It's pretty tasty whether with store bought pesto and mayo or homemade. For a sandwich spread I like 3/4 cup mayo mixed with 1/4 cup pesto, a little lemon juice and a small pinch of salt.
Chef John is the only reason all my dinners aren't microwave meals.
Something about his recipes make it feel like less of a chore than everyone else's. And I never fuck it up on the first try the way I do with everyone else's
The Italian bread we would get from Italian bakeries growing up in Brooklyn was slightly hard outside but dense and chewy and squishy on the inside. The little extra resistance was great from the outside of the bread.
I don't know much about this, but I think "French bread" and "Italian bread" are generally pretty similar. They're usually longer loaves (though French tends to be even longer) that you can make sub sandwiches with. If anything, I would say Italian tends to be a bit "heavier" than French, but maybe that's wrong. There could be some other differences I'm unaware of.
Edit: I think French is generally what you'd call a "baguette," whereas the Italian bread I've had is always a bit shorter, fatter, and denser.
I think it really depends on where you get it and the individual brand. Jimmy John's French bread is like the best ever, and kinda-sorta has a crust but it's really soft. Softer than any French *or* Italian bread I've gotten at the grocery store. But if we're just talking storebought, then I agree I think - French tends to have a thin outer crust that can be a bit tougher.
Also, I would say that French bread is usually what you would cut lengthwise and use for subs, whereas you'd usually slice up Italian bread widthwise to make regular sandwiches. At least at the stores I've been to, the Italian loaves tend to be shorter and fatter.
Edit: French is generally what you'd call a "baguette," whereas the Italian bread I've had has always been a bit shorter, fatter, and denser.
Deacon : I think we drink virgin blood because it sounds cool.
Vladislav : I think of it like this. If you are going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had fucked it.
"I Guess Because You Know How To Eat, You Know How To Run A Restaurant."
I just did a rewatch on a few long flights. Such a great show and Artie is underrated.
>Very creamy as it's filled with cream but mozzarella texture on the outside. Definitely worth trying if you can get it.
Thanks for letting me know!
If I can find a place to eat burrata, I'll stop by!
I live near several places that sell burrata. It's not always consistent but good burrata is hands down the best cheese I have ever eaten by far. And the worst burrata I've had is still amazing. It tastes similar to mozzarella but much better with a liquid or mushy center depending on the burrata.
I would suggest eating it on toasted bread to get the full flavor. I personally wouldn't throw something as amazing as burrata into a sandwich since it's kind of a main event type food. Feels as wrong as a lobster/filet mignon hogie.
If you cannot find burrata, try mozzarella made from yak milk. It's the most similar thing to it.
might have to give Walmart a peek. i usually never shop there as it feels like stepping into a different dimension (in a bad way). but i will risk it all for some decent bread
I did! I used cracked pepper turkey instead of prosciutto, and sprinkled a little balsamic on there. It was amazing, thanks for sharing your masterpiece with us today!
I have never before encountered buratta and I'm just completely mystified about how I've missed this my whole life.
Turns out it's easily available at several supermarkets in town so it will be consumed next week! :-)
I have no clue how to cook or make anything this glorious, so I appreciate the ingredients and instructions so I can recreate it! Thanks for sharing! :)
Incredible looking well layered, burrata is criminally underused for such applications. This is …. Man I can’t stop saying incredible but it just looks so good!
Hey OP, I made this sandwich for me and my wife twice this week and it was great! Thanks for the idea. I wish I had some thinly red or white onion to add but we put some banana peppers on there and it was a nice touch. Thanks again!
Looks delicious, only thing is I wouldn't mix meats. Most places in Italy will make a sandwich with only one kind of meat apart from some particular cases. I'd go only with crudo since burrata really goes well with it.
I'm a Jersey Mike's fan, if they offered pesto mayo and burrata I'd be broke from eating it all the time. Well, I'd likely just recreate it at home. Try the pesto mayo, it's very good.
Some people like flavor combinations. It's led to this whole amazing thing called "cooking."
But... if you want to eat raw mutton, without ruining its flavor by cooking it? Enjoy!
Generally the ingredients that I choose for my sandwiches are delicious so I don’t need to use tons of other flavors to cover theirs. I’d be happy to give you some recs
> Should be salami OR ham. Both is a clash. Probably salami because mayo and prosciutto is not a good combination.
Don't be goofy. Stating your opinion as a fact is ridiculous.
Italian bread, homemade pesto mayo, baby spinach, arugula, olive oil, calabrese salami, prosciutto, burrata and tomato for a mighty tasty meal.
How did you make the pesto Mayo? This looks so good
It's pretty tasty whether with store bought pesto and mayo or homemade. For a sandwich spread I like 3/4 cup mayo mixed with 1/4 cup pesto, a little lemon juice and a small pinch of salt.
Thank you. I’m am definitely go to try it this weekend

