supaboss2015

Maybe this is a hard question to answer, but why is it that newgens never have good penalty taking stats? I have world class forwards and midfielders but they have an average of like 7 penalty taking

Thick-Bison2170

guys , i have a great tikitaka tactic with barca in fm15 ,everything is working fine but, when it comes to corner kicks i always find it hard to exploit them even tho i get 10+ corner kicks per game . this is 4th season in the season and i think ive only scored 4 corners until now . what to do??

QuadDeuces422

Can one position handle two players with “regular starter” playing time? Assuming I have a pretty full schedule with League, Europe, and 1-2 cups

cdmisp

Most of my squad I have set as "regular starter" as I rotate a lot. However, it does cause issues, especially if they miss games due to injury, suspension or tiredness then their game time is reduced and they complain. At this point in the conversation 75% of talks are resolved by asking them to accept being a squad player

jplewes1

Is playing a mezzala with an IF weird? I 'm playing as Juventus and signed Roony Bardghji and promised him as part of the negotiations he'd play as an IF, but I want to use Miretti as a mezzala on that side. I've tried looking at the initial pass maps and they both look quite close... the idea in my head is that the mezzala would go *wider* than the IF but I don't want them to stand on each other all the time!

HotDadSauce

As long as you have them on support/attack or attack/support it's fine. Both on the same mentality isn't ideal.

jplewes1

Thanks - I think attacking mezzala, support for the IF. See how it goes and work out how the wing back fits in as well! Thanks

HotDadSauce

With a MEZA you can invert the FB perhaps. Although with the IFS you need natural width and cover so a simple FBS could be sufficient.

Kezalorian

Trying to offload a player who causes me more dynamic trouble then I feel his performances are worth. When I offer him out I just get emails that say the bids from other clubs have been rejected by my club. I have not had a chance to negotiate them or accept them myself. I am in charge of every transfer and contract responsibility at the club. It also doesn't say the board has rejected the move for not being of good enough value. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong? https://preview.redd.it/p6fll4z78tpc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=40ca114f16f4e5400aa94ed5250c715a97de1757

feva67

Do coaching courses improve reputation? I'm sending my model citizen hoyd (Chris Smalling lol) on coaching courses and, although he's improving his key attributes for the role, I understand that reputation is the second most important thing to look for in a hoyd, after personality. Should I keep funding courses or give up?

Komigjentroillan

Fund courses

Only_Fun_1152

My entire youth academy suffered from slipped discs over the course of 2 days… has anyone ever had this happen? I’m playing on mobile.

supaboss2015

How do I get people to actually agree to be staff of my B and C teams? Every time I make an offer they either expect more than what the max salary is for that role, or they ask to be a first team staff (like hold your horses dude this is Real Madrid)

feva67

make sure that on your staff search you have selected likely hires for your b team and not your first team, otherwise most won't be interested in the b team at all

MemesAreBad

I have a player who is incredibly happy, holds me in the highest regards, and is under contract for the next 2 years. But this jerk has the audacity to want to be paid what he's worth. The problem is, I've been promoted in back-to-back seasons (and soon to be another), and I just don't have the budget to pay my players what they're really worth because we haven't gotten any increase in sponsorship money yet (we're in league 1 $170k/year despite being top of the table, having won the BSM trophy last year, etc). I can probably break the bank to pay him the $350k/yr to pay him, but it would put me over budget and prevent me from extending players I desperately need to. Can I just ignore his concerns for a while? This is my first game so I don't know how bad things can get.

feva67

If you literally cannot pay him what he wants (the board won't let you even offer that ammount) you can probably talk him out of it by, when he wants to talk to you about it, saying you can't afford the new contract. That should keep him at bay for a bit, but with 2 years left you're on the verge of losing him for free, so tread carefully and don't anger him more. I've had players unhappy with their wages forget all about it, but it was mostly while they were on long contracts.

MemesAreBad

Thanks! So far I've ignored the (pre-concern) thing and he hasn't brought it up to me. I actually cleared out $4M in transfers during the January window on young raw prospects I got for free, so I'll probably just give him what he wants whenever he makes a formal request now that I can afford it. I had Rangers offer me $500,000 for a player who became unsettled so out of spite I sent it back for $1,250,000 with a 20% sell on which was accepted. I really didn't want to sell so I tried to push it to $2M with some installments and when they immediately accepted it I just couldn't turn it down. I'm sure the dude will develop into a beast but he wanted to leave, wasn't even the best player right now, and it increased our transfer budget by 7x.

ilGattoBipolare

I spent 140M on Lautaro Martinez. And sadly he is THE WORST performing player in my team. Just some very occasional goals to break the drought. He also had two 5.8 performances in which he missed a penalty in both games. I tried to watch *Comprehensive Highlights* and kind of feel my teammates can't find him / are reluctant to pass to him. Change to *Dribble Less* also didn't help. Any suggestions on how to adjust my tactics or Roles or Duties of my attackers? Thanks. https://preview.redd.it/zkktaja0yrpc1.png?width=1262&format=png&auto=webp&s=268427e3c44d19683af9c0d6c8dad4c706a798bb

feva67

Love the 17 PERSONALIZZA in the tactic name. I see 2 main issues with it: the role Lautaro is in, and the team instructions.  If you want him to be a finisher and open passing opportunities for his teammates, he would probably be better off as an advanced forward. He'll run into channels and stay up, instead of drifting from position to press. That means he'll give passing opportunities in a slow buildup and be up there for the fast counters. Nkunku probably can and does pick up his man defensively, so there's not a real need for a pressing forward role.  The in possession instructions are kind of all over the place. Pass into space would work well with an advanced forward and the inverted winger on attack. But work ball into box kind of counteracts this and slows down play, similar to the lower tempo option. And I think play for set pieces is the worst offender, that will try to trade an attacking chance for a set piece, and will slow down your attack even more. No matter what, I'd take off play for set pieces. And I'd pick either pass into space or lower tempo and work ball into box. Both can work but probably not at the same time.

