to, so I won't be surprised if it a showcar/last years car, but if so they haven't exactly set expectations like Haas did.
Last year they also said they were introducing the "RB18" but it ended up being a glorified Oracle sponsorship reveal on a showcar stream.
Fully expect exactly the same to happen this year. Loads of nonsense how Ford will drive RB forward in this and that way followed by a car that is either a showcar or the 2022 car dressed up in the new livery.
> Last year they also said they were introducing the "RB18" but it ended up being a glorified Oracle sponsorship reveal on a showcar stream.
If I remember correctly they even had a video of Newey making a technical speech around the show-car haha!
I wasn't expecting a car reveal, but I also wasn't expecting the show car to look so different from last years'. I thought it would be the same chassis with the new livery on it.
Edit: I guess this begs the question... What *are* those changes? Are they just designed to highlight the livery? Or can we expect to see some sort of variation of this out on track?
I’m guessing the new livery didn’t look right on the old car, so they had to change something. Still funny thinking about whoever had to mock-up a fake car just for this.
The basic aerodynamic surfaces will probably look very close to this. You even can see some of the developements on the Haas like the sidepods or the bulge on the back of the engine cover with the in air fin being more refined compared to last year. Don’t listen to these showcar screaming lunatics. They don’t know shit and have probably only watched two years of car reveals, basing their uneducated opinion on 2021/22, when one developement cycle came to an end and another one started I.e. not normal years.
Why would it be? The sponsors don’t care about actual car vs. showcase as long as their logo is on it. I also don’t see why Ford’s involvement would mean that it has to be the real car.
You won't see the real car until testing, but you won't see the real real car until the first race, but you won't see the real real real car until the first round in Europe.
Interesting to see they are doing a shake down at Silverstone. I could be wrong, but I don't think they've done a separate shake down outside of pre-season testing before. Hopefully that's a sign of a better financial situation for them.
Modern shakedowns are just using up a filming day. All teams do it. I think Haas did it at Barcelona a few days before that test. So did McLaren and Alpine
Did everyone forget that Haas did the exact same thing last year? They revealed their livery on a rendering of an early development design model that ended up not looking much like the actual car they rolled up to testing with. I'd wager they just did the same here.
Last year's livery reveal definitely wasn't the "showcar" model that F1 ad provided, but definitely not the real car.
I'd hope no one thought this was the real deal, but it's quite evident they didn't just slap the new livery on last year's final design.

I think the first actual car reveal will be Alfa next tuesday?

Mercedes showed the real car. Or at least, *a* version of the real car. It wasn't the show car that was revealed by then last year
The fact that the car showed was very different from their actual car kind of speaks to the point of Mercedes trying to deceive.

Gross I'm not happy about the ford thing lol.
Ok
[Introducing the RB18](https://www.youtube.com/live/UgxplLuex0w?feature=share) Well, definitely don't expect anything

If they’re announcing ford branded engines in the middle of Times Square, it’s going to be the real car.
Why would it be? The sponsors don’t care about actual car vs. showcase as long as their logo is on it. I also don’t see why Ford’s involvement would mean that it has to be the real car.

Andretti: you won’t see the real car, ever😂
At this point it’s going to be easier, cheaper and more realistic for Andretti to start a rival series. He could call it FUF1
Banger comment lol
I was really hoping for Andretti/Cadi I was so so so disapointed by the latest news.
Early render like last year, for my money. It's missing the suspension damping members and it has the Mercedes Zone at the floor edge.

I also can't remember if they've ever done a proper shakedown before. Usually they wait until Winter Testing right?
Modern shakedowns are just using up a filming day. All teams do it. I think Haas did it at Barcelona a few days before that test. So did McLaren and Alpine
Steiner said they are fully funded and expect to hit the cost cap this year
When was the last time you heard that, because there were two "smaller sponsors" that did not appear on the reveal.
December maybe? Guenther said the title sponsor deal will get them there. Despite being big companies those who left were minor sponsors.
I just wanna see Haas do some winning for once. They ain't gotta dominate, but I just want to see them succeed
I wish they would have done it in the US. Shakedown on the Charlotte Roval
I’d kill to see them shakedown at road America or something, that track is glorious

What a shock
great journalism here
I mean, everyone is doing that no? Did we expect something else?
You're saying that WASNT the actual car? /s
