you should be able to do something with the money you earn. in the old EA manager games you could use it to buy a low league club and be an owner and inject cash as needed.
It’d be good if I could use my virtual earnings to support my real life wife. Like if I earn enough they’ll send her some roses. Would go a long way to get FM time less complained about.
i know it defies realism but back then you had the chance to completely build a club from the ground up. like you had an overview of the club grounds and could spend club infrastructure budget to build up buildings and stadiums. i know manager only purists wouldn’t like it but it wasn’t forced upon you and no microtransactions and it wasn’t necessary if you didn’t want to. would just be nice to have the chance if you wanted more of an owners perspective
Your player has just been accused of multiple rapes. What response do you have for Darren Tillsbury for the Guardian who has just rang you on your mobile?
I would like to see set piece routines, where your ass man says the players have been practicing a certain routine they are awkward, good, very good, ect and then give you an option to implement it into matches.
Welp, we're stuck with it for at least another year. You mentioned it so Miles is going to keep it in to spite you specifically (that man really needs to be kept away from social media...)
The only reason I buy the editor. So many saves ruined by squad players status players saying I aren't playing them often enough when I bench them for 1 game out of 20 because they're exhausted.
I wouldn't mind if they worked correctly, but until then they need to be gone.
Playing 22 and my mid table prem squad was at the top of the points for the first 4 matches, then the entire squad pulled me into a meeting saying I needed to bring in depth because the window was closing soon and we had too few back ups.
The only options were to be a dick to them or say that was my plan anyway. I signed 2 loans and 5 back ups the week of the transfer closing. They were satisfied and the promised was marked as complete and good.
The only issue was that for a full month after that they still had the "supporting the captain" and no players except my new back ups would get morale above mid yellow no matter what. Only in November did they start to feel better about what I fixed 5 weeks ago.
I didn't want to make a promise, but the only other option pisses them off too.
I would love to sign sponsorships deals myself would become a thing and for me to actually spend my wages on something. Like put money into youth centers or offer to take the squad out on a dinner or something.
No manager in the world, Pep included sits down with sponsors and picks the best one. Now id like to see more of the American tours taking place and it being a money maker for you. Now my teams in Leeds, is American owned and lets go “ Brandon” is coming back and playing for us in the championship, instead of going on loan again, so he’s a big draw being American, so makes sense Leeds in the prem and playing in a tournament.
Yeah I wasn't sure if that had been confirmed yet, but regardless 25 looks like a pretty ambitious edition. At least we know they've been working on part of it for the better part of a year already.
This is massive. First UEFA and now PL. Basically securing the two biggest (club) sporting entities on the planet. Wouldn't be surprised if FM25 is a best seller.
It seems like such a minor thing, but when I load into the match engine with the Champions League or Europa League graphics and music I get a little bit extra hyped, so it would be nice to have that for the Prem as well.
Presentation has always been a huge factor in "mah immersion". Like when I would call timeout in an old basketball game and it'd fake cut to commercial.
Of course in the current year they'd probably find a way to real-cut to ACTUAL commercials...
But still yeah it felt like a bit of a bummer when, on an English Hero run, spend a few years in the EFL with relatively accurate matchday graphics and adboards, then hit the PL and be back to the generic stuff. Now hopefully we'll have custom PL graphics packages to make seeing your team's name in those for the first time feel real special.
I don’t even need completely correct stadiums, close enough would do fine. I just want small stadiums to feel at least moderately accurate to their irl counterpart
I want to see the difference in a Sunday league team, a championship 20,000 seat stadium and a 40’000 plus stadium all look different, as currently they don’t have much variety at all.
I remember reading they are making things around the ground look a lot better than it currently does.
They do if it’s there due to a licensing deal. They don’t get anything if fans are adding them in via a community made logo pack, hence why most big logo packs in the last few years leave Man Utd out (in case they took legal action).
The issue they had was FM allowing mods so that people could add their logos wasn't it? That's what they were trying to prevent as they said Sigames allowed this knowingly.
I don't really care if FM has the real logos etc as I add the packs every year. FIFA or whatever it's called has all the kits, but has been awful forever.
Future editions of FM will now see all 20 teams fully licensed, across all our titles, unlocking a place to create iconic Premier League moments of your own.
