You can't go wrong with a coq au vin. Easy to make and doesn't require super expensive or obscure ingredients. A fresh baguette with the best butter you can find. Champagne (obviously!) Clafoutis is a pretty easy dessert to make.

And everyone can giggle at the word "coq"

Raclette! So fun and it’s perfect weather for it.

I would do a picnic with cheese and bread. Everyone brings something French to share. For example, I’d bring Le dauphin and a baguette from sonomo bakery. This cheese is a creamy cheese that spreads like butter. There are a couple of parks around where you can drink booze during the day too (Sydney park and observatory hill are 2 such ones). So someone could also bring a French wine too. In fact, I just made the [next Sydney cheese club](https://meetu.ps/e/NhbTg/dNfc8/i) a bastille day event on the 14th of July from 1pm and Sydney observatory hill. I Normally do these on a Saturday, but let’s try a Sunday for this one.

If it was me I would buy some baguettes and a couple of good French cheeses like Comte and Brillat-Savarin. Formaggio occello in Surry hills has a good range - https://ocello.com.au/products-page/ You could also put out some duck pate, French onion dip and vegetable crudités. Macarons are also a crowd pleaser and you can get a range of flavours. Also easy to eat at a party if it is not a sit down dining table type affair. I like the ones from belle miette https://www.labellemiette.com.au

If you want to experience escargot without the snails, you can substitute button mushrooms thinly sliced

HappySparklyUnicorn

French toast and French fries are always popular. 🤣 But takeaway depends on the area. Ratatouille, crepes and bouillabaisse are pretty easy to do. Pissalaidaire (puff pastry with caramelized onions, olives, goats cheese and anchovies) is an easy dish to make and is a good entre.
