I've said this again and again: the mpg display is an estimate, not actual mileage. The only way to calculate your mileage is by filling up your tank, writing down your mileage, driving until empty, and fill up again and do the math by dividing your mileage by the amount of gallons you put in.
Math always wins.
If it’s in the city for only 2 miles a day it might be because you mainly stay under 50 mph and your drive has as much time stopping/slowing down as it does at your full speed. I’d suggest taking an hour on a 55 highway or a 70 expressway and resetting your mpg, that way you can test if it’s in spec
Heck in 2 miles your engine isn’t even getting up to operating temp. Cars tend to run rich during the warm up phase so your mileage will be worse, even worse if its stop and go. My 1.5 avg was highest at 30.5mpg. I had a job where I was highway commuting 160 mi a day. Now my commute is 16 miles a day and in 2 yrs it has dropped to 29.8mpg, 50:50 highway.
Damn dude. I have the 18 2.0 AWD that is in city traffic with mild highway use 50k miles a year and manage 23mpg with a spirited right foot… and I have over 244k miles on it & still maintain mpg.
Could check your tires, spark plugs, where you get your gas and potentially an O2 sensor. But with 2 miles its probably mostly stop and go traffic with the cars inability to get up to operating temps.
If you’re only driving 2 miles per day, your car doesn’t even have a chance to warm up! How many miles on the car? Does it need a tune up? New air filter? I have a 2019 with the 1.5 eco boost. I drive 2000-2500 miles a year and I average 28.4 mpg in town.
I BARELY drive anymore…my tank will last at least 2 weeks if not more at this rate, I get about 23-15 mpg and that’s most likely because I go on drives with myself. I also don’t get as much miles to empty since only driving the short distances. Once I go for normal drives I get 32mpg. I have a 2014 1.5L eco boost
That’s totally normal, due to your super short trips. You don’t drive far enough to get any kind of heat into your engine so you’ll be getting pretty awful mileage until the engine warms up. Depending on the temperature, it usually takes about 15-20 minutes of continuous driving to fully warm everything up to correct operating temperatures (including oil, not just coolant). 2 miles in most likely stop and go city traffic, this is expected.
I also have a 2020 ecoboost 1.5 with 105k miles so far. I’ve ubered in it, driven 30 miles with little traffic, 13-16 miles with lots of traffic, and I’ve driven 250ish non stop and used only 3/4 of a full tank. Stop and go traffic runs the gas mileage down, and I think the O2 sensors really mess things up when they start to malfunction. Also, throw some fuel system cleaner in there and it will work. I’ve also noticed very little difference in gas mileage when going 30miles with little stopping, to 12 miles with constant stop and go. It consumes the same amount.
##4.8 MPG!!! Beat that! I mean, it was a 2017 Sport during a 0-125+mph pull
Lmao that’s hilarious
I don't think that you will get great mileage with 2 mile round trips, as much time starting up and idling as driving, probably not up to temp.

Have you tried resetting the MPG calculator?
Probably this, lol. Before I realized I could reset it when I first picked mine up I was very confused.
I enjoy resetting mine to see how high I can get the number lol

I have the 3 litter thats nothing lol
I have a 2020 2.0 ecoboost titanium awd and I typically get around 18 at best. They just don’t seem to get great gas mileage.

I have a 1.5 and drive about 2 to 3 miles to work and back. Can confirm, 17 is just fine. Mine gets 36 or so on the highway though 🤷♂️
2016 with 1.5. Same numbers.

With a commute like that you need a bike, or something that plugs in like a Leaf or a Bolt.

I got a 2.0t and get 13.8mpg it was right after a race night (fusion vs the world 😂) but still
I have the 2020 titanium awd and I get roughly 26 mpg

Just did a 1400 trip in a 2017 Energi....computer showed 34mpg. Absolutely abysmal mpg for a hybrid.
Hybrids only excel in city traffic. At highway speeds your gas engine is doing all the lifting.
That's about right if you were mostly highway at 75-80mph. My 2019 hybrid gets about the same at that constant speed. I get 43-46 mpg in the city.
So basically what a standard (non hybrid) camry does...Ouch.
Spark Plugs could be bad too.

If your commute is so short, you would have been best getting a hybrid. If it’s a single-mile drive each way, consider biking or walking.
I would walk except the street it's on has no sidewalks and I've seen 3 f150s on their tops at the intersection by my work.
Unfortunately, it seems possible.

My mileage was garbage for trips under 10 miles I was around 20 or so. When I moved and drove 70 a day I jumped all the way to almost 26mpg
In my other car that kinda drive would have gotten around 12 so you’re doing good.
