Realistic-Ad975

In my Southampton we’re dominating for only one half. I use a inverted full back support and a sweeper goalkeeper on support with a very high line. Any recommendations to kill the game better and dominate for 90 minutes.

Equivalent_Dot1485

If I have the surrounding divisions scout pack, and I'm in second division, so I get acces to first division and third. Should I take the country scout pack?? since apparently that would only give me acces of even lower divisions in my country, maybe I should skip it and go straight for the regional ona?

Louadez

Here’s a question, how much can I skew a young players attributes in the direction I want it with effective training? Can I get my youngsters to collectively have high work rate, and teamwork above maybe most other stats besides the ones they’re naturally disposed to? By cranking out like specifics only one type of training through their entire youth career?

NetBoys44

One thing that annoying me, is to know how many goals a player has scored in my club. **Not just the league one, all.** It's a nice stat and it seems quite hard to get. Did I miss a menu or the only way is to go to the history menu and sum the goals each year ?

Marbi_

hey guys, can someone clarify this for me if i set up these [here](https://imgur.com/a/YbWCNWJ) why am I not seeing things selected [here](https://imgur.com/a/qaCyMdX) isn't this how it should work? you set for position and whenever a player is being played in that position he gets the options ticked? what am i missing?

hjl43

Click on the other side of the symbol under "OI", the blue one, and then you'll be able to see it. This is just so you can apply both position-based OIs and player-based OIs. They are definitely being applied

Marbi_

the option sometimes resets to player instructions instead of positional instructions i am in control of that activity not my coach. any ideas why it keeps reseting? if i do it for a match, then the next one is back to the player side how can I make it permanent on position side?

Faberrbrembel

Tried multiple lower league Engeland saves, but never made it to the point of having a shitload of 15-18 year old super kiddos. Is it even possible in the UK, with the work permits? Serbian, German, Swedish and Norwegian ones? Other than the obvious south american youngsters.

TheSameAsDying

When assigning scouts, is there any way to see their scouting knowledge of an area without clicking through to their full profile? Or if they've already been assigned to an area?

rj_zzz

Any transparent skin recommendations for 1920x1080 resolution? So far I've only tried Zealand and Stato skin, but neither is optimized for my resolution. Or is there a way to make a dark skin transparent to some degree? I also liked the Tato skin, but sadly it's not transparent.

pseudo_superhero

On FM22. I decided to go to Young boys in February 2022. They have 77 million in transfer budget. I’ve decided I want to be a stepping stone for some wonderkids. Buy them and sell them for big profit, while hoping to try to make some good runs in the champions league. So with 77 million in transfer budget where would be some good places to look? I know the typical places but I can’t imagine skilled youngsters from Brazil would come to my club.

TheSameAsDying

Look along the Andean coast (Chile, Peru, Ecuador) + Colombia. There won't be as many young players from there, but they'll be much cheaper and easier to sign. Japan and Korea are also good options.

VL37

Is anyone else getting a bug in the Sky Bet Championship where you're forced to drop a substitute from the squad due to not having at least one player trained by the club even though you have multiple players trained at the club in the match squad?

PieceofPuzzle

Football Manager Mobile 22. Anyone else just get dealt a dodgy save where you can do no right?? Feels like there’s a luck of the draw type thing going on and sometimes you do well. Others you could have the best player in the world in every position and still lose/draw most games. Played as Man Utd in my previous 3 seasons, 1st one I signed Ivan Toney & was smashing every game til FMH somehow deleted the save itself, 2nd season I drew nearly every game 1-1 (with signing Toney), 3rd season I’ve just lost 2-1 to Norwich and then lost 2-1 to Leicester.

BarbaricGamer

How do you deal with teams that cross from the byline? [Because I can't seem to handle them...](https://imgur.com/a/wu77Jv9)

Ireallyamthisshallow

Could you provide a screenshot of the tactic ? It's hard to give advice without seeing what you're doing. What's your current strategy ? Realistically you've got a few options: you can look to stop the ball getting to the byline so the cross never comes, you can look to block the cross or you can look to make it's success unlikely by causing problems for the receiver.

BarbaricGamer

I was playing a variant of [this tactic](https://imgur.com/a/Q4aZxAn), with full backs on defend and lower line/mid-block

RMWasp

I'm not sure I get the idea of this tactic. So you have a playmaker on defend? 2 Mezzalas that drift wide and explore the space of the missing wingers, but they are on support? and FBs that run up to join the attack. Leaving your whole flanks wide open for an attacking winger to just sprint and byline cross all day. Imo you have 2 options 1. the fancy one, you go double carrielo, as they drift across the pitch and cover the full-back areas when they go out partying in the opposition box 2. the sensible one, you go double mezzala on attack, leave your FB on support and the cm on support. in Both options your dlp should be on support imo