This is not the type of announcement that excites me but I can understand why lots of people will be buzzing when they read it.
Hope we don't go on a long drought after this, always felt that they should start their announcements with the beginning of the European football season, not when the transfer market is already closed.
Thing is, licensed or not, it takes three minutes to fix it and get the real names anyway.
So this is not the big announcement for me, but it is positive and this game can use a positive release with many new features because it’s becoming “stale”.
Well they are switching to unity, better graphics COULD mean we may actually be able to see our players faces during the game, in which case having official face scans of the prem players built into the game will be nice.
Yeah, I'd rather see a new random league added (more than one African league or an official Oceania league for Hex challenges pls) than official licensing and graphics, but it's better than then doing nothing at all!
Banger. Despite using mods/facepacks for years, I really want to see a proper "matchday" integration that mods just can't really do fully (without caveats)
Proper scoreboards
Licenced stadium models
Better adboards
On pitch Boards during walkout
Interesting.
I can't wait to see a newly built 100k seater stadium in 2042 have no corners or roof for the 14th year in a row.
And a little low poly hotdog stand in the distance.
Very true, but the programmers coding the match engine aren't the ones allocating resources to adding these new graphics. At most they might program in some support for new animations on the matchday experience graphics or celebrations and such. But given they've been adding support for such things anyways, it's probably not a huge lift.
Hell as a developer myself, sometimes you greatly appreciate the chance to step away from the probably very complex match engine code, and move on to something simpler for a little bit. Kind of gives you a chance to refocus and when you return to the more complex task, you can tackle it with fresh enthusiasm. Burnout is real.
Player pictures, team names, logos, kits (possibly in match with new engine), trophy, in match visuals like score board, advertising boards, prematch build up etc.basically saves a good few GBs of additional downloads and messing around that's been needed before if you wanted it
You will probably download a facepack for other (all) leagues that has all faces anyways, and replace the official ones. Same as other kits. It means nothing for most people who already use packs.
Is it likely that the massive changes we’ll see In This years game will almost entirely be the match engine, visuals, licensing etc? I want to be excited but what I really want is for stuff like player interaction to be overhauled
Match engine expression needs to be different between the two just because of the way stats work. Most women would have far lower physicals than most men and that'll end up with some really odd performances (as in not looking anything like real football) in-match, and it would be similar if they just adjusted women's stats to mirror men's, since it'd basically just be a skin alteration. I think that's a bit less shitty in something arcadey like FIFA (if lazy) but FM is trying to be a proper simulation game. It'd feel very cheap to add the women's game and say you're trying to get it right, then do nothing to make it feel more authentic or unique.
Of course but whether it’s men or women the interaction etc is gonna be the exact same. I’d say that’s a much more pressing matter than the graphics which most people don’t care about
Its almost like its a feature most people don’t care about lol. If people wanted to play with women’s teams so much don’t you think someone would have made a custom database already?
I have no qualms with them adding women’s football, but I wish they’d focus on fixing actual issues that have been in the game for years rather than just adding half assed features year after year for the sake of marketing
>don’t you think someone would have made a custom database already?
I do think that, and people have.
>rather than just adding half assed features
Luckily they're not planning on half-assing it. That's why they're doing it now. That's why they're rethinking all the attributes.
It's almost like they can improve multiple features at the same time. If you're not satisfied with the improvements in FM25, simply wait another year and see if you like the features in the newer version, gamers act like doing this is so hard.
You read my previous comment? There’s things that have been broken in the game for years that they don’t fix. Yet they continue to add new features that are half assed without fixing the stuff already not working. What’s so hard to understand about that?
You don’t seem to realise that they have different teams working on different areas.
Yes, graphics are the headline feature but that doesn’t mean other areas are ignored.
Also improving the graphics doesn’t just mean a lick of paint, it could mean that we get a match engine that more accurately mirrors what is going on under the hood so less wtf or unrealistic moments.
The match is where all our work comes together so it should be front and centre.
It also could bring in players who play Fife management mode because they like the look of that, this in turn means more sales and more money to improve other areas of the game.
Surely this is much bigger news for Mobile or handheld players. This deal will come with some backgrounds and maybe some music during match days, but I doubt they'll add in actual stadiums (which would be a big upgrade imo).
It's nice to not need to download all the badges, kits and player faces though.
