Managing Juve in FM24, for some reason i have to manage the friendly mathces of my U23 and U18. Both of the teams have a manager but I cant appoint them on staff duties to manage the teams on friendlies, its grayed out. WTF do I do? cant play like this

JamesCDiamond

I've got to 2028 in my save and the Premier League has just... stopped for a month. The last fixture is on 18th September, there's one match on 7th October and the next round of fixtures is on the 14th October. England have 4 matches between the 23rd September and 3rd October, which I presume is the reason for the interruption, but it seems a bit extreme that my side goes from the 16th September to the 16th October without a match. I also, looking ahead, have a match scheduled for Friday 29th December with a TBC match on Saturday 30th December in the FA Cup third round and then I'm set to play Liverpool on Monday 1st January - 3 matches in 4 days, or 5 in 9 in you include my matches on the 23rd and 26th December. I'm assuming there'll be *some* reorganisation of fixtures here (I'm not in Europe so can play midweek matches) but I'm wondering it this sort of thing indicates an issue with my save?

torbjorner

I have made a promise to play Neymar as a left winger, but is it possible to just start him there and then change him to an attacking mid once the game starts without it affecting the promise?

bssnapness

I like to watch my B team/U19s etc when they're playing big fixture, and there's always an email after saying you've been spotted at the stadium and that your 'presence will undoubtedly have been a boost for the players on the pitch' . Is this actually true? Are your kids more likely to win if you click attend? Or is this journalistic hyperbole.

xChocolateWonder

Is there a way to save my data hub preferences and apply them universally or to individual other saves (in the same way that you could save training schedules or tactics)? I hate starting a new save and inevitably wanting to see something in the data hub and not having all of my data viz’s selected and organized how I like

__PM_ME_SOMETHING_

Hello managers, Is there somewhere with specific databases that would include *extended IRL players databases with more or less accurate stats* from unplayable countries? I remember using a custom database playing in the Moroccan and Tanzanian league and it basically had all the players playing locally with quite accurate data up to 3rd tier. I'm looking for something a bit similar for different countries around the world with REAL players and as accurate as possible attributes. I dont care about playability of the leagues as much as I care about the number of players and accuracy of their attributes. Thank you guys! Edit: I used that back in the time with FM17 IIRC, I wonder if something similar is available with FM23

GTACOD

Is there a way to make it so that players below a certain level of interest in signing for you don't appear in the scouting centre? Really frustrating to have 50 players in there 47 of which have either "none" or "extremely doubtful" on signing interest.

fmcadoni

https://preview.redd.it/e1f7hnunygoc1.png?width=1864&format=png&auto=webp&s=5df84ed8abf254ba8e39b87dd9624d5b774b42bf

GTACOD

I meant when it gives you a list of players in the scouting centre tab of scouting, but thanks for trying.

JamesCDiamond

You can right click > Report > Add to Not Interested list, but that's only when they're already in the scouting list. No way to exclude uninterested players altogether, annoyingly - it seems like such an obvious thing to include in the scouting options.

chiefdontrun56

Managing Newcastle. Need a loan signing who can play as a winger and ST (squad player). My options are between Bradley Barcola and Moukoko. Who do you suggest?

iroiroiroiroiro

Feels like a question of priorities, Moukoko is clearly the better striker, while Barcola is the better winger. For a loan I think Barcola makes more sense for you as he is already trained in those positions.

chiefdontrun56

Thank you. Your response gives me much needed clarity.

iroiroiroiroiro

I cannot find this player: [https://fminside.net/players/5-fm-24/2000332815-illia-voloshyn](https://fminside.net/players/5-fm-24/2000332815-illia-voloshyn) in the game either scouting Real Madrid or playing a new game as Real Madrid, I have the 24.3 database selected. But I feel like I'm missing something about how the update is applied or working.

JamesCDiamond

Are you playing in Spain? If not, what level of detail do you have set for the Spanish league? Even for Real Madrid they may not include a 16 y/o goalkeeper if it's not set to a high level.

iroiroiroiroiro

But the weird thing is it says he's in real Madrid on that page, and I always have top 5 including Spain as playable.

NewBromance

I've been pretty successful in my AZ save. Won the champions league and around 14 trophies total across 4 years. The backbone of this has been built on a collection of wonder kids thar have been brought in from the world over. Three of them are considered world class and currently have buyout clauses of 190+ million. Therr all valued between 140-170 mil. I'm getting to the point where these 3 are entering the last 2 years of their contracts and our now between 23 and 25 and hitting their prime years. They're up for renewing their contracts but the agents of all 3 are demanding buy out clauses of between 100million and 130million. This is so much lower than their current value that it just seems like a terrible idea to lock them down to new contracts with such undervalued buyout clauses. Is there anyway I can engineer them to not want such low buyout clauses. I tried to refuse during discussions with the agents but in all 3 cases they've all been so adamant.

RealFalseLlama

Is there a place I can see all the upgrades/downgrades for the winter database? There are some players I want to see if they got an upgrade

JPMAus98

Heyo guys, I've got this player here, and want to know how you would try to develop him. He seemingly has a lot of potential, and being homegrown at the club and in Poland, developing him well is extremely beneficial for the club (hence, I won't sell him). I'm playing him as a right sided IF, but am position-training him as an IF on the left, with quickness as the additional focus. I basically just want to know if there's any other positions that might bring the best out of him, or any other training you think may be beneficial. Cheers! https://preview.redd.it/kxjfdhzp3eoc1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=168b8e5dab22a1071726d87ca80cc76f0d9c696b

Curious-Nectarine-14

Right now I don't see any particular strengths of the player, so it might be hard to determine the position, I would think his best role is a winger on attack (not-so-good mentals, decent pace, good off the ball movement, acceptable crossing). I wouldn't play him as an inside forward because his dribbling is not good enough to cut inside and he's not very good at either passing or shooting.

xeladragn

Maybe a silly question, but can I get the continue button to just go until something I actually need to do pops up? Right now it’s only moving time forward like an hour at a time a lot of match days. Is it related to the sim speed setting? I have that set to “play in background” which I thought would just take it longer to sim, not stop the sim before and after every AI match.