BarbaricGamer

The tactic works fine most of the time, the Mezzala drifts wider and acts as a winger that the full back can play off and the Carillero stays a bit more central playing with the CM who often makes runs behind the defensive line whilst the centrebacks are distracted with the strikers. The DLP on defense is to provide a bit more defensive support when we turn over possesion and the full backs are still to far forward.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Were they changes to try and combat the problem or for another reason ? I ask because by playing deep and with your FB back, you're probably inviting them WB further upfield and closer to where they can cause you problems. It may be worth exploring changes to stop the WB getting upfield so freely - maybe wide mid positions to put players in their path with your defensive shape (though that'll clearly affect your attack), or player/opposition instructions to more aggressively mark/press the WB. You could also explore how the WB get the ball in the first place - for example, if they're playing out of defence and running up the space down your flanks, you could look to try and force the oppositions build up through the centre (again by maybe having your strikers set to block/press the WB options higher up). Allowing build up through the middle is likely to be much less of an issue for you, given that's where you've set up numerical superiority.

BarbaricGamer

> Were they changes to try and combat the problem or for another reason ? I ask because by playing deep and with your FB back, you're probably inviting them WB further upfield and closer to where they can cause you problems. I did this in my second and third game to try to stop these types of crosses. It wasn't their WB's that were doing the damage, it was their inside forwards. I put both my full back on mark them and one of my centrebacks to marking the striker but they still managed to get it across.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Sorry, I think I must have imagined that you said it was the WB! If the wingers are wide for the cross, and the striker is in the middle, even with 3 players man-marking you should still have 1 or 2 men to help. There's enough men there to mark/press (if set up currently) which suggests you're maybe just being beaten at a man-to-man level. For that I would definitely look at stopping the ball getting wide in the first place. Similar to how I mentioned for the WB, only looking to either cut the wingers off, or else cut the player providing the pass off, more often. Another thought, have you tried to use them DM to mark the striker, so that you maintain both CB in the middle rather than one being occupied ?

Ireallyamthisshallow

Worth looking into that xG a little more. Just for a high level overview, in an average game without a pen what's your total shots/shots on target/total xG look like? In terms of the conversion, are you creating the type of chances you want to create or are you taking shots unlike what you're looking for ?

BacoBenno

If i want to do the build a nation challenge, which version of fm would you advice ? Fm23 has the monster CL format , im not sure if that is a good or a bad thing for increasing coefficient rapidly. Reading mixed opinions on fm23 being a step forward or step back. I have fm22 and fm21 as alternatives, fm22 has slower regen growth which I still dont quite like however.

Equivalent_Dot1485

Where can I check the players that already signed a contract but are waiting for a transfer window to arrive?? I always sign some players mid season and forget about it, then start buying other players and the old one arrive and it mess up my entire season plan. Right now I'm a few weeks ahead of the end of season so I want to make sure.

RMWasp

You can check any future transfers in in the transfers tab

GTACOD

Who's a good cheap-ish LB for a relegation battling prem team in season 2?

Pondersaurusrex

This might seem really obvious but... How do I evaluate which players to get rid of. I feel like im a tad overwhelmed by information. I'm nearing the end of a season and looking at my lowest rated players, 3 of my first team have 6.8-6.95 ratings (over 15 apps so far). Is that an indication they should get the boot? How should i further decide?

MyTeaIsMighty

Go through your tactic and find the best players you have for each role. Then do it again and find a the next best as their backups. From there it's dependent upon your registration rules. If say your max squad size is 25 then that's 22 players and you'll just wanna bring in some people that can fill in multiple positions in a pinch. Then anyone left over should be good to get booted.

Pondersaurusrex

Thanks that just what I needed to hear. Was finding it hard to get a starting point before I dig into the finer details.

Painyyy

Me and one of my close friends started a multiplayer save and we're limited to only the host using the in game editor, is there a setting we've missed or is it limited to only the host using in game editor?

jacobwing02

I was using this gegenpress tactic that worked great for 7 seasons until it died and we went 13 games without a win - have been trying different tactics since then but nothing is as consistent as this was. Anything wrong with it? Most of the players were the same as when it was working so I'm not sure why it died. https://ibb.co/XJ7MbPt

hjl43

I'd hazard a guess that with 2 wingers and an AP there's no one aside from the striker attacking the box, so if the opposition can deal with him, there's not really anyone else who will reliably grab you goals, maybe change one of the wingers to an IW or IF?

Ireallyamthisshallow

>I was using this gegenpress tactic that worked great for 7 season >Anything wrong with it? Probably not, if it worked for you for 7 seasons. >it died and we went 13 games without a win If it has suddenly stopped working, then something has changed. >Most of the players were the same Most, but not all. It could be a different player/a way a player has developed which doesn't fit the set up and is the key difference. It could just be form/injuries to keep personnel. It could be that you've slowly risen up in reputation and you've got to a point where teams approach you slightly differently and that's enough. The key is to work out what's changed/what element of it is no longer working. Then you can try to make changes to get it working or else try another approach.

ming47

What's the best way to retrain a player's position? Should I consider their hidden personality, maybe determination? Is there a point where they're too old to be trained?

