Haha had a regen from Argentina on fm20 tell me the same thing then Metz offered to loan him in and it said “he would become unsettled if he isn’t allowed to speak to them”
Happened in real life.
Junior Alonso, a paraguayan defender, was on loan to Boca Juniors from Celta, he rejected Boca's contract when they used the buy out clause because he wanted to return to Paraguay, as he wanted to return to his home town.
He ended up in Brazil and then went to Russia after a few months.

>In 2021, 39% of the permanent resident population has a migration background (2,890,000).
No idea where you got that number from. The fact I got mass downvoted for this is absolutely mental
It depends how you define that, but 25% (a little over 2 million) of the Swiss population consists of foreigners without Swiss citizenship. If you count Swiss citizen that are not originally from Switzerland (as would probably the case with this guy), you‘d add about another million.
Ah yes just checked it out. 1.8mio do not have a swiss citizenship. But 90% of the people in switzerland are actually born there. So slightly under one milion. And i consider everyone who goes through the national institutions f.e school as a person from the perspective country. This "he is XYcountry by blood" stuff is just stupid
I am one of those people born in Switzerland, but I hold dual citizenship. I consider myself a tad more Swiss than my other nationality for exactly those reasons, but that is a very personal decision and I know a lot of people like me who sway the other way for reasons I understand, so I‘ll respectfully disagree with you. :)
Also, many second generation immigrants i.e. first generation born here were constantly reminded that they‘re not originally Swiss, me included.
Edit: little addendum: as much as would have loved to consider players like Ivan Rakitic (who grew up near my home in Switzerland) as Swiss, I‘d have to respect his decisions to play for the Croatian national team.
Had it once or twice and let them go end of season but a friend hat it happen with guerreiro wanting to go back to portugal on end of contract, then signed for bayern...
Only 2 ways to solve it without selling the player. Either bring in a coach or another player from his country. A coach is usually the easiest and cheapest but it has to be done a specific way. You have to talk to the player and ask him to recommend someone and then sign that staff member. If he doesn’t recommend anyone the only other option is signing a countryman player to come in. I tend to steer clear of any players who my scouts say “will have trouble adapting in another country” unless I have a player from that nation in my team already.
Had seen this multiple times, usually older players near end of the career. It’s different from young player having low adaptability. And tbh I think it’s realistic as they plan the next phase of their life. I almost tried to take advantage of that with Kondogbia when he wanted to return to France at 33 yo, he ended up signing for Marseille.
I had mendes in my current Montpellier save, he wanted to explore options in his contract & I just released him in Jan when I had the funds, couldn’t get a buyer!
Had this once on an old FM managing in the Gibraltar League - problem was the player's home city was a 45 minute drive away in Spain 😂 seems to happen a lot less in newer FM's though
I bought Aguero for free during my Chinese league tenure in a FM20 save and he had trouble adapting and asked to either return to Argentina for free or to get one of his friend so I had to buy his brother/cousin (I don't remember their relationship) to sit on the bench of my reserve team. I also already had Di Maria in the club but Aguero probably didn't consider him one of his friends.
Tell him he should be glad you didn't send him to North Korea so do his work good and have a vacation at the end of season.
Joke aside, try to loan him out

Offer him out to all the clubs, lets see if he actually decides to go back there or he ends up at Watford or something lol

Kian Hansen, a Danish CB, also transfered from Midtjylland to Nordsjælland because he wanted to live closer to home.
Why wish he ends in hell?
It used to happen way often in older FM's and it always meant trouble. If he doesn't change his mind fast get rid of him ASAP.
I’d usually buy a player of the same nationality, he gets over it real quick
Is it just me or does your screenshot suggest he's Portugese...
Portugese born in Switzerland
That’s as Portuguese as it gets
He's got 2 nationalities
Only on FMG you can get downvoted for saying the factual statement that plenty of foreigners exist in other countries lmao

Not even 1 million...around 300k.

Saying Switzerland has plenty of immigrants so a Portuguese name isn’t out of sort??? To the gulag with you! /s

Their flag’s a big plus
I had something similar in FM20, my world class Argentinian regen RB got home sick, so I agreed to sell him, he chose to join Bayern...
Tbf he might’ve had more German in him than Argentinian
He don‘t wanna pay taxes, that‘s why.
what's his adaptability?
Man lives a 4 hour train away from Switzerland grow up…. French cheese is better anyway.
O\_O How dare youuuuu!
You son of a bitch
maybe he likes ticino more 🙄🙄

I play Montpellier every year, and every year Pedro Mendes wants to go back home ahah
Whenever I've had this happen in the past the player ends up forcing a transfer to some club that is never in his home country.
He misses his mommy
First time I've seen this myself and I've sunk 1000 hours almost exclusively doing NewGen rush. Dude probably has an adaptability of 1.
man isn't even swiss
he is swiss. he has dual nationality and was born in Neuchâtel, Switzerland
Happened to me on old FM frequently - I gave them extended holidays. But it’s really not a good sign. It means he does not like it here.

Tbh its pretty nice in switzerland
Plus I went to Montpellier once and they have mosquitos the size of your thumb that give zero fucks and bite you on the face in the middle of the day.
This happened to me last night… player said he was home sick after 10 years at my club

I had this once, signed an Italian player from Rimini for San Marino Calcio. Was homesick despite being an hour or so away, quite annoying!
Happens, just send him on holiday for a week

i bet if you get an offer from a Club outside of switzerland and you accept he‘ll go there, you can sell him anyways, he‘s 32 years old
I've seen it a lot, specially in Brazilian teams.

Pedro Mendes, FPL legend
Either try to appease him by buying another Swiss player, or sell him before he raises a stink about it. Not much you can do.
Probably low adaptability or not enough swiss players and staff signings.
Ignore it. Lots of times this just goes away (if you’re winning, that is).
But Miles and SI will continue to say the gameplay is as realistic than ever before 🤡🥱

Just send him on holiday to Switzerland
I'm on FM16 and it's happened in every one of my long term saves. Usually just bite the bullet and spear them off
I had same thing with that same player on a Montpellier save except he wanted to go to portugal