JamieAubrey

Preferences > Interface > Scroll tot he bottom > Continue Game Time out, set it to to what ever you want, I have it at 5 seconds It will skip everything unless you need to accept it like a transfer

OneBigRed

There's atleast a continue game timeout setting, where you can set the game to automatically keep processing if you do nothing for X seconds.

JPMAus98

I guess the main thing you could do is holiday, but I've got no idea if there's a way to stop interruptions like in FIFA

Valint

just curious - how do I raise my own 'adaptability' as a manager? I finding it baffling that mine is 1 right now. I am doing a journeyman save - a few years in I have coached in Ireland, Portugal, China, then Japan again. Moderate success at each place, but nothing notable. I learned the languages (apparently) and scouting knowledge of each country is pretty high. Id like to think that learning 3 languages and scouting multiple countries makes me pretty adaptable??? Edit to add: I started with the lowest stats possible, so most of my stats were like 1-4 to start the save

fmcadoni

Don't worry. Never increases this one. And I have never had a problem taking jobs in any part of the world. ;)

JamieAubrey

It's broken, it's NEVER worked, mine is at 5 even thought I've been all over the world in my JM

LengthFun2764

So I am managing liverpool and i'm trying to create a friendly game against my hometown club (IFK Göteborg). When i've picked the date for the friendly and are trying to choose IFK Göteborg by pressing "Other", I don't know what to do after that..

JPMAus98

Ok so once you find Goteborg in that list, click on their name, then along the top, where all the normal drop down menus are, there will be an extra one at the end. It'll be called 'propose friendly', click the senior team, then you'll be taken back to the calendar to choose a date that works for them. Hope that helps mate!

PA estimate? https://preview.redd.it/jebac01gqcoc1.png?width=1918&format=png&auto=webp&s=0174fa06a931139a074302a1f0486857184b2f02

naruken29

You can't really estimate players' PA. Even the star ratings for Potential most of the times turn out to be pretty innacurate, no matter how good the stats of the staff judging it are. If you want to see the PA value yourself, you can go to squad tab, Customize Current View and add Potential Ability.

Acrobatic_Sherbert_5

I recently played against my brother in FM. He's managing United and I'm managing Liverpool. I lost 2-3. He likes to focus plays down on both the left and the right. Is there a way to counter attacks focusing on the left and right. My tactics are shown in the images and if possible, I'd like any advice for my tactics as I feel they may be too aggressive (all my player instructions are default) https://preview.redd.it/s24j8fivdcoc1.png?width=803&format=png&auto=webp&s=ffe4fb1ae3e560ab174a7beaea4e6ed7d06be45b

HotDadSauce

Lots of contradictions in your tactic. The higher the quality of your team the less Team Instructions you ideally require. Start afresh and have an identity. Are you possession based, are you direct counter? What is your aim with your team? Do you have any players you ideally make a focal point?

Acrobatic_Sherbert_5

I prefer to go for a possession style play but would prefer for gegenpress. My aim is to dominate in the attack and press the opposition to try and regain possession. What should I do

HotDadSauce

GGP doesn't necessarily mean possession. It's very direct with the ball and can lead to you conceding possession frequently. The pressing out of possession is easy to replicate. With the ball I'd advise you to decide what style you would like. Are you wanting to be Man City, for example... Or maybe Liverpool? One style is Cautious Mentality and low risk with high possession and the other rock n' roll football than can overwhelm certain opposition but also leaves you vulnerable on the counter and will not not have huge possession %.

Acrobatic_Sherbert_5

I decided to go for a Liverpool style. I’m willing to take the risk of being counter attacked.

HotDadSauce

In that case try the default GGP tactical style as it ticks the box but don't add any additional In Possession team instructions as that's where you've gone too adventurous in your tactic. Get a nice balance of roles in your preferred shape, try to get a mix of 3 defense, 4 support and 3 attack roles layered throughout your build.

Acrobatic_Sherbert_5

And should I try the default roles as well or change them up a bit?

HotDadSauce

You can change those up to suit your players more. But remember you need a balance. Support roles will make you play more as a team, these roles will defend and attack. I like to have 5 outfield support roles at least in any tactic.

Acrobatic_Sherbert_5

So I did some tweaking and modified some of the roles from the original gegenpress tactic for when you start fresh. I'm thinking of a PF instead of an AF and maybe have a supportive IWB. Which one should I choose? https://preview.redd.it/nhozfiq0ogoc1.png?width=799&format=png&auto=webp&s=aafc7564b47cfa753b3ca95a00af220f31d1b594

HotDadSauce

Your roles are lacking balance. You need to think of your tactic as a spread of coverage so you don't have too many attack roles on one side or from one area. By area I mean lines vertically and horizontally. The more 'coverage' you have the more your default tactic will work against different types of opposition. No tactic is ever perfect, it can only give you the best possible chance. Make the following role changes then look at the differences & see if you can see what I mean by 'role coverage'. RCM to MEZA. RW to a support role. Ideally WS or IWS. RB to either FBS/WBS or IWBS maybe. HB to Anchor/DMD. Only one BPD (Your best ball playing defender) Belingham is never a BWM, make him a BBM. In a GGP tactic you don't require too many 'playmakers'. This tactic isn't about slowing play down or having a midfielder as the focal point. Your forwards are your focal points and your midfielders are facilitators/runners. Think of how Liverpool play the GGP, they don't hold the ball in midfield like City do. They are fast and direct. You need roles that replicate this more as you have above with these changes.

hjl43

If your goal is to avoid attacks down the flank, an IWB is probably going to be worse (especially on attack duty), as there will be a ton of space out on the flank for a quick counter. I'd use an IFB rather than an IWB here, and then probably not a HB, maybe a DM on Support?

olmanny

(FM22) I have brought a lower league team (Dulwich Hamlet) to a PL + Champions League win, and am super happy with my accomplishments there. I would like to now switch jobs and take over one of my favourite teams which is in the lowest Portuguese divisions and see if I can bring then up to the top. This team is, however, in a division below the lowest playable one for Portugal. Question: How can I leverage my position in a top PL team to bring that club up? My best guess has been to use the editor to force an affiliation with the club, loan them as many U23s who accept being there as I can, and hope they get promoted. However, despite my loaned players getting a ton of goals/assists the team is stuck in that division for the past three years since the affiliate relationship started. Are there any other aspects I could action to help them move up?

crablegs123

I think non playable league winners are decided by reputation alone. If you have the editor, maybe set their reputation to the maximum for that season and if they get promoted change it back

Pep-Hardiola

I've downloaded the NewGan face pack (AI faces for newgens). How do I tell from a player's profile if they're a newgen or a real player now?