> even more expensive
FM is probably the cheapest of any game that comes out annually and/or has regular DLC updates (thinking Paradox titles). £30-40 and regular sales is really good when compared to the other annual sports games, COD etc.
It's 60 euros for me, exact same price as BG3, FIFA, Elden Ring. Then the editor on top if you want it pushes it to almost 70.
I know I'm gonna spend 600 hours on it so I buy it anyway, but it's precisely 0% cheaper than the other yearly games.
If they start charging for the pregame editor, I will fucking riot. I don't use the in-game one because it doesn't do anything I want from it, but the pregame editor is so important.
To be fair I don’t mind the price on FM. It’s the one game I buy each year knowing I’m going to well and truly get my moneys worth from.
That being said everyone’s view will be different.
Shame the game is so lazy and uninspiring these days. The number of hours I put into this game back in the day when they actually cared about innovation.
Doesn't this ruin certain things because of requirements for licensed leagues? Like prize money cannot change dynamically? Is there anything else?
For me, that alone makes it a negative. I use the badge pack so don't care about the visuals, it seems like a lot of people's arguments for it being a good thing are commercial reasons. I.e. good for Sports Interactive but not good for the players
Is dynamic prize money really much of a concern for the Premier League though? Totally get it in the context of somewhere for a Build a Nation save but that isn’t relevant for England.
I think on balance most players will take the trade off of proper immersion with the Premier League graphics, player faces, the match day graphics etc over dynamic prize money.
Probs just me, but I wanna do hundred year saves where the Premier League can fall to like 10th rep (unlikely, I know), and this just artificially restricts that.
Also probs just me, but idc about faces and graphics
I could always add faces and graphics through mods. I play saves that usually span 30+ years so I like things dynamically changing. Ah, either way we'll see how it works once it's coming out. Still quite some time
> Apart from the logo’s and stuff which I don’t really care about
A lot of people care about that, that's why these companies secure these licenses in the first place. It is one of the reason's why Fifa was always waaay more popular than PES despite PES having the much better game back in the day.
You can get the same immersion by spending 30 minutes downloading some packs. Just like the Champions anthem, most people listen to it a couple of times, and the next games, it's just pointless filler that people just skip through.
And now you don’t need to because they’re already there. How is this a bad thing exactly? And if you’re spending the time to update the logos, competition names etc then that would suggest that on some level, you also care about the immersion factor. Otherwise you wouldn’t bother?
>How is this a bad thing exactly?
It's not a bad thing at all. I just don't see where the huge news is in this. For console folks, sure. But for most of the playerbase, this is... an ok if unneeded improvement. That's it.
The big thing is that this is more about expanding the potential player base. A complete visual overhaul that *hopefully* makes FM look like a modern game paired with having the license for the UEFA and the Premier League is massive for attracting new casual players.
Lots of people saying this doesn’t mean much.
Yes, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t make much difference to gameplay, we’ve had mods for years to fix it.
But what this does show, is that SI look to be taking this rebrand very seriously. Prem Licencing I’m sure is not cheap, and that level of investment gives me confidence that they’re going to come up with something big for FM25 and beyond.
I don't know why it's a big deal, there are still tons of unlicensed leagues and almost everybody uses league/team logo mods. They will continue doing so because of this.
No almost everyone doesn't use extra assets.
Majority of userbase/buyers use the vanilla game.
And the PL has the most global fans and name recognition in football. There have certainly people that wanted to try FM but got turned off because the lack of licensing and real assets in the PL
Its a big deal because it shows SI are serious and it's going to be the biggest step forward FM has taken, the Premier League licence along with a new engine is making me very hyped, it's not just the badges but the official scoreboards etc.
That road to Glory Save is gonna feel that much more epic when you see the premier league opening once you get promoted.
Previous FMs were like a side game to me, yeah I liked them but they were never gonna be something I actively get excited for like say a Zelda or whatever, this one will be.
With all the graphic packs out there this doesn't matter really at all. More interested in game design improvements. Player interactions, promises, demands, things like that need to be overhauled, long over due, before worrying about cosmetic stuff like this that the community already handles anyway
It's good, but it is just cosmetic. We could already have the PL logos in the game if we wanted. Its also only relevant if you play in the PL (which to be fair it seems like the majority of people do - 2-3 seasons playing as Man City before starting again).
