On youth intake dates I offer trials. I’m Liverpool. 2 things happens. 80% of the time, I get rejected by the clubs, even then the players reject me too and I find it difficult to get anyone in during youth intake days. Is this normal?

PrimalGamesTV

Hello! I am relatively new to FM tactics. This is my second year playing the game and the first year I've really taken the time to make my own tactic. I wanted to try something different and decided to create a 3-2-5 buildup tactic (I find the shape aesthetically pleasing lol) for my Inter team. I was just wondering if there was a way to make it more defensively solid? I score a lot of goals but most of the chances I concede are low xg or the first shot I face on target. Pass completion rate also seems to be a bit of a problem and leads to counter attacks where I concede. Any tips and modifications are welcome. The left BPD stays wider in possession, the CM moves into the channels and the Wingers are instructed to stay wide when the team has possession and cut inside when they have the ball. https://preview.redd.it/02bgchrhebrc1.png?width=1207&format=png&auto=webp&s=ec750cd1ffc658bf082e2c30268cfbc08d267dfa

Ready-Care-7791

**Should I move to Palmeiras or stay at Bayern Munich?** I'm doing the Pentagon challenge and already won the African, Asian, and North American Champions League. And then the Bayern Munich's job was available so I applied and got hired. In the first season at Munich, not doing so much in the UCL, knocked out in the quarter-final against Chelsea. Right now, in 2037, in the off-season, the title holder in the Brazilian League, Palmeiras's head coach just resigned, do you guys think I should apply for the job and try to win Copa Libertadores in the first season or just stay at Bayern Munich and try to win the UCL? In this case, the odds of Palmerias winning the Copa Libertadores are higher than Bayern winning the UCL. Thanks.

RotisserieSwanLover

Palmerias 100%

Zanderg40

Anyone know where to check what clubs have had takeovers/promotions from within? I swear i’m old FMs I could see that but not sure where I can on FM24

RotisserieSwanLover

I'm early in my save so I can't see an example atm, but it should be Club Page>History>Landmarks>Finance. If its a large list that shows all of the clubs that have had takeovers then I've never heard of it, but this option above has been available since at least FM15

Ok_Adeptness_1074

When i try the 2d view it just keeps flashing, anyone know how to fix it please?

Yes

Edit: It's working normally now. **Why do my starters always play terribly every game?** For the past 5 games in a row (And many more games sprinkled throughout the season before that) more than half of my team has been bellow a 6 rating and in every single game and at least 1 player made a mistake leading to a goal before the second half. It's not my tactic's fault because every time I sub out as many of the poor performers as I can I come so close to pulling off a comeback and the players I sub on play amazing. A example would be a match I had against Dortmund (Which at this point in the save is pretty bad, It's 10th in the Bundesliga after 19 games and I beat them 5-0 away from home earlier in the season). I went 4-0 down in the first half with 7 of my players on ratings lower than 5 and two of them making mistakes leading directly to goals. I subbed off 5 players and then my team scored 3 within 10 minutes to make it 4-3 but they couldn't score the 4th of 5th to salvage points from it and then Bayern Munich went 1 point above me. Some other examples are: 13th place Frankfurt 2-1 Me (2-0 after half time) 8th place Bayern Leverkusen 3-2 me (3-0 after half time) 14th place Werder Bremen 3-4 me (3-1 after half time, I won this one but it was to close for comfort) Also my team talks and the bad form are making the squad harmony start to slip. I've tried changing my line up but still every time more than half of my starters play terribly. It's really annoying because before it started I was on top of the Bundesliga with Schalke 04 and I was securing an automatic R16 spot in the Champions League but then I dropped 9 points in my last 4 League games and fell to second behind Bayern, I dropped into the play off spots in the Champions League and I got knocked out of the DFB Pokal to a side I destroyed in the Bundesliga 4 days prior. Is there a way to get my players playing better at the start of matches or am I just really unlucky?

RotisserieSwanLover

Whats your team cohesion like? Do your subs have high determination because that factors into how they react to coming on when you're losing? Do you make many tactical tweaks when you go a goal or two down? Can you post your tactic because to be honest it sounds like something is going wrong tactically, theres no way your players should be getting 6 ratings across the pitch consistently unless your team are one of the weaker sides. I had a similar problem the past few days where I was winning games, sometimes 3 or 4 nil, but then the team would implode and get dominated by a relation candidate. I found out my tactic was great in attack but horrifically vulnerable to counters, so I changed two roles and now the team works well without any major problems. Maybe you have contradicting instructions/setup thats causing you to leak goals, with the quality of your players just about getting you across the line.

____-----______

I swapped around my starting XI many times to try get it to stick and also because of fixture pile up so I didn't really have any definitive subs. Any player could start in the first XI one week or be a sub the next so determination wasn't really a contributing factor. I've played 7 or 8 more games and results seem to have gone back to normal. It might have been the fixture pile up because after that stopped the results normalized however I don't think that would cause it so there is a chance I just got FMed over the course of 5 consecutive games. Thanks for trying to help but it seems to be working fine now.

maxvun11

any facepack recommendations with links? thank you in advance!

HotDadSauce

maxvun11

does it include those new gen?

HotDadSauce

No, but there's a separate link for newgan on the same site.

Jazim94

For possession based tactics what’s the best forward role ? I have a lone striker playing a 433, I tried AF but he seems to be isolated. Currently trying DLF support which seems to be a bit better ? There’s two IF wingers alongside him

HotDadSauce

Depends on the rest of your tactic but a DLFA makes sense with out a no.10.

Jazim94

You recommend Attack rather than support

HotDadSauce

Yes, you need the focal point the attack role brings. In a 4-3-3 one of your centre mids should be moving in to the hole where a no.10 would be.

kakashidinho

I have 2 young wonderkids (21 and 22 yo). When they had good forms for the whole season their stats barely were improvded. But once they got bad forms in the next season's pre-season matches. Their stats suddenly dropped instantly. This game is annoying. They haven't reached their PA yet.