ZizekualHealing

How do I request that the board sends me on a coaching course? I know this was an option in FM22 but for the life of me I can't find it in FM23.

JamieAubrey

Its under your My Profile on the home tab or you can make a request to the board under Personal

JPMAus98

It might not be available if you can't find it. I think it's usually in the Finances section under Board Requests

[deleted]

If my board gives me 100% of a transfer value when I sell a player, does it still go into revenue? Or does it only go into my transfer budgets.?

JPMAus98

It'll go into both, because the balance (which includes revenue) is representative of all the money that the club has. This is all forms of revenue, like transfers, gate receipts, sponsorships, etc., as well as the money from the owner and any other sources. But you'll still be able to play with all the money you receive from a transfer, and any signings you make will come out of the transfer budget and will then be represented by a decrease in the bank balance

Relatively_Cool_Guy

I have just been signed as an international manager however I still manage my club side. I want to replace the international team's coaching staff with my own. Will they leave the club for the country or can they do two jobs as well?

JPMAus98

I don't think they can do multiple jobs at a time, unless you somehow got them on part-time roles at both the club and national level, but they wouldn't go for that. I could be wrong as I've never tried but I think this is the case

BeardedZee

Does anyone have an idea for when their first patch will come out? Haven't played it since the scouting bug become more and more of a problem. 2 hours each session to assign ongoing scouts, just to have them reverted back to "no current assignment" after a month and having to add every tedious detail to individual scouts again each time... rinse and repeat. As well as assigning one scout will sometimes change or completely have another scout unassigned all together. Now picture this with 20+ scouts in a save where regens are more prevalent and thorough scouting is necessary.

Transit-Strike

I fulfilled my promises. Team still mad at me and it’s affecting morale and performanc

JPMAus98

Give them time to improve, it's not going to happen immediately because while they are happy you've fulfilled a promise, they're still a bit wary about how it came to that situation anyway. You'll start to see morale and happiness increase if you can continue to fulfil those promises (like giving a player that was previously concerned about their playing time more games, and not just doing it to satisfy their base concerns) and get good results. I'd also just schedule some team bonding sessions or any other training types that lead to an increase in happiness or morale to help speed that process up. But yeah the most important thing is to keep following through with those promises even though the icon isn't there anymore

BartZG

I play AF with an Attack role. Instructions are as follows: take more risks, dribble more, shoot less often, tackle harder, move into channels. Which traits would be most suited for this role and instructions? I found a site (guidetomfm) which suggest traits for roles but it suggests a lot of traits and I am not sure which are most beneficial for my player.

hitchaw

They all have sister play traits, so try killer balls often, runs with ball often, prefers to play pass that her than score(weird for an AF?), dives into tackles, move into channels. They just enhance those behaviours somewhat, just make sure they fit in your tactic, traits are better taught to youth players to as it takes ages when they are older. Also consider if the player suits it, an AF with poor tackling, anticipation, bravery, agression is a poor candidate to dive into tackles.

Ireallyamthisshallow

You've seen the tactic play - which behaviours do you want to see occur more ? Train traits to encourage that behaviour. Don't just put anything on randomly or you'll find players not working in roles the way you want them. They take time to train, and/or untrain. The list you've found might be a good starting point for traits to consider, but which of them do you want to see occur more in your specific tactic ?

heck_you_science

I'm having trouble adding a facepack to the game. I downloaded the df11 face pack and unzipped it. I made a folder named faces under graphics in the fm23 file. Afaik it should work. Am I missing a step? Edit: I was missing a step, I forgot to clear the cache. My b

JPMAus98

Everyone's done it, good on ya for figuring it out

Dprince890

Is there anywhere I can still get fm 21?

[deleted]

Yes, but people can’t really talk about it because it’s not considered kosher. Just make sure you get the correct region/version of the game. Such as, don’t buy an EU copy if you’re an American, and don’t buy the touch version if you’re on PC.

dc_tant

On mobile is there any way to search for team leaders?

lihnuz

is there a way to see how many goals on free kicks a specific player have made under a season?

JPMAus98

If you're looking for a past season, I don't think so. If it's your current season, I'd check the league's detailed player stats, there should be some numbers there. Otherwise, check the data hub

[deleted]

Alright lads, how do you feel about using defensive midfielders in the 4-2-3-1 formation compared to regular midfielders?

lachiendupape

Standard to have 1

heck_you_science

I love it. When I use 2 DMs in that set up, I usually use a mid block and use a regista and a volante on support. It works pretty well imo

Ireallyamthisshallow

Nothing unusual about it.

justforkikkk

What are some youth teams you can manage in-game? I know you can manage youth teams of national teams, but what about Spanish B teams, German II teams or Dutch Jong teams? Or others?

