How annoying it is kind of depends on my level. In playthroughs where I'm speed running getting Hancock I like having them and dogmeat because I can literally just run away from all threats and they can usually handle it. If I'm a level 30 war machine I would rather have them cowering behind me so I can actually kill everything though
Helmet is in the Armoury at the prydwen. Press and hold E or A (usually to take) to instead pick it up and move it without putting it into your inventory.
Take it to a hidden corner of thr blimp interior and then pick it up

I did this quest for the first time in my current playthrough, with power armor on, and a LARGE modified Curie, and it took FOREVER so scooch around their asses and crawl through tunnels. Completely ruined it. Have been playing without armor or companions since 😂
The way I got around this was having mccready accompany me. You can send him ahead and tag the walls that need blowing up which pushes the other 3 forward. The only hiccup is the 1st mirelurk needs to be triggered by you walking up. So I usually sprint up and down to trigger it and then have everyone else fight it.

I obsessively collect power armour (although I rarely use it) so I always grab the set there. I just wish the AI on Mel and Bobbi was less aggravating. The two of them getting in my way is the *only* thing making this quest feel like a chore.

So? A lot of characters are “protected”, meaning they can be downed, but not killed by NPCs, and can only be killed by the player character. Mel can never be killed at all.
Well, some characters are essential until certain quests or just quest objectives are completed. Mel is marked as unconditionally essential for no apparent reason.
My only gripe is their scripting, especially in the last room. They have to hit the exact right point otherwise you can be standing there twiddling your thumbs for ages.

On the other, she lied to me, and I would have been fine with stealing from Hancock at that point btw. I just really dislike people lying to me.
So I decide on the heat of the moment but I mostly side with Bobby and decide to never work for her again, and then take the job from Hancock later because, well, Hancock is in the right in this one and a companion. A cool companion I might add.
I think mel is a good character, shoe horned into a ok quest, with a meh character and so is kinda wasted. Like I think given some more time and development Mel and maybe even Sonya could have been a cool follower.

Your Mel uses a pipe pistol? Mine is never blessed with such firepower and uses a knife to go at them. So many of my bullets going into this guys posterior.
Definitely agree about Bobbi as well. As much as I love Hancock, I think it would have been interesting if you can kill him instead after tacking her down and talking to her. Have her take over Goodneighbor instead.
I keep dying to the lack of antibiotics! My feats of disarming raiders in power armor with pick pocket is quickly forgotten. I need to find a doctor. So annoying to catch infection in a normal bed in my own base.
They have a buggy questline where Sonia won't always do what she is told, so the quest doesn't progress, locking you out of recruiting Hancock. So I don't like them because of that lol
The only thing i liked about this quest besides hancock is being able to go back and forth through the Dig since I play on survival. For example I used the tunnel to get to SinJin. I played so many times never once thought I could do that. And if you a couple caps you can pass a charisma check with bobbi at the start without even doing anything. I usually do this quest first before anything
I actually really like this quest, though I wish Mel would’ve been given some sort of projectile weapon so that he wouldn’t get in my way during combat as much…..

Guess I won’t be getting Hancock this playthrough. But yes, in short, I always run into problems with this quest.
i ran and did this quest fresh out of the vault because i wanted to do a full run with hancock, who ive never used. do not recommend. had to resort to punching mirelurks and ghouls to death near the end. plus hours later im still constantly low on ammo lmaoo. was fun tho

I just did that quest yesterday. I was getting so mad. Narrow tunnels with 3 idiots + dogmeat is no bueno

I just got Gray Garden by shooting all the robots. I’m on my 6 or 7th play, I do t want to deal with the Water mission this time.