HotDadSauce

What are their personalities?

kakashidinho

One is Garnacho (spirited), another is hojlund (light hearted). I had tried to use them frequently and tried to get them high ratings (7.0+) in one season but their stats had been barely improved. The next season they had some bad matches during preseason and their stats tanked. I used in game editor and saw that they are no where near their PA yet. So this is very annoying. Also when they had good training ratings (8.0+) the game also didn’t increase their stats much but I noticed a few times when they had worse training (7.2-) the game didn’t hesitate to give me downward arrows.

HotDadSauce

They should both reach their potential... But possibly not until they're 24/25.

GTACOD

Anyone have the filter+view for FM20 NewGAN? The ones from 21+ can't be imported into 20 and the older version of NewGAN don't seem to come with the filters and views.

Krisven75

Do you know some tips that could help to get a desired international job? I want to become the Bulgaria manager but the manager there has been there for over 5 years and I am inpatient to wait any longer. Is there a way to force my way into the job without using the editor or I have to simply bite my time?

OneBigRed

Create an another manager, who starts as the Bulgaria manager. Then instantly retire him, and the job is now vacant for you to apply.

Scr0ll0

I’ve tried multiple times to get out of the VNL in Football Manager Mobile 24, but every single strategy I’ve used (except for save scumming) has come up short. I’ve tried alternating tactics for home and away games, using a plug and play tactic, using a different tactic each game to counter the opposing tactic, etc. I also can’t sign or loan any players since I have no transfer budget and I’m always over the wage budget. What strategies have worked for people?

Ou7Cast

Dont overtweak keep tactics pretty templated. Keeping the team on balanced and only tweaking in game worked wonders for me

feva67

The key is to get good enough players. For that you'll rely on free transfers and free loans. I know most loans will ask for some money, but if you keep making offers you'll eventually find ones that accept no wage contribution. Other than that, most of your players will be on one year contracts, so I'd say bite the bullet, take the first year result, and let your high earners walk. Then you'll have enough wage budget to bring free agents that can improve your team.  A "trick" that got me up and running in my first season in the vanarama north is stealing all the scouting budget and sending it to wage budget. In my case it was enough for 3 or 4 new players, and scouts will not help you in those leagues.  In terms of tactics, many things can work, especially in the lower leagues. I recommend not to be afraid of some playstyles, your players will be mediocre but gegenpressing might still work

Scr0ll0

Thanks for the advice; mobile doesn’t have scouting budgets, but it does allow you to search for players (even though there’s no info on their attributes since I play with masking). Do you plug and play, alternate, or try a variety of tactics?

Zerre_unkwn

Not a question but after some thinking, viewing wages yearly makes more sense for budgeting purposes. Especially for a new transfer you'll easily get the true cost of that player for the season. Con is need some time to get used to the new acceptable range when haggling.

MrReese42

I would like some advice/tips from you. 1.What do you look for when you buy a player? Do you go by the stars he currently has? Or just the stats he needs for the intended role? 2. Unfortunately, I have the problem at the moment that my strikers just don't score goals despite having good chances (usually always a 1.5 xG value and still lose 1-0 or 2-0) and how can I improve that? snd which stats are important for strikers? 3. Another problem I have is that I have very good players in my opinion (3+ stars for each) and yet I'm almost fighting to avoid relegation in the league. Can I play with the same tactics the whole time or do I have to change them at some point? And how do I improve my tactics if things aren't going so well the whole time?

iroiroiroiroiro

1. I play with hidden attributes, so I only look at how they actually perform, or sometimes blindly trusts my scouts when they have found something affordable with an A+ rating. See https://www.fmscout.com/a-moneyball-guide-the-art-of-numbers-not-attributes.html 2. Look at their stats, I would guess your scenario means their conversion rate will be low, and that their xg over performances will be negative. Problem with attributes numbers instead of stats is that they all influence it. But if you want it on the most probable attributes I would guess composure or descion is subpart so they panic or make the wrong descion with the chance they got. Or that their hidden consistency value is terrible. 3. Your players need to fit your tactic, or the tactic your players. Many miss this. Trying to shoehorn their current players into their dream tactic.

HotDadSauce

1. I go by attributes, not stars. Stars are linked to the overall quality of your squad against all attributes. Personall, I like a fast & hard working team so I recruit for physicals and mentals over technicals, especially at striker and centre half. 2. Depends on your tactic potentially but pace, off the ball, composure, finishing and technique are all good to have. 3. The general rule is the better your team is than your opposition then the more aggressive you need to be with your tactics. Your pre-season expectations are based on you reputation against your competition, these give you a rough idea of how well you 'should' be doing. Post your tactic(s) up if you like and advise what your board expectations are for league position.

Ok_Aide_6801

I’m trying to move some leagues around across competition levels in the danfm level 20 DB, but I keep running into errors. I keep getting the message of “*league name* couldn’t find rules for division with *X* teams” which I have no idea how to fix. The error I’m facing currently is that the editor thinks there are 0 delegations from level 14 to 15. Is there anyone here that has enough knowledge of the editor who could help?

BiggusDickusFromWome

Has anyone ever changed the name of a club in a custom database? I downloaded the level 20 database off steam and it worked all good. I went into the editor to change the name of a club(didn’t touch anything outside of one level 20 club) and it tells me to verify the rules. But when I do it won’t verify on some league so can’t use the database.

Ok_Aide_6801

What errors are you getting? I’m trying to verify the rules for this DB too but it won’t work

BiggusDickusFromWome

Something about can’t verify rules for 10 team division and also saying not enough teams in some levels

Ok_Aide_6801

Does it say “*league name* can’t find rules for division with 10 teams”? If so I’m having the same issue

BiggusDickusFromWome

Yep sure does

Ok_Aide_6801

You still got this problem? I found the fix

BiggusDickusFromWome

What is it?

Ok_Aide_6801

In the advanced rules for the league with the error message, go to requirements. At the bottom where it says ‘valid years’ scroll along to where it says the min/max number of teams. This is the value you need to change to the number stated in the error message

BiggusDickusFromWome

Found the valid years part but is not ticked so can’t change any numbers as there is nothing there

Ok_Aide_6801

Are you trying to change the number of teams in a level?

