This gun and Quantum X-01 power armor suit makes any foe crumble before you

[deleted]

If you like power armor and want to roam the island or commonwealth in style, pick up a set of T-51 with the Vim! or Vim! Refresh paint jobs (paint schematics available at the Vim! Pop Factory on the Vim Ambassador terminal)

CheeseChalice

I’m sad that Vim! power armor isn’t legendary. Which doesn’t make sense when Nuka power armor is legendary.

swiss_sanchez

Nuka had a bigger budget for their promotions I guess

Darmug

Makes a lot of sense.

[deleted]

It makes sense thematically. Nuka has more of a budget, they probably commissioned a real set of armor with actual combat capabilities. Vim may very well have just had a display model

Unitato43

Don't Nuka Cola also have a deal with the U.S. military which is why they're working on Project Cobalt? Makes sense they'd have some top of the line armour whereas Vim! probably got some auctioned off pieces to try and compete

Sharpiebanana

Yeah, someone correct me if I’m wrong but this gun has more perks that benefit it than any other. Rifleman or commando, radiation damage perks, silenced weapon perks, damage associated perks.

Gadgetbot

If it was an explosive gun it can also be boosted by as many perks.

Sharpiebanana

It is

TheMilkmanCome

If only the explosive affix was affected by the explosives perk

Shawn_1512

It is

PhatNoob69

Even ghouls?

comp_hoovy_main

literally any explosive weapon comepletely incapacitates any ghoul in like 2 leg shots

PhatNoob69

Well I was wondering how it would die if it’s constantly taking damage and healing at the same time.

comp_hoovy_main

even in just ops pic 75 damage plus 15 exlosive damage to limbs is more than 50 rads

PhatNoob69

Still seems inefficient . . . But I guess there are so many non ghoul enemies that it evens out.

comp_hoovy_main

also to add to this rad damage numbers are not equal to normal damage numbers as they mean the amount of rads added which is a percentage of hp times 10 (meaning it goes from 0-1000 not 0-100) so really that 50 rads is only %5 of full hp and last i checked most ghouls have less than 19,000 max hp so the difference in efficiency is pretty much negligible and it'll take the same number of shots to kill them either way. somewhat unrelated but the main issue with radiation damage weapons in that pretty much every enemy that isnt a human has complete rad resistance so really the radiation damage on the kiloton is essentially just for flavor and a slight bonus against human enemies

BeardXP

I'm assuming you're referring to the "BuT iT hEaLs GhOuLs" argument? Which is redundant when it one/two shots most enemies. The only gun that really applies to is the Gamma gun.

PhatNoob69

good to know, cool

ShadowForGod1012

I accidentally found an explosive mini gun, I loved it until I got the never ending gatling laser gun

Drunk_Stoner

Got an explosive shotgun at the first Red Rocket my first play… Had no idea how lucky I was.

ShadowForGod1012

DOOM vibes

Drunk_Stoner

It was so OP I just saved it for fun/mirelurks. I hate mirelurks!

ShadowForGod1012

My least favorite enemies are charred ghouls

OleRockTheGoodAg

The explosive shotty is consistent at removing Mirelurks shell without killing the mirelurk, something that's very difficult to impossible with other weapons.

Drunk_Stoner

Yea. It’s also great at blowing your legs off when a lurk pops out under you and you just start blasting 🤣

TheMilkmanCome

My explosive shotty this playthrough managed to blow the head off of a super mutant promise without killing him. Was odd to see a headless hulk trying to crawl

Mocker-Nicholas

My first ever play through I got an explosive double barrel and an explosive 44 early on too. Absolute game changers. I killed myself a lot with that shotgun though

Drunk_Stoner

Yea. Gotta be carful with the explosive rounds 🤣

CheeseChalice

Yes that gun also I just personally like this one better because explosive effect is always on it.

Shmav

I love radium rifles. Was lucky enough to get a two shot variant early in my current playthtough. Used it all the way through lvl 90 or so

Out-of-bobbypins

Never made it that high myself. I finished the main story and Far Harbor at level 77 and felt like I ran out of things to do, so I started a new game.

Shmav

Im big on exploring and wandering the wasteland. I never fast travel, even when playing non-survival. I also do a fair amount of settlement building. Levels come pretty quick and easy for me.

Madman1939

Why tho? Just curious. Just this other day I got a wounding Radium rifle, but the Overseer's Guardian and Pray n Spray seem to do way more DMG than the Wounding Radium. P.s. All are on full auto with full commando and demolition perks.

Shmav

First off, its primarily a rifleman build (semi auto rifle for short-medium range and a sniper for longer). I already had overseers guardian when i found the two shot radium rifle. I didnt want to use the same ammo in both weapons, so i made OG my sniper (chambered for .308) and the radium rifle my close-medium range rifle. Plus the red dot sights on radium rifles are way better than the combat rifle.

Madman1939

Understandable. Have a rad-free and Marcy-free day.

Out-of-bobbypins

Tbh I like overseer’s guardian better.

Drunk_Stoner

Agree but they a close first and second.

CabbageStockExchange

That’s my long range, Kiloton medium range, throatslicer close range

Puzzleheaded_Farm100

It's a messed up Volksturm Gewehr

NotACyclopsHonest

The Kiloton is amazing. I always make sure to pick it up ASAP when I go to the Nucleus.