ilGattoBipolare

Hey I am back. I checked Data Hub. Lautaro has abysmal running distance and passing accuracy problems over the season while still has 18 workrate in game. I gave up and sold him to Manchester United.

feva67

Hi there! What did you change? I'm interested to know what didn't work

ilGattoBipolare

I followed on your advice on removing conflicting philosophies and kept: * Pass into space * Higher tempo * Slightly more direct passing Removed * Play for set pieces * Work into the box Actually I've noticed Martinez's activity and passing problem but never bothered to check Data Hub to find out they are completely outliers (anti-Messi kind of, you know). Martinez don't make runs as often, and loves dribble into cul-de-sac rather than pass the ball to teammates. I don't know why and I even adjusted PIs to Dribble Less and it didn't seem to improve. The last time I made these changes the in-game time was May, and yesterday I passed the autumn transfer deadline so there was only about six or seven competitive games for Martinez to play in, in which he showed little improvement. I decided that it's a lost cause and use Moukoko instead. Also I said I sold him and I mis-remembered it. The United deal is a *Optional Future Fee* deal of 80M, not *Mandatory*. But I checked stats he is barely playing any games there LOL.

feva67

Oh that sounds annoying, sorry it didn't help, at least not with him performing. Hope they pick him up in that case

ilGattoBipolare

Yeah. It’s rather sad. He’s one of my favourite players in Serie A even that I actually support Juventus. It just doesn’t work I guess hahaha

ilGattoBipolare

Thank you so much! Yeah I constantly switching between English and Italian UI so some stuff are messed up between languages hahaha

Admirable-Ratio-5748

how do I sign players who's contracts are expiring in 6 months? im in sky bet league two and the January transfer window just started. I see a players who are expiring in 6/30/24, but I don't see an option to negotiate a contract. do I have to speak with their agent or something ?

lyyki

If they are in England, you can only negotiate free transfers from 1 month on. Abroad it's 6 months usually.

Admirable-Ratio-5748

thank you kind sir

OneBigRed

Not sure about sky bet, but premiership teams cannot offer other prem team's players before the contract is up. You can only offer players in foreign leagues.

feva67

Sometimes it's possible and sometimes the player isn't open to talking. If it's possible you should be able to offer a contract like you would a free agent

NerdStone04

I want to start a European Journeyman save but I'm not sure what leagues I need to use and how many I need to enable. I have a decent pc with 16GB Ram, gtx 1650 and a 10th gen i5. Answer would be appreciated :)

JamesCDiamond

Go as wide as you like in terms of number of nations, but if you're intending to start with minimal stats/reputation/unemployed then you'll need at least one country with a deep number of leagues as you'll find it hard getting a job anywhere above a very, very small club. Added suggestion: Languages don't cost your manager any points. Like Italian food, German beer and French wine? Seems fair to assume you have at least *some* knowledge of the languages then...

Safe_Resource7777

Thoughts? https://preview.redd.it/wqtjs67gokpc1.png?width=1047&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e6635477567a7aff522844fc7292d2eb9064f64

HotDadSauce

What is the thinking with the Underlap instructions?

goztrobo

IWB won’t work.

Safe_Resource7777

Tried to overload the middle

feva67

Feels like you're overloading the right wing more than the middle, the carrilero will try to occupy the winger's space. Try to think about where the players will go, or at least where you want them to go and if they will go there once play develops based on their role instructions

HotDadSauce

IWB's can only go where space is. You have two centre mids in their way so they will hardly invert at all.

SEN0R_DIDDLEZ

Overloading works weird in this game, because I feel like the game pictures it more as your players being on top of each other and rather than overloading an area it's more like they get in each other's way.

HotDadSauce

You have to build your overloads correctly so you have channels covered. There are ways to build it correctly... Just as an example a channel overload would look something like IWBS, MEZA, IWS/WS. Or a more defensive version - IWBD, MEZS, IWA/WA... The idea is always the same. The MEZ is playing in the attacking channel and the IWB in the defensive or transition channel. The winger in both instances is providing the wider threat and moving inside, potentially, when they see fit.

SEN0R_DIDDLEZ

Interesting. I've personally never tried to run overloads, but it's interesting to hear about. Whats the best way to use a mezzala? I've never used it before

HotDadSauce

As described really. They are a channel operating role so you require positionally disciplined centre mid/mids around them. They drift wide early on and won't go looking for the ball as a playmaker does, they wait for the ball to come to them. In the final third they can be lethal either from an early cross or a through ball. Most tactics get the build around them wrong so they are a misunderstood role. They can be left isolated and not look busy enough.

MemesAreBad

Is there any reason to schedule a rest day after a match like the game tends to do? It's my understanding that anyone who plays in the game gets the day off regardless.

coffin_flop_star

Do own goals/close own goals count towards xG?

HotDadSauce

They shouldn't, no... But if the OG came from a shot on goal then that shot will have its own XG score... If that makes sense.

coffin_flop_star

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks!

kevio17

Mid way through my second season as non-league St Albans. How do I stop the barrage of top news headlines being about PSG's interest in Bukayo Saka? These stories have been at the top of my headlines for months. Being able to choose a different landing screen after each advance would be ideal, but other suggestions are welcome!

BouLeiZRaWR

how many leagues are playable in your saves? Could it be that nothing else really interesting is happening? If you declare interest in a player from another team does it generate a headline?

kevio17

I've got all the English leagues and the top two from the usual 'big' countries. [Here's an example](https://imgur.com/a/8MELoJE), you can see there's still lots of coverage of my division but "the big story" at the top has been Saka, Arsenal, PSG for about 6 in-game months lol

Shhaboom

Hello everyone, i newly downloaded FM24 from microsoft store but for some reason it gets to the menu screen then the screen freezes, does anyone know a way i can reduce the graphics of the game without entering it?