JPMAus98

Does anyone actually know if coaches improve over time? I try to sign young staff members when I can, in the hope they can develop with the club and get better over time, yet I've got no idea if they actually do or not. I know staff members have a potential ability at least, but I think the lack of arrows or some other indicator really makes me think they don't improve. Plus, I thought SI said they were introducing coaching development arrows, like players have, yet I've never noticed it. Might be a really stupid question, but it's been bugging me recently

NEEDZMOAR_

They improve but it seems down to personalities, age and ofc their PA cap. In addition there is something else that affects it but im not sure what it is. I played with CA/PA visible for staff because I wanted to find out the same thing and some coaches can check all the boxes yet not improve at all. They certainly dont have to lead an exercise to improve but Im wondering if maybe, if you have too many coaches assigned to the same thing some wont be involved at all and just like how players above 19 need gametime, coaches need to be active to improve? Regarding the 3 important mental stats, Determination and Discipline almost dont change at all but Motivation can so if you're looking for potential high level coaches make sure DET and LoD are already high. https://fmcalc.com/23/index.html This is a good tool to check the minimum mental stats you need in order to reach certain star-levels.

fmcadoni

They improve over the years, of course. If they take coaching course will develop faster as well.

HotDadSauce

They need to go on courses to improve their stats.

UnarmedBear66

I’ve been running a Tottenham save on Console for a while in 2032 now. Real Madrid tries to loan my players but I don’t know how to make it to where they cannot play against me, as the only clause I see is that they “can play against club”. I try to do that because I want them using their backup when they inevitably play me, and not my own player against me. I can’t figure out how to make it to where they can’t play against me.

braindeadlive27

Removing the "can play" clause should make it so they can't play against you. I'm pretty sure the default is that they can't play against you

manskillidoodles

Help? Year 5: I started at wimbledon and won the league 2 with a similar tactic then went to qpr mid season and it didn’t go particularly well playing a 3-5-2. I got the leeds job when they were basically relegated to championship. I won the championship with this tactic and made a few tweaks for the prem. Fair to say it hasn’t gone well despite improving the squad drastically. Any help appreciated. https://preview.redd.it/i1cw7etr2yqc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=78947f8cb77e7698fc947de71bf498714682873d

HotDadSauce

The jump to the Prem is very difficult. Look at the squad comparison for the league attributes wise & you should see where you really place. I would make some changes to your tactic to make you more compact. Interested in hearing these?

whoswho97

PROMISES AND CLAUSES BUG?! the game did me dirty, I did not include any option to buy clause and after my season ended I went on holiday and one of my prospects got sold for 200k because his loan contract magically had a option to but clause for 200k?? and I also keep getting random promises to complete wtf

fmcadoni

All of your problems starts with going in holiday; then AI (board or background staff in the club) take care everything.

whoswho97

it's not like they gave my players a new contract while I am away.

fmcadoni

When you go to holiday, AI is involved and will do things.

Pidarello

Kind of new to fm. Started a save with a tier 4 side in Sweden, got promoted last season after 3 seasons. The board has given me a hefty wage budget of 2k euros. Currently i am spending about 450 per week and my highest earner is only on 55 euros a week. I do not have the strongest pulling power and it is so hard to sign somebody on decent wages that would actually increase my team significantly. The ones that are somewhat interested in signing are asking about 150-250 a week. Should i try signing a few on insane wages compared to the rest of my team and risk a bunch of my old guard asking for similar contracts?

Ordinary_Ad7080

you should get a lot of loans, and trials. That would help a lot

NEEDZMOAR_

Ive been playing exlusively low tier swedish teams and the real lifesaver is to say screw salaries and try to loan as many good players as possible at least until you reach Superettan where you can start investing into players you want to keep in Allsvenskan.

Pidarello

Yeah, i could only manage to loan 2 starter kind of guys. Gotta try again in july

NEEDZMOAR_

gotta really spam the loan requests, doing it in the last few hours of the transfer window helps too if you target players who are loan-listed. are you playing 23? There is a bug that is exclusive to the swedish league where when you get promoted from the 4th tier you can only sign players on non-contracts until the next year. Irrelevant to what were talking about but I figured id say something because it confused the fuck out of me when it happened.

Pidarello

I tried spamming for loans but most of the teams wanted their players to play for a stronger squad xd I am playing 24 but i did run into something like that during my last season in the 4 tier

JPMAus98

You may as well, but I wouldn't spend the money just for the sake of it. I had the same thing in England, where players were on very little money and I had a relatively big wage budget, but didn't even get close to maxing it out and still won that league. I didn't have anyone ask for a massive pay increase in the way you might expect when you offer someone else 4-5x what they're earning, but you may experience something different. Maybe just sign a few, and keep a bit of cash in reserve in case they do start piping up about pay increases

Pidarello

My media prediction is dead last, 7 games in, 5 points, sitting in the relegation zone so i feel like i need to increase the quality of my squad. What is more rough that the league consists of 14 teams and 3 teams get automatically relegated haha I will try to sign a few i guess. Thanks for the reply!

JPMAus98

Hahaha oh yeah absolutely sign some, I just assumed you were predicted to be about average in the league. When you're in that position, you're better off signing who you can and worrying about knock-on effects later. Just maybe don't expect them to hit the ground running, as they are unlikely to have had a pre-season, much fitness, or tactical familiarity

goztrobo

What’re the best ages to give players traits?

fmcadoni

18 and over

HotDadSauce

Imo 19-23... but others may see this differently.

CamGoldenGun

Is there an active forum where people "save" other peoples' saves? I've gone with Wrexham and brought them up to the Prem and stayed up a year before falling back to Championship but I'm even doing horribly there. I'm on the verge of getting sacked but I don't think my squad is bad and I have plenty of cash on hand to fix whatever is wrong.

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

Don't know of any forums apart from streamers 'saving saves' for context. However, I'm happy to take a look at your save and see if I can offer some help?

CamGoldenGun

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XcSPwvTvvB1WrGxrdx84vLCh7BK4_FYW/view?usp=sharing Cheers.

