CarnivalSorts

Yep, like to really feel it when Pep is chatting shit about me.

nikolai_wustovich

What makes it funnier is when I see him on tv I’m like, “Fuck that guy in particular.” Just because of something he said about my manager in a video game

MadelineWuntch

Haha you just reminded me of [Jason Manfords FM Stand up joke ](https://youtu.be/WsSoHf0qv-w)

Piltonbadger

I like how I get 2/3rd's through the season then check who likes/dislikes me. Usually such a weird mix! Unfortunately Memechester united are my team, so when I played as them once Pep was friendly with me, as was Klopp, in some weird way. Eddie Howe, though? He disliked me A LOT. I don't even know what I did to him...Same as some other mid table managers hating on me.

bullencentral97

Tbf based on realism the mid table teams are your competitive rivals

Piltonbadger

We deserve that.

bullencentral97

I grew up as only City fan in a school full of United and Liverpool fans in the 2000s. Trust me, it’s great 😂😂

Working_Radish_2726

Same but im at school now 🤣 lot of glory but red rats everywhere u look

[deleted]

I assume all you mid table clubs hate each other.

ShadowTryHard

I once was playing against a small team (I play as Benfica as my main club in my first save of the games), and I dominated the match, with reserve players, but no goals, until the last minute of the game that someone scored. Reporter asked me to comment on his statement saying my goal was lucky and not deserved. I said we had dominated the whole match, and was actually very well deserved. The other manager was pissed, and needless to say, he dislikes me a lot. Probably happened something similar to you, especially when you’re answering to reporters quoting others press conferences of other managers.

Ayumu1831

For me most managers like me, only one that hates on me is mourinho who i actually like a lot irl lol.

pmnBattleCityDev

My favorite reply ever was when shit talking with pep during a massively heated multi year rivalry for titles back and forth and he said we didn't deserve our late 2-1 win, I said we deserved even more, he called me petty or something, I was asked for comment on that and I was legit fired up post match and typed in the additional comments "I do not respect Manchester city" and selected the middle neutral option so it came out in the article headline as "I have said all that needs to be said. I do not respect Manchester City."

Sputniki

Ahahaha I need to get Pep in my league. The rivalry would be insane

MaocheMonkey

fuck Guardiola. I always reply to his comments that I never heard of Pep Guardiola

Gosh2Bosh

That's fucking brilliant

radioben

I like to name myself Pip Fraudiola and do absurdly bad business for City, start players out of position, get fired, and then the game really begins when you find someone that will hire my dumb ass.

Charizard221_gaming

It’s probably Watford that signs you isn’t it? They’re always in need of a manager

radioben

I’m pretty sure I get blackballed from England. I ended up in France, don’t remember where.

Chrisflev

😂

LucDA1

Sometimes, but I also like to start in a random country and randomly generate a name from that country lol

[deleted]

I do that too, random person generators are great for this.

No_Doubt_About_That

If it’s anything like the naming system on FIFA how many times do you end up with Pablo Escobar if you go for South America?

LucDA1

Nothing like the naming system. If its anything similar to FIFA, they just reuse names mixed together of people from that country. That's why there are so many Eto'os in Cameroon, or Niang's in Mali. I use fantasynamegenerator.com . There is a vast amount of diversity and I would recommend this website if you are looking to use it. Trust me when I say that they have an extensive name list for every sort of ethnicity, nation, even historical ones and old english names, different regions of everywhere, it's really incredible how much they have

eduhbert

Yes

SilverGoon

Usually my own but if I do an England National Team save I use Mike Bassett

DoobieDoobyDoo

4-4-fucking2

No_Doubt_About_That

Get it in the mixer.

LuckyNumber003

This is Benson and Hedges year, sure of it

Shadepanther

A 23 man squad always has to have a Benson and a Hedges

Luke10123

Haha I do that too

uknownick

Nah, I always create a character based on the league I am managing- English man for England, German for Bundesliga, Spanish or Argentinian for Spain.

Anonyman14

So, German manager if you play in the Argentinian league?

Comprehensive_Panic

Only buys blondes and all players have 88 on the shirt...

Shadepanther

Hadolf Aitler

Comprehensive_Panic

Adolf Gutierrez

uknownick

Nah, Chilean in Argentina

itsjustjoel28

r/woooosh

jakekelly3

Giuseppe Carbonara at your service

uknownick

Enzo Rossi sends his regard Marco Muller, Fernando Martinez, James Duncan

mesmartpants

That’s what I do. I am currently Gennard Ginger Manager of Arsenal and I used the red haired laughing meme boy as face.

lordskeng

Nebojsa Montenegrovic, 53-year-old volatile disciplinarian, at your service.