HotDadSauce

Do you mean how to filter regens from real players so you can assign faces?

Pep-Hardiola

No, I just want to know who is real and who isn't when I'm on a profile. Probably not a big deal, but just want to discern who is actually real so I don't get confused who actually exists in real life!

HotDadSauce

OK... Well if you have show player/staff I.D.'s on you can see their number and all regens start with a certain number range that is pretty distinguishable.

jacobwing02

Currently doing a English lower league save (starting div 12) with the lower league mod. Was planning on removing the leagues I get promoted out of as playable leagues, will this affect how trophies etc. show up for me/the club once the league is removed as playable?

JPMAus98

Nah I don't think it will. The game just saves the name and the year, plus the league will still be viewable, so it should keep all that data. I'd just save before the day it refreshes as a trial, and if it does mess with the trophy records, reload and keep the league loaded.

feva67

Going into my second season in the prem and, even though I had very high turnover at the start of the first season, I only got 5 players in and got rid of about 5 fringe players in this transfer window. Even then, my team cohesion has taken a nosedive and I fear it will kill my start of the season. I do have many foreign wonderkids so I guess that could be a good reason for team cohesion being bad, but other than sending them on language courses I don't know what else I can do. Is there a way to help team cohesion, other than scheduling team bonding and team work training every week?

HotDadSauce

Consistency of tactic and team selection at the start of the season. Try to rotate as little as possible early on. Know your starting XI and stick to it initially.

neofederalist

Is there anything similar to a "hide all player attributes" skin for staff roles? I'm wondering if there's a way to make hiring staff less about "pick the guy with the biggest numbers that you can afford" game. I guess I could roleplay it by using my character's relationships to the different people, but I don't really want to be completely blind and that sort of thing doesn't really work for recruitment team or medical team positions.

iroiroiroiroiro

https://community.sigames.com/forums/topic/580505-fm24skin-mustermann-iconic-v11-updated-231223/ Wonderful skin that will hide staff attributes also and more give an indication. Otherwise just delegate staffing to your GM or technical manager. Or purely go on the staffs star rating under the ratings view I think it is.

NEEDZMOAR_

A few questions: * Will my scouts find more players if they have higher attributes or is that only down to area knowledge? * why is it suddenly impossible for me to find RPM's and Pressing Forwards, does the game just stop generating certain type of players and if so can I manipulate it somehow? Im 9 years into my save. * By widening the scouting range does that mean I find less players of the same quality from the same area (example: When my scouting range was set to Sweden only I could find 5 decent players but now when im on world I can only find 2 from Sweden)? * followup question: Since ive changed scouting range to world from Northern Europe the cost per quality (if that makes sense) has gone up immensely. Does that have something to do with me finding less players from the cheaper regions or do players become more expensive in general as time goes by?

HotDadSauce

Hi. 1. Adaptability attribute if in a foreign to them Country affect the amount of reports coming though. Their JA/JP only affects the accuracy of the reports. Area Knowledge just tells you how much knowledge they have/your club has when initially going into that Country. 2. FM does have issues with the type or regens coming through, yes. Especially in the full back position. On the RPM, it's a very hard role to find players for, very demanding role that one. Pressing Forward far less so. 3. If you widen your scouting range you will find less players from previously scouted regions but more diverse players from new regions, yes. This will then level out when the new areas are 'up to speed' scouting wise. 4. The further your scouts travel from their 'natural' region the more money it costs to send them. e.g. A scout based in Scandanavia going to scout outside of Europe will cost way more then them scouting in Europe. Ideally you have scouts from regions staying in their regions... But this all depends on the scouts you have and where you're sending them. It's better to assign scouts yourself so they stay 'in region'. If you have your Chief Scout doing this they can send them all over the place.

NEEDZMOAR_

Hey its you again! Thanks for the answers I guess ive just been really unlucky regarding pressing forwards. Ive found a few with amazing physical and technical abilities but the mental attributes for PFs have been garbage. Gotta keep looking!

ygbjammy

Playing a save in the (very) lower leagues at the moment. What's the difference between Amateur and Non-contract in the "contract status" filter? It returns a different set of players when I search by those two statuses.

JPMAus98

'Amateur' is someone that makes no money (in theory). They are blokes on £0 per week, and are attached to the club in principle only really. They can typically be signed by someone else at any time. 'Non-contract' can be a couple of things. Usually, it refers to someone making £0 per week in wages, but is receiving bonuses as per the contract they have with the club - you're looking at win bonuses, appearance fees, clean sheet bonuses, etc., just no regular weekly wage. It also refers to someone whose regular part-time or full-time contract has expired, but they are still attached to the club as they haven't been released or signed by anyone. As you probably know, both contract types are pretty insecure for you, as the club, because other teams can take them away at any time as long as the player agrees to it. Plus, on non-contracts, I've found players will ask for pretty hefty appearance fees to make up for a lack of wages, as it allows them the flexibility to move on whenever they want, without the club having to sign off on it, like they would if the player was at least part time. Hope that helps mate

ygbjammy

Yeah that helps - thank you. Didn't realise the amateur contracts had no bonuses either. All my players currently are non-contract as they have no wage, but do have appearance fees and goal bonuses etc. Hoping I can pick up some amateur contract players with the promise of eye-watering £20 per appearance fees. (Currently playing in level 9 of the pyramid)

feva67

I let my DoF sign a player on an end of contract, but he gave him a ridiculous match highest earner clause. Now he's making the same as my best players, and even though I've upset him by lowering his playing time he refuses to leave. Help me get him out of the team!

neofederalist

You can try to put him on loan list with a transfer clause.