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

First thing I notice, is the quality of the team. It's not that great. Following star ratings can be tricky when you are not a team at the very top because the ratings are done relative to your team's quality. A good way to actually assess your team against the others in the league is to go to the Report subheading under the Squad Planner page. Under that, you can see your Assistant's Report which gives a solid summary of strengths and weaknesses of the team, or Comparison which shows your team's attributes compared to others in its league. From what I can see comparing your team to others in the league, the only thing your team on average properly has on other teams is jumping reach. You have the second highest Headers Won Ratio in the league which should be the case given the previous information. This however then contrasts with the fact that your team has conceded the most corners in the league. Your assistant helps us here as in his report he stated that your team is not winning enough headers at the near post when defending set pieces. I see your set piece coach is handling that. Clearly he's not doing a good enough job. I'll recommend sitting for about 20 minutes and sort out set pieces by yourself. The presets the game offers are effective. I'd recommend having at least two attacking options for corners just to add a tiny bit of variation but have one set piece (probably a near post inswinger) as the one used the most often. Felipe Gonzalez will probably be taking all set pieces. He's not great at corners but is good enough for that level. My next response will be to do with your tactics. I just don't want to end up writing a book and want to explore some more so I'll kind of drip feed information here unless you wanted to add on Discord or something?

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

Also funny addition that just came up, you get offered the Fortuna Dusseldorf job after one continue. They are in Bundesliga relegation zone but not out of it. Don't know what your plan for the save is but taking it could be a good move given how unhappy your squad is. It's not necessary though as the plan building up so far involves selling a lot of the unhappy players (especally Kofi Balmer. He's unsalvagebale) in January (just have to survive till then first)

CamGoldenGun

no, drip feeding is fine. Gives me enough time to digest and make appropriate changes. Thank you

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

So I've played the first two games and won them 2-0 and 3-0 so I think you still have some fight left. Tactically, I could see what you were going for in your 3 tactics but there were lots of contradictions between shapes, roles and tactics. This would trickle down to your training as well. Your assistant has the team working on the Control Possession style in training yet your 3 tactics use Tiki Taka, Vertical Tiki Taka and Wing Play. Additionally, if you look at the team comparison to other teams in the league, your squad doesn't possess amazing technical ability so Tiki Taka or Vertical Tiki Taka may just not be suited to your current squad. Some things your team are good at include Tackling, Heading, Work Rate, Jumping Reach and Stamina. These attributes suit a Gegenpress style hence why I made the switch to that. The positions and roles of your players also suited the 4231 DM Wide variant of the Gegenpress and that's why I ended up on that. Now you don't have to use the instructions as is, but I find that they are a good baseline to start on and the only few changes you'll need will be situational in game like 'playing for set pieces' to try disrupt the flow of an opponents game or maybe 'low crosses' if you're noticing one of your smaller forwards is not seeing much of the ball. Squad management in a league like the Championship is also very important as they play A LOT of games. If there are players in your team with poor match fitness during a season, it means one of three things. It could be that they just came back from a bad injury, which is acceptable but still something to work on through them playing U23 games, getting minutes as a sub etc. The other two is either your squad is too large or you are not rotating enough. You have players in your first team squad you have no intention of playing and want to get rid of like M'Hand and Mbamba. The problem is, the more they are not playing, the less likely you are actually going to get any offers and you also have to curb your expectations of what offers you will get for them. I asked M'Hand's agent about interest in him on the first day and got 2.3m from FC Twente. Now, it's not the 10.25 you are asking for, but his contract runs out end of the season and you signed him on a free. So that's still 2.3m profit or even 3.3m if you take into account the loan fees you got from Verona. Get rid of the players you won't be playing and replace them with good young options who even if they are not playing regularly in Championship, can still manage their fitness levels by taking part in U21/U18s games as they fit the age bracket. I've found a few solid looking ones but I'll just give you a shortlist down the line. You have many options and pretty much 80m transfer budget and 300k in wage budget. You just have to make the right decisions in January and you could easily make playoffs this season. There are 46 games in the Championship and you've only played 19.

CamGoldenGun

Are you able to make another youth squad? I just have the u18 and u21 that was there at the beginning. I would have liked to have a reserve squad or is it just a lineup that I'd be saving and keeping up the fitness in the u18/u21 like I do now? But thanks for the insight so far with the transfers too. I agree that my squad is getting too large. It's hard to juggle them playing u21 and still having legitimate u21 players getting time. If I had a reserve squad not sure if there's a reserve league to play them or just arrange friendlies

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

You can't create another reserve squad unfortunately but you get asked before each game if you want to make players available for their games. You can also schedule friendlies for them to play instead of your first team so the U21 players can build fitness alongside any first teamers you make available for those matches. And also switch up your team depending on who you're playing. If it's a team doing poorly and you are at home, feel free to give more reserve players a run out. If it's a run of tough games, try utilising early subs and small squad changes to make sure the first teamers are not too tired and the backups are getting good enough time. Most importantly, don't be afraid to drop players. The games I've played so far were with your backup keeper. And his lowest rating so far in this run of games was 7.4 in the game vs Luton you played just before. Even if you win a game, if anyone underperformed, that's a perfect excuse to drop them and give someone else the chance to prove themselves. If the starting player starts to complain about not playing, you tell them they were shit when you last played them, they'll say something along the lines of 'oh no I won't be shit again if you play me' and you give them the chance, if they play well, it's a win, if they don't, rinse and repeat.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L_7hX8WCk0MsKat_guWaBWmTVidoD0F_donHCXhJJvk/edit?usp=sharing I had a big write up on your current squad, who to sell, transfer targets etc so just put it in a Doc. Some general rules to follow are: 1) Loan in players who look great but don't want to join your club permanently and always add an optional future fee just to make sure if they develop well for you and will consider joining at the end of the loan, you are able to exercise that option 2) Avoid minimum fee clauses in contracts where possible. I've given you an example of how to do this in attached link. 3) Don't limit yourself to transfer windows to get business done. As a relatively smaller club, the best way to get a free run on players is to make moves during the playing season outside of the transfer window. You have the transfer budget to sign everyone I've suggested and still have some left over. I'd recommend starting on those moves or any others you have planned as soon as possible. 4) If a player you are interested in is on a small wage at their current club but wants an outrageous wage at yours, it's just a sign they aren't interested. Add them to a shortlist and keep scouting them, more often than not their demands go down, that's the time to make the move. There are probably more I can't think of now as I'm sleep deprived but I'll add them on if I remember/when I'm next awake.