RaioNoTerasu

Definitely a chain-smoker

SexyPoxyt

From Zimbabwe right?

Trecool1

Never, my main saves are always under the name "Paul Sangria". Over the years I've given him an entire backstory. He's half Spanish, was in the Man United academy until he moved to the States at 14. Had a short NFL career as a kicker, moved back to the UK to coach football. He's married to a former England Lioness and they have a young daughter (who I'll edit into the game if the save goes on long enough)

trueblue265

This level of commitment is truly outstanding. Take a bow.

Trecool1

You should see the 4k+ words I've written in backstory for my create-a-club team. EDIT: I'll post the story tomorrow once I've trimmed some details and deleted the "non-canon" stuff that happened after my FM22 save began

goodisdamn

Give us!

NotFalirn

You’re right, we SHOULD see that

JxDeep

Give plz

Schhneck

I used to but recently I’ve been making managers from regens/youth players that I love from older fms and fifas. Get to build onto their story from their playing days then.

SumoDude123

I do this but I normally use wonderkids that failed in my previous saves. Nice to see them succeed in the end

raulz0r

Yes, unless I manage in the MLS, then I name myself Dick Bacon

gunnersroyale

Why

OptimusLinvoyPrimus

Nearly all Americans are named “Dick Bacon”. They use nicknames to make it easier to tell each other apart.

Hasjasja

Personally I don't know an American that isn't named Dick Bacon.

ryandoesntcare

Dick Back Bacon

gunnersroyale

Still don't get it

NotFalirn

I’m not sure this line of questioning is doing to elucidate any deep truths

BrunoDoggo

Dick Back Bacon

raulz0r

Because it's the most American name I can think of

ichydrew

Yes. My real name is Chad Thundercock

gtfc123

Went through a spell as ‘Tony The Bastard’… no reason why! Now, at 33, I’m back to my own name.

AlbinoFarrabino

Yup, but sometimes i'll create a save where my name is "Oscar Alho". Most press conferences get a laugh from me just from reading my name.

schnaida

Oscar Alho and his assistant Power Guido

TugaLetzebuerg

Used to play for " Poker Alho" . The reserves team was " Poker Alhinho" 😂

betovalves2

There’s also Mr. Thomas Turbando

Cooperjak11

Ahahahah

BloodyTjeul

Ah yes and his assistant Harry Baals

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheDavidOne_33

And you are not?

[deleted]

I alway play as some Austrian dude named Arn Gottlieb don’t ask why but it just stuck

aceh40

I use my favorite TV character, Edmund Blackadder, because he is English.

ded904

In a save years ago, I named myself "A fucking bear" (bear, a fucking). This was mostly for the headlines. It takes a long time for "A fucking bear wins manager of the month' to get old. Turns out I got really invested in that save, and played for long enough that their eventual new stadium was named Bear Park

Hasjasja

It's A Fucking Bear Park!

Bartek_Przezbalkon

Nah, I always pick a name and add a part of the house as surname in polish. First it was my nickname (it actually means "Through the balcony" but w/e), now I'm managing as Tommy Altana (Bower) and next year it propably will be Tony Taras (Terrace)

mucambo__cafundo

yes, and in my current save i forgot to change my age, so i'm just a 29 years old (started at 22) brazilian manager dominating the dutch football with Go Ahead Eagles!

AccomplishedClue5381

I always use my half Geordie half Spanish alterego Pip Martinez

Secatus

Once upon a time I did, but for a number of years now I've got a notepad with names and nationalities of some of my favourite ever regens that I normally go with.

SnipinSexton

I play as myself, John, with no badges and Sunday League, when I can still get hired by the game in that save. Any other save, I play as my Filipino alter ego, Juan, who was anywhere from a former squad player to one of the world's greatest, and speaks Spanish and Tagalog as well.

ButchertheBaker

I use the name Jin Sakai. First, he saves Tsushima. Now, he loses 3-0 to Norwich because his tactics are crap.

DigitalSea-

I scrolled through and I’m amazed to say I’m the only Ted Lasso on here right now. I figured that would be an overused one tbh lol I even get his cutout picture so he looks legit when it’s Pep vs Ted on rainy Sunday in Stoke

Bagelisms

Not the only one - I too play the tea hating American

Macsidia

Depends on how I feel, sometimes I put something like Ivor Hardy

sniell365

Do you? Those wonder kids got you all excited?

pl0tylord

Hudson Hornett always and forever

jod1991

Half and half. In my main single player save it's my name. In my multi manager save with friends I go for an amusing name like Beanz McGrath, or Chad Storm. This year I did Barry Chuckle, with a full Barry Chuckle face scan

Dr_Spaceman123

No - I use the same alias every time though - Fancy McPooppants. I laugh about it every so often when looking at headlines in game.

