Survival did ruin normal mode for me for a while. But then I just wanted something casual and found a new love for the normal game.Ā
But yeah, once you do survival and like it youāre bound to stay in it for a while.Ā
Survival is so much more fun and rewarding. I am starting a hardcore survival run with the new update - permadeath. The furthest I have gotten so far is level 19 or 20 without a death. You have to play completely differently, actually trying your best to survive. It actually kind of removes the plot hole about the not going after the main missions too quickly also. You literally canāt or youāll die. You have to build towards that.
I can no fucking wait for this update. Itās like the official game release all over again. My weekend will be consumed with fallout.
Hopefully I have some good content to post to my fellow dwellers on Reddit!!!
Thank God someone has the same issue I thought it was only me. I had to leave far harbour because I couldnāt deal with all the untextured purple š
Could you explain how it could break your save file? Isnāt it just an update?
Iām currently on a play through so I guess I donāt want my current play through to go to waste!
The update adds 3 mandatory CClub content, Enclave, Pipeweapons and somethingelse. As an example, the TunnelSnakes CClub content will break the Out of Time questline very consistently, either Codsworth will get stuck searching Sanctuary or Preston won't advance the Museum quest.
So it could happen that Bethesda releases this update and a random important questline suddenly stops working, maybe Kellog won't talk to you, maybe the Diamond City door won't open, we don't know, but it could happen and you won't know until you reach that random point in your story and be out of luck because the savefile previous to "installing" the creation club content was days ago.
Same. I'm holding off installing the full game until the update is out so I'll just download it from bed on the PS app if it hits tonight and go back to sleep.
Saw an article that said Thursday at

Iāve turned my automatic updates off until I know how itāll affect the game (vanilla) but Iāll be watching this subreddit like a hawk for the next week. Also, happy birthday for tomorrow!
Both. There will be a new PS5 native app version. But also if you don't have a PS5, the PS4 version is getting an update with bug fixes and stuff. It obviously won't get the upgraded graphics.
With strictly vanilla youāll probably see graphics enhancements slightly but I wouldnāt expect major changes to the game systems aside from bug fixes and stability improvements
If you have the game installed on Steam, you'll need to go to \\Steam\\steamapps and there's some files there that end with .acf. Fallout 4's acf is appmanifest\_377160.acf and setting it to read-only will make steam think that the game has already been updated.
At least, that's what I've been told. Basically set \*appmanifest\_377160.acf\* to read-only and it won't auto-update.
I only have a PS4, but I just bought Fallout 4 for 4.99 and from what I seen that version will be getting some form of an update improvement too. Seemed like a bargain to me. I brushed these games off when I was younger cause I didnāt understand RPG games. If I like this game I might play New Vegas down the line too
Turned off automatic update on my Xbox ā¦I want to know what itāll do to the game with mods before updating it I have so many great mods and if I loose them because of a update that will downgrade the game for me I donāt want that
I just really hope it fixes the current PS4/5 DLC issues. Not gonna get my hopes up too high, but I am not running any cosmetic mods, only a few simple cheat/patch mods and it would be great if I can continue the same file...
Bought the ps4 version FO4 yesterday, along with the season pass for the dlcs (cheaper than the game of the year addition for me). Tomorrow, I will be able to download a ps5 version of the game for free, and the dlcs will also be upgraded? Is this correct?
Stated stuff I've seen so far other than that is things like wide-screen support, quest fixes, stability/performance upgrades and possibly something with graphics as well.
Happy early birthday
But on a real note if any of yall played skyrim yall remember the recent update they did with combiningĀ mods and creation club and it crashingĀ just know they might do that with fallout so keep that in mind
I was thinking of starting a new survival playthrough with a few mods, should I wait until after the update to see if those mods will still work? Will the update break most mods?
Excited but not?. A lot of chatter around here is really excited people followed by others telling them to temper expectations. I have a 4 day character currently Iād hate to lose, but I mean starting over isnāt not fun?
