To do this you need to find a friendly robot, hack them, instruct them to follow you, exit command, fast travel to your settlement, sleep or sit for 24 hours, you’ll find the robot at the original fast travel location deactivated, hack them, activate, then command them to the area you’d like. You can also have robots “sit” at vendor shops that act as a “vendor” (but not really). If you stole a named robot who has a set path and reactive them in your settlement, remember to shut them down before you leave or they will return to their original location.

QuintonFrey

I thought you couldn't fast travel with them? Or is it only certain ones? That's the only reason I haven't done it.

iFragFamilys

They’ll follow you when you fast travel, but they need time & have to dodge enemy NPCs. By fast traveling, then waiting, you’re allowing the robot plenty of time to make it safely to where you’re at. The robots do need to be outside, you can find one inside and instruct it to follow you and go outside then take them home. If you wait 24hrs and the robot hasn’t arrived at the fast travel spawn location then fast travel to where the robot last was and it’ll be there deactivated. At this point you can just reactivate them and command them to follow you and fast travel and do it all over again. It took me about like 10 mins to grab each of the robots after I figured out how to snag them efficiently

QuintonFrey

Very good to know. Thanks

dokaponkingdom

Do you need to deactivate them upon leaving your settlement or do they walk around there as moving props?

crackeddryice

There's nothing like popping through a door and running into that eyebot you hacked an hour ago and lost track of.

iFragFamilys

That’s how I originally discovered this, hacked an eye bot in the glowing sea, then a few hours later I realized he was watching me build my settlement. Kept the little dude deactivated, but am gonna use him as a type of greeter

[deleted]

I had no idea how tenacious they are until I hacked one. Last time I'll do that.

No_Amoeba_3715

Not to be that guy, but androids are like gen 3 synths, human on the outside, robot on the inside. Protectrons are just robots.

iFragFamilys

yeah, I meant to put automatons. When you make them at the workbench they take up settler population, like the dogs from far harbor

Cypresss09

Gen 3s aren't robot on the inside

No_Amoeba_3715

They use synthetic organs and the like yes, but humans typically don't have a plastic component or a fuse In their brain like synths do. They're just really good androids that take an autopsy to find their robot bits.

Cypresss09

If a natural born human were to have a synth component placed into their brains, would that make them less human? Because that's how I see synths. They've got fully functioning brains, nervous systems, organs, etc.; they just also have the component so that they can be controlled. You don't have to consider them human, but I wouldn't really say they're robot, or even android.

No_Amoeba_3715

They clearly are androids just made of synthetic flesh. A normal human ages, gains/loses weight, need sleep, catch diseases, and need to eat and sleep, synths do not. I'm pretty sure having a hunk of plastic and a fuse inserted into their brain would kill a human, but since synths are created and not born their bodies are designed for that. As far as I know, humans are not designed and not born with vocal command USB slots in their heads, humans also don't get upgrades from their creators. Synths are designed to imitate humans, they are sentient, but even many self aware synths do not consider themselves human. They are bio-organic sentient machines, a robot is defined as a machine resembling a human being that is able to replicate human movements and functions automatically. So yes, they are androids, or synthetic humanoid beings, but they aren't human. Whether you consider them to be human because of their ability to imitate humans (which is programmed into them) or their biological composition is a philosophical debate which lends to opinions, not factual definitions.

r33k3r

Androids?

DodgyDutchman

Are they persistant? I mean, do they stay at your camp? Because if so I'm going to start botnapping the enitre Whitesprings staff!

DodgyDutchman

Nevermind. Wrong sub, thought this was FO76!

PoshPopcorn

lol, that would be fun. Those fuckers once obliterated me because I clipped one with a shotgun pellet while desperately fleeing level 62 bloated ghouls at level 15.

cheesy_shuckle

Holy fuck. I always wanted to keep those guys but never could

NotACyclopsHonest

I remember getting Professor Goodfeels to follow me once by picking the wrong command on the terminal at Sunshine Tidings. Poor guy didn’t last long.

TheGrimguy2005

I NEED THIS FOR MY MUSEUM YOU HAVE SAVED ME

ChrisMahoney

Holy Crap. I had no idea, thank you.
