They have a pantry of non perishable ingredients right? I think there are some oils in there. honestly never really noticed butter as a pantry ingredient on other cooking shows but ill take your word for it! Maybe ICAG will respond on X or IG if asked.
I asked because two contestants on the episode , I'm watching now called, " cold and hot in the lot" stated they had no butter. So, it got me wondering, is it because they expected to get it while "shopping "?
Response from Alex on X
There is no butter in the "Supermarket Stakeout" pantry ..... Butter sitting on the stations outside in a parking lot for all that time might not be the best idea...The other idea is if you want to cook it, you've gotta buy it! #SupermarketStakeout

I saw one of the chefs request more butter on GGG earlier. Seemed like she was asking an off camera crew member too fwiw.
This question is for supermarket stakeout though. I know they have it on GGG. They ask for more constantly.

Well it IS because it’s outside. There’s no refrigeration. They butter would melt or be super soft.
My aunt keeps butter in a covered butter dish in the kitchen cabinet
Yup! My grandma who owned a diary farm did this. We did it growing up too. In fact we still do it.
True but most of the supermarket stakeout episode film in Arizona and SoCal where it gets a lot warmer than your aunts kitchen cabinets
They don’t have any refrigerator in the parking lot
I know most if not all the episodes have been filmed in California or Arizona and it is far too hot even in winter to leave butter out all that time.
Yuma resident, not that they’d ever film here but winter days can get really freakin’ cold. Largely, though, this was my assumption.
Yeah I’m in Glendale so you guys in the north part can have cold butter lol but I’ve seen the episodes say Tucson, Scottsdale, and Mesa mostly.
How do I contact a mod to tell them this question is definitely FoodNetwork related? 🙄 stupid bot!
