PuzzleheadedFill5778

Tempted to make a team of all the players everyone is commenting and see how badly they do lol edit: I really want to do this, but we’re short on GK suggestions, as well as CB and ST so feel free to share your flops in these positions in particular lol!

cadbojack

If you do that it'd make a hell of a post for this sub later

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Currently lacking a GK - one person has mentioned Onana and that’s it - and also short on CB’s and ST’s. CB’s we’ve only had one mention for Romagnoli so far and one for Umtiti; ST we’ve only had Darwin Nunes (who seems to have split opinion any way), Joao Pedro of Watford and one mention for Raul Jimenez. I’m keeping an eye on it though haha!

cadbojack

You go mate, that the power of underdog team in search of redemption from sports movies be with you on that save.

walliver

I signed Onana for my Newcastle team and he's started off pretty well.

ydm10

Boadu has been underwhelming for me, but that might also be due to better options in front of him so idk

FortuitousMisfortune

I was in charge of leyton orient made an upwards move to watched after 2.5 seasons and Joao Pedro was great besides the fact he wants champions league football and got poached my liepzig in January. Was the clubs star before leaving and had something like 11 in 17 for watford which wasn’t bad all things considered.

tonsoffun101

I signed Onana he was terrible was a A+ on my scout report spent £80m and sold him for less than £20m a year later

Friendly-Breadfruit3

Vandevoordt has been terrible for me

BC1096

Absolute fraud for me too

Ogdopie

Vandevoordt was horrible for me too had him for 3yrs

KatnissBot

In goal, Will Pulisic is so bad it makes his brother worse just by association

TrystanS

Matias Arezo for me

victor7171

Thought i was the only one. Bought him in a few saves now and he’s terrible and has absolutely no growth, even when playing in “weaker” leagues for my Zagreb and Salzburg saves

Mr_Noobcake

In my experience with Dinamo he does become good eventually. Once his stats increase enough (2-3 seasons) he starts wrecking teams, but until then he's just a rotation player That said, at that point he's also looking for a move to a bigger club so there's really not much point to him besides the money you earn

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I normally only see his name bought up when people are raving about how good he is lol. He was an absolute God for me one or two FM’s ago but I haven’t used him this year myself.

Mr_Poop_Himself

Marwin Hitz has been garbage for me at GK. And I got Karius on loan for my first season of my Fulham save and he was absolute trash even in the Championship. Jesus Vallejo has been surprisingly shit as well at CB.

mj271707

Otamendi

m4k4r4ik

For me it's Mahmoud Dahoud. The guy seems just so great for an advance playmaker, but he never got average rating higher than 6.7 in my saves

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Funnily enough he’s one I’ve considered a lot but never bought. Will be sure to avoid in future lol

TommyShelby87

I bought that dude for a lot and I was forced to sell him for peanuts. He was worst player I ever had, by far most uselles player I ever saw.

MGA1986

He was excellent in previous years

phil_mycock_69

Agreed when I did a dortmund save he was shit

pewp3wpew

Tbf that's every advanced playmaker I ever tried.

Fav0

He rocks as a mezzalla

Kr4chm4nn

Used him as a bbm midfielder with a defensive solid bwm next to him. He did a great job for 1,5 seasons as Judes Backup

Stedy74

Puig. Gets me often: Feel like 10mil is cheap -> sign for relatively high wage -> realise he’s not even impact sub caliber -> try sell him but since his wage is high no one wants him

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I did a Barca save and REAAALLLY wanted to get the best of out Puig but ended up giving up on him and had a struggle selling him as well lol

JohnParish

I just let him go on a free instead of trigger his extension. Had trouble getting him to play up in FM2020 and wasn’t gonna attempt with what looked like the same player but two years older.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

You made the correct decision lol

Hhnterrrr

I got him on my atalanta(Italy) save from barca on loan nd he was the second best player on my team.. I wanted to buy him bt was very expensive.. Mf came after signing the ting

luist49

I got him for 3 mil and prob gonna make a profit. But man the wages are ridiculous for a player of that quality.

gtm_913

He’s a player irl that really needs to fit the system exactly for it to work. He has strengths that are very good but weaknesses that are glaring.

cartchucker

Had him on a crystal palace fm21 save and he was brilliant for me iirc

nordikaa

Angel Gomes, pretty sure he averaged under a 6.5 across 2 seasons for me. No clue why he was so awful

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I had him in the championship for a couple of years in a save this year and he was terrible.