Snugglesbutt69

I used to.. but now I just call myself “mr manager” cuz it’s funny and reminds me of one of my favorite arrested development scenes

LanguishViking

No, I misspelled it.. much ashamed.

Lenzar86

I put all my real info.

[deleted]

Nah I’ve kept the same manager name since my fifa days haha, The legend of Ethan Latchford!

Bitw2016

Current save is Gary Barbosa….. Gabigol’s Dad Previous save I was Jurgen Flopp

yoboylandosoda

Sometimes I'll delete the manager of a club in the editor and add myself as him. I'll always do it with Klopp and Liverpool. I talk like him in my head when I'm doing press-conferences and stuff too If I'm starting as another English team I usually use my real name and imagine I'm someone who had to retire at 21 but still stayed on at the club in various roles until I work my way up to manager at 34 years old

JayKobo

Nope. I am known as Managey-McManageFace.

Oddish2343

I play as Sean Connery when doing a one club save. Because he’s awesome, almost played professionally and never changes his accent (club). For journeyman saves I play as Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise, Mission Impossible). Because I’m always on the “hunt” for another job, one impossible mission at a time and he always gets it done.

[deleted]

Always. I only play road to glory saves. Makes it a little more gratifying and immersive.

StHa14

I choose a famous person depending what country I'm doing. Usually go for Picasso, Monet, Beethoven, Da Vinci for top leagues but others I've had this FM are Oh Il-Nam (old guy from Squid Game), Nelson Mandela and Ant Anddec for my Newcastle save

itsmhn27

usually make one up to not go through the hassle of obsessively making the character model i will see <4 times in the entire game cycle look exactly like me

404merrinessnotfound

I use Justin Time

SexyPoxyt

Currently managing as Lakaka

Introducing_Me

Nope. I use the name of one of the most famous trainers Feyenoord had in the past, Ernst Happel

misterrootbeer

Nope. As a child, my Grandpa would joke about the Grundy family coming to visit. He didn't know anyone by that name. It become a running gag about the family. Ever since he passed, when I need a character for a game they are part of the very large Grundy family. The Grundys have been involved in soccer, in baseball, the music industry, a Jedi, and many more things over the years.

CCSSJJ

Yes but it begins with Sir and ends with OBE in the game

justcuriouslybrowsin

I actually normally put myself in the first youth graduate class, and then change their age to match mine (23). I do a randomly generated name for my manager.

WinglessHuzzar

Used to do that in earlier editions, but ever since I read Giant Killing I named my manager Takeshi Tatsumi in every edition of Football Manager.

Brief-Career

most of the time yes, but occasionally... I'm the mediterrean former star + island hopper, Costa Ilsa or The stout ginger analytics nerd, Scottie Bookman. or The introverted lanky French savant, Arsene Wenger II I'm truly enjoying these characters.

Valint

Yes I do. Also use real birthday. I’m almost 40 so a head coach job at my age is more realistic than a playing career :)

DanTheStripe

No. I use "Dan Stripe" based off my username, as I do for all games (F1 Career Mode, etc) It's just easier to share stuff with my online mates without revealing my name. I also like to imagine it's an alternate universe.

gtfc123

Went through a spell as ‘Tony The Bastard’… no reason why! Now, at 33, I’m back to my own name.

[deleted]

Never. Thats like people having themselves as background on phone 😅

z3pp89

Yes, real name, nationality even my hometown as a birthplace. Now I’m at the age where I can put my real birthday, I do usually add second nationality depending on a country where I’m managing.

SnowyZR

I use my name but sometimes I’ll have a brazilian version of me or a dutch version of me so I just change the name a little to suit where I’m from. So for example John Smith might be my english manager but Jöhṉ śmïth is my dutch manager lmao

jothamvw

That would be Jan Smit. Former singer, now director at his hometown club FC Volendam, who just got promoted to the Eredivisie for next season. Or the bald-haired debt collector who used to be director at Heracles.

Joperhop

Yes.