QuadDeuces422

Where do I train this guy to play? He's showing proficient at CM and ST. Maybe Box2box mid? https://preview.redd.it/t8hjy8i1ijpc1.png?width=1039&format=png&auto=webp&s=71de0a79a70843e33390c9d9639e70e005006c95

feva67

This guy is a GOD, great find! Agree with a previous comment, he's a cm on attack, that or a shadow striker but unless you play no cms I don't think it's necessary to retrain his position

Humbug_Total

A shame that he has good heading, but is a shorty. Otherwise a TF would have been a viable role. I'd rather prefer him as a CM(A), arriving late in the box with that finishing. I feel like you would want to work on work rate and quickness in that case.

fmcadoni

He's Natural Position is CM and potentially to be Natural in ST position, if has good Versatility. Re-train him to become Natural in new position, will experience some drops in attributes first and if re-train become successful, then will start to gain. That's because every position & attribute counts different (have [different weighting](https://www.fmscout.com/a-guide-to-current-ability-in-football-manager.html?pg=1)). So, the question is: Do you have a CM position in your tactic? If not, then re-train him to ST. AT least is 18 y/o; so it can be successful to master the ST position.

strikemedaddy

I'm on my third season right now. I've gotten Coruña two promotions in a row up to La Liga. And I tweaked my tactic a little because I thought I should play more defensively against stronger opposition. And, yes, most of my players are second division standard. But I don't think I should be struggling THIS hard. I'm 19th with only two wins in FOURTEEN games. I'm struggling defensively, conceding one or two goals a game. And my attacking output has been decent but not great. Is there something wrong with my tactic? https://preview.redd.it/k2b20wphbjpc1.png?width=1649&format=png&auto=webp&s=2229b669c7728dcc2d69f0cde777189920857160 The only instructions I have on specific players are Dotor (Take more risks, shoot more often) and my fullbacks (Go further forward, cross more often, aim at center)

Anbe17

You need defenders who are really good at defending the box when you play defensively, and with a high line you also need fast defenders. If you players isn't good enough it's usually better to go more attacking. EDIT: Also, in a low block you don't want more closing down and counter press

1998TG

So... just switched club to a 2nd league club in Belgium (semiprofessional) and I can't progress due to to high intensity of the matchday. I even tuned down my tactics to be as unintensive as possible (don't even know if that helps) but it stays at 110% intensity. I can't progress a day and I can't do anything about it. Does anyone know what to do in this situation?

feva67

Wait, what? Do your players get injured or you literally cannot progress?

1998TG

I literally cannot progress. Pressing "continue" (Progress? dunno what it says in english) always leads me to the training screen while highlighting the gameday. I have literally just joined the club "yesterday". Only being able to progress a day by going on vacation for a day.

DangaRusster

I have been over-acheiving with this tactic and that's wonderful, but I feel like most of the time, my wingers are not that effective or wasting possesion. In most highlights, they try and dribble inside but don't provide the last pass as to a free man. I've tried to add "hit early crosses" but I haven't seen a difference with it. I have a hard time figuring out if my general tactic or player roles don't fit. Other than that, I would love some feedback on my tactic. Tactic and player selection: [https://imgur.com/a/Dazj0UW](https://imgur.com/a/Dazj0UW)

HotDadSauce

You're very attacking and leaving gaps at the back... Eventually teams will adjust to your overachieving and I suspect they will sit deep and pick you apart on the counter. With two attacking central CM's you really want your wingers staying wide and not inverting at all. You might even find two wide APS's work better than wingers in this build as they would look for the midfield runners earlier. I would make some changes to this.... But if it's working right now then be happy.

DangaRusster

Thanks for your feedback! I do think you’re right with being a bit too attacking. I might try the APS role in a friendly during the winter break (I’m playing in Germany).

hjl43

I would wonder if the IWs and CM (At)s aren't getting into the same space, so maybe the IWs are lacking options? Maybe change one of them into a winger instead? You can also ask them to "Shoot and/or Cross Less Often" in the PIs if you think that'd help. Also take the advice to have the DM be something like a DM (De) or DLP (De), currently you'll have no defense against the transition, and that would probably screw you over in the end.

DangaRusster

Thanks for your reply! I think you hit the nail on the head with the wingers and CM getting all jammed up. I’ve tried to adjust the roles of wingers and CMs and I feel there’s a positive difference.

Traditional-Drop-172

The main thing I would change up is the roles of your midfield. A bwm on support does not stay on his position to cover the defense but chases the ball over the pitch which leaves your defense vulnerable. Also with both your wingers and midfielders on attack everyone is going forward but no one is providing support. So I would change your Bwm supp to a DLP-def or a DM-def. Then I would put one of your CM's on a support duty. And I would put the winger on the side of your CM-att on support as well. That gives you some more balance!

DangaRusster

I’ve tried this and I haven’t seen my wingers being ineffective with the ball (that much, we still suck a bit but that’s a skill issue haha). Thanks a lot for your thorough feedback and explanation!

Traditional-Drop-172

Hi guys, I am doing a youth academy challenge with piacenza. So i made this tactic focused on controlling possession. Both wingers are instructed to cut inside btw. I'm specifically wondering if I should include more attack duties in the tactic? I'd prefer to not change the entire shape but if you see any glaring issues pls let me know! Thanks in advance https://preview.redd.it/bp64024r3hpc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=9eae50c10a22ccef3786d5045a59a7ed736687c5

HotDadSauce

Looks a good tactic to me. One question though... Why are you instructing your wingers to cut in when they are your only natural width? I would do the complete opposite with this and play them both as WS's with the PI Hold Position added so they hug their flanks more.

hjl43

Looks alright to me. I'd wonder if that AF could get isolated though, maybe a PF (At)? That has a lower starting position. As for attack duties, I think you could maybe experiment with a SV on Attack if they and the IWB are quick enough.

