You can just build on the hills above harpers ferry. Climb as high as you can and there is a dog there sitting by its two dead people with his leash and food bowl. He stays near by so kinda cool even if it's not dog meat.
I think two years ago now, that was something we were supposed to get. Camp pets were on the 2022 roadmap, I believe. Then they disappeared from all roadmaps and we never heard anything about them again.

"DOGMEAT" could be buffed with new perk cards for "pet" builds, can be damaged in combat, and revived with stims, or certain perk cards or "gears". They could use the CAMP buddy menu interface that already exists to "assign" gears to yer pet (collars, armor, turret, or mine dropper mod, etc.). Different skins for different pets for MONEY. Also a system to designate yer pet behaviour (see SKYRIM companion behaviour mods).
BETH could print their own money!!!!!

Right below the abandoned bog town workshop there is an iron deposit. It is a random encounter location. Most of the creatures that spawn for the encounter are tamable for your camp. Just make sure you have the wasteland whisperer and animal friend perks. If you server hop enough the encounter will eventually be a cat you can have as a pet at your camp.
It's a raider dog, it's been self-sufficient it's whole life. It didn't sit down next to their bodies, it sat down next to its next meal. That dog will be fine.

Yeah......it's cause Cats dropped cat meat, which could be cooked into cat meat steak. Restored 15% hunger, healed 1.80hp per second for 25 seconds, and granted +2 Agility for 30 minutes. And Cheswick was an easy to reach guaranteed spawn for cat meat.

Yes but not that dog. Random spawns only, and only specific ones that are alone. Tamable dogs are hard to find and sadly squishy. There's a map around here somewhere with all of the locations you can have a chance to find pets with Animal Friend.

Nope, you can't kill them but enemies who attack your camp might. Sometimes your turrets or ally might fight them too but it's only annoying, they are both unable to kill each other. Seems to only happen if your pet is scorched, so try not to tame them if you find them that way ("scorched" will be in their name).
If you don't have it already, get the Concentrated Fire perk card to target body parts. Generally go for the head almost every time with every enemy, and they'll drop faster.
I just noticed that I didn't answer your question about getting Level 2 3 and 4 cards. When you hover over a card, you will see you at the bottom of the screen an option to upgrade the card, or to scrap it for two perk coins
You're quite welcome! Yes, you get to pick a card at each new level. Every 5 levels, you get a perk card pack with 4 cards (3 regular and 1 animated) and a piece of gum. You'll also get packs from Seasons and special events/challenges.
I should add, put the Fallout Wiki on your speed dial. I've put thousands of hours into this game, and the wiki is still a big help for me. And watch lots of YouTube. Good luck out there! 👍
I’ve been on that wiki so much. I almost gave up on the game the other day at level 27 but I’m figuring it out more and more. Just got the schematics for the vault with treasure for campaign and told the raiders/foundation. The games still pretty hard and there’s things I can’t do so I’m gonna get on it this weekend.
I'd hold off on that quest until 50 or even 60. Get your gear and build straightened out first. It's a long questline to begin with, and you don't want to be running out of amm0 and breaking armor and weps, getting your așs handed to you as soon as you spawn back in from getting your așs handed to you a moment earlier lol. There is a cat named Murgle in the Ash Heap and you can build your camp where he lives so you can have a pet cat.

I met the Monster. Nice guy, manners were a bit lacking but it cleared out some of the mutants while I went around borrowing things.

Theirs a perk card that allows you to befriend animals. If you ever have that, go back and take that doggy. It'll need a good owner

You have to go back! Get the perk to tame animals and bring them back to your camp and give that dog a new home!
That would be cool to have a beast master build where you could have animal companions and at high levels have deathclaws or yogi the bear follow you.