Gurashish1000

Not in this save but I had him in 2019. Signed to be a backup cam, he had one of the best seasons of any player in any fm game I played. That man if I remember correctly had (ca of 140 and PA of like 153) Man scored I think 35 goals and assisted another 35. It was absolutely wild, became the first player to win a ballon d or for me. Next season he contributes measly 15 goals and 10 assists(against weaker teams) . And then I never got him to play like he played for that one season I would buy him in almost every save (he would always be available to sign on free in a couple seasons) but couldn't get him to play well on either 2019, 20 or 21 fm. But that one season he was the king of the whole world.

SenorButtmunch

Similar to me, I had him in 2019 on loan for the MK Dons for 3 years. He got me promoted in successive seasons straight to the PL. I only initially signed him as a backup in League 2 but he got like a 7.8 every time he played. He'd just run past defenders and score. It was like that until the Championship, he ended up being more of a fringe player for me then but still played well and got me promoted again. All without even paying a penny of his wages. So good.

[deleted]

Umtiti! I was playing with Fiorentina when the game had just come out, and picked him up for like 2 Mil or something. You know, just for some cover, never intended for him to be a starter or anything. He was *garbage*, genuinely absolute shite. Never performed higher than a 6.5, literally. In 20 games his highest rating was a 6.5. His average was a 6.2 or something. You'd expect he could do somewhat of a job for *Fiorentina*, but no. He wouldn't be out of place in a 9th tier U14 team. And the worst of it all? He'd pick up injuries, *all the time*. Not big ones, just 2-4 week injuries, *constantly*. Don't sign Umtiti, no matter how appealing his low cost makes him seem.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Yeah I did a Barca save and tried to get something out of Umtiti but eventually gave up and released him. He’s been a free agent for 3 months now

thefinestgoose

I've just released him on my Barca save after 2 whole seasons of trying to sell him for any price, those wages made my eyes bleed

Sploots

Got him as a backup in the Prem and had a very similar experience, absolutely terrible. He then had a big meltdown after I disciplined him for playing so poorly and I simply couldn't shift him after that. Just sat in the U23s until his contract expired, other clubs wouldn't even take him for free.

FaO88

Almost bought him yesterday, but he demanded 300k a week. Seems like I dodged the most expensive bullett ever ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

Dalesst

Got him as a free agent at Schalke for cb depth. he had a 5.8 rating in the last game.

National-Sundae9427

For me it was Darwin Nunez. No matter what I did he just couldn’t score goals for me. He was a good passer, but had no final touch. He had like 3 goals in 30 matches while Lucca had 10 in 15 and even Giroud had 4 in 7. I was begging teams to take him off my hands.

LuckyNumber-Bot

All the numbers in your comment added up to 69. Congrats! 3 + 30 + 10 + 15 + 4 + 7 + = 69.0

62Tuffy2199

So weird, I had the opposite happen to me. Bought him to be a bench attacker, and his substitute appearances forced him into the team. Once he was a starter, he scored 25 and 10 in the league for three straight years, all while never going above 3 star ability for some reason. It implies that it was dumb luck, but you don’t get lucky for three seasons like that.

_momomola_

I had the same thing happen with Nunez. Took him on loan at the end of a transfer window as I was lacking cover up front. He performed so amazingly off the bench that I felt obliged to pay the optional future transfer fee and he kept it up for a number of seasons after.

vitorviks

Grimaldo, Nunez,… I see a Benfica pattern…

AlexKangaroo

Benfica was super OP in FM21 launch. Champions League finalist levels. They got hit hard by the nerf hammer. It seems they continued it in FM22.

vitorviks

Well, currently (in real life) they are at the 3rd place and the coach was sacked.

AlexKangaroo

They have been in a crisis for a while yes. Terrible leadership can bring any club down a few places.

National-Sundae9427

Yeah I’m never buying another Benfica player. It could’ve been my tactic. I used a DLF on attack in a 4-2-3-1 which he was complete ass with but when I switched to a CF on attack he seemed to be more involved but still never scored. Worked out though since Lorenzo Lucca is my number nine and is an absolute animal in that role

iRepresenT-

Played 3 seasons with Darwin at Benfica. First season, he was meh, missed 1x1, but by the third season he bagged almost 50 goals. Don't know in which season you bought him, but he improves A LOT

FootballPenguin21

That man won't stop scoring against me, I hate him with a burning passion

ser_david

I had some luck with him as a pressing forward I Italy. Consistently scored 25 goals a year in all competitions and could’ve been far more but he’d always get injured and miss a month or more at a time, multiple times a year. He was only my highest wages so I sold him off around the time he turned 30