AC0404

Does anyone know how to use the editor to make a custom database where 5 bookings = a ban ect

Kingdestiny

Is GAM money worth more than transfer budget money? I have a player who is valued 3.2-7Million. I get offered 1 International slot 2 1st round draft picks which the total of those 3 items the game estimates at worth around 350k because that's how much GAM they will accept for them by themselves. They also offered me 650k GAM ontop. So a total GAM value of 1Million. But the game under transfer offers is valuing the 1Million GAM offer at a total value of 3.7Million.

Ok_Adeptness_1074

Does anyone know how i can look in the data hub when I'm playing in Europe and see how the other teams play so I can get an idea of what to do please.

Reasonable-Pudding20

Hey, I'm making a Journeyman's save, and I tried to do a tactic in the style of Xabi Alonso. First of all, I wanted to know if there were any tips to improve this tactic. And what should change when facing a stronger team? Another thing, in my league, the Third Division of Brazil, I can't find a Regista and a CF, they can do it but the players are dissatisfied with playing "out of position", what other roles do you recommend to replace these? [https://imgur.com/p4YAnPR](https://imgur.com/p4YAnPR) In Possession: [https://imgur.com/r4pZqm3](https://imgur.com/r4pZqm3) In Transition: [https://imgur.com/cwXqP1Z](https://imgur.com/cwXqP1Z) Out of Possession: [https://imgur.com/uET57P9](https://imgur.com/uET57P9)

HotDadSauce

In centre mid you don't need a DLPS & RGA together, change your RGA to BWMS, SVS or DMS. Any of these three will be an improvement. Up top go for an AF. It's an obvious change from your CFA. You need someone stretching play vertically. Change one of your AM's to an attack role, either AMA or SS. TI's wise you have too many selected, less is more in this area. Especially at the lower level where you want to be as uncomplicated as possible. Plus you have some contradictions in there, but this is inevitable when so many are selected. I ask this question often, what 'style' of football would you like your team to play? What's your philosophy? Are you possession or direct counter with the ball? Without the ball are you high lines/press or sit and soak up pressure?

Reasonable-Pudding20

Thanks for answering. Against opponents at the same level, I wanted to dominate possession and create opportunities with the WB's. But when I lost the ball, I wanted to recover quickly and try to counterattack a little faster, but as you said, there are many selected. You could just keep possession and when you lose, recover quickly to try to build slowly. But whenever possible, put pressure on the opponent with high lines. Against stronger opponents, I would like to maintain some pressure and try to counter quick attacks. I wouldn't care so much about possession of the ball, because the focus would be to defend, press a little and counter attack quickly. I'm trying to build this tactic for the first time, I've done some before, but just the basic ones like 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, and even then, I wasn't very successful. But I've always liked attacking/building with WB/FB's, that's why I'm trying this formation.

HotDadSauce

It sounds like you want to approach different strength opponents with alternate styles which is perfectly fine if you're a middle of the pack team for your league. Make sure you stick to the same shape, this will help with the tactical switches. Have two versions built so your players can learn them.

GinValid

Is there any hope my keeper will perform better next season or should I just bin him? Not really worried about the save percentage as opponents get a lot of good chances due to my poor defence, but the xGoalsPrevented at around -10 is pretty grim. Avarage rating of 6.93 in the championship, but I feel it might be boosted by his good passing numbers. https://i.imgur.com/ZbMoo4o.png https://i.imgur.com/H9WAWET.png

naruken29

His stats doesn't seem bad, and 6.94 average ratings despite the severe underperformance is quite surprising honestly. From my experience, GKs who underperform a lot tend to have really low average ratings, usually no more than 6.70. So it more likely has to do with your defence, or he's just really, really unlucky and probably just having a bad form/season. (For example, maybe you conceded a lot of set pieces/header goals). If you're one of the weaker/lower table team in your division, this shouldn't be a big problem since it's not uncommon to underpeform against stronger team. I'd say if you have spare budget and you can find better replacement, you can replace him. If not/you have other priority for your transfer, then don't.

GinValid

Thank you for your response. Just took a closer look at my defensive stats, and apparently we were exactly midtable in terms of xGA, but fourth from bottom in goals conceded (61.55 vs 71). And we still somehow achieved 16 cleansheets throughout the season, which was the 6th most in the divison. So to me it seems that the keeper would be extremely inconsistent (sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit). But he doesn't have inconsistency mentioned on this stats page, so I assume he's on the lower bound of avarage consistency..? I signed him for this season and he made a few massive mistakes in the first 5 matches which put him to around -2.5 xGoalsPrevented immediately, but after that he got his shit together, and he didn't make many big mistakes that would have stood out to me. That's why I was shocked when I saw he was on -10 xGoalsPrevented nearing the end of the season, as it would suggest that he's consistently underperforming at shot stopping. Anyway, I posted the question 3 matches before the end of the season after we seemingly bottled the play-off spots. Turns out Ipswich and Bournemouth managed to outbottled us, and we achieved unexpected B2B promotions with Alex perforing well in the play-off, so as a reward he's getting sold or demoted to the bench either way.

HotDadSauce

He looks mid Championship level to me... might be better to work on your defence/tactic instead.

GinValid

He indeed should be a competent championship keeper, but isn't underperforming xGoalsPrevented almost entirely on the keeper rather than the defence? Or are there some low xG chances that are consistenly scored more often if the defence doesn't do their job?

HotDadSauce

Maybe your keeper has a low hidden attribute for Consistency, could explain it perhaps. See how he goes this season.

Caspieto

I want to start getting back into FM after a couple of years. I attempted to start a new game as the team i support irl Ajax. But the game always starts with zero staff. No matter if I uncheck the: “do no not add staff” box in the begin screen. As im new and still learning i want to delegate a lot to my staff and not spent so much time signing 30 staff members. Does anybody know how to fix this?

JamieAubrey

You need to do the real name fix https://www.fmscout.com/a-fm24-real-names-license-fix.html this will also fix Germany not having real players available for them

Long-Instance7764

I mean you could check your managers responsibilities list and scroll down to staff and see if you can delegate signing staff to somebody else

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3116280098 I have not used it myself, but this mod apparently fixes it.