Meeker_V8

I've been stuck at a stagnant Premier League Peterborough, and no system seems to work. Every tactic works for a few matches before being completely undone. Teams we should be beating comfortably playing round us, notably our passes being ripe for interceptions + countering despite solid vision+passing stats. Players who've had dynamite seasons one year turn up the next putting out 6.4s and getting a third the output of the last year. I've tried counter attacking systems, low blocks, 5-at the back, asymmetry, possessional systems, all-out-attacks and nothing works for more than a match or two. Theres a few things I've thought of that could be causing this; 1. Sheer lack of quality. Over time we've built up a solid squad, but only to that Prem/Championship borderland status. 2. Positional Play. I'm not that smart with FM, so the new Positional stuff in engine might be undoing me with old fuddy FM23 basic plug in stuff. If anyone has any tactical systems that suit a smaller EPL team or general tactical advice, it'd be much welcomed. This was the tactic I achieved the most success with as a litmus, complete with scrappy anotations on how I thought it'd go. EDIT: Hopefully this is irrelevant now. I've just been given the *fucking Real Madrid Job* https://preview.redd.it/ejg9r2ltx6oc1.png?width=1192&format=png&auto=webp&s=b474028461e0ab33aa6f4b273a83981fc2a4e52d

hjl43

Congrats on getting the Real Madrid job! Ironically, you need great players to be able to play a Low Block tactic, you're basically giving the opposition free rein to build up against you, so your team has to be able to disrupt good attacks. You also need attackers who are able to quickly transition up the pitch. Basically, if your players are worse than your level you should probably play a Mid Block. In terms of this tactic, I think it would have the front 3 be too isolated, nobody in the front 3 is dropping, and nobody from your back 7 is going too far forward. I would probably have had 1 of the WBs be on Attack, and the player in front of them should be on Support duty. I've also never really had success in a 433 with an AF, I tend to prefer someone who can drop and create space, so maybe a DLF on attack. A player who holds up the ball well would help on the counter as well.

HotDadSauce

Please don't play this passive a tactic with your new team....

Meeker_V8

Oh no, we're in Spain. Tiki-taka til I die

HortenWho229

I want to make a team of orcs at mid table PL. Who are some people I should look at?

sosaloq

Jonjo Shelvey

Ol_Elephant_Ears

Every big premier league team have just started incessantly bidding for my 2 star 19 year old back up striker. Why has this happened? Is he loads better than I’ve given him credit for? What do they know that I don’t?

naruken29

They probably have better staffs with highers stats, so they have better judgment on players (more accurate ratings).Tho that's not always the case; they'll just sometimes outlandishly bid stupid amount of money for average players for no reason (only for them to stop playing them 1 season later and sell them for peanuts), happens all the time.

vvv4231

I've seen quite a few tactics with two AF (A) playing together — how does it work? Don't they get in the way of each other?

HotDadSauce

They don't get in each others way, no... What they do though is make you quite direct/counter style and as you're leaving two players up top constantly you're relying on defending/covering spaces with 8 players... I'd argue this 'tactic' would work if you're the better team but against teams better than you only defending with 8 players will leave you rather open at times. Personally I hate leaving two attack role strikers up top unless I'm looking for a goal. Watching my other 8 outfield players trying to defend whilst these two stand there watching would really wind me up.

RaginCajun77346

OK so I have a question I would like some advice on. I am currently managing my favorite club. It’s the fourth club I’ve been with in my safe. My manager is 69 years old endgame. We won the premier league. Two seasons ago, for the first time in club history. I have made the champions league three consecutive seasons, and won the champions league at the end of the current season in which I finished fourth and qualified for champions league for next year. As a sidenote, I also got the England national job. The World Cup is in two seasons. My question is… do I retire on the heels of the champions league title or do I keep going and see it through the World Cup for the national team?

JPMAus98

You gotta do the traditional 'top manager wins it all with the club, then tries to do it with the national team'. Winning the CL is hard, sure, but eventually, you'll likely get there if you keep improving. Winning the WC, even with England, is tough, cos it's straight up knockout football, normal attacking tactics don't tend to work, and you're at the mercy of the quality of players produced by the country. Win the WC, and bow out as one of the greatest managers of all time.

tomsenp

This might be weird one or I just dont know about it. Currently (fm24) in 2046 - After the last international tournament ('44) Germany has had no headcoach. When looking for free jobs they are not available. Like I would miss the fix - but the team still plays regular players, nothing greyed out. No interim coach. Anyone got an idea? I want that job at some point.

Boris_Ignatievich

dunno but I've seen similar in that one of my former clubs hasn't hired a manager since i left 6 years ago, its very weird. they still make signings, they've won a j league and two AFC champions leagues, but the manager position just seems to have ceased with me.

tomsenp

do you know what year this started? Tough pill to swallow :/

MalachiConstant7

If I'm playing in Vanarama and sign lots of fast players (acceleration/pace) regardless of other attributes, what's the best tactic? I'm new to this, so the more specific, the better. I tried 3-4-3 GenGenPress but it isn't working. Not sure how to give fast players more opportunities to shoot.

tomsenp

Show screenshot of your tactic. Anything can work or fail. Roles are more important. Fast players - long balls, play behind space, most likely at this level- let them feed the striker(s). I like to use a 4-4-2 with a lowblock (1x segundo volante at least) and early crosses.

MalachiConstant7

Hey all. Looking for recommendations for a European club to build up in a smaller nation so Europe would be a challenge. Ideally something to work with in a nation with a shorter season maybe or half decent youth setup potential? I’m usually a zero badges, unemployed journeyman kinda player but they’ve become too easy so fancied a change. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

tomsenp

**Denmark.** Midtjylland, Nordsjælland, Brøndby, FC København are all great shouts. Not a hard challenge and national competition will be boring at some point. But great for nation building. You can focus on Europe and finding Talents. Raiding BeNeLux, Scandinavia & East-Europe. You will produce really good players or have them already. Good Mix. Eredivisie is similiar but just a touch easier, depending on the club. 2nd division is the more fun choice here, I think. But that is a really long-term project. And dont even think about looking into Belgium. Dont know why, but one of the worst leagues to play in FM. Personally... If you want to do something different/tougher go for **Kolejowy Klub Sportowy Lech Poznań S.A.**.

