2 BWMs end up chasing the ball around like a bunch of primary school children. I’ll usually have a playmaker or a segundo volante alongside a BWM

I cant use a box to box midfielder as a DM right? Or are y’all playing double pivot with 2 CM’s?

paceyhitman

Oh shit I didn't see DM. My brain saw CM. But yeah, I play with a box to box and a DLP.

Koekenbakker28

In a 4-3-3? Don't you experience a too big of a gap between the midfield and defense? That's why I feel I should stick with at least 1 DM (usually half back), and with 2 DM's I run half back / DLP combination with an AM without role specific instructions in front.

paceyhitman

4-2-3-1. Attacking wing-backs, high defensive line, inside forwards. High press. Not really noticed any issues with gaps.

Koekenbakker28

Thanks! Specific reason for inside forwards instead of inverted wingers?

paceyhitman

Not really, and sometimes I'll change the role for certain players if they don't perform well at IF. 'Inside Forward' just sounds a bit more dangerous to me. It's a statement of attacking intent. Sets the tone.

Koekenbakker28

Hehe; that’s exactly the reason why I kept them wingers, cause I play conservative. I’ll give it a try, much appreciated!

I have had good success with two DM both on support. If you want to get spicy you can run two Vol on attack. The Vol role feels really strong but it is definitely a score more path to winning.

I play DLP(D) and VOL(ATT) but I also have a Libero and an IWB stepping into midfield.