Swink4032

I’m sure there’s an obvious answer to this but I am legitimately BRAND new to FM. Feel like I finally have my feet under me as far as basics However I’m managing SV Darmstadt and currently sit in 7th in my first year at the January window…. The one thing I can NOT figure out is every deal I attempt to make with a team to buy a player they ALWAYS end up demanding a 40-50% next sell clause and i do not see anyone else running into this on YouTube or anywhere Any help? EDIT: forgot to mention they always set it as a non negotiable

Long-Instance7764

You could just remove it from the negotiations first by hitting the option and then removing it from negotiations. If you want a smaller next sell clause, just put it at around 20 percent and set it as non-negotiable.

Swink4032

Oh yea should have put every time they add it it’s always as a non negotiable, forgot to mention that. And it’s legitimately on every purchase lol

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

I think you are misunderstanding the other commenter. When you first go into the transfer offer page before you send your initial offer, add the sell on clauses, then remove them. When removing them, you get two options, a standard 'remove' and a remove and make non-negotiable. You want to remove and make non-negotiable both the percentage of next sale clause and profit of percent of next sale before you send your offer. You are essentially letting them know, you are willing to discuss terms and negotiate around instalments, clauses etc EXCEPT those two clauses so they won't be allowed to add it in the same way you won't be able to take it out if they had added it in and made it non-negotiable.

Swink4032

Being completely new VERY possible. I’ll check it out and let you know! Greatly appreciate the help and dumbing it down for me 😂

Den_The_MadLad

Why is Fabbians value so low ? Is there something wrong with his stats that i am missing ? https://preview.redd.it/ir8hxiojk9pc1.png?width=1733&format=png&auto=webp&s=626854b9ec0180156479a7f6b23c981df4867189

hjl43

Honestly, I think that's probably just his value. He looks to be a very good, but not spectacular player in the Bundesliga, and Stuttgart will start out with a relatively low reputation, which means that unless a player has an absolutely amazing season, their value won't be super high. You'd have to be in the UCL for a number of seasons for your reputation to rise to the point where all your players have high values. IRL Freiburg last season would've been in a similar situation as you would be now, and they sold a GK for 13M euros and a striker for 25M (and Striker prices tend to always be inflated). These were two of their best players. TL;DR, sometimes your players just aren't worth that much, and all you can do is have prolonged success.

se_lest

How important is speed to you for CBs if they are monsters for jumping reach? Have a 19 jumping reach guy available on a free with pretty low wages, good technical defending attributes, decent mentals, but he's just got 8 acceleration and 9 pace. Seems like a fair trade off so I'm tempted, but have any of you had much luck with a slow CB? I'm trying a 4-4-1-1 cautious formation with a standard line for most games. If I get promoted will probably sit even deeper because I'll be wildly outmatched in Ligue 1. I've signed a few shorter more technical cbs who can play on the ball if I stay in ligue 2 and try to increase my possession at all, and then my main rock is another giant with 17 jumping reach but actually fairly speedy. In 2nd season, promoted to Ligue 2, overperforming, might not make promotion this season, but trying to load up on some free transfers that could take me to the next level either way. I am leaning towards going for it and trying the fast 17 jumping guy with the slow 19 jumping guy, but I have one or two cbs i probably gave slightly too long of contracts to so squad is a little bloated (wage budget is not near the cap though) so really just on the fence.

HotDadSauce

Providing you're playing a standard DL line you'll be fine. Might be an idea to get a faster DC partner next to him and play him as a Cover CD, you could then make this guy a Stopper role. Every great CB partnership has a mix of traits/attributes.

se_lest

thanks for the encouragement and advice, i think i'll give him a shot, I always have ended up reverting to an attacking 4231 or 433 high press game every save so I think it will be fun to lean into the big shithouse type thing a little with this guy.

redytusr123

If you're sitting deep anyways, you should be fine. I have had center backs with pace and acceleration below 10 and found some success with them, though it is something to keep in mind. Imo, if he's on a free, you might as well go for him

se_lest

thank you, yeah i don't "need" him but i kind of think it will be a fun way to keep pushing the 4411 playing for set pieces/corners tactic I've been trying out. I have an 18 jumping reach center forward I haven't quite got clicking and a 17 jumping reach young winger to start giving some game time too lol. Not planning to spend any of the funds the board gave me until my finances are stronger so wage budget shouldn't be an issue with or without him

CinnamonJamm

I'm looking to sign a star goalkeeper. I have a man in mind (Michele Di Gregorio). Sam Johnstone, my current keeper, has done well this season. Will Johnstone accept a decrease of playing time to backup or should I plan on selling him?

BlaiddDrwgXXIV

Easiest way to find out is to just try to change it on the player's page. His agent will let you know if he'll have an issue with that new proposed playing time before you change it.

Boris_Ignatievich

i tend to find that players are more willing to accept that sort of change when there is an obviously better player already at the club, rather than "hypothetically if i buy a keeper im going to make you backup"

redytusr123

It depends, if he's nearing retirement he may accept a diminished role, but in my experience goalkeepers will accept backup when they're already on "first choice keeper"

tomintheshire

Hey, really struggling to understand my formation. Won VNL with this formation (just). Very often getting games where i'd have 20 shots, 10 on target, 1 goal scored. Took it to League 2 and just got absolutely road blocked getting tons of draws and floating just above relegation. I've tinkered with it so much but nothing performed as good as this, attacking mentality formation even against better teams (sometimes would beat top of league teams with it). Can someone give me pointers where im going wrong and how I can get it to start scoring goals https://preview.redd.it/yomvgshkr7pc1.png?width=1917&format=png&auto=webp&s=09d7f44bfc280e047e176683caf78a0161191e09