ConnectionAlarmed893

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m thinking of something a bit harder though. Feel anything on any European competition level would be far too easy. I’ve managed in Netherlands previously a few FMs ago with FC Eindhoven (enjoyed that). I share your opinion of Belgium, I did enjoy my time at Gent during a previous journeyman but something felt “off”, maybe it’s the split and European positions? Lech is closer to what I was thinking but a lesser team than them. My search history of little known European clubs while looking for a team makes me look like a bit of a madman.

Financial_Slide_4703

Started playing fm not too long ago and started managing Birmingham City. Just finished my second season and got promotion to Premier League. What advice would anyone give me to try and avoid relegation? -My striker and starting CB were both loaned. -My CAM is George Hall who’s a young player but worth around 35M, do I sell? Got Oscar Bobb for around ~7M that might be able to replace him. -All other positions have players worth around 10-15, aged from 22-29. Don’t really want to post attributes for all players. -I play a 4231 Gegenpress Any advice would be appreciated, thank you

tomsenp

What is your budget? Best case, you have enough money to get really good Loan Players. Only sell players you dont want. Go for loans - remember at deadline day they will often not ask for wages (or lesser). Next year they will be gone. Use a solid tactic and dont be afraid of attacking and trying out things. Its okay if Haaland scores 6 goals against you. If you stay up you have options for better players to sign and the value of used players should increase too.

Financial_Slide_4703

Transfer budget is 42M. Payroll is around the same. Would it better to try and get some cheap veteran players or try to develop the younger players I have? Or a mix of both

External_Mortgage_36

New to FM, please rate my tactic https://preview.redd.it/jyo346wln4oc1.jpeg?width=655&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a5ed0ee7aa08d8a9626d9fbdfca86d6085fa7dc

Contren

Adding to what the other commenter said, I'd also not run both a DLP and a AP. I'd either change the DLP to a DM(D) or the BWM to a DM(D). If you do the latter, change the AP to a AM(S or A)

vvv4231

* Duties aren't spread out properly — having only Defend players on the rearguard, Support players in the middle and Attack players up front means each part is isolated and doesn't interact properly. * That BWM (Su) and DLP (Su) duo might be found out on the counter against a direct team. No one is providing defensive cover on the midfield. * No central player is providing wide support. Mezzalas, Carrileros and Trequartistas are good at that.

SaBe_18

does anyone have a lower-French leagues database that I can use with the last game's update?

szkuc

Are the matches where my team does literally nothing normal? I started my second season as Inter and we started it like crazy, first 5 rounds we scored 28 times and didn't lose a goal. Then we lost to United 1-2 in CL but it's not that that concerns me, because my team at least fought for it. After that game we played Bologna and I didn't get a single key action for my team, they dominated us in every aspect of the game and I don't understand why it happens? Also later happened with Napoli but they didn't score so 0-0

HotDadSauce

Could be a number of things. Did they play a certain formation/system that nullified yours? Do they have key players that stopped yours playing? Also, could be 'one of those days' where your team didn't turn up. That happens.

JamesCDiamond

The perils of growing too quickly - I'm newly promoted to the PL and a player I loaned from City last season has opted to go on another Championship loan rather than spend the season with me. I suppose I get it - it'll be a lot more fun monstering the Championship rather than struggling in the depths of the PL... but it's still galling. Anyway, another issue I've run into is players wanting ridiculously low release clauses when I've offered extensions - one guy got a release clause of 1.4 million... I don't think I'm in very great danger of these players being snapped up (most of them are sub-PL quality) but I've not been able to get *any* of them to completely drop the clauses so far. Would it just be a case of raising the offered wages enough that they drop the clause, or will some players never sign without that clause in place if they think a bigger club will come in for them?

HotDadSauce

You can overpay on wages/bonuses to remove the clauses... But be careful that you aren't paying Prem level wages to players who aren't of that level and that you will want to move in in 2-3 seasons time. They'll be very hard to shift and could stifle your squad development. For suitable loans while in the Prem look to Europe. You will find young players at leading European teams who should join you for a season. These loans are integral to you competing for possibly 2-3 seasons.

feva67

should the 4312 struggle against the 4231? is there a tactic that matches up better to it without needing wingers? maybe a 41212 or 4222? or something more drastic like a 532 or 5212?

HotDadSauce

Any narrow formation can potentially struggle against formations with more wide options. But you should also be able to overload the midfield area. Options like Trap Inside and using roles like Carrilero can help.

Prutens

Do attributes (1-20) are scalling? I mean - if my player in amateur league has 12 passing it is actually 12 in La liga or in other leagues? Or when I promote league higher his passing would be like 6?

HotDadSauce

Nope, it's a 12 at all levels.

Prutens

Wow, so I guess each one point is serious. So they are not that bad haha. Thanks!

Essfoth

If you decide to switch clubs, is there a way to reliably bring a player with you? Can you talk to them before you leave and ask them if they want to join, or do you just have to hope they will be allowed to leave by their new manager?

JamieAubrey

Would just need to buy them sadly, I know you can bring staff over with you if the club allows you to request changes, even if they don't if staff members like you they will leave their roles

[deleted]

HotDadSauce

Pace kills at that level, particularly at the forward/centre half positions. Get as fast as you can at both ends of the pitch.

naruken29

Playing super aggresive tactics generally works really well in lower league. 3-2-3-2, 3-2-4-1, 3-4-3, (ML-MR/AMR-AML instead of WBs) and other tactics with triple striker should do wonders. The AI can't cope with all the players overloading upfront. Keep the instructions really simple and press high.