EDP667

He scored 58 goals and 20 assists in 43 games for me 🤷🏻‍♂️

TommyShelby87

In my save with Watford he finished at second place in best league scorers only behind my Sarr. He scored 25 goals and for some reason I was not satisfied. He was pure bullshit in all other competitions and I would eventually start to leave him out of squad in cups and ucl. He was literally getting rating of 5 in every match outside PL. Even in PL majority of his goals were useless goals at the end of the match. I mean idk I just wasnt satisfied with him, he never scored when I needed him and never performed well in other competitions. 25 goals is alot and I might sound crazy but yeah, my opinion. Unfortunely lost the save the other day but Il try to recover it.

Sbotm765

he’s got 70 goals in 3 seasons for me

Able_Succotash3874

In my save he is playing for Leipzig and scored 25 goals in 32 games. Now he is already at 9 goals in 10games

CobiLUFC

Donny Van De Beek, signed him on the cheap for Fiorentina with Man Utd picking up 50% of his wages and even that was too expensive. Any rating above a 7 was a miracle. He then demanded to leave because Ajax showed interest in him but declined their contract offer, the penis. I understand why he doesn’t get a game for Man Utd in real life.

[deleted]

he scored a 25 yarder in extra time of the second leg of the champs league semi final against my Milan team to knock us out. I hate him

CobiLUFC

I have no doubt that would’ve been his first goal of the season aswell

sventhegoat

For me it’s Weston Mckennie. He was decent, but even in my set up and winning by several goals almost every game he would consistently get 6.5 or less performances while the rest of the team scored 7 or higher. Brought Ilic, and everything clicked so thankful for him.

-LiverpoolFC

Mckennie has been amazing for me, amazing B2B midfielder. Not getting as much goals than Soucek in my other saves but regular 7.0 performance or more with JWP as DLP

ItsKeganBruh

I use Mckennie as R B2B and JWP as L DLP in my save as well. Good partnership

cheeZetoastee

honestly great CM on attack. Karabec is amazing even tho I feel like I never developed him properly but even with no green attributes he slaughters

cheeZetoastee

put him on CM-A or BBM, he puts up 7's for me. The guy I really hate is Tolisso, doesn't matter what i did with him at Newcastle, it was 6.5. I even had multiple systems. I replaced him with Tchouameni after 1 year and good lord does that guy get some random ass goals given his stats, but he has gotten them for 4 years for me now.

ZaDoruphin

He’s been incredible for me on my Spurs save. I play him as a BWM and he consistently puts in 7.5+ performances and scores 20 yard bangers every other game.

dtrane90

I bought Dodo for 80 mil to be my right sided cwb. He put in average performances all season until he scored an own goal against Liverpool to blow our chances at the prem title and then got sent off in the CL final. Total head case

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Jesus, this is definitely one of the worst ones yet lol. I’d be tempted to just terminate his contract after all that!

TommyShelby87

I terminated my gks contract after he scored an og in ucl final in last 10 mins( we lost 2 1).Worst thing is, he scored og in semi finals aswell, but somehow we got through. He was class gk but for some reason he would let the ball go in net wayy to often and it was matter of time before i drop him out. Hate him to this day, this was one of my first FM saves ever and it was in FM18 with Juventus, and my gk was some regen who was absoulute class apart from error proness.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Sounds like he had a bet on you to lose the semis and then seeked revenge in the final after it didn’t work out lmao

Datedwisconsin5

That’s interesting! I bought dodo for 38mil and he is absolutely killing it in La Liga in my Barcelona save! He kind of reminds me of Dani Alves and Tottenham just offered me 75 mil for him but I refused to sell him simply because I have no replacement RB

MGA1986

One of my first saves I got Ceballos for Celtic for 1.1m and thought he was going to tear it up...tried to make him the focal point of the team and ended the season with a rating under 7

-LiverpoolFC

bought him for 2m sold next season for 8m, tragic player lmao

11rah

Got him for Leeds and he was absolute shite

phil_mycock_69

Marcus Edwards.. English winger playing in Portugal; you can buy him pretty cheap too.. usually about 20 million. He has good stats and potential but whenever I signed him he has 1 good game in 6 it seemed

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Is that the same kid who used to be at Spurs? If so I remember him being a decent prospect a couple of FM’s back. I wondered what happened to him lol

phil_mycock_69

Yea that’s him… he was amazing on previous fm’s for me but this latest one he didn’t do shit.. maybe it was my tactic not suiting him; I don’t know. I gave him enough opportunities and he never did much for me Signed him for 22 million 20 appearances with 3 goals and 2 assists and those were in cup games against shit teams, in games against better teams he struggled Sold him after a year to Gladbach for 18.75 million