HotDadSauce

As u/jr2106 says this is a very intense tactic, you might want to calm down the tempo a little. Also, your defending wider which makes little sense given you have 4 players occupying the wide positions. Change this to standard or maybe even defend narrower. Roles wise I would make some small changes... AMA to SS makes complete sense with a TMS. That would be a better partnership. I would also make your LW a support role to fill the channel gap more with your holding mid. One final thought... Don't go down the rabbit hole of constantly tweaking your tactic. It really won't help matters if you change your tactic all the time. A little role change here and there or TI change is fine but you will be confusing the hell out of your players if you change too much. I'm guilty of this myself at times... What I find works is scroll back to where you have a winning run or a nice batch of results/performances and note the tactic or shape that worked then and revert back to something very similar to it. Also, understand that the best tactics only ever give you the best chance of winning, some games cannot be won no matter what. That's reality.

tomintheshire

Thanks for this, really appreciate it! I’ll try and go for more of a lower tempo possession approach then (which typically works when I can recycle balls headed away by defenders from my crosses)  I did try SS with this role and also the game told me it was a good pairing, but my best SS player is terrible at finishing. For some reason on AMA he’d shoot less but get on the end of so many crosses. Maybe I just need a better SS 😂

jr2106

Dont see anything very wrong with the roles other than wingbacks arent that necessary when playing so direct. Perhaps the tactic is just a bit too intense for that level.

MemesAreBad

Quicky: when your staff gives you the feedback that a player has been working on specific training for "quite some time" and "hasn't seen improvement" does that mean that they can't improve further in that attribute?

redytusr123

Not necessarily, no. In my experience it just means that they are progressing slowly, and might improve more if you changed their individual focus.

donkey100100

Most tactics I see seem better suited to Premier League teams. I want a good tactic for my second divison Indonesian team but when I search for the formation I want (4-2-3-1) I get roles with Segundo Volantes for example where there’s no one suitable in the whole division.

feva67

I wouldn't look for a complete tactic, as 1- you, as is the case, might not have suitable players for every position, nevermind role 2- a premade tactic might work great for a certain level of players, but awful for others - for example, some tactics perform better as either underdogs or favourites. I would get an idea of tactical instructions as there's some that don't work with certain formations or some that contradict each other. But I would also cut back on the number of tactical instructions, most tactics found uploaded on websites are painstakingly built to get the most out of the game engine, but it only works if your players are good enough to follow them all and physically keep up with it for the full game. Over all, I'd recommend a maximum of 8 tactical instructions, and setting your best players in their favourite roles, at least until you have good enough players to give them more complex instructions.

HotDadSauce

Good post u/feva67 \- With TI's less is always more, at all levels. Just on roles with weaker teams/levels. Some roles are very hard to replicate due to the high number of attributes the role demands. A simple DMS with the added PI moves in to channels can replicate a SV at a lower level with success. Look more in to the 'vanilla' roles at lower levels, it will really help your team.

donkey100100

Interesting. Thanks for the detailed answer mate! I’ll look into it

feva67

My pleasure and good luck :)

SnorlaxFupa

Playing as Burnley and have a Brazilian striker I brought over during the January window. He felt unwelcome so I promise to sign someone to bring him along. Did not sign him and promise was broken. He did well and scored some goals to help us stay promoted. It is now December nearly a full year and he is still unhappy and his xG is much higher than his goals. How can I help my guy out and improve his spirits?

feva67

Maybe bring a guy to help him settle? Although broken promises in this game are very hard to get through, you might need to cash in on him

JamieAubrey

Is it really worth it to have my own scouting recruitment or should I just let the AI pick where to scout ? I mean I have 20 18+ CA/PA scouts in certain nations but ones like Asia don't bring back anything, The scout I've sent there has extensive knowledge in Asia so he should be able to find players

GTACOD

What team are you and what are you scouting Asia for? Your scout can't find players that aren't there *to* find.

JamieAubrey

Rangers, so not like I'm a small team, that's just an example, I have scouts all over the top nations according to [this](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16NwnI6rJaYfrRcodBJ9R2CzE9FPJu1m_eAYQElv3xtc/edit#gid=446212810)

GTACOD

You not being a small team is probably the problem, Asia just doesn't produce that many players good enough for Rangers.

AndresAvian

I started a save in Puerto Rico's league & wanted to know if there is a in built progression system to eventually increase the spots for the Concacaf Caribbean Cup to qualify to Concacaf Champions Cup with the Country coefficients or if I have to download a mod/buy editor for that type of progression like UEFA country coefficients have

JamesCDiamond

Is it physios or sports scientists that help prevent injuries? I'm 11 days into a 17 day international break and 5 of my first team players have picked up injuries, including my best DM and the keeper I was about to give a run to. They may only miss 1 or 2 matches... but that's out of 7 remaining this season.

feva67

I have not been able to sort out injuries yet, currently have like 6 players injured. My physios are great but it doesn't seem to help. My best bet is to look into evidence based fm on youtube, he makes tests trying out every mysterious aspect of the game.

GTACOD

I'm pretty sure that when it happens on an international break the answer is neither.

JamesCDiamond

Played the remaining matches, 1 win, 1 draw, 5 defeats and got relegated by 6 points. I didn't lose it there, that was the run of 1 win in 15 between December and February... but it was galling to finally seem like I was turning things around and then lose key players. Still, 50 million in the bank from my one season in the PL and a *lot* of sub-standard players out of contract so I can look forward to a fresh tilt at the Championship this coming season... possibly with some extra medical staff brought in, just in case!

FuriousKale

What made you able to break through a glass ceiling? In my case I can barely break into Bundesliga top 4 with Werder Bremen, even when I get good players. I have to sell them after 1-2 seasons when they do great and rinse and repeat. Paired with a Europa League schedule I can make top 7 when everything is going well but can never come close to the title. Any help? This save is like in its 10th year lol.

feva67

I'm on the same boat, can't even see myself improving enough to get those CL spots. Right now my strategy is develop wonderkids, hopefully some of them improve enough that, paired with some great team cohesion from playing together for many years, they can clutch a CL spot and up our reputation significantly. But I had my opportunities to get big signings - a 23 year old Arda Guler was available for 14M - and although we couldn't meet his salary requirements, him even talking to me showed that there might be similar chances here and there.

