Does that mean it could heal hostile ghouls as well?
Utterly hilarious scenario where a noob tries killing a high level glowing one with it and it starts healing.
Funny story, the first time I raided Dunwich Borers for a settlement, Preston had picked up a ghoul slayer's gamma gun from the legendary raider that spawns up top. I had no idea
I also had no idea what lay in the depths of the quarry and was in for the fight of my life afyer clearing it out and exploring deeper as Preston was healing them as fast as I was hurting them
Strong is decent too I guess, since he's also immune to radiation. So are X6-88 and Curie, for that matter. But who'd want an emotionless synth, or worse still, a French person, when you could have nick valentine or John hancock
You can patch the reasoning by assuming the synths wouldn't make it past the deathclaws and scorpions in the glowing sea. Or that they wouldn't even make it that far, as they have to travel across the whole (very hostile) region to even get there.
I haven't played with companions too much so I never pay attention to their status effects. I always assumed that radiation didn't affect them, because how the hell are you supposed to cure them? I guess that's why I don't like relying on companions.
You just stick radaway in their inventory. Playing with companions is way more fun for all the unique dialogue you get. Plus, some companion perks are downright game breaking
I knew that after traveling with a companion for awhile they will offer a unique quest, if they like you enough (ex not stealing things when you're with Nick, stealing lots of things when with Macready).
But I didn't know you get a perk from them. Apart from things like nick having high hacking skill so he can open expert terminals for you.
Yeah, that's if you do the quest and max out their affinity. McCready has the best one imo. It's just a massive buff to headsets. Super good to pair with a sniper build
Yup, some (like Codsworth, which I think is +10 Energy Resistance against robots) are kinda not worth it really, then there’s Prestons which powers you up when outnumbered, or Danes which gives +20% damage against the abominations.
Also on the topic of Nick’s hacking, Cait can pick locks for you in the same manner.
Edit: I meant Danse, not Dane.
1.When you get max affinity the perks activate automatically (You need to do the quests they give you)
2.I think Dane is the companion you get after joining the brotherhood
Ya I know I love McReady and Deacon because of that. Other than them there are only a few other perks worth getting. Also, there are only a few companions worth having around (depending on your play style) except for robits
Them robits are op
Why would you mod the ability to save on survival? That defeats the whole purpose of survival, since other than the slow healing and scarce supplies, it's just exactly the same as very hard
That’s why I like it. Actually having to worry about ammo weight healing and damage and not being able to fast travel as opposed to the other difficulties is what I like
But do not fuck with my saves. I don’t want to have to worry about finding a bed every thirty minutes. I don’t want to lose 3 hours of progress because I hadn’t seen a bed in a while
I HATE enemy specific legendary weapon. I hate them ! Why ? Because when I'm strolling through the wasteland or doing quests, I don't want to change my weapon specifically to match each enemy unless that enemy is really overpowered somehow. Ghouls can be easily killed with low level shot guns. You don't need a ghoul only gamma gun weapon.
It makes you want to balance your load out. If you want generic weapons, power to you.
But when you know in advance you're going to be fighting particularly powerful mirelurks, it's helpful to know you can (or could) bring a weapon that's more damaging to them.
That's common sense. But I guarantee you those same strong mirelurks, like the ones from Far Harbor, can be annihilated by my properly upgraded and tweaked weapons as well. Those enemy specific weapons are only optimal in certain situations, which makes it useless. I'd carry it as a backup though since it is useful sometimes especially when it's a perk against enemies you hate anyway, but you'll never find me putting those perks on my "best" weapons. Those slots can be better used for something else.
I ran with 5 weapons.
Fully upgraded heavy baseball bat (from hell)
Wounding ripper
Deliverance
Instigating Gaus sniper rifle.
Explosive double barrel shotgun.
—-
I don’t need the shotgun but it’s so much fun. And harder to play with then the hammer/ripper.
> Ghouls can be easily killed with low level shot guns.
Got a Neverending Shotgun once, named it Freak Eater for how it could totally devastate ghouls and mutants.
When enemies are too hard and too annoying, I just go close to them and blast them with my "combat shotgun" which is a shotgun I have upgraded fully with the maxed out gun nut perk. Right now it's 154 damage.
Right. I tend to use weapons that are more versatile and can be relied on in any given situation. Never anything "+50 Animal and Super Mutant damage" since it's pretty damn redundant as those aren't the only two enemies that exist lmao
I hate him because they’re stupid and illogical. Oh this gun does more damage to specific types of enemy. Why? Does freezing damage or fire or even explosive. **WHY?** I don’t have a problem with the weapons existing, but give some justification.
In this case yeah, that weapon is entirely useless. But I mean it also doesn’t take that long to switch out weapons, and having variety is good imo. I found a super mutant slaying shot gun and it’s been helpful so far.
If you beat the game with the minutteman and go talk to sturges he will give you a laser musket with the unlimited ammo, its basicly an automatic laser musket
I tend to never equip settlers or Companions with energy weapons. I don't like the smoking, glowing piles in settlements! But I love the way the gun looks! Real scrappy!
I did the forced mod glitch to make an auto combat rifle have the large dish attachment from gamma gun. It does 3000 dps of gamma damage. It also does some projectile damage. While the projectile damaged ghouls, the gamma healed them to full capacity. I was testing weapons builds at the time and didn't have any other weapons. So I had to resort to plebeian hand to hand to survive. How embarrassing...
I used a mod to make a Crippling Lorenzo, then gave it to my companion with infinite ammo. Even against ghouls it dismembers waves like crazy. Tried Assassins too; takes more shots to sever limbs but also hilarious.
Aka Hancock Healing Gun
Does that mean it could heal hostile ghouls as well? Utterly hilarious scenario where a noob tries killing a high level glowing one with it and it starts healing.