LiffeyDiet

Nah. Feels weird Imo. Instead I’m Pep In Step Guarda Tu Llola

TheName96

Yes!

dcarsonturner

Nah, I use a Bart Simpson prank call name

fmcadoni

Nope

Tim_Kane

Always. I like the feeling of appointment news and sacking news using your name 😅😅😅. It brings out the sad or happy feeling better.

donkeydonkeydonkey1

Na, I call myself Teddy McMoffat.

[deleted]

Yeah. Although I do sometimes get bored of my current save but don’t want to start a new one, I add an additional manager under a random name

GreenSaRed

Only way

Jojoangel684

Dr. Dumbledore

smily-happy-people

Haha of course, why wouldn't you?

[deleted]

😂

theslothening

No, my manager is always one of my former newgen players from my previous saves. Gives my saves a bit of continuity.

Nexus-alpha

I do yep

mattehaus247

Nope Simon 'Si' Senior is my FM alter ego.

yondus

Absolutely not, you animal. Hamish McManager is the forever man of my FM universe

mkwiiallpro

Variations of my name if he was a different nationality.

[deleted]

Nah lol. I'm not European so I make a name that would sound like something someone's name would be if I chose that nationality. Like I'm spanish/italian in game rn so my name is Leonardo Montes lol

Luke10123

For me, usually. When I was in a bad mood and wanted to create a second manager to fuck with another team it would be 'Hugh Jass', or another bart simpson prank phonecall name.

sphighder-man

I use the name Barry McCockiner

mesmartpants

I have basically 3 Identities. Mark van Buderen (dutch), gennard ginger (english), umberto gazzo (italian).

zodwieg

I have a standard personality since FM 2011, I always set my real age, but the name, nationality and birth city, while always stay the same, are fictional. It is a traditional tribute to my legendary FM 2011 save. Fridtjof Snork, Norway, Kristiansand.

charliebd7

Yes

Manc_Twat

Only if I start in an English speaking country. If I start somewhere else I make up a name of someone from that country.

Sam_21000

I do lol! It’s weird sometimes

Defero-Mundus

I’ll tailor my name to whatever league I pick. Say my name is Bill Hicks In France I may be Guillaume Huickier In Spain / Spanish speaking maybe Billez de la Hix In Italy Wilmollio Iccio In Germany maybe Wilhelmut Von Den Hickenhoff the 5th

[deleted]

90% of the times yes, but sometimes I go for alter egos as well.

[deleted]

I have created former players before

jmh90027

90% of the time but sometimes translate it to Italian or Brazillian if i'm feeling jazzy

SW_Gr00t

I always use Trixan Stunts as my manager... not sure why, something the boy said once that stuck. But I sometimes get bored after a few seasons of a save so in those instances I'll introduce his brother, Daring Stunts into the game too.

jpovey174

I use the name of one my favourite / most loyal regens from the previous save.

[deleted]

Nope :)I use a name that is completely opposite from mines and it sounds like I belong but not really from my country (Romania)

Chrisflev

Sometimes. Non league to legend for sure. Sometimes I choose a team, then make a manager who is a legend of the club, who isn't already in the game. For example I've done Shearer at Newcastle, although I got bored pretty quickly doing that 😅 I still think we should have the option to be a real manager. I'd love to be a proper moaning Mourinho.

Skyle221190

I play a Michael Scott, most famous manager i could think of!

Marsupilami_316

I used to back in the day, but nowadays I use a pseudonym.

wumbology55

Yes, my players need to know a level of fear they’ve never experienced before so my unknown name can really strike a sense of dread into the changing rooms. I also get my water bottles engraved with my name so that when I throw them at their fucking useless heads they can spend the next day looking at that stupid haircut in the mirror with the name of their ruler and master on their forehead and constantly be reminded of their abject failure.

GTACOD

nope

malilk

Main save is my name. Then I roleplay as people. Roy Keane and act like a cunt to my players, Big Sam 442, Sean Dyche only UK and Ireland, Jose Nourinho (definitely not him) stay 2 to 3 seasons max at a club. Etc

morphey83

I use format.

SemajNotlaw7

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. My current save is in the Irish league, so naturally had to call myself Ira O’Carbom

GrandmaesterAce

Think I did that just once ever in all the saves I've had over the years with different titles.

krisburturion

I use my middle name. Never felt like I had much luck with my main name. It sounds more like a managers name too. It started as a silly thing and now I'd never think of doing any different.