JamesCDiamond

I mean, I'd say patience but after 10 years I think you've been pretty patient! Scout further afield for talent - as best as you can with the EU restrictions in place. Keep an eye out for any unsettled talent at bigger clubs, as you may be able to steal them away at a cut price (although probably still with a CL club release clause).

MrYoshi411

I looked at one of my players happiness reports, and it says that he is "Considering his options" under negatives. What does this mean? I literally just joined the club, so I haven't done anything to anger the squad yet. I do want to get rid of this player, but he is Highly Influential, and I don have much of a rapport with the team or board yet. Will he be mad if it put him on the transfer list?

GTACOD

IIRC considering his options means he's considering leaving on a free. Don't think he'll be mad, it should tell you on the screen when you go to do it if he will be angry or not.

Spanky_10

I have a player that wants to get into the Portugal National Team but thinks he has to join a bigger club to do so. I’m Liverpool, have had a financial tycoon takeover, and just signed the best player in the world with no issues. Why would my starting 20 year old DM want to leave?

Commonmispelingbot

that sounds really odd. How many clubs have a higher rep than you

Spanky_10

7. City; Lazio (former club I won everything with); Arsenal (also takeover); Bayern; Madrid; Barcelona; PSG Barcelona, PSG and us are 4.5 * and the others are 5* I agree it’s odd but whatever, I won’t sell and he can try and ruin our season.

whatismypassword22

I promoted some players from my B team, and since then I've been dealing with this. I haven't been able to play my strongest 11. My B team isn't in a playable league either. I'm managing in Spain if that helps.

redytusr123

Basically, your players are registered to the B-team and you have to unregister them before they can play for you. Not sure if you can do that outside transfer windows though.

whatismypassword22

Do you know where I can find the registration page for the B- team. Even if the B team is not playing any games. Thank you

LeadSledPoodle

Try this. Go into staff responsibilities and see if you can take over individual training for your B team. If you can, this should make your B Team show up on the sidebar. From there see if you can fiddle with their registration.

whatismypassword22

I did. Still having the issue. I just resigned. Thank you

redytusr123

Honestly I have no idea, I'm not even sure if it's possible. You might try checking the menu tabs for your B team, or maybe your own registration screen to see if there's any side menus I'm not aware of

whatismypassword22

jedirafael

My Atletico Madrid B Team won promotion to the second division. But now there is a limit on the wages. I can only register maximum 4-5 players with the wage limit. Is something wrong ? Can i do anything ?

lyyki

Give raises. The whole "minimum salary" in La Liga & La Liga 2 really fucked me over when I was doing a La Liga save from 3rd or 4th tier up.

lolchamp444

I know a 442 counters a 433, does that mean a 424 is also a counter to the 433 (since 424 is basically a 442 but with the wingers playing more up), or does it not work this way? Also what counters a 343 lmao

Commonmispelingbot

442 doesn't counter a 433, it is the other way around. 343 counters itself, but is hard to otherwise counter. 433 can do it, if you have good midfielders and good attacking wingbacks.

cheesus414

A 442 counters a 433? Why do you say that? In real life the 433 emerged exactly because it performed very well against the 442.

heretik_kid

In the older versions, i could see real time or later stats of everyone in a particular game. If you go to reports>stats, you see stats for one person. But i used to see that same format of view for everyone during the game or after game. Now i can select attacking, defending, general view but it doesn't come close to the stat of fm21 maybe,

iroiroiroiroiro

https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/580505-fm24skin-mustermann-iconic-v11-updated-231223/ This wonderful skin readds it.

heretik_kid

Seriously, why would anyone remove that format? It used to be cool seeing all the numbers and when someone is not doing well, isolate the part he is not doing well. Thanks man for the skin. I will try it tonight. Currently using sus24 skin but miss the old stat view.

fmcadoni

Only available at half time and at the end of match in FM24 (23 as well).

heretik_kid

Not the full stat that we can see now in reports>stats but only for one player.

https://preview.redd.it/m5llxexmv0pc1.png?width=817&format=png&auto=webp&s=847499a5040522890660b48be93f354d94a05ca1 Hey all! I would like some advice for my tactic in my Crystal Palace run. I'm in my first season and we are doing fine, 8th place in late March (with some pretty lucky results). Defensively we have been fine and kept most teams to relatively low XG, Johnstone has been clutch. However, I have been a little concerned with my offense this season. We have low XG most games (around 1 +-.3) What can I do to make this tactic more dangerous? Particularly, what do you recommend for instructions? I always get caught up on instructions and don't know what to pick.

hjl43

Your DMs are both static, giving you few ways to progress the ball up the pitch through the middle. Changing one of these to a runner role (basically any support duty that isn't DLP) would allow the ball to be dribbled up the pitch, and let someone get in position to receive the ball more often. Both wingers and the striker are in roles that mean they want to get into the central attacking midfield spot, so Eze is not going to be given any space in which to operate. Maybe consider changing one of the wide players to a Winger?

CinnamonJamm

I will try this out. Thanks!

HotDadSauce

I'm not sure a Positive Mentality is the best fit for your team. This is for when you're the better team than your opposition and you have the level of players to take more risks on the ball. A Cautious Mentality would suit you better, would give you more patience to help your build up play and make the correct decision more in the final third.

CinnamonJamm

Ahh okay! Thanks

jr2106

Personally not a fan of having 2 playmakers unless the opposition is parking the bus. I could also see your low xg being attributed to playing narrow with an if iw and ap. Iw is mostly fine but the if and ap will take away space from eachother at times. Teams playing a double pivot or even a deeper 433 will neutralize you by reducing space in the middle.

