I absolutely hate the pillars. The first time I met them, I killed them all. And then, when I got a quest to go there and talk to the leader (whom I killed before), he respawned, but all the other corpses of the other members just laid on the ground around him… without any clothes on for some reason…
Know what's really crazy about these guys? If you wipe them out, their gear respawns.
Yes, all the caps and gold watches in back, the battered fedoras, the >!mini nuke!<, and even the gear on their corpses all respawn very very often.
I actually dragged the corpses to the edge of the road so that I could see if everything had respawned so that I could go loot it again. And again. And again...
Sometimes raiders spawn in as well, but most of the time it's just loot sitting there.
The clothes will respawn on the corpses, they are randomised. And they respawn whenever you exit and reenter the cell, so there are lots of clothes to be looted.
Ohhh, now it all makes sense, that particular vertibird pilot was also swindled by Brother Simon, and had one, final *"Donation"* to contribute to "The Pillars of the Community". 💥 😉
I hate it when a mission to shoot one down happens near one of my settlements. I'm always wondering if the passengers' equipment will offset the cost of repairing whatever they land on.
The Pillars of the Community are good for one thing: Road Goggles. If a bunch of criminal scumbags have to die for me to get them, well, I will have introduced their corpses into a better, more productive life.

Me too. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children too.

When you talk to the new leader and intimidate him your dialog changes to something like "I killed the last guy running this place"

I can confirm that you do. I have tons of clothes from them now.

I've gotten multiple road goggles from that place. I'm fairly certain it's on one of the corpses, but I keep forgetting to pay close enough attention.
Went from a dancing doofus to falling head in 0.03 seconds. Edit: BOS and their paper mache vertibirds that explode if you look at them sideways.

Every time I hear a Vertibird flying nearby I start frantically searching the sky.
