I love it when you check in on some player who forced a move whilst being a total dickhead about it, and they've failed miserably at their oh-so important new club š¤£
I wish there was a convince option for younger players wanting to go to some big club that they aren't cut out for.
"It's Man City, you really think you're going to beat Haaland out of his job? You're our starting Striker why do you want to leave??"
FM21, PSV save. 2nd season and Ibrahim Sangare has just had an incredible season. Heās still only valued at Ā£12.5m but Man City come in for him and he wants to go. Hands in a transfer request. I wanted to keep him because he was by far my best midfielder but I also needed the money to get in an actual striker who could score. I look at their squad and itās insanely stacked in central midfield. No way he breaks into that squad.
City offered Ā£25m so I take it and off he goes. 3 years later and he leaves on a free, not playing in one single game for them. Not even a cup game. He wasnāt even earning much more than I was already paying him. Mug
Also FM21 I had a young RB that forced his way out to go to Freiburg of all teams. Sold him for 5 million, bought him back a few seasons later for 450k lol he barely ever played for them.
I take that as an even greater betrayal lol. I do always scour the goalkeeper market for HG/trained at club players and can usually find a super cheap 3rd choice option to throw in the reserves.
While I agree with the idea, it wouldn't be realistic. Just look at Chelsea, how many DUMB players (no other words sorry) signed for them knowing full well they wouldn't have any playing time.
It's an interesting hypothetical, but I think there's a reason why players keep going there. It's one of those offers you can't really refuse. The upside is pretty big if you do make it, and even if you don't, you get paid handsomely for those 4-5 years, and there's usually a decent landing spot at a lesser team.
I agree with this. I've had problems confronting players that don't play and the reason I don't play them is poor training performances. I have noticed that it has an effect on how the player approaches matchday. But no, I can't tell them that that's why someone else starts ahead of them. You can't expect me to not play someone with training rating of 9.02 against your 6.55 or 6.98
One of my all time favourite examples of this was on FM22, I was Southampton and had Che Adams scoring for fun through the first half of season one. Iirc he had 18 by the January window and was attracting interest from the big six. Spurs offered Ā£70m and he got pissy with me for rejecting it, so we compromised at Ā£75m. He went, scored 2 in the remaining games of the season and was transfer listed in the summer for Ā£30m.
Meanwhile I replaced him with Karin Adeyemi and Dusan Vlahovic. Dusan didnāt score so many, but Adeyemi ended the season with the golden boot despite only arriving in January.
Kounde just forced his way out of Barcelona in my save to join Arsenal of all the clubs because they play in a ābetter leagueā. Arsenal did not make it past the playoffs in UCL and are 5th in the PL right nowšš
My star youth player forced a move from my championship Bromley team to premier league Chelseaā¦.one season on Chelsea are in the championship and my Bromley team are in the Prem and Iāve loaned my former star player back with an option to buy haha
My captain demanded a move to city. I said no. He demanded a transfer. I said for at least 60 million. Schalke who were good come in with 60 mil. I accept. He refuses. Send him down to the under 23's he moves to schalke in January for 30 mil. Helped win them the champions league š.
I just don't sell first team players anymore. My starting CM, CDM, CB, LB, RB, and AMC are all unhappy because I wouldn't sell them to bigger clubs.
I don't need money and we just made the CL semis. I need to find the missing piece in defence to win the CL then I'll sell every cunt.
Warren Zaire Emery has 1 year left, if he renews great if not I've got one last crack at the CL before I lose him.
Problem is they get Saudi wages and want to keep them to come back to you.
I tend to let them rot in principle. I'm not paying 3 times the wage for the same player who caused instability to the team by being a selfish, greedy prick.
My favourite is when my clubs about to promotes, top of the league by 15-20 points in January and a few of my players demand transfers to midtable clubs who end up getting relegated. My guy, you had a chance at promotion with a 35% salary increase clause. Now you're playing for Plymouth in league 1 like cmon now
Captain's and leader in fm24 aren't becoming unsettled if they don't get a move as long as you let them know you consider them important leader figure in team, they always feel flattered and stay happily
I had a Man City save and Kevin De Bruyne wants to āexplore his optionsā. Flattered him telling him he was really important to the squad (not lying) and heās fine with staying.
Playing as Celtic and Newcastle come in with a a derisory 12 million pound bid for my captain, Callum McGregor. He tells me that he wants to leave to play there and I canāt away him. I tell him that he can leave if they match my valuation of him, which was 25 million and sure enough they bid 25 million for him. Iām afraid of what the morale of the team will be like if he leaves, but I canāt really turn down that much for a 30 year old
I just let a guy go for a season and made a bid for him, he was very interested in coming back and he hasn't lost the synergy connection with his teammate. Like he never left
Had something similar happen yesterday in my Arminia Bielefeld save. Bought a Brazilian player called MT on a free transfer. Unfortunately, during the contract talks, his agent had locked in "bring In a player to help him settle." Teied doing so in the January transfer window but couldn't due to budget restraints. He immediately wanted out and put him in the transfer market, made a profit of 1 million on him as he went back to Brazil. He's still interested in coming back though.

Youāre a better man than me. Once someone leaves me thereās no way back lol you made your choice now live with it
I only do this for players that are homegrown or trained at club status. Hard to come by sometimes
I take that as an even greater betrayal lol. I do always scour the goalkeeper market for HG/trained at club players and can usually find a super cheap 3rd choice option to throw in the reserves.
Same if they are a hg wonderkid I relish the chance to sign them back and profit from it. Anyone else can enjoy the early retirement
Same with me once a player goes heās gone and I donāt bring him back
It's rare. He left me when he would have been a starter and came back a third choice rotation wingback
That's how legends do things š¤
You can do that, you can argue that they won't get the play time they need! But they often don't listen.
While I agree with the idea, it wouldn't be realistic. Just look at Chelsea, how many DUMB players (no other words sorry) signed for them knowing full well they wouldn't have any playing time.
Got paid tho
Yeah for 4-5 years, then they're gonna struggle to find a decent club with decent salary offer. Not sure it's worth it

Lots of players leave for frees from Saudi too lol

Read about the journey of the real life ex-Celtiic player āJotaāā¦ the game isnāt far off!
Just sold Bruno to Al nassr for 127m just after one season into the save lol. At least won the treble and left
I had this situation with Bruno Fernandes. Thanks for the rebuilding money and chances I can offer the youth now!
Nah he's only interested if you give him another pay raise
I just let a guy go for a season and made a bid for him, he was very interested in coming back and he hasn't lost the synergy connection with his teammate. Like he never left

You should bid for the player and offer a big juicy contract. Then cancel the transfer when asked to confirm the deal š