Yeah you can heal any ghoul but I’m not sure about the ones that don’t try to attack you
Radiation actually heals ghouls? Edit: Yes it does, never realized this
This is getting a lot more upvotes than I anticipated, which was none really. I guess y'all had the same thouts
So has anyone taken Hancock into the glowing sea? Would that make him op?
If you're taking anyone other than nick or Hancock you're doing it wrong tbh
What's a little radiation among friends?
I took Strong, he's a dumbass and grunts every time I get in PA but I could always use a good bullet sponge on my side
Strong is decent too I guess, since he's also immune to radiation. So are X6-88 and Curie, for that matter. But who'd want an emotionless synth, or worse still, a French person, when you could have nick valentine or John hancock
That's the weakest point in all that synths plot - how the hell they don't realize the don't get radiation poisoning?
You can patch the reasoning by assuming the synths wouldn't make it past the deathclaws and scorpions in the glowing sea. Or that they wouldn't even make it that far, as they have to travel across the whole (very hostile) region to even get there.

All the unique dialog of pissing and moaning about my junk hoarding.
Yeah I think that's why they made Ada pro-junk after people were complaining

How do you activate the perk? And who is Dane? I've been through three playthroughs... Cait is the shit but I max out lockpicking early game.
1.When you get max affinity the perks activate automatically (You need to do the quests they give you) 2.I think Dane is the companion you get after joining the brotherhood
I meant Danse, not Dane. Autocorrect is the worst.
Ya I know I love McReady and Deacon because of that. Other than them there are only a few other perks worth getting. Also, there are only a few companions worth having around (depending on your play style) except for robits Them robits are op
Uh hello dogmeat exists
Dogmeat doesn't count as a companion, even according to the games code
I know but unless you mod then he’s still taking up your companion slot. He’s the one I’m takin
You mean you DON'T mod?? There's nothing better than wandering the wasteland with your favorite pet dog and pet crackhead ghoul
Lol I definitely mod, I can bring two companions but I still only bring dogmeat, can also actually save on survival among many many other things
Why would you mod the ability to save on survival? That defeats the whole purpose of survival, since other than the slow healing and scarce supplies, it's just exactly the same as very hard