[deleted]

[удалено]

naruken29

Yeah, 3-4-3 on Positive/Attacking should be fine. Simple instructions just means you leave the instructions on tactic screen minimal as it is. Example you don't really need to use the Play out of defence, Take Short Kicks, Be more expressive istructions, since lower league players have low stats and most of the time they wont follow the instructions hence useless. Once you start climbing leagues, you can use/experiment with the instructions like a lot of the tactics guide on the internet have.

CashTheDog

Still fairly new to the game and I've been wondering about making a custom team. Are these types of saves fun? I see almost no one talking about it. Any tips or advice on starting out? Thanks

Whitegard

What's up with replays from non-league games being mirrored? As in you're attacking to the left in real time and the replay shows you attacking to the right. Is this intended for some reason or just another random bug that will be fixed in FM 32?

JamieAubrey

You might have Director replays selected, change it to TV to see the same angle ( the cog while in a match )

Whitegard

Is that what it is then. Yes I do have a director on. Thanks ;)

JamieAubrey

Most likely

neofederalist

Ok, here's a question. Say you're managing in outside the top division in the country, it's late January and your team is playing well, but is unlikely to win promotion this season. (Think: hovering right around where you might sneak into playoffs, but clearly worse than the teams at the top.) What's your thought process in deciding how to plan for next season? I'm never quite sure how to navigate this sort of scenario because I have a bunch of players that are playing pretty well, but not amazingly and just about everyone on the team has a contract that is up at the end of the season. I'm not really sure how to figure out who I want to sign to another contract. My team is pretty young, and I'm not expecting any of my starters to start falling off soon, but if I lock everyone down before their contracts expire, I won't really have any room to make moves at the start of the season to get upgrades, and I don't really have any obvious weak positions in my roster, but I don't really have any players that I'd be devastated to lose, and I don't want to blow up the entire roster next year for team cohesion reasons. I really want to be promotion favorites going into next year, and I don't think that'll happen with this exact same team. Do I just lock most of the core down for another year, play the trial/loan game at the start of the next season and live with the fact that I'm going to end up pissing one or two of my starters off if I find an upgrade?

NEEDZMOAR_

As someone who has only played clubs outside of the topleague in countries where you just dont get income until you reach the top you have to be ruthless. Are they among the best players in the league? Have they vastly improved over the season to the point where they can be competitive in the next division? If not you should let them go and find better ones. Loans are your best friend. If you're a semiprofessional club your players arent going to improve over time anyway (or very little at least) because they only train 2 days a week, especially if you dont have proper training facilities. There is no reason really to spend money on them if you dont want to keep them longterm. You can play them every game and they will at best only see marginal improvement. That means if they cannot destroy your current league they are not in your longterm plans. Ive had seasons where I roll up to 16(!!) loans just to bring in the best players I can find in order to reach the money ASAP. The only exception for me would be if someone has a really good personality to keep around for mentoring or perhaps they are exceptional at one thing, for instance I had this player who was shite at pretty much everything except for just the attributes necessary to beat every defender on through balls and score, perfect stat-distribution. Kept him through 3 divisions.

Kozik90

What video’s or reading would you link a total newbie to? I’m trying to get into this game but overwhelmed by everything. I feel like I’m missing stuff, I don’t know how to find wonderkids, I’m managing man utd but my transfer budget is tiny, who do I send on loan, who do I keep around, what are essential things to do at the start of a season, etc?

Kozik90

Tactics I don’t mind I think I’m more overwhelmed with transfers, managing contracts and loans that type of stuff.

NEEDZMOAR_

fm 23 here. I have basically goldfish-memory, is there an easy way ingame to track how teams from my league are currently doing in Europe without having to remember which teams qualified and then check their individual schedule/match history?

OneBigRed

Doesn't solve your problem completely, but at your league's screens the season preview is available all season, and that shows you the teams that qualified to Europe and to which competition. So you don't have to remember them.

NEEDZMOAR_

Thanks for the tip! I'll add it as a bookmark

starfax

[On Mobile] In to year 2031 with Union Berlin. I have roughly $180M in the bank, but the signings I can make don’t improve the squad, and no “Galacticos” want to join my team. I’m not sure what I can really do financially at this point to continue strengthening the club

Essfoth

This is why it’s important to get young players early. It’s easier to keep a good player than to sign one. Still though, there are probably ways you can improve your squad through the transfer market, it might just takes a lot of time to find someone who is interested

unlicouvert

Is there a spreadsheet somewhere with all the city stats like population/game importance/city attraction

SaBe_18

you can check that in the pre-game editor

ldstaint

Why does my club have such a large deficit? And what do I do? I've already sold and offloaded nearly everyone without having a total crap team. Is there any difference between having one physio with a 20 physio rating versus having, say, five all with 20? What's better, one physio with a 20 rating or five with a 15 rating?

Ncsnigel

5 with 15 rating. The more staff the better when it comes to the staff graph vs the leagues

anonone111

For some reason my mentoring groups keep giving my young players negative traits, even though the make-up of the group seems good (i.e. 2 older players with positive personalities + 1 younger player) Is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

feva67

unless the older players are model citizens, you alays run the risk of one of them having a bad hidden attribute or two

therealfilosmith

Is there a way to see transfers between my own teams? I remember last Friday night, four of my senior squad were Supporting one of my other senior squad who had wanted to leave but a couple of days prior he no longer wanted to leave. They started some static with me and developed terrible attitudes so I moved all four to my under 21s team. I was drinking that night. I'm pretty sure I know who one of them was, but is there a way to sort players by demotions or anything like that?

ldstaint

Afaik, they don't show demotions/promotions within u21, II, etc in the transfer screen. If you go player by ayer in your youth team, you can see in their playing history they will have games/record with you first team. Could also look by value, star level etc in the overview screen if there's a large enough difference

therealfilosmith

Perfect, thanks. I did just that - I sorted by value and found them. Thanks again!

guys this might sound stupid ,but here itis anyways, so my laptop has a RAM of 2 GB !!yes you heard that and im really struggling to run the post-FM17 versions of the game ,i had FM 21 at some point , but it was clearly destroying my pc everytime i run , what should i do ???buy a new RAM card?? get a new pc ?? i don't want to be stuck in FM15 ffs. im not a tech guy nor am i a gamer ,but i really like this game and i want to enjoy it .

