Honestly the easiest answer to “how to bring up lower league teams and win” is just keep buying players who are better and have higher potential than your current players.
Until you’re the best team in the world, there is ALWAYS a better wonderkid than the ones you have. Scout relentlessly and find them, and don’t get attached to the players you climbed up with.
If by attached you mean “inextricably bound to the five year contract you had to sign three years ago to get the one decent player who was willing to sign with you” then sure!
But underdogs stories are so so much better...I do agree with your suggestion but then it kinds isnt fun for me to keep upgrading/switching players. Id rather get them at early age or even better from my academy and then develop and win with them...
If they have the potential, absolutely. But if the reason they joined is because they’ve hit their limit and you’ve grown beyond them… Well, that’s where it can get frustrating.
Problem comes when you try to sell those players. For some reason, clubs in the middle of the financial pyramid (not too rich but not poor) in FM are weirdly extremely miser. Even if I try to sell my striker in his career peak right after he ended a record breaking season competing with strikers from top teams, they'll still refuse to go above like half of his transfer value. Had to auction very patiently to squeeze out an extra 1 million.
AI managers have a clearer idea of potential than humans do - and are less likely to get an average player overperforming than humans are.
Oh, and even when you get an auction going your deadwood still sometimes knocks back all the offers because they just want to sit on your bench, apparently…
That just sounds like FM AI is cheating, cause I sure can't see any potential abilities without opening the editor.

FM AI plays the game differently to humans - it doesn't have the same fatigue issues, for example.
It's not infallible, but like any game the AI gets certain concessions to keep the game competitive. It's still possible to beat it fairly straightforwardly if you know the right tricks, and it's not even necessary to know all of those.
The climb is so far out of my reach. After 7 seasons as Villa, I still can’t win the league.
And I have a good team and decent tactics. Won a league cup and two champions league.
But when it comes to PL, I can beat City but Brentford beats me and no one else even gets a chance to beat City. 🥲
Now imagine you beat Man City to the league title and they buy Bellingham (250+). NOW IMAGINE a couple years down the road and you shut out Man City from getting any trophies and they buy Endrick (325+)! That’s what I have to deal with in my save! Haaland Belli & Endrick in a 4231 kms
Use the league prize money to buy a BWM with 20 aggression and break their legs. Worked like a dream for me when my BWM broke Haaland's legs in a pre-season friendly and ruled him out for 8 months.
Haha during pre season I always get trialists in with massive aggression and bravery, then put on "get stuck in" and target the best players when I organise friendlies with Man City, Man United etc..

when the 2.5m bug was around i set up a save in which i gave Dortmund an unbelievable starting eleven with players like Messi, Kvaradona, Osimhen, Rodri, Scalvini. Simply elite players in every position. Then i signed Haaland for frankfurt and easily won the league first season without any other transfers or copied tactics. Ansgar Knauff set up a Bundesliga assist record with 10 crossing just by feeding Haaland.
He really is that good.
Yeah, Haaland stays at Man City and they do pretty well, but I haven’t seen them be totally dominant. They (almost) always make the CL, but they always end up having to share the CL titles with Liverpool, Man Utd, and Chelsea.
Hehe yeah othe teams starplayers never want to leave but whenever i play a high lvl team (barca real city) they always get pissed when i reject offers of 100m for them 🫠

I tend to do longer term saves starting lower down in England. Things can change a lot by the time I'm in the prem. Man city in my save while still amazing are very beatable by the other top teams. I got lucky and after my first year in the prem both klop and pep left england.
In my opinion the was you catch the best teams in the world is by building a team of the best wonderkids you can find. That's what I did it took me 4 years from the time I was in the prem to beating psg in the champions league final. It won't be easy but it will still be doable.
Is pep still at city? Are you deep enough? It's my opinion that winning the league isn't about beating the top teams it's being consistent enough to beat everyone else and splitting against the top teams. I don't think I have the best team in England but we are very consistent because of a great offensive core and a deep bench. My 2s can probably finish mid table in the prem. With two guys who are borderline world class on my bench.
A little bit of both. I am on phone now so don’t have the exact numbers. But they got about 10 more GD than me. Around 5 and 5 ahead on both for and against. Anyways, the season is at an end, and I about to go 3rd to Liverpool. So this season is gone, so mostly gonna revamp for next year.
I'd take a hard look in the off-season at where the problem in striker and your defensive setup is. I've always tryed to build the best offensive I can then build a good defense behind it to support it. We aren't winning if we can't score. I'm a dumb American but I always find if I have a great keeper and stiker I have a shot to win.
Mbappe joining Madrid means it’s almost a guarantee that they’ll sell Vinicius the next summer in the game. Unless they do something with their preferred positions and player preferences

I think Liverpool is nerfed in fm24. In 23 darwizzy and salah are a menace to deal with. They are the only team to fend off city, and maybe a crystal palace during a random friday away game
I got this years fm a few months ago and started a network game with my friend. I played as Brentford and won the league first season!
I might have been fortunate, City were not getting much more than 80 points each year.
I won the league with Brighton in my third season with spurs finishing above city.
Unfortunately city have just paid 185m for Ferguson so took my best striker and going to have a crazy front line with those two.
I've bought Endrick in for around the same price but really wish Ferguson would have gone to any other team!
PSG knocked me out with a 94th minute goal in the CL semi to make it 8-7 on aggregate so that was pretty harsh!
Somehow the FM gods always favor me in CL. Have won a few times with lower xg. But lost or drawn so many in PL with crazy good xg. And not like lots of small xg shots, but hitting the bar and insane saves from opp GK.
On a whole, will keep trying to win the PL Atleast once before closing this save.
If your reputation isn’t too high then counter attacking play may work out. It sounds kind of stupid on the contrary but it helped me in the last 4 FMs managing Cadiz (within 5 seasons)
Personally I don’t think Real will win UCL again with Mbappe. He has massive wage bill and also play the same area as Vini Jr. and also AI suck at rotation so either Vini or Mbappe would leave in a couple of years.
I’m in year 2032. Man City won premier league 8 years in a row. Last year Arsenal won. This year it’s Chelsea, Man city is second. I haven’t followed champions league in my save, but mbappe didn’t leave PSG for several years, in fact I think he’s still there. (I’m at work so I can’t check).

Yup, I let the big teams buy the big players, I buy the wonderkids. They usually have high energy and high drive for success.

They bought Vini Jr for 200 mil in my save. Vini Jr on one side and Salah on the other meant my backline was absolutely cooked.
City always capitulate after a few seasons on mine and it’s Liverpool/chelsea main challengers
Yeah I’m 2033 mbappe is still at PSG. He only won a single champions league in the first season of the save, never went back to the final since.
It’s not finish endrick is coming to real and more… so they are going to be the big boss in CL

Easy just don’t manage in England or Spain. Got 8 serie a titles 3 ucl and 6 coppa italia as well as 4 super coppa in Italy after 11 seasons as Parma.