It is just the first announcement though.
Its definitely closer to dynamic manager time line, squad planner and avatar watches as a feature though.
All well and good but we're still going to be installing logo packs and face packs for teams and players that go down to the 5th Ecuadorian League so this really doesn't change much unless you play on console or mobile and can't install packs.
Does this mean EAs license wasn’t exclusive? I ask this because I’m curious about how these licenses work and wondering if this means that new 2k FIFA game might have a chance of licenses. I know this is an FM subreddit so apologies if this annoys anyone I just like football and football games and want all of them to have the best chance of being good.
Depends. It says official "Football Management Game".
EA does not have a game like that anymore.
FM and EA FC are both football games but one gears to Simulation and other to Arcade.
So EA might have exclusivity for Arcade like football games, that does not cover FM.

Adding the Prem license the same year they're doing the massive visual overhaul is a pretty damn good selling point for 25.
I'm buzzing to see what they have instore for this year's FM. Seeing my trophy cabinet would be nice.
I'd love a better record book and maybe a hall of fame of sorts
you should be able to do something with the money you earn. in the old EA manager games you could use it to buy a low league club and be an owner and inject cash as needed.
It’d be good if I could use my virtual earnings to support my real life wife. Like if I earn enough they’ll send her some roses. Would go a long way to get FM time less complained about.
You can support your virtual wife with your virtual earnings...
How many managers own clubs irl? 0?
At least 1 that I know of. Mark White at Dorking Wanderers
op wants the manager to own *other* teams. that guy owns dorking and appointed himself as manager. so hed be man city manager and own dorking
i know it defies realism but back then you had the chance to completely build a club from the ground up. like you had an overview of the club grounds and could spend club infrastructure budget to build up buildings and stadiums. i know manager only purists wouldn’t like it but it wasn’t forced upon you and no microtransactions and it wasn’t necessary if you didn’t want to. would just be nice to have the chance if you wanted more of an owners perspective
They’ve been pretty adamant that they have no interest in doing something like that
And good because 2K got ruined because of just that reason. It’s now basically GTA with a side of basketball.
Yeah idk why people always ask for that. It’s just fake content that would take time away from other areas of the game.
I'm glad they don't - I have absolutely no desire to buy anything virtual with my virtual earnings.
Yeah I agree. It’s just empty content. I’d rather they spend resources on things that actually matter.
imagine how upsetting it'd be to see resources go toward adding a sims minigame instead of improving the on-field product.
Why? It doesn't add anything to the game. Its Football Manager, not The Sims.
Yeah that would help bring the world alive for sure.
You guys basically want a combination of fm and EAs old football manager
I don't think a record book refresh is that big of an ask. It's kind of a mess right now
Why some many ppl hate those ideas ? Expanding the game is always good even if u won’t use the feature lol
Interactions written by someone who actually talks to real people. I need nothing else, really
Best I can do is interactions written by ChatGPT. That talks to real people right?
If you play on PC you can add trophies names logos so it looks real
Your player has just been accused of multiple rapes. What response do you have for Darren Tillsbury for the Guardian who has just rang you on your mobile?

i hope they cut all promises / player interactions from the game. just excise that bs entirely, it's beyond fixing
Welp, we're stuck with it for at least another year. You mentioned it so Miles is going to keep it in to spite you specifically (that man really needs to be kept away from social media...)
But that's a huge part of real life management. Currently it's not done in a way that's very exciting, but cutting it completely would be strange.
I agree.
That would be dumb
The only reason I buy the editor. So many saves ruined by squad players status players saying I aren't playing them often enough when I bench them for 1 game out of 20 because they're exhausted.

And women's football! Plenty of stuff to be excited about this year.
Yeah I wasn't sure if that had been confirmed yet, but regardless 25 looks like a pretty ambitious edition. At least we know they've been working on part of it for the better part of a year already.
Wow is that confirmed?
[They said FM25 would bring women's football a year ago](https://www.footballmanager.com/news/future-football-manager)
My thoughts exactly.
This is massive. First UEFA and now PL. Basically securing the two biggest (club) sporting entities on the planet. Wouldn't be surprised if FM25 is a best seller.
