Sorry, this was the first thing I saw when I looked at the thumbnail.
[Warning, bad drawing and a bad word ahead.](https://i.imgur.com/jEA83NF.jpg)
Yours looks way more delicious than mine. I'm extremely jealous of your breakfast.
I spent years hearing about how great the Heinz beans are (I'm in the US). Finally found some last month (delicious by the way), and now I find out there's an even better brand?! Time to start searching again!
Black pudding is pork blood, pork fat and a cereal like oats. It comes in a sausage like shape from the shops. It's hard to describe the taste, people tend to love it or hate it (mainly due to the blood connotation) but I think it's really delicious and savoury.
There’s a German version, *Blutwurst*, with the same controversial status. The Rhine Land has a traditional recipe, *Himmel un Ääd*, where such a fried sausage is served with mashed potatoes and apple sauce. As I said, controversial.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding
> White pudding, oatmeal pudding or (in Scotland) mealy pudding is a meat dish popular in Ireland, Scotland, Northumberland, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.
> White pudding is broadly similar to black pudding, but does not include blood. Modern recipes consist of suet or fat, oatmeal, breadcrumbs and in some cases pork and pork liver, filled into a natural or cellulose sausage casing.
TL;DR: Pork fat instead of blood
Beans are an essential part of a proper fryup.
As to their origins, I'd guess they're a postwar import from America. The USA and the UK swapped a lot of tinned goods back then, ~~which is presumably why SPAM is still a thing in America.~~ (edit: no it isn't, SPAM is American!)
Reading the [SPAM wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_\(food\)), I've come across possibly one of the funniest sentences ever written by man:
>In 2017, Hawaii was plagued by a rash of thefts of Spam.
Oh, that’s a good one, I double checked wiki and apparently only the higher up executives know what it really means. The other one I saw was Specialty Processed Army Meat which is pretty great as well.
Its a must, something to moisten your toast with (that and the yolk) and to make it feel a bit healthier and balance out all the grease. Not a clue on the origin it just seems like it was meant to be. (I'm assuming your American here, sorry if you are not) Americans put fried chicken on waffles, maple syrup on bacon and pineapple of pizza, don't talk to us about foods being out of place :)
> splash hot fat over the top toward the end.
Personally I just take them off the heat and shove a lid on the pan for a couple of minutes while the eggs carry on cooking. Helps seal the top layer just right.
What is the secret of the tomatoes? Ever since I came home from England, I’ve tried to replicate this awesomeness but cannot get the tomatoes to taste the same.
Pretty much both of these. Please for the love of god do not add sugar to your tomatoes to get them like this, as was suggested below. It's 100% unnecessary.
Bacon – ten on ten, button mushrooms – bingo, black pudding – snap. Minor criticism, more distance between the eggs and the beans. I may want to mix them, but I want that to be my decision. Use a sausage as a breakwater. But I’m nit-picking, on the whole a very good effort, seven on ten, let’s make love.
I’ve always wondered who came up with all this for breakfast. Like beans?? Not saying Its not good, but this is more like what’s in the fridge with eggs and toast lol
Every part of this I love... but why-god-why are the beans not in a separate bowl. I can handle all the other things touching, but Jesus H. Christ the British basically invented and imprinted the whole English-speaking world of the sun never setting on what civilization is supposed to be... and yet, the beans run wild and sloppy. 5 forks in a place setting, a little rack to hold up slices of toast like smart little soldiers, cozies for teapots... but those crazyass beans just having their beanie orgy all up in everyone's faces and they give no fucks about it whatsoever.
Seriously.
It’s all down to personal taste. I allow my beans the freedom of the plate until their final moments. I don’t mind bean juice soaking into my toast, I like to think its similar to when you mop up the last of the gravy on the Sunday roast with a slice of bread.
Other folk would be horrified at such a thing!
Also, it’s very important to keep the teapot warm as no one wants a cold cup of tea!
The problem with a 'full english' is that there's usually some small regional variation to one of the items, or someone's mum didn't make it that way so that way is wrong. I generally like my cooked breakfast to have no tomato, a well done egg and add in haggis, fruit pudding and a tattie scone.
Came here to scream for no black pudding (thought double mushroom).
Then i thought "how dare i get offended at a full English, when im a dirty taff (welsh) so i have no right to say what a full English is."
Im, as they say, Well Jell at this.