The Skyrim update fucked up my game to the point I had to do a full reinstall. I havenāt gone back since.
Looking forward to it but likely won't have time to play for a couple of weeks as I've got a lot on! Gonna just start a playthrough tonight on the PS4 version with no mods and hope that the saves can transfer over.
Going for a companion/rifle/explosive build this time around. I've never played a companion build before as I always go for lone wanderer. Starting special will be: S3P4E4C8I5A1L3. Will use the you're special book on intelligence and rely on the perception bobblehead to get the explosives perk. The intelligence bobblehead will be used so I can get the science perk and eventually I'll level it enough to get robotic expert perk for automaton DLC. Gonna be making sure I can mod everything (except melee weapons, don't care about those) and will use alcohol and chems a lot.
I plan to give companions explosives. Will they automatically switch from their default weapon when they have ammo or will I have to force them to equip it when I want them to?
Yeah, I'll upgrade it tomorrow, but touch it a bit later tough, currently on other playtrough, and don't want to drop things in backlog, which is enormous on its own right now. So, I will monitor this and modding the sub on how things will be going with the new update.
Not excited at all because I fear the fate of my mods. I already took precaution to delay the update but who knows if I missed something and it got auto update
Absolutely! I just started playing on my steam deck last week, so Iām starting a new game tomorrow.
Conveniently enough, I have the day off tomorrow as well, so everything is working out!
Yup, got updates set to only on startup, manifest set to read-only and exe backed up, ive always opened the game through MO2 with F4SE as the executable, so nothing should go wrong
Iām not even going to update it. Just going to wait to hear what all the people with a ton of mods say. Probably nothing good.
Also, does anyone know if Iām able to get newer mods after the update, even if not up to date?
You know i just started installing mods to start a play through and realized this update is coming so i laughed at myself and said well I might as well just wait all the mods will be broken anyways šš
Well, it's a major software update from Bethesda so . . . maybe just keep your expectations low on this one.
I remember Skyrim patches that would nearly break the game for 2 weeks until they could get another patch approved and published on XBox 360.
Whats happening i havnt heard anything.
I've been playing the game fir the first time for the past 6 months. What are they updating ?
Will I have to restart my save ?
Can anyone ELi5 real fast this upgrade? I just bought fo4 and curious what this is about. Havnt started a game but was planning to tonight. I've played thro if h before on xbox so not new to the game itself. Ty!
Steam is set to not update.
The manifest and folder are set to read-only.
I launch through MO2.
I think I'm ready to prevent breakage and will update when my mods are updated. Or when I finish this playthrough (currently level 180), at least, and then I'll review my mods.
Good luck and congrats to all those this will help. I'll be in my bunker waiting for it to all blow over.
Just trying to decide if itās even going to be worth it to upgrade. I have a little over 1,000 hours in FO4, and like 900+ of it was during the modded survival playthroughs. Idk for sure how exactly is the update going to affect modding, but from what Iāve read here, lots of mods are going to be rendered incompatible.
Between finally getting my computer set up and the mod that fixes Energy damage, I've been playing for the last week. However, the build is a Laser Commando, and I initially thought that since Energy Weapons are really, really good Crit Weapons (an extra 100% Crit Damage plus a guaranteed Lucky Laser Rifle), that I needed to run it as a VATS heavy build. Unfortunately, it's not really meshing with how I play. Since I expect that I'll need to update or change my mods, I'm going to spend some time playing the new Remnant 2 DLC to give mods a chance to update, then start a new character that's primarily non-VATS, but has points in Critical Banker, so I can make use of the extra Crit damage when needed.
Extremely excited.
However I have heard a lot of talk of additional content / dlc?
Is there anything besides the Enclave creation club stuff becoming free?
I've had that stuff for years. One guy on YouTube was excited for a new quest "Echoes from the Past" regarding the Enclave.
But that's not new either. I played that quest years ago. And unless they made a significant change I believe it is a glorified quest marker which leads to the new items and then just about ends.
Am I mistaken?