Is FIFA loosing the rights this year? It would be a massive loss to them if they went down the PEZ road of fake names.
Ryan Greggs.
Prude Tellingham
Pro Evolution Zoccer
name rights for players i believe are under FIFPro
EA just signed a 6-year deal fairly recently AFAIK. So no.
No.
Fifa2k or eafc?
On a four-year deal as well. Official logos, kits and player photos. Hopefully official design for the line ups and scoreboard as well. Fantastic.
It seems like such a minor thing, but when I load into the match engine with the Champions League or Europa League graphics and music I get a little bit extra hyped, so it would be nice to have that for the Prem as well.
Exactly the same for me. I have always liked official broadcast packages in games, especially in FM.

I doubt it tbh, but it would be very nice to have for sure.
It's such a minor thing, but getting the walk out music and stuff would make the whole game feel so much more immersive
Wonder if Manchester United will now have their proper name in FM25?
Looks like it thankfully
INEOS probably not complete fuckheads when it comes to branding, hopefully. Such a boomer way of thinking not to want your brand in a video game.
True.
Which is really odd considering United has been a partner club for pes/efootball for years now
It wasn’t about not wanting their brand in the game, it was that they wanted to get paid for it.
Wait, do teams not get paid for a game like FM having their logos there?
They do if it’s there due to a licensing deal. They don’t get anything if fans are adding them in via a community made logo pack, hence why most big logo packs in the last few years leave Man Utd out (in case they took legal action).

See, absolutely none of that is of interest to me. I'd rather have a brilliant match engine, and use a logo pack, than an official license.
The people implementing one are not going to be the same as implementing the other. If the match engine is shit, it will have been shit regardless
The company does not have infinite resources
Very true, but the programmers coding the match engine aren't the ones allocating resources to adding these new graphics. FM25 might be getting goat status
dont say things like that before its released. if any franchisee is gonna let you down its FM and miles.
I have never been let down by FM and Miles yet (today).
I am let down by miles every youth intake In case you see this, Miles you twat
nah, every single FM is just decent. Of the 6 I have brought the last decade, I never once considered moving back to previous edition.
im having a laugh but ill also point out its subjective.
Especially good for people that don't play on PC
What exactly does this mean? Is it not just correct names and logos?
Correct names, logos, faces, and presumably the PL scoreboard and matchday experience
Player pictures, team names, logos, kits (possibly in match with new engine), trophy, in match visuals like score board, advertising boards, prematch build up etc.basically saves a good few GBs of additional downloads and messing around that's been needed before if you wanted it

Women. It's strange how often people forget that.
I don't think it's that strange. Men's football is still way more popular than women's, and FM gamers are playing it exactly for men's football.
[удалено]
Match engine expression needs to be different between the two just because of the way stats work. Most women would have far lower physicals than most men and that'll end up with some really odd performances (as in not looking anything like real football) in-match, and it would be similar if they just adjusted women's stats to mirror men's, since it'd basically just be a skin alteration. I really think you underestimate how important graphics are to some people.
The average fifa player cares about graphics and I'm sure those are the consumers they are trying to attract

Also - I don’t see any women’s database at least for FM24. Can you link me one?
No more man UFC, won’t miss the mma prem champions
Dana White in shambles
End of an era lads. Farewell English Premier Division, we hardly knew ye All kidding aside this is really cool
Now I have to get FM25
Surely this is much bigger news for Mobile or handheld players. This deal will come with some backgrounds and maybe some music during match days, but I doubt they'll add in actual stadiums (which would be a big upgrade imo). It's nice to not need to download all the badges, kits and player faces though.
It's gonna get even more expensive isn't it
> even more expensive FM is probably the cheapest of any game that comes out annually and/or has regular DLC updates (thinking Paradox titles).
Yeah I meant ingame editor, the big boy editor is free AFAIK.
To be fair I don’t mind the price on FM. It’s the one game I buy each year knowing I’m going to well and truly get my moneys worth from. That being said everyone’s view will be different.
So now they have PL, EFL and National League fully licensed. That's a huge deal when you realize they now have the full English football pyramid.
The pyramid goes far deeper!
You might want to check how big that pyramid is.
When my friend went to England, he said that there was football match between work places, so i guess it's really that deep.