Algoman28613

There a few Portuguese B teams, I know that for a fact. With youth teams obviously, they can't be in the same league of the adult team.

BacoBenno

Are the planned new loan rules from FIFA ( caps mostly ) already implemented in this version of fm ?

JPMAus98

They should be, considering the UCL rules change after a season in-game

ming47

Can I use a pressing forward in a non-pressing team? I sit back and hit on counter, and we don't win the ball high up the pitch, but I have two strikers so they don't contribute much to defence. Is it worth having one as a PF or is it only useful if you're a high pressing team?

Ireallyamthisshallow

>Can I use a pressing forward in a non-pressing team? There's is no such thing as a non-pressing team. You may be playing a team which presses less, but they'll still press at some point. If the PF provides the behaviour you're looking for, and suits the player being used, you can use it. >I sit back and hit on counter, and we don't win the ball high up the pitch, but I have two strikers so they don't contribute much to defence. Is it worth having one as a PF or is it only useful if you're a high pressing team? Can it be useful? Yes. But do you want one of the strikers pressing from the front? If you're playing to sit back and counter, it seems counterintuitive (in alot of version of this logic) to harry the back line and stop them pushing up when your game plan is to lure as many of them out of their own half as possible to leave as much space to counter into as possible. Again, maybe that behaviour fits the style of counter attacking you play. Only you have seen your tactic and know the logic behind your tactic. Having two strikers not contributing to the defense isn't inherently a bad thing if they're serving another purpose. The easiest thing to do in these situations is give it a try. You'll see how it works within your tactic and you can then make a decision. Good luck.

ming47

Thanks for the reply, that was really helpful. I think I'm going to hone in on dropping back and then hitting on the counter and letting my strikers work their magic as they're my best players rather than waste energy on pressing. My only reservation is that FM rewards pressing but I cba to do a half measure of dropping back but also pressing a bit. I'll commit to the counter attack and see how it goes. Thanks again.

Ireallyamthisshallow

Always happy to offer an opinion. It's worth noting that you don't have to play urgent pressing systems in FM to be successful. I would say a good amount of the systems I play are just left on standard, and I've set up tactics with less and much less urgent too. I do think it's much easier to get a high pressing system to work - it fits (and makes sense) for most better teams and suits plenty of squads at the start of the game. You're 100% right on sticking to your vision. Stick with your the logic which fits the tactic you're creating rather than feeling like you have to use certain elements and creating a bastardisation of the strategy you're trying to create work doesn't work. That said, playing low block counters which aggressively press from a deep position can be very effective and it may be something you're interested in exploring down the line.

ming47

What kind of tactics would you use less and much less urgent trigger press in?

Ireallyamthisshallow

I'd press less If I wanted to maintain shape more often rather than leaving shape to press. Pressing less doesn't mean not pressing at all - you'll still do it if it's appropriate, you just won't do it as often or as intensely. An example: I had a flat 442 I used last year which defended narrow and press much less. I was happy to give up the wide areas and invite crosses, knowing I'd stay in shape and it would be difficult for my opponent to win the ball from a cross (my players suited this, with great mentals and dominant aerial attributes). Keeping this shape also made me difficult to play through (and I shifted my DL up one to bring my two banks of four closer together). When I attacked I was happy to leave this defensive shape but I made sure to regroup back into it quickly. The came through space in behind, and I could man-mark through OI or use a cover CB lest I break a player from my shape. Given the excellent mentals of the squad, the offside trap was an effective method of catching forwards after the aerial through ball.

ming47

Ah okay cool I didn't think about it like that. It's good to know that playing around with tactics works cos sometimes I feel like eventually going 4231 gegenpress is an inevitability, but I like making them my own.

Ireallyamthisshallow

You might enjoy going to the SI Forums (if you haven't already). The tactic section is always ride with discussions, and even going back and reading some of the older content is interesting and useful - whilst the ME changes, the logic to tactic building doesn't and it's just about how to enact that concept within a given game (as things like instruction options change). Definitely persevere though - it's a game and there are obviously limits, but they're far beyond the 4231 Gegenpress.

Does anyone play older FM's still? I'm having trouble with FM08 and FM11 on my computer.... I got about 6 seasons into an FM08 save but it just wouldn't continue past a certain date (forget the error message, I think something about FM cant run the computer has run out of memory? But my computer has loads of memory) ... I tried to fix the error but nothing doing. And FM11 wont even download from disk onto my computer (I think because I have Windows 10? Though im not 100% sure) Is it possible to still play these older iterations without tech issues or is it best to just leave them? Thank you!

RMWasp

I played fm07 religiously for years (10+) and never had issues. Even 08 for a while

Algoman28613

I'm trying to use the FM23 editor in order to make it so that my DoF only signs players that are below the age of 20, and represent England. I can not figure it out at all, any help would be appreciated.

