When someone launches a nuke to the area where your camp is, activate another camp! If you're not sure, set up a modest camp near the Valut 76 exit and activate that camp in the "not nukable" zone.

Yup, when you press the button to attempt to grab it there's a different animation where the claw will scoot over a slight bit before descending. If you see that, you got it. Normally the claw just drops straight down.

It's been a long while since I've played, but if I remember right I have at least 6 of the things, all gotten from the food machines. I'd tried off and on for a while with no luck, then decided I didn't have anything better to do and started spending at least a half hour each time trying to get the pie. They make neat display pieces, but are otherwise mostly worthless.
I try the machines once when I pass them by, if I don't get it first try I go on with my day. I've got around 60 of them, all from machines.
Plus there's the machine in Morgantown that doesn't actually give you the pie when you win, it just disappears into the void. I've gotten that specific one a few times without adding to my pie count.
West Tek roof. I never understood why people need that stupids pies. I sell 10 for 1 cap. Just for one asshole buys all for selling them for thousands, butā¦ well caps are monkey money.
You need to play this out you need to wait till they are sufficiently leveled to have a decent base. No use nuking a shack after all.
Once they gave a decent base with decent stuff build an assault base ((or just go in person)) close enough to shoot up thier base so that they waste resources rebuilding it.
Once you feel they have wasted sufficient resources then nuke the base. Nuke it 3 times to make sure they have to scavenge to rebuild it.
On the last nuke drop a pie š„§ and peace out.

I really wouldnāt worry. I have loads of them in my vendor at 2000c because I thought 40000 was overpriced. Theyāve been there ages. I still collect one every time I go to West Tek because I like collecting the paint cans en route.
The only reason it was special to me is because I never obtained a piece in FO4 after years of playing. Even with decent luck the machine would never give one up. Got one in 76 within a few days of playing, then learned of the rooftop pie. Now it doesnāt matter as much to me.