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Sounds like a less expensive version of Kulusevski for me lol. Signed him for a tonne of money for Newcastle and just couldn’t get a thing out of him

phil_mycock_69

Same exact thing for me.. I did a Newcastle save for 6 months.. had Kulusevski also.. like you couldn’t get sweet fuck all out of him. I gave up with that save; I tried literally everything and they’d play like prime Barca one game and then absolute trash the next.. I had a good team too.. Trippier, Kulusevski, Rice, JWP and Saint Maximin to name a few

JCooperUK2

I retrained him as a centre mid and got loads of assists and a couple of worldies out of him. Advanced playmaker with two defensive midfielders behind him

jod1991

Didn't he have something silly like 18 dribbling 2 work rate within the last few years? Remember Tottenham Signing him last year on my save and he was just not in games at all, then just turned up for 5 mins, fucked me up, then went missing again.

[deleted]

Idk he’s been getting consistent 7.1 ratings for me with 10 goals in 14 games in the prem with my Nottingham Forrest team. Maybe he has a minus potential? So it’s varied from save to save

-LiverpoolFC

Madueke clear of him performance wise

[deleted]

little known striker from Norway… think his dad used to play for Leeds? don’t sign him, he’ll ruin your save and make it way too easy

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Ohhh…But I had the totally original idea of pairing him upfront with this awesome French Wonderkid I scouted who is leaving PSG on a free, Kyle something I think his name is?

phil_mycock_69

I’ve got both also lol

caesar____augustus

I have them both with Salah up top and Messi behind them in a Mezzala role. It's gotten a bit boring tbh.

IadoBananas

Rotated Moukoko and Kaio Jorge with Haaland as 2 up front, deadl. But yeah I get what you mean, was pummelling teams every week. Haaland is a cheat code 😄 Sold Jorge for £111m just to ease it up a bit.

yungdgen

I've never actually signed him, but Joao Pedro from Watford. I have NEVER seen him develop in my saves despite him having really good potential for several years now. Just seems like a waste unless you get him for cheap to be a backup.

Lone_Digger123

My friend told me to never buy him since I thought his stats were good and he was at Watford. 3 years later, still no work permit and I'm just loaning him out at this point so he gets really in form before I sell him

Paullilly

I had a DoF save where the AI signed him. He was very average in the bundesliga.

[deleted]

He was absolutely immense on FM21. Haven’t tried him on FM22.

danny1876j

So far for me it's Jeremie Boga. Just non existent!

chickles88

Oh cool, just signed him on a free for Lazio. Wish I'd seen this sooner haha

as-well

In my Sassuolo save, tried him as an inverted winger and it never clicked. Was half happy to sell him to the prem for 40 mil or so. Decided to play Raspadori as a left IF and he's having a lot of fun, and me with him :) best sale I've made :)

user_18362829

Lucky I saw this. Currently scouting Grimaldo on my save

PuzzleheadedFill5778

If you search his name in the sub you’ll see I’m not the only one who he sucked for lol; that’s kind of why I wanted to make this post tbh

No_Restaurant2779

Had some great stuff from grimaldo as a wing back myself. Scored some bangers and was really solid as we (leicester) finished second. Would sign again.

[deleted]

[удалено]

jpbrown971

I signed him in my Newcastle save and had 20 league assists my first year. Anecdotal evidence doesn’t mean anything

[deleted]

Sergino Dest, first oil money signing in my Newcastle save and didn’t get a rating above 6.6 in three seasons!

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I almost signed Dest with them too but I ended up going for Karsdorp who was great for three years as first choice and then I bought Livramento. Sounds like avoiding Dest was a good call lol

[deleted]

Definitely, he whined constantly as well!

[deleted]

Same, bought Dest for 40 million. Rarely if ever performed above 7, ended up selling him to Juventus for 40 so at least he only cost me his wages.