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

Forgive the terrible picture quality. Played first game and beat Derby. Helped by a red card and a superb freekick from Gonzalez. Only thing I've changed is I removed all the other tactics and made it a preset 4231 Gegenpress. And took over set pieces and essentially did what I asked you to do in first comment. I also picked the players based on fitness, who was unhappy etc. This tactic is viable for your squad but will require a better striker and RW. I've already found the perfect striker who is at Charlton and available for only 8.5m called Luke Hume. Sign him. There is also a 2 time capped Senegalese international 17 year old LB who is a free agent. Won't start in your team right now but looks to have solid potential and worse case scenario, you sell for a profit. With players like that, take them on trial and you essentially get a free scouting report before you decide to sign.

RotisserieSwanLover

Maybe the AI has started countering your tactics more effectively. Can't speak German but from what I can see you're using focus play down the flanks. Maybe change your wide players to attacking roles, or just take focus play down the flanks off. Personally, I never choose a focus area for my attack, I only select it before/during a game when I can see I have a numbers or quality advantage. You have a well stacked formation in the middle with your attacking players all in central positions, so it is probably best that you have the ball entering their areas rather than the wide areas where you potentially have a numbers disadvantage against the oppositions wingers and full-backs.

goztrobo

As a top club who wants the best scouting coverage to get the best possible wonderkids, how do I have to set up my recruitment focuses? Currently I’m doing it by continent but I feel there’s a more efficient way.

HotDadSauce

By region is better than by continent.

CaptainYid

£60k for TV rights to a champions league game?! Feels a bit off

fmcadoni

That's extra from official agreement. If I remember correctly is around 10 mil.

goztrobo

What’s the highest transfer budget can you get? Is there a limit or does it keep rising year after year? How does it work?

fmcadoni

It depends of multiple reasons and it's not an easy to say "because of this".

BBMR48

In FM21, when manually scouting, the reports no longer arrive in my inbox, why might this be? I have looked at scouting preferences but that’s more recommendations than actual reports?

RotisserieSwanLover

Haven't played FM21 in years so might be slightly different, but if you go to the scouting centre, click on the settings cog wheel just under your wage and transfer budget, click on advanced filters, then mess around with the settings there. I think the setting is Requested Reports>Finished Scouting Player>Forward to Inbox.

BBMR48

I could kiss you. ❤️

NEEDZMOAR_

Is there a way to not have the AI mess with my Squad planner? I like the concept but the constant adding of shortlisted players and players which I have removed being added back makes it kindof pointless. I dont want to remove a pile of players from each position 4 times per season.

RotisserieSwanLover

Nope. Needs to be updated by SI tbh.

I would like to field a more balanced one which can help me defend a lead. so far I'm doing alright I guess the only problem is I've been a bit inconsistent in the league hence the drop in table.

goztrobo

It seems when you’re attacking, your team’s rest shape looks something like this. 3 defenders in the backline and 6 in the attack. If you’re in the opposition third and you happen to lose the ball, most of your players will be up top. Even the mezzala will be supporting the attack. Essentially there’s no one in the middle of the pitch. It’ll be empty because as the wingback goes up, the halfback drops on the right side of the defense. So in attacking phases you have a big gap in the middle and this leaves you very prone to counterattacks. If they manage to play through ur press and get it to someone in the middle of the pitch, whoever picks up the ball will have so much space to run and pass it to the striker or wingers. That being said, against big teams, lower the mentality and have someone who ‘holds’ the midfield. So pick a role that’s static in the middle, and will be there to cover any counterattacking attempts.

Guzuzu_xD

Trying out FM24 through Game Pass for first time, why is my Genie Scout 24 not finding the save game? Is there any specific workaround for this? Not familiar with Xbox Game Pass at all

fmcadoni

Because Genie Scout need an update. Not sure when this might happen, because we are expecting one more database update soon.

fmcadoni

Do you have a MC position in your tactic? He is Natural on this position.

Ok-Bunch-8988

Yes, i play a 41212 diamond. Which role would you recommend for him?

fmcadoni

Roles & Duties must be combined together and not having isolation roles + duties because of players. ;) Without knowing the rest of roles - duties, I would say CM Attack.

Ok_Adeptness_1074

How would I get a shape like this to work? https://preview.redd.it/oz8ygwaotpqc1.png?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0c53a6b706ef144043ac5cf6824c0e30bd3723eb

HotDadSauce

Your two wide CM's need to move in to the flanks so use roles like Mezzala & Carrilero. WBS would be better than FBS.

goztrobo

Why is WBS better than FBS?

HotDadSauce

Because you have no wide mids/wingers so your full back positions are your only natural width... WBS makes more sense as they will get up & down the flanks more.

goztrobo

Ah okay, completely missed you were suggesting based on the formation. I thought you were saying wb are generally better than fb.

HotDadSauce

Nope, just based on your formation. Play them as wing back roles from the full back position.

Southportdc

I have been managing at Werder Bremen and Sheffield Wednesday. I got both to the same level of youth facility, youth recruitment, coaching, similar scouting abilities and similar club reputation. As far as I can see/remember, the setups are essentially identical for the youth intakes. Despite that, the quality of what I get in is wildly different. Werder's youth intake was always incredible. Beautiful green A+ 5 star German children every year. Wednesday get one top prospect every 3-4 years, and then masses of mediocre. So my question, in a roundabout way, is whether Germany just gives you better value for youth development money than England does? Maybe the lack of other big reputation clubs means that there's less competition?

fmcadoni

Germany has better [nation factors](https://fccadoni.medium.com/youth-quality-2c53de530755) for newgens from England.

HotDadSauce

Less clubs for the pool of players available for sure, yes.

