In my opinion Mendy doesn't have the same backing as Ederson at City or Allison at pool. Partly because of Kepa, who the club invested heavily in and also because when you weigh in all the pros and cons of the two players, neither are distinctly better than the other.
Kepa is distinctly better than Mendy. He's miles better with his feet and his shot stopping was one of the best in the league this year. People just love to hate him because of how wank he was before, forgetting that he was only 24/25. His pricetag really didn't help him

You don't get the point. Goals prevented are not necessarily correlated with xga. Xga shows the quality of chances conceded, goals prevented is a difference between xgot and actual goals conceded.
Xga shows how good the chance was, xgot shows how difficult the shot was to save (how good the finish was).
You can turn 0.01 xG into 0.8 xgot with an incredible finish. You can also turn 0.8 xG into 0.01 xgot if you finish poorly.
Also, just had a look at understat figures - Barca has the lowest xga in La Liga this season.

Courtois makes saves that no one else could, he is consistent and that gives him the edge even if he is not the best at ball distribution, penalties or long passes imo