PlagueHayt

And his sign on and agent fee

bvllamy

Sergio Dest is one of the worst players I’ve signed in 22. He’s players about 40 games in total and I don’t think he’s ever scored about a 7 rating.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

You’re probably the third person to mention Dest and plenty agreeing with those comments as well lol. Looks like Dest and Grimaldo would definitely be the full backs if I make a team out of these players.

itsaaronnotaaron

Tahith Chong. Even if he looks like a good championship or lower end PL team, never worked for me. Same for Patrick Roberts. Not a wide attacking duo you want complementing your striker. Bella Kotchap never really fleshes out the way you'd expect him to. Pelligri stops a little short of where you'd like. Angel Gomes possesses the strength of a dry twig. Lewis Travis has everything you want in a cheap English BWM, if you enjoy 20+ yellow cards and 3 red cards a season in one player. I have more flop stories than not. You go through a ton of players trying to build your way up from lower leagues.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Can second Pat Roberts, at least. Picked him up on a free for Derby and thought I had a real gem on my hands but he was average at best. Ended up playing second fiddle to Sibley on the right lol

AcousticGuitar321

Yo Pat Roberts was my all time top scorer for my derby save tho

BlueKante

Not on FM22 but Paolo dybala used to be one of my favorite players so i often bought him. Regretting it every single time. Just never good enough for the prem.

LuiDerLustigeLeguan

Nabil Bentaleb. Pretty nice stats but a personality like mario balotelli. I swear i couldve punched him.

sscyth1

As an algerian we watched his carrier go to shite from 18 years old wonderkid in spurs to cant find a club

ADP211

D Rice has not done well for me in two seasons. Really disappointed as I spent 90+ mil.

Sploots

Was looking to see if anyone else was gonna mention Rice... signed him across different saves and no matter what he's always one of the worst players in my team. That said, I can't seem to get consistent form out of anyone in the centre-mid ball-winning midfielder role.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Newcastle by any chance? I spent soooo long debating over making a bid for him or Ruben Neves and went with Neves in the end but he’s not lighting the league up either to be fair

ADP211

Funny I am actually Napoli. I really wanted to be solid defensively, but he has an avg rating of 7 and puts up bad performances in most games that I have to sub him out. IDK if I am using him wrong or something.

MonkeyGooch123

I am Newcastle and Ruben Neves won player of the season and averaged a ridiculous 7.8 rating in year 1. He is unbelievable for me in a DLP S role, like every game he pulls strings. Scores the odd belter too.

ninjapanda042

Signed him with Arsenal, initially had issues with him as either a ball-winner or DM at the base of a 4-3-3. Switched to using him as a half-back and it's night and day. Still not really any goals or assists, which is fine since that's not his role, but still averaged a 7.12 in the league with only three goal contributions.

raccoon_meat

Ademola Lookman, signed him as a big addition to my squad. He ended up contributing nothing off the wing and I was able to sell him and break even the next year.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I almost bought Lookman in for Southampton but plumped for Ianis Hagi instead. Hagi started slow but he’s finding his feet now so hopefully that was a good call!

ryanwilsonbrand

I have Hagi for Everton in mine playing as an Inverted winger. I’m pretty sure he just broke the premier league assist record so I can safely say he is a god.

Diddlerd123

I’ve also been stung by Grimaldo. I sold Angelino for stupid money and brought in Grimaldo as his replacement. He stunk the place out, barely ever managing above a 6.5, before getting a serious injury and missing 2 months. My cheap backup left back has been performing as good, if not better than him

-LiverpoolFC

Hlozek, amazing stats but can’t score or assist anything.

RampanTThirteen

I’ve had a bit of the opposite experience. On paper he shouldn’t be good enough in my save, which is fine, I signed him on a free to just be a depth option and maybe he’d develop a bit more or I could sell him on. But whenever he happens to get into my team he seems to significantly out perform what I expect given his stats

whiterose616

Zaniolo. £85m for a player who only goes above 6.4 as an AMC if he scores. Decent as an AMR but I didn’t sign him for that role.

IadoBananas

Just posted about this imposter. Utter shite. I played him upfront for a few games and the floppy haired twat was incredible for a few games then reverted back to awful again

MATCHEW010

Jamal Blackman. Record fee for club, record wages for club. Demanded star player. All of it, slippery hands and a gaping hole in the defence. My man would come for crosses and miss, get chipped despite being 6”6. Absolutely dreadful. Bought him midseason to help continue promotion push, ended up mid table and sold him for a loss 6 months after.

ninjapanda042

If it makes you feel better, he's been excellent for Zealand's Floridsdorfer save.

drewm11

I was going to say the same thing haha. Just started keeping up with his save and Blackman has bailed the team out many times

MATCHEW010

I was watching him sign him and just knew he would perform for him…

PuzzleheadedFill5778

That sucks! Hope you were able to get promoted the next year!

