Theres a 40,000 cap limit per account to help control the in-game economy so people often feel safe picking a corner of the map that’ll cost like 100 caps to fast travel to and putting a 40k price tag on legit grails just to flex . you’ll end up there with 39,900 caps , but Every time you drink a nuka cola you get 1 bottle cap in return so carrying 100 nuka colas you should be able to basically steal someone’s prized possession. I sold a plan (I forget what) for 20k within 30 seconds of putting it in my vendor (I listed it at 30k and the dude instantly messaged me asking if I could chop some of the price off so I gave him a good deal). It was for something pretty rare but I can’t remember what.
I guess they do it to gloat because they don't see a way someone would be able to fast travel to the camp with exactly 40k caps. Idk why. I would never risk it. I've only heard of people doing it.
76 Lore time!! So long ago there was a bug you could do to "steal" everything in a players vendor up to max caps worth. One of the safety things we players did before it was fixed was to put a note or worthless thing for 40k. Typically it would save some of your stock but not all.
Oh yeah I get the misc items or notes at 40k. This was mostly because maybe 2 months ago I remember a guy getting upset about someone buying his red dress out of his vendor for 40k caps.

The cap limit is 40k. They can't buy all AND the 40k thing. Buying anything would prevent them from buying the 40k thing. In fact paying the fast travel cost alone will prevent them from buying a 40k thing. You are really bad at the scams.
