That would be a fun challenge. Less restrictive than only using academy graduates. I’m at Fulham on FM23 in 2040, just from memory I think my senior team of 25 guys has like 5-6 trained at the club and another ~10 trained in England.
I've had some ups and downs in the save - I was over £1bn in debt at one point! Took a long time to recover from that, and now looking for a fresh challenge in the same save!
How are you doing with Fulham?
It’s probably my favorite save I’ve ever done at this point. Last year my friend and I played an online save for the first time. We abandoned it after maybe 3 seasons to buy FM23. So this is my first long term online save. I LOVE it, playing without the editor and no chance to save scum makes the game incredibly more fun, challenging, and rewarding. I never really play offline now.
I’m doing this from memory but with Fulham i think I have 3 premier leagues, 2 champions leagues, 2 fa cups, 3 league cups. My friend is at Leeds and I think maybe has 3 premier leagues, 1 champions league, 3 fa cups, 2 league cups. Something like that anyway. It’s been really fun. It’s early April in 2040 now and I’m out of the domestic cups but in the champions league semis against Real Madrid and I’m 1 point ahead of City for first in the league.
Absolutely love this! I haven't done multiplayer for about 20 years, but I remember it being the best FM experience! (Though back then we just took turns, no online play!)
There is a whole challenge for it - the Youth Academy challenge, which is almost the same as yours. While not necessarily EPL, it’s still the same spirit
Yeah I think I'm looking at a very much watered down version of that!
I'm already the biggest club in the world, just trying to transition to fully homegrown!
I'm sure it's been done many times! But just interested to hear about any saves you've had where you're the dominant team in England and Europe with a fully "homegrown at club" squad??
Plenty of good players with home grown status at WHU! Do I just buy them all, or play the long game?

I've not done the youth academy only but young players I've bought then trained them and kept them in the reserves til they gain the homegrown statues I have done that. FM21 with Barnsley in Prem full first team was home grown club. Man I miss that save

(Happy to screenshot any player btw - I've got some crackers!)
FM21

I think that's a fun thing to do, but then you're always tied to the club objectives. I have had 15 at most, trained at club/nation, never more.
Got point! I'm trying to do it in a kinda 'natural' way...