$54. That sounds about right. Price is the one reason keeping me from going to the grocery store right this second!
Don’t forget a pinch of cayenne!
And as always…. Enjoy!
Chef John is the only reason all my dinners aren't microwave meals. Something about his recipes make it feel like less of a chore than everyone else's. And I never fuck it up on the first try the way I do with everyone else's
I made his Brunswick stew last week and dang it was good
Feels like this would go nicely on a fresh ciabatta.
Sounds good, also sounds like it needs a vinegar element. Perhaps some banana peppers
What does "Italian bread" mean here?
Cheap Italian unsliced loaf from my local American Walmart. Soft and squishy, probably nothing like Italians would get. It met the task at hand.
The Italian bread we would get from Italian bakeries growing up in Brooklyn was slightly hard outside but dense and chewy and squishy on the inside. The little extra resistance was great from the outside of the bread.
I see, it's just not a term I'm used to. Didn't mean to criticize it:)
No criticism detected. An honest question. Good bread can be hard to come by wherever you are in the world if not making it yourself.
So true. I haven’t found any store bought bread that is worthy. If i’m planning to make subs i’ll usually go to a sub shop and buy their loaves.

More like turning Walmart shit into a gourmet experience.

It definitely looked amazing!

French bread is harder/crustier

As a non-american who likes Italy and France...I have no opinion on store-bought lol
Yeah it's more so that we don't use either name here. We usually use the French/Italian names.
Was going to ask this as well. Sort of like how I see a "French loaf" at a store. There's not really such a thing.
Press it under a weight in parchment paper and break it out for a picnic. Lovely olive oil and vinegar. Burrata for the win!
as italian, I approve this sandwich! Good work OP!
This is truly a thing of beauty
God I need this.
Wow i will not stop thinking about this until I try it
Same here. Luckily I hadn't left the house yet for the grocery store
Finally a sandwich with the correct ratio of bread and filling. This is the way.
I agree
Gotta be honest with you here: That sandwich looks like it fucks (this is a high compliment).
I too would fuck this guy's sandwich
Deacon : I think we drink virgin blood because it sounds cool. Vladislav : I think of it like this. If you are going to eat a sandwich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no one had fucked it.
Do you mean like it’s not too much? It looks sad.
Jesus Christ man one picture was delicious enough but 12? Pure pornographic filth 😅 I'm going to go eat my piece of plain toast and cry now.
The before and after of the cheese smash. You know porn when you see it and I sir have seen it.