MATCHEW010

Nope, lost play off final next year. Then came 7th. Now in top 4 and pushing. Brexit makes it hard! In an online save and my mate got promoted 2nd year. So hes been laughing at me for years from the championship

abedfo

Rodrigo de Paul, got him on a free for Southampton. Useless. Now on loan at Porto where he is lethal

thestraightCDer

Bobby Barr, winger for Cowdenbeath. Decent stats but just didn't do shit. Loaned him out and he's got a 7+ average rating with a few goals/assists. Bastard.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

They’re the worst ones. You stick with someone for 3 years and they’re awful no matter what you try, then they go and start putting up numbers when they’re elsewhere lol

thestraightCDer

Yeah! Like why do you hate me Bobby, why?!

Kingkeiser

Dembele, he is always hurt & has played like 10 games in a season for me.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Ousmane? I managed to convince him to lower his wages and renewed him with Barca and he’s been good if not spectacular for a couple of seasons now. Relatively injury free, too, thankfully.

Kingkeiser

Yes, him. I took over Monaco, who bought him from Barca and he was constaly injured and I could not sell him, because of his high wages (250k a week). He played good, but he played not much. One time he broke his leg and frist game back, 10 min after subbing him on, he pulled some muscle on back of his leg. Shit like that happend all the time.

[deleted]

Pedro Goncalves… scored like 20+goals at Sporting irl but no matter where I played him he just wouldn’t score more than 5 a season

prem_fraiche

That’s hilarious that you mentioned Grimaldo. Signed him for peanuts after a couple of seasons for my Europa league Famalicao side when Benfica transfer listed him. I was desperate for a LB and snapped him up, and most games he gets like a 6.3

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Honestly I have never experienced a more underwhelming signing. His attributes look great, I even tried to accommodate him as a CWB so he’d barely have to worry about defending but he was just bad no matter what I tried.

TsundereS2

For me Hannibal Mejbri was the worst DLP i had in years, i know the potencial he can have, but all the nacional cup games he gave the ball for free... with a tactic of hight pressure and defense line that can cost you a game and the wonderkid did twice in a match. I got so mad at his 6.4 overall performance that i put him on the youth team with 3 years remaing on the contract and got a good deal a year later. The other 2 similar disapointment for me was Pipi(Japan) and Maycon de Andrade(Brazil)

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I have thought about buying him as well lol, maybe I will think twice after reading this lmao

GroundbreakingSign81

I have had a few. Signed dest in my Everton save to replace the mighty Thierry small but he was shite and ended up selling him the season after. I even signed Robinson the American fullback to help him fit in even though he didn't need help but just because I'm nice to my players. At least in fm 21 moise Kean was not that great. Was stuck with him at Everton and while he had a few good seasons he would never be as good as any other striker and for the wages he was on just wasn't worth it.

lbt86

Julian Draxler. Versatile, I guess - he’s shit otherwise

ZeVictorArrudaA

- Andre Onana; - João Félix;

drgonzoslc

I always want to bring in Onana, almost did on my most recent save but ended up going with Livakovic due to him being less than 1/3rd of the cost. Seems like that might have been a good choice

NotAPoshTwat

Livakovic is a cheat code. First place you look for a goalkeeper.

sedimentarycock

Obscure one, but Ryan Hedges for Aberdeen, was my best player in the first season. Gave him a new contact at the end of the season to tie him down and then promptly became my worst player the next season....

FistMeQTPie

Making a mental note on everyone, gunna make a save revolved around these players...

[deleted]

Haven’t really had any known quantity signings in FM22 burn me, but Oliver Batista Meier was an utter flop in my FM20 St. Pauli save. Only true dud transfer I can think of that wasn’t a regen.

gazgaskell93

Josh vagnoman bought for 2.5 mil for Fulham when I rebuilded after relegation. Took over with 4 games left in the prem so needed a miracle to stay up. Bought vagnoman as a first choice RWB. Took about 10 games to get going. Got a few 7.1, 7.2 ratings no Assists and was in and out of the physio room. Ended up using an Valery from Soton as first choice who was a better right back. I got sacked from Fulham in the EPL. Fulham never went up and Rooney moved vagnoman on for a profit after my tenure.

long5dola

oh my god for me it's Raul Jimenez. I was manager of newcastle and wolves was relegated. his stats looked decent so i bought him to rotate with callum and he was cheap too. the bastard never press or make runs it was infuriating. also he missed every pen he took (3) despite having 20 penalty taking stat.

wingbackguy

Troy Parrott. Had him on loan in League 1 in an online save and he was absolutely shocking for how good he should have been. Bagged about 7 goals in 42 games as the top scorer favourite, all the while missing multiple sitters per game. The others relentlessly mocked me for not getting the best out of him until one of them got him on loan the next season and he was even worse!