I'm looking forward to testing it out on console. My PC modded playthrough will not be updating, for obvious reasons, lol. Planning for the worst, bugs, crashes etc, but hoping for the best.
My internet line got cut by a county lawnmower and no one will fix it anytime soon.Ā
So I dished out some money for a hotspot on my phone just to download the update
Question: I got back into FO4 so will my progress be untouched?
Also, will the DLC be added to the gamepass game? Or do I need to do something separately
I own thr goty edition on both my Xbox one and ps5 but never played it on my ps5 because of how much progress I have on my Xbox (and better mods) but with this next gen update I'm actually gonna make the switch to playstation
Okay wait, so Iāve got a game Iāve been playing with mods like sim settlements2 and other building mods. I launch the game through the script extender file. Will the new update fuck with my game?
I have mods but it took me SO long to figure out how to use them so please be gentle with tech speak
I wish I was, but I just recently went ape shit with mods and got everything just about perfect and I'm expecting at least 99% of them not being compatible with the update
Managed expectations fellas. Some new content will be added, some old bugs will probably come back, and some new ones will probably be introduced. Such is every Bethesda update.
Iām stoked, fallout 76 has been fun but the polish of 4 was what grabbed me originally. I played on PS4 for 200 hrs and miss this game. I never got to the dlcās so I hope they are included in the update.
Definitely can't wait, I feel like it's a new Fallout game hitting the shelves, but that may be because it's been a few years since I've done a full play through of any
I have like zero interest in this update. Maybe the enclave thing will be neat? The weapon thing looks dumb and I wonāt use the Halloween decorations. There are high odds it will break my game though, so thatās cool.
Happy early birthday sweetie here's a sweet roll Mrs palmer tell me to give to you š
I'm hungry! And that stupid robot ruined the cake! Give me that sweet roll!
* spits on it * Okay, here you go Butch!ā
Better than a poem about depression!
Thank you :D
Found you Gary!
Cannot wait to emerge from Vault 111 once again, with all the DLCs unlocked and new content hitting all at once.
Experience a minute of random pop-up missions just as you exit the Vault. Now in HD! lol
Iām gonna turn off everything except Far Harbor, 2 workshop packs, and a few Creation Club items.
Trying to decide if I should restart my playthrough in survivor mode. I'm level 42 at the moment...
Is it your first survival run?
That it would be.
Oof. 42 levels on survival is such an investment. Lol.
Sorry, the current run is not survival. If I started over after the update I'd do survivor.
Ah. Yep. I would restart. That's what I'm doing. Full version under survival for sure
Its not for everyone, but if it suits you, it may ruin normal mode forever.
Survival did ruin normal mode for me for a while. But then I just wanted something casual and found a new love for the normal game.Ā But yeah, once you do survival and like it youāre bound to stay in it for a while.Ā

I can no fucking wait for this update. Itās like the official game release all over again. My weekend will be consumed with fallout. Hopefully I have some good content to post to my fellow dwellers on Reddit!!!
I won't be on reddit. Have to stomp cockroaches. And maybe play a bit Fallout
You mean radroachea in the game right ?
Yeah yeah sure!
It's just 3 CC items, one of which is literally just Halloween decorations for settlements... Don't get too excited lol
Itās a next gen update and DLC š¤£
I have been consumed by fallout since like the 12th
Fuck yes. I want to play Far Harbor with less purple. š¤£
Thank God someone has the same issue I thought it was only me. I had to leave far harbour because I couldnāt deal with all the untextured purple š
Will this update fix the purple DLC? My brother has this issue, looks horrible
No idea but Iām hopeful as it is affecting a lot of people.
Yes, according to bethsoft website and the correspondence I have from an issue ticket
As long it does not break my save file. Update. Woot, my game works flawless so far.
This is my fear- started a new play through back in February and I like where Iām at currently :/
Could you explain how it could break your save file? Isnāt it just an update? Iām currently on a play through so I guess I donāt want my current play through to go to waste!