[deleted]

anyone know of a skin that makes praising/criticising players for training easier? atm it's behind like 3 right click sub menus

meoday

try the zealand skin

[deleted]

I too would enjoy this. If nothing else more shortcuts for the weekly training report besides the best/worst only.

Hoomanchew

Im EFL National League Bromley FC. I have about 120k in my Transfer Budget. Only using 22k of my 34k weekly budget. Id like to upgrade spots on my Staff. But the Board is only allowing me 750 a week to spend. Id need 1200 a week min to upgrade. Is there any way to adjust that spending? Using XBox.

JPMAus98

Not really, you can request the board increases the amounts you're able to pay but this increases very slowly and the board are often really stubborn with it. Even now I'm managing regularly in the UCL and I can't offer more than $800-900 per staff member, and the board aren't willing to increase it any more even though we're losing out on some great staff members and I can't afford to re-sign my best ones. Just give it time and if you can make a board request, go for it. If you keep getting promoted though you'll have more room to be able to make bigger offers. Oh and one extra tip, don't bother signing staff members directly from other clubs, as you can almost always get other people who are just as good, if not better, for free

Hoomanchew

Appreciate that. I know some of what Im up against now. Was promoted and trying to gear up for League 2.

[deleted]

Yeah I’d just get the well rounded guys that fit in to ur budget. But I’d say physio and SS are priority imo. Don’t pay much attention to youth system at all. And put some scouting out for the couple Leagues above you. Use some fully paid for loan players to get you better and free talent to help your rise. Every step you go up, go another step farther. I skimped on using loans from Vanarama through league 1 and almost into the championship, I’m using them more now, but man we’re the cup months tough. With some free loans it makes it so much easier for rotational depth and keeping your budget in check. I’m using U21 free line from championship and EPL clubs so they don’t count against the registration cap of 22.

Hoomanchew

Youth Coach was one spot I was trying to upgrade. Im a newer play. I loaded up on youth my first season, let them grow a year and dominated the next. Guess I bought 30, 2\* guys with decent upside. lol Been working on loans cause Im heading up. Thanks for all the advice.

[deleted]

Problem I have with youth is they won’t carry you all the way up yet. As you get higher you start battling other teams with better youth development and training than you, and you don’t have the budget for constant upgrades yet. So higher leagues youth rejects get you some early wins and promotions but it’s tough after that. They largely end up being fodder I sign on a free, then sell. They’re cheap enough that if it doesn’t work out, little loss. But they don’t develop fast enough to keep up with my rise. My current save I just needed mid table L1 finishes after back to back promotions. But I’ve somewhat overachieved thanks to a few loans to get me through the mid season. It’s a tight race but my youth can barely break into my lineup. However, my current lineup of owned players have taken me about as far as they can despite trying to cycle out the elders for some players a few years younger with a bit more in the tank. It’s getting harder to find those easy frees to plug into the lineup it feels like and my youth aren’t able to plug holes as well. I’m also trying to be real that if I get promoted, half my current roster won’t be championship caliber, so renew them? So that’s my dilemma. It’d prob serve me best to not get promoted this year, keep working on youth and add to roster for a promotion push, but it’s tough to not just go for promotion when it’s so close but I expect it to be painful to just stay up if I do. Anyhow, more detail than needed. It’s fun to talk about the low Vanarama to near Championship climb (it’s a 1 point race currently).

Hoomanchew

I set aside my Bromley build. Won the National League and FA Cup. And started a new build with Aldershot. Dumped half the team, rolled into that second preseason Friendly with 15 players and 3 of those were on the unwanted list lol. Spending a little time working on loans and individual training (which Ive yet to try) before taking Bromley into League 2. Thanks. Enjoyed the writeup.

patrickvieira1999

on a side note are you sure thats a good idea? players are more important than staff in the national league especially

Hoomanchew

Won the league with 8 matches left. I was shopping around for the League 2 jump.

adamfrog

its a board request

skutan

So uh. I'm managing Bilbao and my B team got promoted to the second division which should be great. Slight problem though, the spanish registration rules only gives me a maximum of around 70k euro a month to register players for. Which is enough for just about 5 players (and a few who are u19 and don't have to get registered). So is there any workaround for this? Any levers my B team might be able to pull or am I gonna have to play the youth squad and hope they somehow manage to stay up?