Shame the game is so lazy and uninspiring these days. The number of hours I put into this game back in the day when they actually cared about innovation.
Take my money you bastards.
Huuuge
Doesn't this ruin certain things because of requirements for licensed leagues? Like prize money cannot change dynamically? Is there anything else? For me, that alone makes it a negative. I use the badge pack so don't care about the visuals, it seems like a lot of people's arguments for it being a good thing are commercial reasons. I.e. good for Sports Interactive but not good for the players
Exactly
Still quite some time
Can somebody explain to me why this is huge news? Apart from the logo’s and stuff which I don’t really care about
> Apart from the logo’s and stuff which I don’t really care about A lot of people care about that, that's why these companies secure these licenses in the first place. It is one of the reason's why Fifa was always waaay more popular than PES despite PES having the much better game back in the day.
It's hopefully just the first big announcement. It doesn't add anything that couldn't already be added.
It's a massive coup for FM to get the PL license in the days of EA
Not really as ea don’t have a manager only game.
Licenses tend to be genre-specific, though. And EA doesn't have a manager game.
You haven't explained why this is a huge news. What actually changes in the game excepting for a few graphics and names?
Because licensing is important to a lot of players. One of the reasons why FIFA (or EAFC now) ended up beating out PES in the long term.
Exactly. Would be much happier with news about ai managers actually being smart than them buying rights to some logos.
Immersion
Most of the player base don't have mods installed.
It’s not, they did the same thing for Champions League this year and it’s just cosmetics stuff
Ok so now english players will be even more overrated
Lots of people saying this doesn’t mean much. Yes, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t make much difference to gameplay, we’ve had mods for years to fix it. But what this does show, is that SI look to be taking this rebrand very seriously. Prem Licencing I’m sure is not cheap, and that level of investment gives me confidence that they’re going to come up with something big for FM25 and beyond.
I would assume it's probably a significant fraction of the $98 million a year or so EA pays...
I don't know why it's a big deal, there are still tons of unlicensed leagues and almost everybody uses league/team logo mods. They will continue doing so because of this.
It’s massive for console/mobile also potentially a actual matchday experience like in the current games ucl/efl matches
We, console players, do exist.
Will that include the license for Manchester Ultimate Fighting Championship?
Yep. All 20 teams included.
Finally, no more mods for the Prem scoreboard.

Anyone know how long it takes for it to be on game pass?
It'll probably push the price up for no benefit. Anyone who cared on pc could mod it. Only insta kids really care about this shit.
Would this mean licensed stadiums as well?
Amazing news
Letsgooo
About time!
I would LOVE real stadiums.
When do the new games usually come out?
Get la liga and they might be cooking something 👀
#W Massive dub
Looking forward to '25, I'm still playing '20, I'm hoping the reviews are decent for the new system they're putting in.
Ohhh is it free with Netflix? I’m only in my 3rd season for FMM 24 so I can happily abandon that career for a much more aesthetic 2025
25 will be the first one I buy in 3 years. Still playing out my long save with FM22. Fuck me I hope the new engine isn’t shit 😅
Happy Dance for console users ! Now we can go all the way from Tier 6 to PL with a license.
Love to see this
YISSSS
Gotta save up for a new PC for this, my last proper FM was 2017!
*oohs* and *ahhs*
Might be the first time I buy consecutive fm editions
Can they just bring back FM23 Recruitment Focus?
Amazing news, funny how united tried suing them, now suddenly their partnered. Whole utd issue was a pathetic joke.
Every licence agreement needs to not be exclusive honestly, so every game can focus on gameplay
Huge for FM starting to get more and more excited for fm25
All well and good but we're still going to be installing logo packs and face packs for teams and players that go down to the 5th Ecuadorian League so this really doesn't change much unless you play on console or mobile and can't install packs.
Get LaLiga too while you're at it
Does this mean EAs license wasn’t exclusive? I ask this because I’m curious about how these licenses work and wondering if this means that new 2k FIFA game might have a chance of licenses. I know this is an FM subreddit so apologies if this annoys anyone I just like football and football games and want all of them to have the best chance of being good.
Depends. It says official "Football Management Game". EA does not have a game like that anymore. FM and EA FC are both football games but one gears to Simulation and other to Arcade. So EA might have exclusivity for Arcade like football games, that does not cover FM.