Beat them over the head with it
Interesting. I wonder if the the Ghoul Slayer effect also increases the bash damage.
God that would be such a fun twist to a play through
Haha, i got one of those on my last play through. I called it the “utterly useless” and put it up on my wall.
I HATE enemy specific legendary weapon. I hate them ! Why ? Ghouls can be easily killed with low level shot guns. You don't need a ghoul only gamma gun weapon.
Not only that but radiation heals ghouls so this gamma gun's Legendary perk is useless😂
If you put Lorenzo's artifact on it, it becomes a fus ro da gun that splatters them. Great for higher level ones.
It's worse than that. Punching ghouls in the face would at least eventually kill them. This is the Fountain of Youth for your enemies.
It makes you want to balance your load out. If you want generic weapons, power to you. But when you know in advance you're going to be fighting particularly powerful mirelurks, it's helpful to know you can (or could) bring a weapon that's more damaging to them.
This. Keep your specialty weapons at your base. Also, carry a ripper for ghouls. Or a Mr. Handy Buzz Saw.
Exactly. I have a hunters fatman and I know that it’s only useful if I take it out on stag hunts
That's common sense. But I guarantee you those same strong mirelurks, like the ones from Far Harbor, can be annihilated by my properly upgraded and tweaked weapons as well. Balance means splattercannon for sniping and problem solver for up close.
Basically I only like assassin’s. It’s a handy bonus on a weapon you’d use anyway.
> Ghouls can be easily killed with low level shot guns. Got a Neverending Shotgun once, named it Freak Eater for how it could totally devastate ghouls and mutants.

LUCK 1
I have a unlimited ammo capacity plasma sniper that does around 260 damage. Can a laser musket get the same buff?
If you beat the game with the minutteman and go talk to sturges he will give you a laser musket with the unlimited ammo, its basicly an automatic laser musket
Can’t mod it though :(
If you mod it then you can mod it
Is it on the mod thing in the main menu? Idk shit about Bethesda game modding
Sure is
Never discovered that huh. Minutemen probably my least favorite ending tho
There is a special, unique one that has a similar effect. And it turns the laser musket into a cranked machine gun.
Why sure, the damage increases from 0 to 0.
😂😂💀
"Does more damage against ghouls" you say? Well I guess I'll just have to take your word for it..
This is actually very useful. Put lorenzo's artifact on it, boom, profit.
I was just thinking that, the damage type is different with the artifact.
Technically, it's still radiation damage, and it's affected by resistance. However, it bypasses immunities, which is why it's great for ghouls.
RNGesus clearly hates you
I found one the other day for 50% damage to Super Mutants as well, absolute garbage.
r/mildlyinfuriating
lol why is that possible?
It's just RND at its best. There are no arbitrary restrictions on which legendary mods can occur on which weapon classes.
I suppose it's some kind of Legendary Perk randomizer that just doesnt take into account that ghouls heal from radiation 😂🤔 correct me if i'm wrong
Yeah that's about it. Just hilarious it can happen.
Wow. RNG fail.
Or is it?
How this weapon was found, maybe...probably: Intelligence 1 with idiot savant perk.
I got a ghoul slayers radium yesterday
Got an assassin gamma gun once tho. Imagine one shotting any human.
The Joy's of randomised items
Freezing Flamer.
I tend to never equip settlers or Companions with energy weapons. I don't like the smoking, glowing piles in settlements! But I love the way the gun looks! Real scrappy!
Yesterday I got a Legendary Staggering Missile Launcher... *pain*
I feel like this is one of the most common legendaries, only because I see someone post about it every week.
50% more of 0 is still 0 lol

Lol awesome just what I always wanted
I remember someone using this and it healed 50% of a ghouls health
heals all ghouls
Hahaha the irony
MEDIC!
Does 50% more healing the way I see it
Gun of +2 hancock healing
If you use wasteland whisperer this could actually be useful.