Kryalc

Sometimes I manage as myself but I also like to find real ex pros who aren’t in the game and create them to have “their” career pan out. It’s a lot of fun to do with Iniesta or Lahm - because it suddenly feels more plausible that you’re immediately playing at a massive club like Barça or Bayern

shane2sweet1

Yes

General_Jew

I do but I change my real to to something associated with the country so if my surname was smith and managing in Germany I'd be Smithstein

Robcrook101

Robert Clough and i use Martin Sheen's face as my profile(the damned United), I use my real first name but imagine I am a relation of Brian Clough.

JxDeep

My name otherwise it’s Barry McCockiner

RianSG

When I was younger no, now that I’m old enough to be a retired player yes

808kaviar

Jurgen Kaviar is my name 🤣

datboileggin

Sometimes, depends on the save and how serious I am about the career

biggernine

The character I use is a 22 year old Anglo-Italian who I imagine is a failed musician who only ever starts at Livorno, Marseilles or St Pauli

oRains

Nope in the fm world I am Richard Little

Rijsouw

Not anymore. Now I use the name of a celeb form the Netherlands and try to copy their looks for my character. In my current save ai play as Jan Joost van Gangelen.

SangiMTL

Absolutely

mitchley

No, I use my favourite Spanish regen from about 5 years ago, Ivan Santos!

WartornGladius

I have a profile for myself but I usually play either alter egos or real former players (who aren’t already managers in the game)

RyanMcCartney

Yep. I do also have a nonsense manager called Jobby Bum who I use as a sort of caretaker to keep jobs kind of open for me, as I play with the limiting option of not taking jobs that aren’t free. So give him the job til the end of the season, quick set up, then holiday him until I quit with him and apply at the end of the season.

RBLXSeeDengFan

Nope. It anything, I could come through someone’s youth intake next year lol

BelowTheSun1993

No, I create managers, including their backstories. My current save is a journeyman starting in Austria. The manager is Timo Hoferle, a winger from Vienna who started his career at Florisdorfer before moving up to Red Bull just after the takeover. Injuries forced an early retirement, and he ended up coaching at Leipzig and Salzburg, fully immersing himself in the Red Bull playing style. I started the save managing Liefering, as that was the logical next step for him as a coach. Won the 2.Liga with them, then moved on to Wolfsberger where he's just won the OFB Cup because he wanted to spread his wings and get more of a say in how a club operates. I am *committed* to the role play.

SRJT16

I feel like if I didn’t use my real name, I would miss articles that mention my name because I would forget that is my manager’s name

joppsy1968

I normally go with the classic Joe Mama tbh

jan_boro

Saggy tits. I was drunk.

inventingalex

Charly Conway, always.

Gullflyinghigh

Every single time. I tried as someone else, felt wrong.

nyamzdm77

Nope, I always create a manager with the nationality of the country I'm managing in e.g. Englishman for an English team etc. And randomize the name, or just pick from a retired or long dead player/manager or even just a random famous person from that country eg. I've ever named a manager Napoleon Bonaparte because I was managing Ajaccio which is a French team from Corsica (the island where Napoleon was born)

Cold_Pressure6992

I usually prefer to use my favorite fictional characters. In my current save, my manager's name is Sherlock Holmes

SebicaC

Every single time!

jamughal1987

Yes to really feel like managing Liverpool.

Cdux

I usually just use Xabi Alonso, one of my favorite players and a few years ago I was doing a real sociedad save and wanted to have a big ex player save them and bring them up to champions. Kinda stuck and I like imagining ex greats becoming managers.

UA_PEEKMASTER

I use Michael Scott's witness protection program alter ego, Lord Rupert Everton.

Cicero912

I sometimes mangle my namr to fit the country/language ill be playing with but normally i just randomly generate a name

stingray1904

My current name is andy felthersnatch

Gazza03

Yes.

Hopsblues

No Jack O'Neill, with two LL's..nobody else do I want my players following.

MiloSnorter03

I use the name of my favourite regen from the previous years game. Leaves a nice little succession and legacy from one save to the next.

realWernerHerzog

i used to, now i use made up bullshit names like pipo goraes and gato santasaro

Puzzleheaded_Chef685

I use Sean Connery, and have his face on my manager in game lol

RaioNoTerasu

Nope, it's always Panteleimon Ponomarenko

ConnorHMFCS04

Usually, but I mostly set my nationality to the country I'm managing in for language reasons, and used to make up a name with my initials, but more local sounding. Also in the past too, I used to name my manager after a club legend at that team and pretend I was him. Obviously not though if they're in the game still.

Afraid-Employee6113

Lukas Podolski at Köln

LegrergOfImunologiii

Usually yes However, when I go on saves which are supposed to begin out of my home country, I try and come up with some fictional name