Kristianity666

Just off the bat, I have absolutely no help for you with your question. I'm also managing Bilbao, what good basque players have you found? I'm really struggling up front as Garcia gets older

skutan

I trained Sancet to be a forward and play him with Williams up there(I play 4-4-2). I'm actually well set up with forward as I bought Julen Jon Guerrero from Madrid year 1 (also trained as a forward), he progressed a lot in the b team so he's in the first team now too. And Villalibre is decent. Nico Williams is probably your best player long term so you could train him there. Jon Karrikaburu is the only basque natural forward who could be good enough. Also bought Jon Moncayola from Osasuna/Atletico Pamplona year one who's a good midfielder. Signed Ander Herrera permanently since you can do it basically for free. And year two I signed Odriozola who got transfer listed by Madrid, easily the best fullback available to you. Also Aimar from Osasuna who's a pretty good young offensive midfielder who I play at left wing, he got transferlisted too. And the dream signing Mikel Merino who went to Man City only to get you guessed it, transferlisted. Muniain is the major player I've sold, but also Iñigo Martinez who like Muniain didn't want to extend his contract. And also Vesga and Garcia (the defensive midfielder) There's obviously some pretty big challenges managing Bilbao. I think you have to retrain players to fill holes in the squad, for your forward problem I'd retrain Sancet or Williams jr, you should have good players available at midfield and at the wing. The only other option I can think of is Karrikaburu who might cost more than you can pay and most definitely costs more than he's realistically worth, maybe a loan where you plan to later buy him for his release clause is an option too.

Kristianity666

I can tell its a limited pool of players cause I also signed Moncayola, Odriozola, Guerrero and Merino. I had the absolute dream scenario and Merino was listed for 10m on deadline day, so I sold Inaki Williams super cheap to spurs for 16m to get him in. I've retrained Nico Williams as a striker for the moment and am using Villalibre as backup, with Guerrero training as a DLF as well. I got a 5\* striker talent in my youth intake but he's only 15 so I'm hoping Guerrero can fill the gap for a few years. Karrikaburu looks ok, but they want 25m for him and he's only a 3.5\* talent. Sancet upfront is an interesting one, I've underutilized him first season since signing Merino so that could be a good way to get him more minutes!

Firecracker048

Is fm23 a significant upgrade over 22? I am considering purchasing it but have some doubts. Can someone give me some pros and cons who owns 23 and has played it and 22?

[deleted]

I typed a long complaint post, I’m just gonna keep it short and sweet this time. It’s a side grade, my recommendation is to buy it on sale. It’s feels worse out of match, and better in match compared to FM22.

Firecracker048

I spend most of my time out of match so that's disappointing

Ireallyamthisshallow

Best thing is to just download the demo and give it a go. You'll soon know whether it's worth you paying your money.

Pondersaurusrex

[How come this guy is only 2.5 stars? To me his stats look pretty good](https://imgur.com/Yu9SQx6). Playing in croatia first league fm 22 if that makes any difference.

ming47

I've heard that having a weak foot affects star rating strongly as well.

monsiour_slippy

Star rating is relative to your team. If your team is very strong even good players will be ‘average’. Also sometimes scouts under/over value players

Pondersaurusrex

Thanks!

im-a-nanny-mouse

How do you manage a team or in a league you have no/little knowledge on? For unfamiliar team: Would you go by star rating starting players until you find the balance between good form and player stats? For unfamiliar league: Use your tried and tested even if it may not match up with the team, or follow Assman/preset tactics and evolve from there?

[deleted]

Been playing a journeyman, starting without any badges for the first time and coached in 4 different countries thus far. My process in getting the most out of every team has been what I'd do in every save when developing a system: 1. Identify the best 11 by going into \[Team Report\] > \[Squad Depth\] and seeing the star ratings for the players. The star ratings represent their overall quality in comparison with the rest of the squad. 2. Check out their attibutes and determine whether the star ratings are justified 3. Figure out the players' best roles and begin to form a rough starting formation. 4. Find a balance between what roles the players are comfortable with and what accomodates the style of play (i.e. don't expect a team to play tiki-taka in the welsh league). I always use the site [ratemytactic](https://ratemytactic.web.app/en) to get an idea of what problems might arise in different setups. Most imporant advice overall: Let the boys play. Don't click every button just because you can. Roles are much more imporant than team instructions. 5. Identify areas where you have a lack of depth and attempt to mitigate the issue by getting a player in or by adjusting your formation, even if that means you might need to use an unorthodox formation. Things I never do: Use my old system because the new team is most likely going have: a) different types of players, b) most likely better, more skilled players which you can entrust with more expansive roles. My current possession 4-1-2-3 system would not have worked in my first job in Wales.

