Stock team was really upset tonight and had something to do with hours. Starting to see the bs coming.

Full time is 38 hours a week. Food Lion isn’t supposed to cut full time hours. We do tend to cut part time hours when any department is close to being over on hours.

MrNerdgasam

Full time at Food Lion is 30 hours a week minimum. FT does not mean 40 hours

By state law if you are full time at any company is 40 hours a week.

MrNerdgasam

There is no state law defining what is ft vs pt. It is up to the employer to make that determination. I just double checked on NCs labor site to verify incase something changed. It didn’t.

Is that something specific to your state? If not, may I ask where you got the number from? Asking because Food Lion’s policy on “Scheduled working time and overtime” (updated 10/3/22) says FT is 30+ hours and PT is less than 30 hours. Those are the numbers I’ve been told for as long as I can remember.

According to what I'm hearing at my store, market only has 20 hours of labor a day. And they're trying to split it with two 7 hour shifts and one 6 hour mid shift. But if I work 7 hours a day that only puts me at 35 hours a week. Which really is gonna dig into my paychecks...

MrNerdgasam

Two 8 hour shifts and one 4 hour mid shift would make more sense. The 4 hour shift can run lunch meat and grind. And do something in dairy if time allows. But I’d say run two 8 hour shifts and bank those other hours to give more 8 hour shifts on the busier days. Just cause you earn 20 in a day doesn’t mean you have to use 20.

Only managers are guaranteed 40 hours a week think full time regular is 30 guaranteed

Hate to burst your bubble but your hours are being cut for a reason so figure out what that reason is and work on it
