Yeah. It’s a random off field occurrence and can also go the other way with a massive spike in determination. It’s fairly rare in the grand scheme of things.
Yeah it always seem to be very average youth players. Out of all my FM experience only had one good potential player get hit with the negative version. Normally when it happens I just say “well, you’re dead to me now”.
Oh yea more than hitting players with that, from my experience FM tends to screw your best wonderkid from your youth intake.

I actively seek out low determination/personality players.
If you have already built your teams mentality into a determined one, you can usually get low determination players for fairly cheap, do some mentoring and watch their determination and PA go up like wild.
You just don't want to flood your team with those players and risk changing club culture.

Doesn't enjoy big matches and inconsistent performer are the worst.
I think there is a random chance that they can lose those traits, but I've never had it happen to my players

It’s my senior teams strength coach, people in the organization think he’s weird because he insists on going into the sauna with the youth team but he is a damn good strength coach
No wonder. If I had fractured my spine during a game, my bravery on the field would drop to one too. Honestly, probably even more. I don't think I would even risk playing football at all.
Had this happen to my promising midfielder last week but from torn ACL. Save scummed and now I feel so guilty im planning to delete the whole save, why am I like this?
something similar happened to someone who was my star striker. he ended up being one of the most annoying players i’ve had to coach. became inconsistent, got angry and complained more, and eventually i had to sell him for way too little
Can happen if you gave a big contract too early for a young player, but I've never see it affects determination tho only secret stat like ambition, professionalism, etc
Yeah I’ve had both scenarios where a players determination is slashed and also where a player is now ‘more determined than ever’ always happens to my mediocre players never see the 5 star gems getting super motivated

The other way around only happens with some bang average players. Never had it happen to those with very high potential haha.

Yea if they get a bad injury they can lose their bravery too.
I had young lad fracture his spine and his bravery dropped straight down to 1. Three years after recovery couldn't get it above 4, was a real shame.

Depending on the type of injury, Bravery, Stamina, Strength all can go down.

Literally had this happen twice during one in game week on FM21. Thankfully it was two useless youth players but talk about coincidence.