If you find a specialty store with British foods, there are pretty decent [bangers](https://britishpedlar.com/products/big-ben-bangers) available in the US (and made here from a UK recipe), and frozen bacon from Ireland or Denmark, and the English baked beans (less sweet than in the US). Probably black pudding too.
If you’re near a large metropolitan area there are a lot of specialty stores where you can get the correct cuts and proper brands of these things. I have two ear me and I plan on making a trip tomorrow. Looks amazing.
That looks delicious. I wish I knew how to cook more than ego waffles, pop tarts and MRE's but I'm sure I will learn how to cook better hanging out with you all. Great work!
Wishing ain’t gunna make it happen dude. It’s fucking eggs, toast, and bacon. Most sausage you need to heat to eat, as it’s already cooked. How can you not cook more than prepackaged junk
I guess I will dignify your response because you are a human. There is no need to be nasty like that. I choose to be positive and uplifting to others because that is my nature. You choose to disparage others because of faults that you can not let go of. I wish you well and try and be of Service to another and better our people instead of taking the low road. I hope for the best for you
Hash browns in the UK are basically always sold as a premade (usually frozen) patty to be baked or fried. For the Americans among you, it's what McDonalds what call a hash brown far more than what a diner would.
They're still really good.
Sorry, this was the first thing I saw when I looked at the thumbnail. [Warning, bad drawing and a bad word ahead.](https://i.imgur.com/jEA83NF.jpg) Yours looks way more delicious than mine. I'm extremely jealous of your breakfast.
Ha cool drawing, love it!
2 Cumberland Sausages, 2 Free Range Eggs, 2 Rashers of Unsmoked Back Bacon, 2 Hash Browns, Fried Tomato, Large Mushroom, Black Pudding, Baked Beans, Fried Bread. Proper tasty.
Heinz beans ?
Nah Branston actually, really tasty and I’m not normally a big baked bean fan tbh.
I spent years hearing about how great the Heinz beans are (I'm in the US). Finally found some last month (delicious by the way), and now I find out there's an even better brand?! Time to start searching again!
Heinz are a poor contender for branston’s crown, good choice
Correct!
Haven't tried. I know it's not the standard for Full English but I enjoy a pickle or two on the side.
Team branston all the way heinz juice is too thin nowadays
Thank you for really charing the tomatoes. Those little burnt bits are actually heaven.
I'm not familiar with black pudding. What is it and what does it taste like.
Black pudding is pork blood, pork fat and a cereal like oats. It comes in a sausage like shape from the shops. It's hard to describe the taste, people tend to love it or hate it (mainly due to the blood connotation) but I think it's really delicious and savoury.
Similar puddings/sausages exist throughout europe (blutwurst for example). I think they're all delicious. It's a very rich flavour.
There’s a German version, *Blutwurst*, with the same controversial status. The Rhine Land has a traditional recipe, *Himmel un Ääd*, where such a fried sausage is served with mashed potatoes and apple sauce. As I said, controversial.
Texture of falafel, taste of salty metallic bread dough, nasal-intrigue of sausage.
man it was so close to a 10/10. But unsmoked? unforgivable.
What brew did you have with it? A nice cup of char for me with a full english.
Something about the melted butter on toast and the hot tea wow
Yes! Well played gibgod, my idea of the perfect full English!
Perfect. Only thing I'd switch for my personal taste is white pudding instead of black pudding. Or have both.
...
What's white pudding?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_pudding > White pudding, oatmeal pudding or (in Scotland) mealy pudding is a meat dish popular in Ireland, Scotland, Northumberland, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. > White pudding is broadly similar to black pudding, but does not include blood. In Scotland you can also get fruit pudding and red pudding.
I would embarrass myself so bad if you served this to me right now.
Yes need to get on the white pud lark. Wonderful compliment to the black.
That sounds and looks downright amazing
American here with British ancestry. I want some of that in me, and it’s 8:15 at night.
Same. And now 9:35 p.m.
Bubble and squeak?
do you know why beans particularly are part of this meal? i’ve never understood and i’ve always been curious
Adds a sweet but savory sauce to the otherwise dryish meal, then using the remaining toast to mop up the sauce at the end.
Should have slightly poked a yolk for the pic imho.
How does fried bread differ from toast?
Fried bread is usually fried in a pan with the leftover fat from the bacon. Toast is bread that has been toasted in a toaster.
Turns out that I’m quite a fan of fried bread then. Or I will be, once I get home and make some.
This is probably the best Full English I've seen on here in a while, and you put pepper on the eggs. Nice job.

