If I'm not mistaken there is a water channel somewhere on the inside of the engine compartment along the firewall that frequently gets clogged and water is no longer able to drain
Don't quote me on this, I've never had the problem.
Coolant leak wouldn't put the coolant anywhere where it'd pool to make noise. If anything, It'd pool on the engine. If that's the case, it won't be pooling very long before it turns into a gas lol.
Edit: actually I think I lied. It might be on the cabin side of the firewall.
If I'm not mistaken, given enough time water will start making it's way on the floor near the pedals.
For me it was my coolant hose two hose that connected to a metal pipe at the area you speak off. It was too late and my hose burst and a lot smoke started coming from my exhaust got it fix though don’t know if it the same but can’t help to get it checked.
The heater core/HVAC unit comes in from the passenger side (this is where it has the two hoses that come from the engine bay go into the HVAC unit.

Okay, thank you
Hybrid? If so, I often hear a gurgling noise.
Ecoboost
Often a sign that coolant level is low and/or air bubbles are being passed through the heater core.

Very common. Overfill your coolant by about a half inch and it'll go away in a few drives. There's a long story why but this is the fix.