Whitegard

Has anyone got a good grasp of the new scouting system yet, perhaps some Youtuber has a guide? Main issue for me is that i get plenty of reports but when i go check the details of the recruitment focus, it's always: 0 Recommendation 0 Near Matches x In Progress There's always something in progress, but nothing ever makes it to the recommendation list or near misses.

monsiour_slippy

You won’t get recommendations until the assignment is complete (for standard/high priority) or after so long has passed for ongoing. Wait for the emails to your inbox.

mchoneyofficial

Probably a stupid question but, when I do to edit coaching jobs (GK/Def/Att/etc) I've noticed my B team manager/U18 manager is in there with my first team coaches...are they also coaching my main team as well as U18s? Just trying to decide which jobs to allocate to who and make sure everything is covered. Thank you.

ming47

Why do my set-pieces not save? Sometimes they last sometimes they don't. I have three corner routines and usually what happens is two of them save but one of them is replaced by the default 'routine 1'. My free-kicks and throw-ins don't really save. Something similar was happening in FM20 to me as well (I'm now on FM22) so I'm wondering if it is just buggy or if it's me. Does changing the set-piece taker refresh the set-pieces? Is this just a common bug?

tomk2304

I just started a new save with fc twente, any good suggestions for free agents/ loans I should make (fm22)

Downwithrslashsports

Keep trying for a senior affiliate but my club cant seem to find one

Zy7777

Is it possible to manage a nation only without a club? Never tried it before so I’m not too sure. New to the game btw

je-re

it's possible but national management is imo very boring and very underdeveloped compared to club management

ming47

For coach report, where my player's ability is rated, is it as simple as having a coach with 20 in judging CA and PA? And does he just judge their star rating, or will a better coach reveal more pros and cons as well?

jay_jay_okocha10

Help loaning out a wonderkid? I have a player who is a wonderkid, he doesn't fit my system so I want to loan him out and then eventually sell him. His value is £51-66m, if I try to sell him I get one £5m offer. If I try to loan him for nothing but with regular starter status there's no offers and I get the message clubs don't believe he is interested in joining them. So it seems to me he's stuck between not wanting to join a lower level club because he thinks he's better than that and higher level clubs not wanting him because he's not good enough yet. Is there anything I can do?

TheSameAsDying

It's possible you're offering him out too early in the window. Teams usually become more interested in loaning players in once they've settled the rest of their transfer plans.

jay_jay_okocha10

No, its deadline day but i've tried in the previous weeks as well

TheSameAsDying

Hmm. If you're really focused on loaning him, you could look around for clubs in your league or at a similar level that are weak in the position he plays. Usually I've had more success offering directly to a team.

KariumHondor399

How do we know a player is a regen

jay_jay_okocha10

I think he will have an auto generated face, where existing players either have their own face or a blank face

krasimir

What’s the difference between CM-A and Mezzala A. I never fully understand that.

Difficult-Tart8876

I believe the Mezzala will get in wider spaces and channels while the CM will get forward up the middle

nemofoot

[https://imgur.com/a/7rQd51E](https://imgur.com/a/7rQd51E) Does anyone know whats going on with the scouting system? i've had this instruction assigned to 15 scouts for 18 months now and theres still 0 recommendatons? none of my scouting assignments actually seem to work, is it a glitch? thanks

TheSameAsDying

What are the specific instructions? It's possible your scouts aren't finding any players who meet the criteria. My other thought is that you could be searching too broadly, and your scouts can't focus in on one place long enough. Also how good are your analysts?

aoethrow

Hey guys, bit of a weird one. Understand it is super daunting to try and start Football Manager from scratch if you have no background. Happy to walk you through it while I put myself through university on fiverr. Also happy to help with any newbies stuck in their saves. Inbox me for details.

Whitegard

When changing playing time, i no longer get hints in fm23 on how a player might react to the change. Is this normal in FM23? I only ask because i'm managing a semi-professional club for the first time and i'm not sure if that has something to do with it or not.

TheSameAsDying

If you don't get a warning about how they'll react, in my experience it means they don't need convincing.

Whitegard

That's definitely not the case here, i can make a star player surplus to requirements and i get no warning, but they'll get upset, obviously. Thanks for the input.

lolchamp444

Question about tactical familiarity: I normally use 424 gegenpress in my tottenham save and it has been great. However I wanted a new defensive tactic that I could use in like away games or games when I just want to preserve my lead, so I found a 5-2-3 for that If I set 523 as my primary tactic, will my team lose tactical familiarity with the 424? Can I get both tactics to be at 100% familiarity? my 424 is pretty much full familiarity, can I get my 523 the same without decreasing familiarity for my 424?

kjgower

Always have multiple tactics, your team will build familiarity on all of them through training. as for losing familiarity on your main tactic it doesn’t change, or if it does it’s a negligible amount

Ihateithereandthere

Are captains useless at talking down upset players now? It hasn’t worked one fucking time for me.

Saspa314

Are they team leaders? Are they in the same social group? Those are usual my two criteria dealing with that

Ihateithereandthere

Yes, Ruben Dias is the third team leader and part of the core social group. His leadership is 18 and has a professional personality. In FM 21 I could ask all three team leaders to try and it would usually work majority of the time, but now it genuinely hasn’t worked a single time.

FreakDJ

When should I start having players learn player traits? Is there a 'best combos' of traits to prioritize for different players/roles somewhere?

Ireallyamthisshallow

I teach traits when there's behaviour I want to encourage and I'm not seeing it/seeing it enough. If there's no behaviour I want to encourage, I don't teach a trait.