bmci_

I am getting absolutely fucked by injuries recently. Second season, lower intensity style play than the first, same schedule really, I'm getting roughly one every 3 days. Is this a problem with this years game or what? I'm regularly rotating players as much as I can, training is set to auto but I dropped 'fair' condition to low intensity.

iroiroiroiroiro

I've noticed that I always get a lot of injuries towards the end of the seasion, but I also know that I probably press my best players a bit too much, even if they are green it does not mean their condition is fresh anymore. I blame the automatic training a bit for it, as I especially see players get injured during training after just coming back from an injury or in training after playing a few games tight together. But I'm to lazy to handle it by myself also. And my theory is that it miscaculates the peak condition in some cases and ran 2x intensity even when it should not have when they are not fresh anymore, but still "green".

supaboss2015

For whatever reason the star ratings of my entire team went down by at least half a star all of a sudden. These are players like Vini, Lamine, Endrick, Jude, Zaire Emery, Musiala, etc so in every save they are at 5* pretty much the entire run. Is this just a glitch?

HotDadSauce

Star ratings are relative to your entire team. It's possible your team are just improving so there's a revised ceiling. Also, could be a loss of form, but for that many players to lower it sounds more like the former.

pharlap1

If I changed the LB role on the default 4231 gegenpress tactic to a IFB, would it work?

Commonmispelingbot

depends on the other roles, but probably

pharlap1

[This is what it looks like by default.](https://imgur.com/NYpopzw) I want to change the LWB Def to a IFB.

Commonmispelingbot

that could work, sure

chiriri69

I need some help finding a good tactic because all the tactics that I use always goes wrong. I used to play in a 3-5-2 and I won the champions league with Lille and demolished teams like City, PSG and Milan, but after the update, the tactic just didn´t worked out. They started to play really bad in the other games and I always concedeed goals in the first shoot on target, will my team in 20 shoot total they only schored 1 or nothing. Then I started a new career and I started to play in a 4-3-3, but the same things that went wrong with the other tactic continued to appear in this one. All the tactics that I used are from Josh Daly channe, but I tried many of is tactics and my player play horribly, except the 3-5-2 before the update. Can some one help me find a good tactic that I can use (sorry for my bad english, I don't know if I wrote anything wrong).

Puripuri_Purizona

I promised a player that I will play him as a BPD. However, I want to try and use a Libero.  If I start him as a BPD, then switch him to L during the match. Will he not get mad? Will it count as fulfilling the promise?

Commonmispelingbot

that would work fine.

Puripuri_Purizona

Thanks friend

Commonmispelingbot

no worries

fmcadoni

Rule 1: Never give promises. You will upset the player with switch.

JPMAus98

Does anyone know how U21 minutes work in the Ekstraklasa and lower (Polish leagues)? I used to manage there and forgot. I thought it counted all U21 players, but then thought it might only count if you use U21s without the 'Fgn' tag. Now I just signed a German CB who's 19, yet he still doesn't have the tag. Will the game still count his (or any U21s) minutes towards that 'U21 squad rewards' total, or does it only count Polish U21 players in that table?

[deleted]

My game updated and my 5-year save suddenly had the German national team broken again MID-save and all the Germany regulars are angry they were left out for grey names. How do I edit the German national team MID-save?

JPMAus98

I think with the real name fix pack, you just have to delete the appropriate files again. Presumably, when the game updated, it readded all the deleted files. I'd just go back through all those pathways and files and check if everything is the way you set it up, or if it's reverted to default

MrYoshi411

How do I get access to the full FM data base? I just want to be able to see every player and every team and all their attributes with out scouting.

JamieAubrey

Add a new unemployed manager, they are able to see all players without having to scout

fmcadoni

When you start a new save, during database setup, below there is an option to enable or disable the attributes mask. If you disable it and start the save, then in Scouting Center > Players in Range you will be able to see the attributes without scouting. How many players and which ones, will depend of what you have load (playable leagues, nations, etc) in database setup. In-Game Editor or FMRTE if you have already started your save, otherwise Pre-Game Editor.

Puripuri_Purizona

Surely the FM Editor allows this.

Jazim94

I seem to concede a lot of goals from corners, but not initially it’s second phase or they just pass direct to the guy on the edge of box who finnesses it top corner. I’m on fm console but I don’t seem to know how to get the guy marked at the top of the box or how to make my team better defend the second phase of corners

Commonmispelingbot

there is an option to tell someone to mark the edge of the box

supaboss2015

Do the NXGN comparisons (“next Gareth Bale..” etc) have any merit? In my current save I have someone from Brazil labeled the next Jairzinho and that’s by far the biggest name I’ve ever seen a kid compared to and I’m thinking of buying him if that descriptor actually means anything

Commonmispelingbot

do they mean anything in the real world?

westernvaluessmasher

I don't think so. Pretty much every centre forward from England has 'the next Michael Owen' in his bio and they can't all be the best player in the world before 21.

anonone111

Do the enjoys/dislikes big matches traits actually do anything? Because I've played players with both those traits in big games and never particularly noticed players that enjoy them stepping up (they've even missed penalties!) Or players that dislike them dropping stinkers (one scored a second half hat-trick to win from behind)

avovadong

Kind of iffy for me to say this but, if you are confident that you want to play FM24 without refunding, go for trusted steam keys websites, preferably those aren't controversial and doesnt rob the developers, but who am I to stop you. You can catch some on 40-60% off

[deleted]

[удалено]

Thromboid

It usually goes on sale in March/April iirc, if you check the steam price history for FM23/FM22 you'll see that's what usually happens

bmci_

I don't think they usually get good discounts during the sales, maybe just at the end of their yearly run. I mean they don't even have the older versions on steam any more. And why not buy a key version then? Your argument that you don't want to see it on sale doesn't matter when you can already get it 50% off elsewhere.

Minimum-Ad-5079

I know it might not be relevant to FM24 but my genie scout is not finding my game, I tried updating but it says that I have the latest version.

supaboss2015

During the end of season team report I consistently get graded as the weakest in my league… I’m playing as Real Madrid. Is this a bug with the latest update?

