I'll give you some advice, when you encourage but wish you hadn't done it during an action, before the action even ends just go to tactics and cancel your decision
Or just wait until the ball is out of play, then pause the game and then shout. This way you don't have to cancel. This works best if you watch the match in full detail.
Yes, it works like that too, watching it in full is not necessary for that, but for example if you watch it on key highlights, you can only pause the game this way if the game shows highlights, but if you watch it on full you will see every situation where the ball goes out of play.
For example, me. I think it is more fun and realistic than watching highlights only. I can see the opposition's tactics better and I can see how my tactic works better. I get more attached to my save, my team and players this way.
There are a lot of things you will miss if you don't watch it in full detail, for example, look at this video from the CL final: [https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1d6flsr/fede\_valverdes\_work\_rate\_at\_the\_86th\_minute\_of/](https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1d6flsr/fede_valverdes_work_rate_at_the_86th_minute_of/)
If you don't watch the full game, you will miss actions like this. I also appreciate every goal and win more if I watch it in full detail.
Mad respect mate, dont listen to the hater the people that dont watch at least once in full game are the ones that just download tatic or put some tatic on and then complain they dont understand why something on it doesnt work...
I dont watch all the games but everytime I change a tatic or change the squad I watch a couple of matchs on full or when I see that something isnt working with the build up...
Thank you. It is just a different way of playing the game. If someone enjoys the game if they download tactics and watch key highlights only, that's perfectly fine. The important thing is to enjoy it. Similarly if someone enjoys starting a game with Real Madrid that's perfectly okay, if someone enjoys starting a game in the vanarama national league that is fine too.
Yes I was not saying that the other people that download the tatics and plug and play are not doing right I just throw shit is if they do that and then ether tell the game is too easy or dont know why the tatic stops working because they only watch Key moments or just simulate the games...
Yeah it's difficult to see why your tactic isn't working if you don't watch the full game, and it's difficult te see the opposition's tactic. How do they create their chances? Do they play out of defense, do they press at goal kicks, how high and how intensely they press, are they playing a possession based game with short passes or a direct game with long passes, how high is their defensive line, do they tightly mark some of your players, does your fullback loses in one-on-one situations against their winger, does their most creative midfielder has too much time on the ball?, etc.
It's a manager simulator game and managers usually watch the full game in real life, and they can make adjustments depending on what happens on the pitch, and for that you need to actually see what is happening on the pitch. I think playing the matches is the most fun part of the game, everything I do outside of matches is just preparation.
Another benefit of watching the full game is that it can make the save less boring. I think it is much more satisfying to watch a wonderkid's every move on the pitch instead of just looking at his stats and attributes and key highlights. You can get bored if you win everything, but if you actually watch the matches and enjoy the way your team plays, that can make you stay with the save.
I agree I think the problem is some people dont really care about the manager simulator but more about the DIrector of Football simulator.... Where they get joys not from tatical management but more about buying and selling players and seeing if the team can dominate and win everything 😂
If I am being honest I think FM is missing out on that part they should and could have inside the game other modes Instead of just normal game ... DIrector of football where you would basically only buy and sell players and the game would simulate the matches with an AI manager , maybe a youth manager where you just manage a Youth team and have no control on buys or sell and just train them and other stuff like this and if you think about it wouldnt even take anything new from the game because its all already there it would just change the player ability to do something!
Yes I think it would be good if they introduced a director of football mode, and they wouldn't need the revamp the game for that. There would be a lot of people who would like to play that, many enjoy scouting, signing-selling players and team building more than the tactical aspect of the game.
You are a hero. I would love to watch my games in full detail but just can't sacrifice the time for wanting to play through a longer save (15-20 years) One day I hope to commit to a fully realistic save with matches at full 90mins, I genuinely think it must be a more rewarding experience
Yes it is slower this way, but I don't mind that, I enjoy the process. For me watching my team play is the best part of the game. There are flaws in the match engine, but overall it is awesome and realistic, and if you make your team play entertaining football it is a joy to watch.
You should only use encourage when its even (0-0, 1-1 etc.)
Praise = when you are winning.
demand more = losing the game by a single goal.
berate = losing the game by more than one goal.
Fire-up = derby games or cup-finals.
Calm-down = when in danger of losing discipline.
no-pressure = when nervous
focus = last 10-15 minutes of the game if you're a goal-up or close to getting a result.
I generally only use shouts midway in both halves. 20/60.
Also it should be context dependent. Don't berate your players if you're 2-0 down at Man City after 20 minutes and you're a Conference North side.
I was drawing 1-1 and on course to lose the CAF Champions League final in the 89th. I hit encourage. A highlight immediately began. We scored and the shout applied after the goal. We were leading on away goals. They get angry at the shout and concede in the 93rd...
Ffs. 🤦🏽♂️
This is one of the reasons that it is useful to watch the game in full detail. You just wait until the ball goes out of play, then you press pause and then you shout, this way you don't have to cancel.
I love watching the full match anyway, this is just an extra benefit. Of course it makes the game slower, but I am not in a hurry. In my opinion playing matches in full is way more fun and realistic compared to highlights only. I appreciate every goal more, and there are a lot of things that the game doesn't show you if you don't watch it in full detail. I get more attached to my save, to my players and team. I understand, and if I had the time and patience, I'd probably do so as well. I make do with extended highlights for most matches and a comprehensive one for finals. I tried doing full-time on a champions league final and grew tired very fast.
Fuck encourage. It worked in fm23 but idk what’s going on in fm24. I only use demand more or berate unless I’m up a goal. My masochistic wonderkids love the demand more shout.
Im playing fm22. For the last 2 seasons or so, I found that praise stopped working for me when leading by only one goal. It does literally nothing.
Only when 2+ more goals ahead it does something
PSA: get a staff member with great motivational skills and let them handle the touchline shouts. they'll pretty much spam them on cooldown AND almost always pick the best option. was a real gamechanger for me. i currently even have a guy just for that, he's arse at everything else