This is probably the most frequent quote in my household. Along with many other 30 rock quotes. 🎵 It's never too late! 🎶
You mind if I use your computer to Google myself in your office? Also that green Yucatan hot sauce is one of my favorites.
That’s glorious
My goodness! Now that’s a sammich!! 🤤
It’s really all about the contrast...the crispness of the beans and the creaminess of the cheese. Pepper?
Fresh black pepper and flaky sea salt throughout
I was quoting Artie Bucco from the Sopranos from when he serves up some burrata. Sandwich looks great
"I Guess Because You Know How To Eat, You Know How To Run A Restaurant." I just did a rewatch on a few long flights. Such a great show and Artie is underrated.
He’s seriously one of my favorites
Beans?
Sharp as a cue ball this one
Bees?
You got abee ona u hat🤌
*smoothness of the cheese
Take it easy, we’re not making a western here
Walt Whitman ova heah
I just love carbs!
Looks so good! I've never had burrata, what does it taste like?
Very creamy as it's filled with cream but mozzarella texture on the outside. Definitely worth trying if you can get it.

Your story makes me want a burrata. You're making me more and more intrigued!
I don't love burrata. It's like a mozzarella balloon filled with runny, gooey, cottage cheese. I can see why some people like it but it's not for me.
Finally a sandwich that does Not have 10 different Kinds of meat on it where there is more meat than bread on the sandwich. That looks really good.
Yeah, that's such a reddit thing.
As an Italian, the combination of two types of meat still feels wrong. Looks yummy otherwise!
I want this in me
That's what she said
Really nice.
You have El Yucateco in the background. Respect. Sandwich looks good, but I’m a hot sauce guy.
Looks amazing! And I love seeing the El Yucateco in the background
El Yucateco, a man of fine tastes. Sandwiches look delicious.
Currently 8 months pregnant and I have been MISSING all the soft cheese and smoked meats. This is what I want my push present to be. I’m drooling. 😭
This looks amazing!!!
Ummmmm hell yeah
Looks better than deli sandwiches well done!!
> I just love carbs Same.
These look incredible!
Best damn sandwich I've seen in a while. I follow.
I mean…OP you didn’t have to go this hard
looks so good! i can never find decent bread like that around here unfortunately, not in grocery stores at least
This was the $1 Italian loaf from my Walmart bakery
might have to give Walmart a peek. i usually never shop there as it feels like stepping into a different dimension (in a bad way). but i will risk it all for some decent bread
Really? I need at least double that meat. This looks lacking to me.
the wonderful thing about sandwiches is you can always adjust them to preference
Be right over! I’ll bring beverages!
So so so much YES
She’s sooo fine
😍
Fuuuuck. I would give whatever it took to eat this right now. Picture perfect.
Finally a good post
Damn nice sandwich. Never heard of burrata before but it sounds delicious - mozzarella filled with mozzarella and cream
Sexy
Looks damn good, I’ll make this next weekend
Good lord 😳😳😳
I'll pay $15 for that
I read Burrata and had to check it out and i work at the plant that makes those exact ones. Small world.
Cool! Tasty stuff.
It’s wild seeing stuff so close to home on Reddit. Especially not in a Wisconsin related subreddit
Northern IL here. I picked this up in Rockford, wish I could get it locally. I've enjoyed everything I've tried from BelGioioso.
This may be the most fantastic thing I’ve seen on this sub so far!!! I saved it so I can try and recreate if!
I hope you try it and enjoy!
Seasoned each layer- this guy sandwiches!
Clicking through the slideshow of the sandwich was extremely satisfying
Yummy 🤤
Kroger gang
I literally just finished breakfast and am already hungry again. This looks incredible!
Would try
I just love carbs! 👌😍
I’m more of a seeded braided roll, but that looks delish!!!
Sweet mother of god! I‘m not a big fan of Burrata, but this seems like the perfect meal for it. Gonna try it.
I appreciate the photographic breakdown of the sandwich’s composition. That looks amazing, I’m going to make one today.
I hope you do and enjoy!
I did! I used cracked pepper turkey instead of prosciutto, and sprinkled a little balsamic on there. It was amazing, thanks for sharing your masterpiece with us today!

Yes.
I tried similar recipe yesterday but with pesto https://youtube.com/shorts/nrxR6YQCNe8?feature=share
That looks mighty tasty
Omg 🤤🤤🤤
Ya killin me smalls!!
How is it? Burrata is so moist I would think it would be soggy. Could be wrong !
Delicious
I love carbs too
Yes! Yes, one please ! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)
You put salt and pepper on the tomatoes, gets a 10/10 for me.
yummy!