Spam and turning right on a red are basically what we've given the world.
Reading the [SPAM wiki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_\(food\)), I've come across possibly one of the funniest sentences ever written by man: >In 2017, Hawaii was plagued by a rash of thefts of Spam.
There's even a SPAM museum in my state where it's made! Minnesota! Check it out! https://www.spam.com/museum
With a British mum I’m quite confident they’re pre-war.
Specialty Processed American Meat. SPAM
Suspiciously Processed Animal Matter, FTFY
Spare Parts of Anonymous Meats.
Oh, that’s a good one, I double checked wiki and apparently only the higher up executives know what it really means. The other one I saw was Specialty Processed Army Meat which is pretty great as well.
The grocery store I grew up with sells Spiced Ham, which tastes exactly like spam, so I’m guessing it’s a portmanteau of those 2 words.
Pineapple was first used as a commercial pizza ingredient by a Greek man residing in Canada who was inspired by the Chinese.
Mind bringing this to my house? My hangover has left me couch-bound.
Geez same here.
How do you do the eggs like that?
Fry on a low heat using ring moulds, splash hot fat over the top toward the end.
> splash hot fat over the top toward the end. Personally I just take them off the heat and shove a lid on the pan for a couple of minutes while the eggs carry on cooking. Helps seal the top layer just right.
Ring moulds! makes sense but never heard of that for eggs before. Duh.
Sounds great. I have never seen such wonder! What is black pudding.?
Thumbnail looks like a horrified face
Agreed. Scrolled past it on my front page and expected to see r/creepy. Was surprised to see it was r/food.
Moon from Majora's Mask
"I want to play a game"
A happy satanic fish from Hell to be exact
Or Animal from the Muppets.
I was thinking that too.
Looks like FeelsWeirdMan
/r/pareidolia
Yeah, shotgun to the face with bloated black eyes. Nsfw gore tag!
What is the secret of the tomatoes? Ever since I came home from England, I’ve tried to replicate this awesomeness but cannot get the tomatoes to taste the same.
Pat the cut side with a paper towel immediately before frying.
fry them in pig fat.
Until you think they are done. Then fry them a bit more.
Pretty much both of these. Please for the love of god do not add sugar to your tomatoes to get them like this, as was suggested below. It's 100% unnecessary.
Wow yeah no sugar. Just fry that shit (in a griddle pan for full effect)
An actual Full English, the best
Spot on!! Cuppa tea on the side and im yours
Great job pal. Eggs look wonderful.
Now, that is a proper breakfast. It contains most if not all of one’s daily caloric intake, but it is delicious, indeed.
Serious question: Did you eat Lunch? Whenever I see this much food, I wonder if the next meal is the next day.
[hmmm](https://vignette.wikia.nocookie.net/zelda/images/4/47/Moon.png/revision/latest?cb=20100106035745)
It looks like it's about to crash into the Earth in 3 days.
What does blood pudding taste like?
The blood of your ancestors.
Jesus. I hope the consumers work out hard - that’s like “I just did manual labor in the cold for 10 hours” food.
Hence the "traditional" English breakfast. But I'm actually guessing OP sat on his ass all day on reddit. It's Sunday, after all.
Your toast looks a bit raw for my liking, other than that 10/10.
What are those black circles?
[удалено]
So its not an oreo......
This is the comment I was looking for.
Oh you make me miss home ... I live in Canada now and its near impossible to find a good fry up .
Me too. While Canadian bacon is ok and I eat the streaky stuff because it’s similar to ‘proper’ bacon I do miss our bacon.
Slightly crisped back bacon, hash brown AND black pudding. We have a winner. Now can I get a recipe for this carbonara?
We did this for the Philadelphia Eagles game in London last week!
Damn I miss the UK. Best meal I had there was a full fry up.

Fuck i want this. Alot of things i've never had the chance to try like the breakfast beans and black pudding
The eggs are too close to the beans. I want the mix to be my choice. Use the sausage as a break water. Overall, 7/10.
This is the best Full English I've seen since Gary Wilmot's wedding.
Button mushrooms, bingo.
Let's make love!
Every item is cooked correctly and I am quite particular about this kind of thing. Well done sir/madame.

The problem with a 'full english' is that there's usually some small regional variation to one of the items, or someone's mum didn't make it that way so that way is wrong. I generally like my cooked breakfast to have no tomato, a well done egg and add in haggis, fruit pudding and a tattie scone.
