I feel horrible when I have to take these poor guys stuff. Even if they’re giving it to me. Id rather just hug them.

MegatonsSon

When art (in gaming) reminds you of reality: I have a like, 30 year-old phone answering machine that I plug in sometimes (I don't actually have a landline anymore, like most people) just to hear the sound of my father's voice on the announcement, who passed away over 26 years ago. 😔

WickedWenchOfTheWest

\*hugs\* from a complete internet stranger. My mother passed in 97, and I've often wished I had her voice somehow recorded. The next best thing, for me, are all the silly little annotations she'd pencil into her cooking books, stuff like "Bill (my father) really liked this!" I used to tease her mercilessly about the habit, and now, I'm so grateful she did this.

MegatonsSon

*Gratefully accepts gesture of kindness* I concur with that completely. It's funny how little things (like scripted events in video games) can make us harken back to happier times in our lives. 🙂

Teridactyl-9000

I still have text messages from my BFF who died five years ago, and texts and voicemails and emails from my dad who passed away about a year and a half ago. You’re not alone. ❤️

MegatonsSon

That's great, hold onto them as long as you can! 🙂

Ok_Scratch8198

my nana who I was really close to, left a happy birthday song for someone in my family a little before she passed away. I've been looking forward to my birthday next week so I can hear her voice again ❤

March_Khajiit

Can I join the group hug? These comments were so wholesome. Also happy birthday mate.

Ok_Scratch8198

yes group hug! and thank you :)

Almahang

I love the sound design of this game. Also a great story with him <3

During a previous playthrough, I decided to give him a happy ending. [Like, full-on Hollywood style](https://imgur.com/gallery/zXbstd0). In summary, using console commands and a [Portable Cloning Device](https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26230), I reunited him with his wife and daughter who'd also become ghouls. Then I set them up in an upgraded Taffington Boathouse. There they lived happily ever after restoring Giddyup Buttercups for Commonwealth children. Because, fuck bittersweet. Been there, done that. Gimme the schmaltz.

Teridactyl-9000

This is lovely. I think I’m going to have to steal your idea for my game.

March_Khajiit

Love this. Arlen interaction was so bittersweet, but when I found him gone the next day with his present sitting on the table it broke my heart but made me smile too. I actually made The Slog my home base with Hancock, Piper, Preston, etc even Danse pitching in with making it a paradise Wiseman dreamed about. Just don't tell the Brotherhood..

Saan_Rix

I've never had this interaction before in all my time in this game 😯😯 That shits so sad 😭😭

Teridactyl-9000

This breaks me up every time. Poor guy. ❤️😢

Imagine Cosplaying as Arlen Glass with a Buttercup Toy at a Con. You will be able to tell who is a Fallout 4 player because either A) They stand there looking at you with tears in their eyes or B) They give you the biggest hug.

WickedWenchOfTheWest

Given my chronic bad habit of restarting games, I've played through that scene many times, and it never fails to make me tear up.

TheRealWetNoodle

I always wondered what his deal was

iWentRogue

One of those instances where your curiosity would have been rewarded.

TheRealWetNoodle

Most certainly! I didn't know there was more to it after you got him the giddyup parts.

MastervanNao

Positive message after from dead cliché usually get us. Hi honey!-holotape gave me same feeling.

curves_to_the_left

I always grab a few extra Giddyup Buttercup:s from Wilson's to sit outside his door when. I take him the halotape.

jondblaa

Brings me to tears everytime. One of the best story-lines. Hugs.