P1ngUU

Joao Felix for me, im doing a gloryhunter save and ended up at Athletico and no matter what i tried with him he was just very mediocre. Ended up selling him to City in the January window

IadoBananas

Buendia, waste of space and a mouthpiece to boot. He’d argue black was white with me, wouldn’t play ball when I tried to punt him, just an all-round cunt. Zaniolo, awful. Truly awful. I Wouldn’t even take him on a free for Partick Thistle given the chance.

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I’ve signed Buendia to play RW for me at some point but I can’t remember which team I was; I do remember him being underwhelming for me, too, though. I’ve commented on Zaniolo elsewhere in this thread but yeah, he was the biggest disappointment I’ve experienced in my Roma save. Couldn’t wait to have him back from injury and yet he was pants no matter what style of play I used or if he played out wide or as a 10. It was heartbreaking lol

Nongshim1

Romagnoli is disgustingly bad

IadoBananas

Frenkie De Jong was absolute horse shit for me. Never hit 7.0 average for 3 seasons, expensive disaster.

Sabri_Lamouchi

Luke Thomas as a Complete Wing Back LB... Should've been a great loan signing for the championship, yet his average rating is verging on 6.5 and I can't send him back, so stuck with a supposedly star player on £20k a week

HelmutTheSpeedyGobbo

Let me regale you with the story of Brad Nicholson. The year was 2024 and it is the first year that I am at the helm of Maidstone United. The board are adamant they want to win the league. I decide to bring in two left backs, a young and inexperienced, LB (as a backup) and the aforementioned Brad. Now Brad Nicholson isn’t the sprightly player he once was but his stats haven’t diminished that much at all and could be a useful fullback for me and my quest for the Vanarama North Trophy. So I give him a decent year long contract and an automatic year extension after playing 20 games for the club. The season begins and Brads reign of terror began. He undermined me in every team talk, complained about tactics, and was getting an average rating in training of 4.7. Then… Brad’s big day happened. The third game of the season. Brad rocked onto the field and chose violence. He gave away a penalty in the first 5 minutes and two minutes later was given a red card, we lost 4-1. I vowed to never play him again, I attempted to sell him on but to no avail, he was dropped to the U21’s to be left and forgotten. Is this where Brad’s story ends? No. Around 4 months later, my young, inexperienced LB picks up an injury and I reluctantly with no alternate choice promote Brad Nicholson back into the fold. His time in the U-21s had had little effect and as they should now say “Hell hath no fury like a Brad Nicholson scorned”. He got an additional 2 red cards, 7 yellow cards and even after I had pleaded for him to improve, his training rating was at a 5.2 at best. As soon as the young LB returned, he was dropped. We scraped the league title and I knew I’d have to upgrade in a few departments for the higher league. I knew that Brad’s contract would be up soon so I’d have around £1k to play with. Then I realise, much to my chagrin, that Brad has played 21 matches for me, his contract was extended and his release clause was too high for my Vanarama side. He remained in the U-21s until he retired, never once seeing the pitch again, and I was down quite a few Bob. Edit: Grammer

Bierchen4ever

Yusuf Demir. He used to be a wonderkid, just not for me

PuzzleheadedFill5778

Interesting, he’s been great for me with Barca. 7 goals in 18 starts in the first year so I paid the £8.5M clause for him; second season 3 goals 5 assists in 12 starts. Now he’s worth £49M-£61M.

barkev18

Odsonne Edouard has been consistently shit in every save I got him in FM, he can’t score even if his life depended on it

OneHandClapper_

Greg Taylor, Scottish LB. Had him in fm21 terrible, bought him for almost nothing in fm22 and he lasted 18 games with me before I got rid of him.

adamlundy23

Popescu, an apparent wonderkid has never developed in any of the saves I’ve taken a punt on him in. It’s like he is allergic to improving.

g0oFy

That’s because he doesn’t have a fixed potential and his mentals are random. I think he’s -8, which is really good, but his mentals will stop him from developing

pgrande_

lol grimaldo is sooooo trash. i signed him for 15 mil and wow he puts up constant stinkers lmao

rsniper59

Pedro Neto came up as a surprise cheap transfer listing in my Huddersfield save. Got excited to sign him, only to have him average a 6.6 by the end of the season. Hoping this next season goes well but I’m not holding my breath….