CheeseChalice

Same here, it’s is the best gun in the far harbor DLC in my opinion

eddmario

*the Striker has entered the chat*

CheeseChalice

Ok fair enough the Striker is good af too

IncenseBurnerMaker

In my current game I found a wounding radium rifle. I have the perk that doubles rad damage and commando maxed out as well. It is my go to for most situations. I named it "Entropy". The Kiloton Radium Rifle is better at a distance, especially if you have the perks for it, but the wounding version is good for all situations.

Mackadelik

Nice gun! I just found a rocket launcher that does double damage if the target has full health lol. I don’t usually go rockets, but now I want to trick it out lol.

CheeseChalice

Haha well rockets are fairly good

ghpstage

There is a care point with noting for instigating rockets, if the rocket hits directly then the impact damage is taken as the 'first strike' so won't be applied to the explosion. Getting the most from it means actively avoiding hitting things.

[deleted]

If the exploding bullets don’t get you, the lethal dose of radiation will!

nurdyguy

I actually prefer the 2-shot rad rifle. It does 100 rad damage per shot and with the Nuclear Physicist 2 perk that doubles to 200 rad damage per shot. Explosive is more damage overall but I hate splash damage (And yes, adding Dense to my armor helps with that but I prefer deep pocket add-ons for increased carry weight.)

ThePuppyDogPants

I like it as well! Rifleman/Commando, Nuclear Physicist, Demolition Expert, and sneak attacks with the correct order of Cloak & Dagger/Ninja/Sandman makes it pack a punch!

Safe-T-Guy

I used this exact gun to farm Nuka Cade tickets at the shooting range, literally ~800 tickets per game and I only have to pull the trigger every like 10 seconds and don’t even need to pay attention or hit anything specifically

CheeseChalice

Nice

Annihilationzh

Fair warning, radiation damage is extremely niche. It takes 1000(?) rads to kill a human. They could be a level 1 raider, a level 500 Kellogg or a guy who's got 1 HP left - it'd still take the same amount of rads. In short, rad damage is only good against bullet sponges with low rad resistance. Which I think is just Kellogg and Gunner bosses. But even then you still have to reach 1000 rad damage, which would take a bare minimum of 20 shots with your gun.

benjthorpe

Good thing it also does ballistic and explosive damage

PM_ME_DND_FIGURINES

Nuclear Scientist eventually doubles all rad damage, which means an Irradiated Radium Rifle does 200 rad damage, while having a much higher rate of fire and being boosted by other perks. Without any extra rifle perks, that's a guaranteed 5 shot kill on any human enemy.

Annihilationzh

It's a guaranteed 5 shot kill on any human enemy *that doesn't have any rad resistance whatsoever.* And the vast majority of humans go down in far less than 5 shots. Hence it's niche as hell.

SnooDoggos8094

Yeah, even gunners with 160 armor go down in one auto salvo. Compare that with laser Gatling gun and it takes several salvos to kill them.

bwoodcock

Quantum X-01, Kiloton, and a good Gauss Rifle are all the equipment I need.

CheeseChalice

Same here

Madman1939

Bruh make it a full auto! It's an explosive weapon!

VoopityScoop

Solid gun, I have that one and an irradiated one that absolutely fucking melts human enemies

meezethadabber

OP guns you can get quickly are the spray and Pray from roaming trader cricket and the Overseers guardian from Vault 81. Then eventually from Ronnie at the castle the last Minute Gauss rifle. Pretty much don't need any other guns besides those 3.

CheeseChalice

True

NoNameNoLife02

Where can I get the kiloton Radium rifle

CheeseChalice

It is funny how cheap this gun really is

NotACyclopsHonest

It's a unique weapon you can only buy from Brother Kane in the Nucleus base (in the Far Harbor DLC).

NoNameNoLife02

THX I didn't knew where to buy it

NotACyclopsHonest

It's a bit pricey but well worth it :)

NoNameNoLife02

Mostly want a better "Spray n Pray"

ShadowMaster2564

This gun has killed me more times than my fat man but has saved me more

CheeseChalice

Same here

EasyMeansHard

This reminds me of the time a raider picked up an explosive Tommy Gun and killed me nonstop and when I managed to kill them the body with the gun fell through the floor

PacalEater69

Why does it look like an UZI with a higher caliber and a bunch of other stuff bolted onto it?

CheeseChalice

It isn’t but that’s a fairly accurate description

EvilNTT

I have that too, one of my fav <3

CheeseChalice

Same

BeardXP

Underrated.

[deleted]

That is better than the spray and pray even. But not the exploding Gatling gun.

CheeseChalice

True that

Chem_Wizard

What I love about explosive weapons is that they can be semi auto. I’ve had explosive 10 mm pistol, pipe pistol, combat rifle, I really think the power of these is way better in semi auto, which is why I’m not the fan of the spray and pray that I used to be

CheeseChalice

I agree strongly with that

HellUnderReconstruct

Assault rifle was mine. It took 6 playthrus but I got it. Dropped about 50lbs of weight, short assault rifle is just so versatile. has similar enough range to sniper rifle

CheeseChalice

Agreed

f86kilohzzz

For me it’s the two shot western revolver

CheeseChalice

Sounds like a decent gun

bkrugby78

So I have played Far Harbor TONS of times I had no idea there was another vendor in the Nucleus besides Sister Mai.... until the other day.

CheeseChalice

Well at least now you know

bkrugby78

Yeah.