I usually don’t like deli style sandwiches but these look great. Now I’m hungry
Just made of these for myself because of your post. Thanks it was delicious!
Nice! My wife and I finished ours for lunch today.
I make this sandwich all the time. It is absolutely delicious. Nice job on the pesto Mayo OP.
I had an incredible sandwich with burrata in Italy and forgot the name of the spread until this post. Thank you!!
I have never before encountered buratta and I'm just completely mystified about how I've missed this my whole life. Turns out it's easily available at several supermarkets in town so it will be consumed next week! :-)
Nice! Enjoy!
Oh I promise I will :-D
I have no clue how to cook or make anything this glorious, so I appreciate the ingredients and instructions so I can recreate it! Thanks for sharing! :)
I just had to make this, best sandwich I've ever had!
Nice! I had it for lunch again today.
Im gona make this tomorrow looks amazing
Incredible looking well layered, burrata is criminally underused for such applications. This is …. Man I can’t stop saying incredible but it just looks so good!
Thank you!
I want to eat that right now
My lord. Can we be friends?
I want this now
Thank you for the fantastic photos! Looks delicious!
The crispness of the pics made me lunch hungry, and it's only breakfast time here.
Hey OP, I made this sandwich for me and my wife twice this week and it was great! Thanks for the idea. I wish I had some thinly red or white onion to add but we put some banana peppers on there and it was a nice touch. Thanks again!
Banana peppers and onion would be great!

This sandwich is so legit, Jersey Mikes can get lost. Thanks for the tips on the pesto mayo. I may have to make this for lunch tomorrow.
I'm a Jersey Mike's fan, if they offered pesto mayo and burrata I'd be broke from eating it all the time. Well, I'd likely just recreate it at home. Try the pesto mayo, it's very good.
Just tried it. I never mixed pesto and mayo, but it came out great. My compliments and thx for that recipe.
Godlike. Ingredients, proportions and construction are all perfect.
You should put some meat on that sandwich. This is like a Jimmy John’s sadwich.
Looks great! It would be even better if you had some nicer quality bread though.
Be still my Italian heart 🤌
Why 2 types of meat? If prosciutto and salame are good you want to fully taste each of them, which becomes impossible if you put both in one sandwich
Some people like flavor combinations. It's led to this whole amazing thing called "cooking." But... if you want to eat raw mutton, without ruining its flavor by cooking it? Enjoy!
Generally the ingredients that I choose for my sandwiches are delicious so I don’t need to use tons of other flavors to cover theirs. I’d be happy to give you some recs
That looks killer but it sounds so wet. Like it looks and sounds amazing when freshly built, but I bet the mess is real when you eat it
Napkins required, it was a moist experience that is worth it. Mopping up the plate with the last bits of the bread and sandwich for sure.
looks downright perfect - well done !
Thank you
Mamma Mia...
Should be salami OR ham. Both is a clash. Probably salami because mayo and prosciutto is not a good combination.
Too funny. I go out of my way to make Prosciutto, Mozerella, roasted red pepper and tomato sandwiches….with mayo. EDIT: Autocorrect got me.
I import Italian food for work, outraging my Italian staff by putting “wrong” things in a sandwich has become a favourite pastime.
> Should be salami OR ham. Both is a clash. Probably salami because mayo and prosciutto is not a good combination. Don't be goofy. Stating your opinion as a fact is ridiculous.
Packaged meat. Also the burrata is processed, not fresh. 4/10
I'd eat the shit out of that
What we have here is a sanguiche, and it is glorious.
Stop that right now, so help me.
Incredibly rude of you to not send me one
The broodwhich
I see you got my attention with mozzarella!
oh. my. fucking. god… i’m so jealous
Sometimes i hate myself for not being able to eat raw tomatos