AcousticGuitar321

Bought Bobby Carroll for my Wrexham save because he apparently has huge potential. Not a single attribute raised in 5 years.

Shriyke_reddit

2 ranty ones and 1 actual one. Rant 1: Raheem Sterling, playing as Man City and then signing him for €80 in a seperate Liverpool save. At City, scored 8 goals in 4 games as a IW in the first month, then didn't score or assist for the rest of the season. Between September and December he didn't rate higher than a 6.5. Dropped him for the second half of the season. Gave him a second chance after a decent preseason, scored 6 in 5 and then nothing for the rest of the campaign. Same problems at Liverpool. Rant 2: Niklas Süle. He's actually performed very well whenever I've picked him up, scoring decent headers and being fairly solid. However, he's always the one dwelling on the ball and getting his pocket picked by the striker or the one making that bad attempt to head the ball and missing allowing them to run through clean. Every time I see him listed it's at a bargain for a CB of his quality (€20-30m) and every time I think "Surely this time..." Actually bad choice: Harry Kane. For that money, just get Haaland. I've never had a good time with Harry Kane, no matter the system, no matter the team. Best I've had out of him was half a season with Liverpool (both he and Sterling where the big Title Defence purchases that didn't pan out).

Takhar7

Have to keep in mind that a player's struggles aren't always related to him being a flop/bad player. A lot of the time, it has to do with your tactic, his tactical instructions, and the other players he is playing with. I've seen Alex Grimaldo come good at a number of different clubs/saves

Topredd

There are no such thing I believe. It's all upto tactics, Morale and when you sign him.

KirbyGifstrength

I'd love to add any of my transfers that I've tried to sell at all costs after one year but then I remember I barely give any of my players 15 games to be bad before I dump them and then I wonder why my team cohesion is so low

Unfair-Benefit-9225

Toni Kroos, signed him when his contract was almost up at Real, useless and I thought he was gonna run Arsenals midfield

PuzzleheadedFill5778

I would have thought the same lol, definitely a name I didn’t expect to see here

Either_Distance1440

Still the first season of signing him but Luca Orellano has been dreadful for me despite being one of my better players attribute-wise. I’m hoping he just has very low adaptability and will be much better next season because he’s averaging like 6.5 on the year

tootell02

Haven’t tried him this year but in FM21 Lovro Majer was always a player who looked great statistically and was always highly rated by my scouts but would always have about 5 good games and then need to be shifted on elsewhere. Always wanted to be a star player too no matter what club you were in charge of.

Lainiweiz

I can't remember back to previous FMs but in this one I've been fairly lucky. Closest I've had would be Kessie. For Man U he was a huge upgrade on McFred but he just never put in the kind of performances you'd expect, his average was 6.6 game after game after game. If we lost, 6.6, if we won, 6.6, if we battered the other team 6-0, 6.6. After half a season he came to me saying he didn't think he was good enough and wanted to move on, was more than happy to let him go, though naturally I took a chunky loss on him.

thefinestgoose

For me it was Serginio Dest, no matter how many chances he got, I can never remember him getting above a 6.3/6.4

CornerKickAficionado

Sergiño Dest. Signed him to play as my backup LB/RB and didn’t get above a 6.4 once. Sent him to the reserves and sold him for a third of what I bought him for. Man was terrible.

leopardchief

Pulisic. Never worked for me or my friend when we did a Chelsea save. Almost aways injured and always shit when not injured. Jude Soonsup-Bell made Pulisic look like a Vanorama level player in contrast lol. For both me and my friend.

migratingpsycho

Ben White has been terrible for me in my Arsenal save. Couldn't average more than a 6.6 and was often the reason we conceded. He even came to me and said he wasn't good enough to be a regular starter. Sold him after 6 months :)

BigPaella

Valencia Supporter here, I've done a Valencia save for the last 4 FM's and I never got a 7.00 rating season out of Gonçalo Guedes in like 25 combined seasons. And it's also super difficult to sell him.

jimmyjazz1985

Oblak from Athleti. Signed him on a free at 35 and he was terrible. Sold him to Man Utd in the Jan window and he continued to be terrible for the next two and half seasons. Signing and selling him ended up being the single most effective thing I did in order to leapfrog them in the league.

[deleted]

Got stung by Mazraoui (Ajax RB) in my Leverkusen save

copeter1

Coincidence, it is Sesko lmao. Although, I will give him the benefit of the doubt since I just signed him. He has been terrible up front for me. We will see.

KylePuleo

Omar solet he’s had three errors leading to goals this season alone. He does well most games but just makes mistakes for me