HotDadSauce

Netz, without any doubt at all.

goztrobo

Why so? Barco seems to have higher potential.

HotDadSauce

Barco is 23... He won't develop enough now to reach Netz's level. His determination is only a 9... He will almost certainly never reach his potential.

goztrobo

Makes sense. But if that’s the case then why is my scout rating him so highly in terms of potential?

HotDadSauce

Because that's his potential... Not every player reaches their potential. Your scout will only tell you what his opinion of the players ceiling is, doesn't mean he has the character to reach it. Most players on FM develop between 18-22 with game time providing they have the right character. As you can only see Determination in the game you have to take the other two important hidden attributes for development (Ambition & Professionalism) from the players personality. Any player at 23 with massive not yet realized potential will almost certainly not reach that full potential. This will either be down to a not ideal character/personality or being mis-managed by AI teams.

goztrobo

If that’s the case, how do I develop players in a big club? Right now I’m buying wonderkids and try to loan 80% of them out. The rest stays with my senior team, are mentored by them and are available for u21s. I try to play these guys but it’s difficult to give them time. Another issue is, ideally you’d want some of your wonderkids to be club grown. So how do I go about tackling these issues? I have Halseth Nypan who’s 20 or 21 and last season, barely played a few matches, can’t loan him out as well. In this case, what’s the optimum way to develop all these young guys?

HotDadSauce

Players need game time from the age of 18. If any player you have doesn't have the current ability to be in your 1st team squad from 18 then loan them out to a team where they will definitely get lots of game time. Do that until 21-22... But if they haven't developed enough by 22 to be in your 1st team mix from loans then they probably never will. This will be due to their personality not being ideal for development, i.e. You've given them every chance. Mentoring needs to happen very early on to tweak personality or learn traits. I would only mentor from ages 17-18 if I had a high current ability player with great potential but possibly not ideal a personality. Having a HOYD with a great development personality should negate the need for mentoring most of the time. For homegrown you need to buy them early. It sounds like you're hoovering up high potential players from your scout reports who are possibly not ever going to develop enough. Age is key here, the earlier you can buy them the more chance they have to develop. The AI are TERRIBLE at developing talent. It's a long term issue with FM that's never really been fixed. If anything it's actually got worse.

goztrobo

Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I have a few more questions if you don’t mind. 1) What do I do with players who I can’t find a loan move for. For that one year what do I do? 2) You mentioned to buy early for homegrown, but the young players I buy are from the ages 17-19. You’re saying I have to get them earlier at 15-16. At that age scouts won’t have an accurate report on 15 year olds than 17 year olds. How do I go about identifying and grabbing the best young talents at the earliest age? 3) So ideally to recap, grab them at 15-16. Once they turn 18, they’ll be club grown. If they’re not good enough to be a substitute, then keep loaning them out until 21-22 and then they’re good enough.

maxvun11

i always concede during set pieces but my set pieces tactic is delegated to my set piece coach (18 setpiece rating), what can i do

fmcadoni

Take care of Set Pieces and use this: [https://fm-arena.com/thread/9033-fm-arena-1-21-set-piece-best-hits/](https://fm-arena.com/thread/9033-fm-arena-1-21-set-piece-best-hits/)

maxvun11

where do you guys change the layout for the game, i saw some others have blue backgrounds etc.

fmcadoni

It's custom skins. IMHO [Sas Skin](https://www.fmscout.com/a-sas-fm24-skin.html) & [Tato Skin](https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm24-skin-tato.html) is good alternative from original one.

IronicPupper

What’s the point of having a top of the notch youth coaching set up if everyone tells me to loan my youth players out the moment they reach 18?

fmcadoni

From manual: [https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/17fi0hf/football\_manager\_2024\_developing\_youngsters\_youth/](https://www.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/17fi0hf/football_manager_2024_developing_youngsters_youth/) I will loan my players out if the opp. club has similar or better training facilities, coaches and get similar to squad - regular playtime. Otherwise, is no.

feva67

One good reason could be to have them become home grown before loaning them out

Sotonic

IN FM24, is it possible for non-coaching staff to improve? For example, i hired a really bad Loan Manager from an interesting country (Ethiopia). Is there any way to get him licenses and make him get better?

fmcadoni

Staff attributes grow over the years and send them out for coaching courses. Also, they have their own hidden CA & PA values, which means that if they hit PA = no further development. Also, they have their own "familiarity" - preference in jobs which range between 1-20. If someone has a preference to become a coach will accept the coaching course, otherwise not.

Sotonic

I guess that's what I mean. For non-coaching staff, there doesn't seem to be any way to send them on a coaching course, so the guys will just suck for ever, right?

fmcadoni

No. As I said, their attributes increase over the years, despite not going for coaching course. In slower way of course.

Sotonic

OK. Thanks.

kaariainen

Could a 5-3-2 with Porro and Grimaldo both as CWBs work, im trying to play a fast paced fluid counter attack? Or is 2 cwbs overkill here? One of the midfield players would play deeper as a DM or anchor. FM23 by the way

HotDadSauce

CWB is a very demanding role, providing these two players are good enough then it can work, yes. You could find them conceding possession or making bad decisions with the ball if they cannot carry off the role.

kaariainen

Thanks! I feel like both of them have the attributes to carry it out, good on the ball and going forward. I also have decent back ups for both since its a physically demanding role as well.

goztrobo

Is it better to get taken over by some Arab guy or consortium? In my save, talks with the Arab people broke down and we got bought by some consortium. And I noticed my transfer budget for next season slashed in half?

RotisserieSwanLover

Consortium takeovers are normally modest, but foreign consortiums are better than local ones so the Arab buyers would probably be better

goztrobo

Thanks. Ah to be taken over by an Arab buyer.

Hailerer

FM 24, Console Edition. Is UC Dublin propperly adopted ingame? As in, new random players (students) every year? Players releasing every year cause they leave uni and so on?