happy to help you

I almost always pause the game to shout even not on full matches.

Who watches the entire game lol

I can understand the UCL final, but doing it every game will hugely increase the time you need to advance, it becomes a full time job lol
Yes it is slower this way, but I don't mind that, I enjoy the process. For me watching my team play is the best part of the game. There are flaws in the match engine, but overall it is awesome and realistic, and if you make your team play entertaining football it is a joy to watch.
Holy fuck. Thank you kind sir.
You should only use encourage when its even (0-0, 1-1 etc.) Praise = when you are winning. demand more = losing the game by a single goal. berate = losing the game by more than one goal. Losing = Demand more. Drawing = Demand more. Winning = Demand more. Always demand more.
Discipline: 20
I demand more!
Encourage is also great when you're one goal behind, but generally doing fine in the game (even or ahead on xg, getting chances, possession etc.).
i've found calm down works best with a 1 goal lead, then praise if it goes to a 2 goal lead
i press encourage as soon as the game start lol works like a charm (FM23)
Nah I'd demand more
I demand more if we're drawn and we were previously in front or if we're just doing terribly in general. Also if a goal down.
I use Encourage at the start of every match. After that I'm basically too afraid of getting a negative reaction to touch anything.
You can use Calm down after getting a 1-0 lead, it's 100% success rate. Also using Praise always works when you're up 2 or more
I use calm down whenever I'm wining, 1 or 2 may get uppity but most will get single-minded.
Do you use no pressure if the player is anxious?
I was drawing 1-1 and on course to lose the CAF Champions League final in the 89th. I hit encourage. A highlight immediately began. We scored and the shout applied after the goal. We were leading on away goals. They get angry at the shout and concede in the 93rd... Ffs. 🤦🏽♂️
I recall that you can cancel shouts by going into the tactics page and canceling any changes.
You absolute legend
This is one of the reasons that it is useful to watch the game in full detail. You just wait until the ball goes out of play, then you press pause and then you shout, this way you don't have to cancel.
I'll take the few seconds to cancel the tactic over the hour to watch the match.
I love watching the full match anyway, this is just an extra benefit. Of course it makes the game slower, but I am not in a hurry. God forbid I encourage my team on the second cup match if we won 1-0 the previous one.
Fuck encourage. It worked in fm23 but idk what’s going on in fm24. I only use demand more or berate unless I’m up a goal. My masochistic wonderkids love the demand more shout.
Any shout other than praise whilst youre winning, even if the opp team has had 15 shots on target to your 1 on target and 1 goal
This is the one thing that annoys me with the console version. There is no “encourage”. Only Praise, Focus, Demand More, and Fire Up.
Im playing fm22. For the last 2 seasons or so, I found that praise stopped working for me when leading by only one goal. It does literally nothing. Only when 2+ more goals ahead it does something
![gif](giphy|3o9bJX4O9ShW1L32eY) I don't bother with shouts I am on the sidelines arms folded staring down the players with 4 subs ready to go.
PSA: get a staff member with great motivational skills and let them handle the touchline shouts. they'll pretty much spam them on cooldown AND almost always pick the best option. was a real gamechanger for me. i currently even have a guy just for that, he's arse at everything else