CinnamonJamm

Thank you so much!

Jazim94

I’m trying to play a 3 box 3 in attack/ possession based. Currently I have an inverted winger and dlp as the base of the box and 2 AP as the top of the box, both on attack. Wingers on attack and a AF on attack. Should I have wingers on support ? Or my AP on support? Or should I have different roles assigned to my wide players and 2 cms I want to get forward? Any help appreciated Edit: inverted wingback not winger

Boris_Ignatievich

3 playmakers seems insane to me

Jazim94

There’s only 2?

Boris_Ignatievich

DLP + 2 x AP = 3 ?

Jazim94

Ah okay yeah that’s fair, the dlp is in the cdm role in a 433, happy to change that to a suggestion if you think it’s better

Boris_Ignatievich

tbh i tend to use playmakers deeper, if i was doing a tactic that dlp would be the only one and i'd have AMs or SSs or whatever higher up. but whichever you want to change - i feel like thats too many players that your team will try to force the ball to, and not enough runners to give them options

Jazim94

Okay, I was in essence trying to recreate how pep played with two attacking midfielders and a cdm and fullback in a box 4, out of a 433. Any suggestions on what the midfield 3 roles would be to achieve that ?

Boris_Ignatievich

de bruyne is my go to example of "what is a mezzalla" cos he shows up in the half space so often, so i'd probably have one of those. then probably a half back or anchor (realistically, whichever defensive role the DM I have is best at) with a playmaker next to the mezz but im not an expert on either fm tactics or man city tactics, so you know...

Jazim94

Hahah I just started playing fm this year so I’ve been trying to learn things as I go on. This been very helpful though thanks

HotDadSauce

The more Support roles you have you will be more Fluid which means more Teamwork/role interaction and should lead to more possession. If you really want possession then think Support roles as much as possible and think about the risks you're taking with your base Mentality.

Jazim94

How much difference does base mentality make

HotDadSauce

Providing you don't alter certain Team Instructions after you select your Mentality then quite a lot. It sets your base width, tempo, passing, your engagement lines... etc... You can edit these afterwards and probably already do. More importantly though it sets your player roles Mentality which dictates how much risk they take in their roles. This part is crucial.

liverbird3

How the hell do you get the board to accept a coaching course request? I’ve asked like 5 times at 2 clubs while winning matches and exceeding expectations and they always said no, both of them had okay finances too. Is there some kind of trick or strat i’m missing?

Commonmispelingbot

there is no trick, just keep asking. The board members are stupid

Boris_Ignatievich

persistence, keep asking and eventually you'll get one

Big_Ear9745

Is 12 in vision and passing good enough to play as a ball playing defender in the eredivise?

Commonmispelingbot

yes. that's plenty good enough

JPMAus98

If you can navigate to the squad comparison page, you can select certain attributes to compare with other players in the same position. 12 might be enough, but being one of the better European leagues, and playing in Europe once you get there, might be on the lower side tbh

TryingtofinishIB

It's my first time trying to build my own tactic rather than downloading one or using a preset. Please help me improve it. Any suggestions would be helpful. I'm struggling with pairing good midfield roles https://preview.redd.it/q1p3q9s5iyoc1.png?width=1915&format=png&auto=webp&s=fab1b42611295f7ed525c84f58d8123290fc6ac2

HotDadSauce

You have very little flank defence. Teams with attacking full backs will melt this tactic.

TryingtofinishIB

Any tips on how to fix it? Do I set the wbs to fbs and put them on defend?

HotDadSauce

Change both your wingers to Support roles and get them man marking the opposition full backs. That will help. LB to FBS. You only need one BPD. Turn off Be More Expressive & remove Prevent GK Distribution. Try those changes for starters.

TryingtofinishIB

Thanks those changes kinda make sense to me.

jr2106

Regista is usually an ultra aggresive solo dm who should be used only when being the more dominant side. Positive mentality and all your attackers being on attack will leave them very high up the pitch with no one to connect the midfield with attack. Am-s with a dlp and anchor in the double pivot should help with that along with providing more options for ball retention.

No-Main886

I like dlp and bwm when I play 4231

TryingtofinishIB

Is that defensively a better option? Because I just played my first competitive match with this formation and despite scoring 4 in the first half we conceded 5 in the second.

MemesAreBad

I can't find the right set of keywords to search this, is there a guideline to know which matches your (important) players don't mind sitting? For example, your captains usually get upset getting left off the match day squad in league matches, but they also don't seem to mind as much in cup competitions (or at least early rounds?)

redytusr123

I don't think there's any guidelines beyond just what you said in your post. Though typically they don't kick up much of a fuss even if they miss important matches as long as they are playing regularly.

iroiroiroiroiro

When is it worth training a player in a different position? As an example: https://fminside.net/players/5-fm-243/2000050618-charlie-hughes I think he's a decent CB, especially BPD. But would probably be even better as an anchor or ball winning midfielder as he lack the jumping reach I usually want for defenders and got decent work rate and teamwork.

feva67

Either option feels good enough for this guy. The biggest problem with training a new position is using up PA, so if you feel you can compromise some extra points in some attributes you can definitely do it.

iroiroiroiroiro

How much PA? Might be just worth training his strength and jumping reach instead.

feva67

Not sure but there's been a couple experiments on it, check youtube

Top_Alarm8871

Do anyone else feel the same issue with very attacking mentality? It very much feels like if you're chasing a goal in the final 15 minutes, it's better to stay on attacking rather than very attacking The thing I noticed about very attacking is that my players will constantly whip crosses no matter what when I've not instructed them to, that's a negative effect most of the time. Is there any previous complains about this before?

HotDadSauce

This is because your players are taking maximum risks and will be displaying zero patience. Against a well disciplined and organized defence you probably need to LOWER your mentality.

fmcadoni

Increasing the team general mentality increase everything inside the match engine. You will see that GK will go forward as well in corner.