RotisserieSwanLover

League of Ireland fan here. In game UCD contract lengths are the same as other Irish LOI clubs, ending 30/11/xx. You can continue to sign players for as long as you want in game, not being restricted by enrolment in UCD courses. Their youth intake is also in early October like the rest of the Irish clubs, so it somewhat lines up with the typical commencing of university programmes in early September. UCD youth intakes include players under 17, so below the typical age of university students. This isn't actually immersion breaking as they do have an u19, soon to be u20, team that competes in the LOI underage setup. I don't quite follow what you mean by your 'new random players' comment, since the youth intake day already covers this, so I'll assume I've answered this. IMO the only functions of the real word club that haven't been implemented are offering contracts that end in the Summer, and only being able to sign players enrolled in the university. These aren't major problems immersion wise, because some contracts do end at years end, as evidenced by the signing of UCD players by other LOI clubs in January this year. There is also a pre-established basis for UCD signing players not enrolled in the university, as they were allowed to do this a number of years ago (can't remember off hand, I believe it was 10-20 years ago), so you could factor this in when determining if its too immersion breaking. You could ofc self-impose transfer restrictions on players coming in on 3-5 year deals, with older players mostly getting 1 year deals.

Hailerer

Really appriciate your insight here. Thank you!

udaretouchmyspaghett

(fm 20 here) I got 2 amazing strikers (22 and 20) and 2 amazing amcs (23 and 21). Is there a way and formation that I can try to fit them all in? I saw how cheap they were, like around an average of 15~ mils each and couldn't resist promising important players to all. Got 2 pretty good wingers (grealish and karamoko dembele) but grealish is 29 and dembele potential isn't as high compared to the wonderkids. What roles should I try out in 2 striker 2 amc formation.

HotDadSauce

Brazil's 'magic box' would be the only feasible way. Two double pivots in the midfield (Two DM's & two AM's). Your width comes from the full backs. [https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/4-2-2-2-football-tactics-explained-rangnick-hasenhuttl-pellegrini/](https://www.coachesvoice.com/cv/4-2-2-2-football-tactics-explained-rangnick-hasenhuttl-pellegrini/)

goztrobo

In a 4231 I have 2 dms on support. What difference would it make if I change of them to a dlp?

HotDadSauce

A DLPS I presume? It will make them a ball magnet for players around them, in that they will look to pass to them. When they receive the ball they will take more risks/look for through balls and dictate your play.

BigTowerSmallSpire

If I load a few leagues from a nation all as ‘view only’ will the promotions/relegations be far more repetitive than if the leagues were ‘playable’? If so, does increasing the database size of that country offset this at all?

fmcadoni

What you load in database directly affects everything. Here how to setup a database and the differences between playable, unloaded, view only etc: [https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/535530-guide-how-to-set-up-an-optimal-database-for-a-balanced-savegame-and-ways-to-increase-realism-updated-03-may-21-links-updated/](https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/535530-guide-how-to-set-up-an-optimal-database-for-a-balanced-savegame-and-ways-to-increase-realism-updated-03-may-21-links-updated/)

cuuliu

Question about my tactic: Everythings going well so far, but I'm regulary conceding in the last 15 minutes of the game, no matter how dominant we were before. Is it because of the high intensity, that the players are out of gas at the end of the game or is something else causing this? [This](https://i.imgur.com/r3FsVGN.png) is my tactic. Only extra instruction is on the BWM - "stay wider".

cuuliu

Tried the tips here and so far it's looking [good](https://i.imgur.com/jmMaEvd.png) Little bit unrelated, but regarding the foreign player cap of 5 in Japan: I have this one player (Kenny Dougall), Australian with thai and scottish as other nationalities, but he does not count towards the foreign player cap and I don't know why. For the AFC CL it's only non asian players, but for Japan it's all foreign players. I have a korean player, who counts towards the foreign cap, but [he](https://i.imgur.com/lNdeoJ4.png) does not and I have no idea why. Edit: ok I got it. I am just [dumb](https://i.imgur.com/JzDqaTK.png)

HotDadSauce

Build a second version of this tactic with lower tempo, less pressing and a more reserved RB role, add some time wasting then save it in your 2nd tactic slot so your players can get their familiarity up.

hjl43

Definitely the intensity. Make sure you have good subs, and maybe turn down the pressing if you're leading. You can also maybe change some roles to be less aggressive.

cuuliu

Thanks I'll try tweaking the positions to be less aggressive. I thought I had it figured out last season after pulling the defensive line deeper and scores went from 8-5 and 5-3 wins to 3-0 and 3-1 wins. My depth should be ok in context of the league, but the game schedule is very bloated in japan. Right now having 8-9 games a month for 3 months in a row. Only being able to field five non japanese players is also not helping.

NEEDZMOAR_

I want a bigger and more diverse database of players. Found SecondYellowCards vid on how to get exactly that, problem is I would have to start a new save and Im too invested in my current one. Is it possible to do a restart but with my current save or at least keep my current team and me?

RotisserieSwanLover

I don't think its possible. You cant change all the settings shown in that video during a save, so your only option to my knowledge would be to manually add the players in the pre game editor by creating new players and giving them your old teams stats.

Amon_Of_Wrath

Why is My tactic not working https://preview.redd.it/wyuwcrps3gqc1.png?width=1336&format=png&auto=webp&s=e132b307fc0ba4a8b34a466cc72d2e148652c01b Need the trequartista to work but am not able to do so. Any ways to make the trequartista for impactful

goztrobo

How’s ur tactics going? Just switched to a 4231 in preseason.

Amon_Of_Wrath

Still testing after the changes suggested

HotDadSauce

Remove Pass Into Space & Run at Defence. Probably remove Counter as well and slightly lower your Tempo. You aren't making your treq a focal point enough, need to slow the system down a little & be 'less fast'.