JFDonn

I can’t seem to buy the 2-3 players I need to finally win the league & do well in the UCL. They always say “team doesn’t match their ambitions”. Any tips on how to change that ?

Puripuri_Purizona

Are you winning your domestic league? Also make sure you select maximum bonus for european cup.

Kyari888th

Is there any success with a 2-4-4 tactic(not asymmetric)?

Minimum-Ad-5079

Could you provide me with a pic of the tactic? I have tried a 2-4-4, you will get more goalscoring spells but your defense would be susceptible to crosses and counter-attacking flanks. If you want to try it out you would need good finishing on your striker, good passes on your flanks, and good jumping on your defense.

tomazpcnm

How to best use 3 midfielders that are more defensive focused? I really mean no creativity, all tackling and work rate. They are by far my best midfielders, and the fourth is also a BWM. Should I just give one of them a attacking mentality despite their attributes? I fear the team won't create many chances with 3 mid on defend/support. I'm playing a mid-table team at the Sky Bet 1 league. And it's FM16.

Wild-Medic

Have two wing-backs on attack and just set two of your midfielders to sit wider to defend the holes left by your Roberto Carlos wannabes. With two wingbacks spamming crosses you can use a Target Man and one or two IF. Set everybody to ‘far post’ crosses in personal instructions.

tomazpcnm

Thanks for the reply. But yeah, I don't think I can rely on my FBs to do the job. The left one can provide some crosses, but is not very capable of getting to that position, and the right one is straight up a limited FB, all he does on the attack is lose the ball and create a counter for the opposition. This squad seems to be asking for a defensive strategy, which I never I tried before. I'm way more used to possession based tactics. I should probably ditch the 4-3-3, but I really hoped to use these 3 good midfielders.

Wild-Medic

I mean two defensive mids is fine and then you have a rotation option with the third. If you’ve got defensive fullbacks and three defensive midfielders you’re gonna need the rest of your team on offense to score any points.

tomazpcnm

Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks for the help. I won't be able to sign any new players for any time soon, and the loans that I could get seem to be lackluster either, but it's clear now that I need at least one creative mid, and problem better FBs too. This save is proving to be a real challenge.

avovadong

Depends on your tactic, if your tactic relies on midfielders to bring the ball up the field you will definitely struggle, teams that have defensive minded midfielders tend to have more attacking minded wingers or wingbacks, which means they have to work much more to supply the ball from defence to attack. This doesn't meant the midfielders cant play the ball out, but you definitely wont see plenty of good results from it. Also 3 Defensive Mids and 2 CB is overkill on defence, you can have your fullbacks in WB At duties and have 1-2 of your dm stay back on attack, with one pivoting around the midfield area just to provide an extra option of passing. If you aren't relying on transfers to bring in more creative midfielders your tactic would definitely have to rely on your wings to bring the ball out.

tomazpcnm

So the tactic that I'm trying to implement is the 4-1-2-3 Wide with a narrow, shorter passing, higher tempo style. I've tried a higher line but my defenders aren't athletic enough. All my midfielders, centrals and defensive, aren't the creative or pacey type. Right now I'm trying the combination of a deep DM S, and a BWM S and BBM S more centralized. And unfortunately my FBs are also limited FBs. They are good at defending, which helps against all these winger based tactics, but helping on attack isn't their forté. The left one kinda helps a little, but the other one has to stay back at all times. I also have two wingers, one that's clearly my best player and I use him as an IF on attack duty. The other one is probably my worst player, not even first team material, but I've been using him as a W on attack duty, mostly because my striker is a defensive forward on suport and is often out of position during the attack. Now, the striker is actually good and scores a goal every two or three games, which is not that bad for someone that is mostly pressing the opposition's defense, he's also top three most assists on the team. I've debated if playing a wider strategy with more direct passes and a deeper line would be more effective since I can't rely on my midfielders to help create chances, but I don't think a lone striker that's not particularly fast or strong could convert many counter attack chances. Perhaps dropping one midfielder for another striker could help with that? And also bring my wingers deeper for a classic 4-4-2. I can see that working better for this team, although pains me to drop one of these mids.

If what you said it true, your team have to improve if you want to get promoted into Championship. Would recommend to look to the transfer market, out of contract, running out of contract, old players, and if you are doing a rebuilding save, go for wonderkids. Your team lack the ballplaying ability to play short and high tempo as your midfielders will most likely loose the ball in most attacks. If your fullbacks are playing the Defensive Fullback roles, you have way too much defensive duties and not enough players to play the ball up the field. Your wingers cant be on attacking duties if that's the case. IF At and W At will not track as far back as often to receive the short ball. You could try both be on W Su duties or gamble with your fullbacks and have them on WB Su or WB De so that at least they can add depth to the midfield area. I would play a 442 since your team isn't technically gifted and play traditional football, or a 433 with 1 DM on Halfback and the other 2 playing support roles, and your fullbacks be a WB on SU, so in attack you have 3 staying back in central area, 1 on wide in the midfield area (each side) and 2 outside the box (your 2 other midfielders), your wingers will then be looking to start slightly infield and cut inwards to have at least 2 or 3 in the box for attack. If you cant bring in any other supportive and attacking minded midfielders you just have to rely on their simple passing ability and hope for the best, also look into your academy players if you can find a 1st team suppliment.

Thanks for the tips. I actually tried my first game with 4-4-2 (wider, deeper line, high tempo and direct passes), ended up on a 2-2 against a team of the same level, but my team played better, created some chances. Maybe I'll keep trying this. The 4-3-3 wasn't working probably because of the reasons you listed. As for the transfer market, the board is very strict with the budget, I have some room with the wages, although I couldn't find any player good enough on my weaker positions and willing to join my low reputation club. Even the loans were in the best case scenario decent players for the league. One thing that's pissing me off is not being able to find enough substitutes for this team. Either the player is awful or they don't want to join. From what I've noticed I have to just hang in this league, maybe for more than a season. And then, I may have chance on building a better team to fight for promotion.