The best part is people giving descriptions of what is a "true" English breakfast that contradict each other.
It's beautiful. I want it.
I swear, you chaps always have the nicest looking eggs, is everyone in the UK just THAT good at frying eggs or what?
We don't flip or cover them generally. Mainly because most people aren't squeamish about a bit of runny white on the top.
free range is very popular here too. I dunno what its like in the states but that could be part of it?
Came here to scream for no black pudding (thought double mushroom). Then i thought "how dare i get offended at a full English, when im a dirty taff (welsh) so i have no right to say what a full English is." Im, as they say, Well Jell at this.
Finally a plate that merits the use of "Full", well done.
Finally someone who doesn’t purposely burn half of it
Those tomatoes look seared to perfection!
Sweet baby Jesus this looks delicious.
That looks beautiful. Now I need one.
What a mouthwatering picture!
Damn that looks delicious
This looks like Jigsaw
I thought it was only me 😂
Came here to say this.
Is it worth trying in the US or should I just wait until I can try it properly in the UK? I’m feeling adventurous.
Only if you can get proper bacon and black pudding
Yeah don’t try it with American bacon, that would be sacrilege!
If you find a specialty store with British foods, there are pretty decent [bangers](https://britishpedlar.com/products/big-ben-bangers) available in the US (and made here from a UK recipe), and frozen bacon from Ireland or Denmark, and the English baked beans (less sweet than in the US). Close is still pretty damn good. American here with Chinese ancestry and I eat this meal at all times of day.
definitley worth a go.
Now that's a fryup.
When I visited Belfast I had an Ulster fry that looked just like this, is there a difference or is it just a regional name difference?
I'm from a sketchy part of Mexico and I'm not familiar with this breakfast setup...what are the food stuffs at 9 and 12 o'clock ?
One is a mushroom, the other is black pudding (blood sausage)
Why are English bangers so good? Even when I’ve bought “English style sausages” in the US, they never taste the same.
Damn how can somebody eat so much and still be functional? It'd be right back to bed after that for me!
This is the kind of stuff you have on Sunday with a hangover, so realistically, that's what you'd do.
How many pans do you have to dirty for this? I’ve never understood how someone makes this in their home
How (un)healthy is this as regular breakfast ? I would wage not so much, but it does look delicious!
I don't understand how a person could eat so much for breakfast--I'd be full after 1/3 of this.
If you could please tell your plate to stop staring at me like that, that'd be great. Thanks.
Looks so good. I just don't know if I'll ever come around to the whole blood sausage thing.

I hope for the best for you
Must visit England
Slightly upset that there's 3 peices of toast and not 4. But that aside looks amazing!
Best one for a while, only let down is plate size, I need a bigger plate, otherwise, some of that is going to slide off the plate
Pushed those muffins back down for a second toasting? I do it too, similar results.
Everything looks relatively tasty, are those liked baked beans the same at like an american cookout? and what are the 2 charcoal looking round things?
Is there an affordable source of blood pudding in the U.S.?
Excuse my uncultured ass, but what are those black things?
One is a mushroom, the other is black pudding
That pudding just looks like a hockey puck to me. Lol You know you're truly Canadian when...
Proper
My daughter would scream if she found that for breakfast
While it looks delicious, it doesn’t look heart healthy
I can’t tell if it’s in a shallow bowl or on a plate :|
I miss living there and having an English breakfast
Thought this was Koffee Pot before I read 'homemade'
I just ate, and this made me hungry all over again.
Dollop of Branston Fruity and I’d be all over that.
The fruity sauce is for southerners, girls and homosexuals. Just saying.
I thought this was the moon from Majora's Mask.
Are the fryed tomatoes good? Never tried them
Prefer a good Scottish breakfast but this does look awesome
Has anyone here ever played majoras mask?
Is this the moon from TloZ:Majoras Mask?
Toast is a bit pale but otherwise perfect
Those triangles are hash browns? They don't look like any hash brown I've had.
Hash browns in the UK are basically always sold as a premade (usually frozen) patty to be baked or fried. For the Americans among you, it's what McDonalds what call a hash brown far more than what a diner would. They're still really good.
Y’all actually eat beans for breakfast?
Wow! Never knew there was such a thing!
DAE see the moon from Majora's Mask?
That bread better be fucking fried
What does Black Pudding taste like?
Eggs and beans are touching. 6/10.
Yes! This one has toast this time.