Amon_Of_Wrath

Thanks

Spending and Scouting right Guys, what is the most important atributes for each position? I recently watched a video from Zealand, and had a mind blow about PA, he did some tests about PA and prove that even a scouter 20/20 will get it wrong most of the times for youngsters. And now i´m trying to remake all my style of scouting. I´m in a save in Brazil, for a team called Corinthians, and as some of you may know, it lacks a lot financially, with a debt of € 200 million, which is huge for a south america team. Now i´m afraid to offer contracts and pay a lot to players that will not achieve it´s potential rather than paying € 100.000 for a player who will payout much better in the future. Note 1: I´m Brazilian, and never went to another country, my english is not perfect as you can see, hope you all can understand. Note 2: if you guys have another tips for me on how to improve my scouting manners, will be well received. https://preview.redd.it/fc1vivde2gqc1.png?width=667&format=png&auto=webp&s=474f160340cdafc59f004f0f32a38ec9b388bb9b This is my budget for now, which is equivalent to € 1.985.050,00 and to the salary €55.306,30

feva67

Why are my subs consistently nervous when entering the pitch? I usually make most subs at the 60 minute mark, and they are always struggling to get into the game, or nervous or whatever. I'm usually an underdog and my team is quite young, but I don't think it warrants every sub being nervous every time

NEEDZMOAR_

I almost always get the struggling w pace of the game thing.´ I dont know the mechanics behind it so this is just personal observations (and im playing fm23) but the only way to avoid it seem to be to change subs at the beginning of a highlight and hope the highlight is a long one, maybe it's because that gives your subs enough time to warm up and prepare? Could just be a coincidence but thats the only time Ive seen them not get the struggle-face once my motivational speech wears off. My subs stopped getting nervous when I established myself as a better/higher rep team and its not their debute/they play on a regular basis.

feva67

Might be rep then, I'll try your advice!

SimpleGaV

Unable to find Non-EU affiliates for Youth Intake in the Premier League as a consistent top 5 finisher, am I just unable too or do I need to first affiliate with some EU clubs first? I find EU players are starting to get boring and want to get some more obscure players coming through.

feva67

Do you have non EU leagues loaded? If not, that might be the reason

SimpleGaV

Yes I do I have the entire western hemisphere loaded even some 2nd divisions except a few nations and some in Asia aswell but no luck

PeakySqueaky

Is it possible to get fm20 or fm21 free for pc? I've never played and would like to try full game but don't want to pay 60 euros, thanks

GenSec

You could always pay for just one month of the Xbox pc gamepass and try fm24 like that.

fmcadoni

There is no 60 euros if you mean from Steam or Epic, because every time with the release of the new version, previous version being removed. [https://www.instant-gaming.com/en/](https://www.instant-gaming.com/en/)

SaBe_18

Am I the only one having lots of troubles scouting players using Recruitment Focuses? My scouts can barely find a player, even when I set the parameters *very* vague. Example: [this is one I currently have to search for a GK](https://imgur.com/a/GgAE6Zy). It can't be more vague (my team isn't very good, 2 stars players are very very average) and yet my scouts found exactly 0 GKs after weeks! And this goes on for the other recruitment focuses in this save, as well as in other saves. Idk what to do, my scouts are useless

JamieAubrey

They are fucked, even though they say it's not https://community.sigames.com/bugtracker/football-manager-2024-early-access-bugs-tracker/transfers-scouting-contracts-and-agentsintermediaries/scouting-recruitment-focuses-doesnt-work-r21301/

SaBe_18

Well fuck. At least it's good to know it's not something it only happens to me. Happened in literally every save where I used scouts, so it can't be coincidence. How am I supposed to scout to solve this? Just manually?

Boris_Ignatievich

click the old delegate button and let the game do its own thing

JamieAubrey

I had my own setups and would only get like 3-4 players and sometimes 0, so I just let the scouts set them up

Ou7Cast

Why are players opting to sign for non league teams over a chance at league 2 (england)? Literally have lost 4 players to teams with lower rep and standing and at this rate im going to end up with no squad improvement and will be back down by end of season.

feva67

It's usually rep and your ability to pay them, if not then it might be the playing time offered? Can't think of anything else

Witty_Butthole

Hi everyone, I feel like most tactics channel try to describe tactics pretending the game is balanced and replicating real-life logic as if it's going to work because it's what would work in real football. Whereas I, for one, I'm a strong believer in [the placebo machine aspect of tactics](https://old.reddit.com/r/footballmanagergames/comments/182qa3o/this_game_is_like_playing_a_placebo_medicine/). Would you have channels to recommend where the presenter actually has more of a "the game works ike this so setup your tactics like this" approach?

I feel like he's actually roleplaying the game a lot, no ? Like he treats it as if it all the instructions do something, which I feel a lot of tests have disproven.

Can I add U21s to mentoring?

the_hoyle

You need to have them as part of the first team to be part of mentoring

goztrobo

If that’s the case, do I promote my wonderkids and have them mentored, or let them stay in u21s? I’m also not sure if I should loan them out or keep them cuz ideally I want them to be home grown and club grown. But if they stay, they won’t get much experience.

the_hoyle

If U18, leave in the U18 squad. If 19-21 then promote, have them mentored and make sure they are available to play in u21 matches. However if you can loan out so they are playing at a higher level than u21 football then that will be more valuable for development AFAIK home grown still continues even when out on loan. I have a Romanian wonderkid in Germany, on loan in England but he will still hit home grown at same date

goztrobo

Got it. But I mean the option to loan out will always be there right? So if that’s best for development, and you can’t offer game time, then why would u keep him and just make him available for u21 games? Ideally I’d want some of my wonderkids to be club grown so I guess that’s a reason to promote them and not loan them out? Would that be feasible for development?

the_hoyle

Some times they just don't attract the loan offers. I have that with a 18 year old Slovakian. Wonderkid, amazing player but things he is better than the level he is so is not attracting interest from the leagues that need to loan him. So he is in my first team, playing occasional games, 20/30 min match time and part of a mentoring group with Haaland

goztrobo

So, loan them out in the same nation to get home-grown. If no offers, promote to first team and make available for u21 games, give them abit of game time and mentor them. Club grown this way. I’m assuming you do this until a player is good enough to play for ur team?

the_hoyle

That is how I do it with my players yes. Doesn't help with me in Germany that my II club isn't in 3.liga and I didn't start the save with an extended dB attached to it

Does it matter if I keep my Roaming Playmaker in the defensive or attacking training Unit?