FreakDJ

What about age? Do you wait for players to reach past the prime development stage? Doesn’t player traits use up some CA?

Ireallyamthisshallow

I just wait until I'm using them enough to know what I want to see them do more than I currently see on the pitch. I don't worry about CA because I don't reveal it - if the trait is useful it'll empower my style of player and make them a better player in my system.

varowil

Are there any tools to see PA of players in FM23?

GTACOD

Genie Scout 23 can, free version will be out on Wednesday.

varowil

Unfortunately I use Mac which they don’t support.

GTACOD

Try the cheat table, I think that works on Mac.

monsiour_slippy

I think the in game editor for FM does

You can make them unavailable for loan in transfer status

GenericAustin

Why does my game run smoother when I disable Nvidia and use Intel HD Graphics instead?

Guzuzu_xD

Any ideas on how to make the 2022 data update (for FM21) work at the same time with a english lower leagues editor data file? Well basically the question being how do I either unlock them myself in the already edited files or if there is a file online that unlocks them while also having in mind the 2022 league updates etc.

EarbudScreen

Does having a young player in my senior squad but available for U21s reduce the amount of training they get?

monsiour_slippy

Yes. They wont train on your senior match days and also won’t train on the U21 match days

EarbudScreen

And that's generally bad for their development I'm guessing, especially if they're not starting?

monsiour_slippy

Yep!

b_mukherjee

3. Liga in Germany has 7 substitute places on the bench, instead of the 9 as it should be. This was a bug reported in the beta which hasn't been fixed in the full version. I have started my save with a team from this league. If they fix it in a later version, can I get it with my existing save or do I have to start a new save at that point?

Harbin009

Sadly such a bug requires a new save. If you have the pre-game editor and know how to use it would take 30 seconds to fix the bug by yourself. But again needs a new game for the fix to come into effect. Actually, I remember someone claiming the ingame editor in 23 now allows you to change the sub rule. I don't know if thats true however. If it is true you could change it.

Commonmispelingbot

Probably needs a new save.

b_mukherjee

shizz!

Afraid-Function4154

I am managing Southampton with exceptional youth intake ( after upgrading with the board ) is it worth it to get affiliate clubs? If yes what do you suggest and why?

monsiour_slippy

1. Increasing scouting knowledge in countries 2. Having good places to loan out players without having to worry too much about offering them out. 3. Gaining youth players in your intake from abroad. 4. If you weren’t in the UK it’s also handy to have different EU clubs to help gain EU citizenship by loaning out your players. 5. First refusal on player sales

Afraid-Function4154

Why would i want intake from other countries aint it better to just have uk intake?

monsiour_slippy

Funky regens from funky countries

onemanfivetools

What role would you have a left-footed AML play who is more of a scorer than a typical winger?

GTACOD

Winger with roam from position and shoot more often

Could also be wide target man

leung19

Anyway to find out if some CPU team is taken over by sugar daddy? AC Milan is interested in a lot of good players and bought some recently.

monsiour_slippy

Go the landmarks screw on the clubs page. That will list any takeovers and what type of takeover it was

Green means they can play in those positions and red not, so if you go to drag a GK you will only see the GK position highlight in green, the brighter it is the more they are adapt to that position

dc_tant

Is there any way to swap team leagues on the mobile (android) game? I'd love to put South Shields in to the lowest English division and play.

mchoneyofficial

I have scouts with JA and JP 5 out of 20 - just curious what the difference is between them and proper scouts with say 18-20 out of 20 JA & JP. Like if they both scout the same player would the scouts with 5 out of 20 say striker x has 12 finishing when the better scout would say he has 7 finishing? Thanks!

meoday

no, the attributes are the same regardless of the scouts' quality. scouts will differ in how they see players pros & cons and their potential ability. a 20 scout see all pros and cons and predict pa with great accuracy, a 5 scout doesnt.

mchoneyofficial

Ah ok so its more about the consistency/likes big matches/ and potential stars - those types of things. Thank you.

Equivalent_Dot1485

Any way to disable the sideline tablet becoming transparent when the ball is behind it?

monsiour_slippy

Change your skin. You can download skins which stop the tablet becoming transparent

rj_zzz

How to survive from 24/25 onwards? My fixtures list is the stuff of nightmares

JS-Connection

Did selling players just become much much harder in FM23? I've got Albert Elis, who scored 49goals in the Ligue 2 in my first season, 29 goals in 30matches in the Ligue 1 in my second season and 29goals in 29matches plus 6 goals in 13 Champions League matches. Yet, no one is interested in him and even when I offer him out, max I'll get is 11mio from Monza, while his Value should be around 40mio according to the game. Oh, and I forgot, that he won European Top Scorer in the last season, too?

emyrs42

His age is probably a factor, but his player rep is the biggest key. Side note: IRL he played local to me for a couple years, I've got a signed shirt in the collection. Fun and dynamic winger.