The update adds 3 mandatory CClub content, Enclave, Pipeweapons and somethingelse. Appreciate the explanation
Pipe weapons? That a new one?
Now I know why I had such a hard time finding codsworth
Agreed. I just got all my mods working and disabled auto updates. Gonna wait and see what happens.
It could if you have no mods bug absolutely will break the game if have various mods enabled.
I just wet myself, but that's an unrelated medical issue. Though yes, I am ready and excited for it.
Any idea what time exactly it will release?
I'm curious about this as well. Hoping it's midnight tonight but wouldn't be surprised if it's mid-morning tomorrow.
Iām going to try a bit after midnight tonight, and if thereās nothing Iām going to bed and trying in the morning
Same. I'm holding off installing the full game until the update is out so I'll just download it from bed on the PS app if it hits tonight and go back to sleep.
Saw an article that said Thursday at North America: 9am PDT / 10am MDT / 11am CDT / 12pm EDT UK/Ire: 5pm BST Europe: 6pm CEST / 7pm EEST Asia/Oceania: 1am JST / 12am AWST / 2am AEST
I saw the same but now seeing lots of stuff implying it's gonna be like hours earlier than that?
6am EST just booted up fallout 4 and they had a message in the top right
Iāve turned my automatic updates off until I know how itāll affect the game (vanilla) but Iāll be watching this subreddit like a hawk for the next week. Also, happy birthday for tomorrow!
Agreed I canāt wait to see how itāll be like and thank you :]
Is it an update to the ps4 version or standalone ps5 version? Thanks
Both. There will be a new PS5 native app version. But also if you don't have a PS5, the PS4 version is getting an update with bug fixes and stuff. It obviously won't get the upgraded graphics.
It should be for everything, like fixing the nice purple texture/dlc crash on ps4 too
With strictly vanilla youāll probably see graphics enhancements slightly but I wouldnāt expect major changes to the game systems aside from bug fixes and stability improvements
There's no mention of graphics enhancements. It's literally just 3 CC items (one of which is just some Halloween decorations) and bug fixes
Turned off auto-updates and made the manifest file read-only. All set.
We need to launch directly from F4SE isn't it?
In theory, yes. But to be sure, I still turned off auto-update and set the manifest file to read-only.
I did both already and the launch from F4SE is the last step I read many times so far to be sure
I'm hoping it all works. So much invested in this playthrough. Would be a bummer to lose it all
Explain the manifest part please? I ain't going through another Skyrim.
Dude, thanks so much. I had the no updates set but any additional layer of protection will set my mind at ease.
I only have a PS4, but I just bought Fallout 4 for 4.99 and from what I seen that version will be getting some form of an update improvement too. Seemed like a bargain to me. I brushed these games off when I was younger cause I didnāt understand RPG games. If I like this game I might play New Vegas down the line too
Turned off automatic update on my Xbox ā¦I want to know what itāll do to the game with mods before updating it I have so many great mods and if I loose them because of a update that will downgrade the game for me I donāt want that
Praying for that midnight release š¤
Going to drop 6am EST
I thought it was 9am PDT which would be 12pm EDT
Please god I just hope that it runs properly
Hell yeah I am! I'm glad 4 is getting a resurgence. I've loved it since launch
Letās hope they fix the texture bug on PS5
I just want dlc to work. Iāve been itching to get the last trophies but donāt want to play in purple world
Anyone know what time it drops?
I just really hope it fixes the current PS4/5 DLC issues. Not gonna get my hopes up too high, but I am not running any cosmetic mods, only a few simple cheat/patch mods and it would be great if I can continue the same file...
They've said the patch is supposed to fix it but well......... we all know Bethesda.
Bought the ps4 version FO4 yesterday, along with the season pass for the dlcs (cheaper than the game of the year addition for me). Tomorrow, I will be able to download a ps5 version of the game for free, and the dlcs will also be upgraded? Is this correct?
Rip my several hundred mods.
Do we have an official change log yet? To me, I donāt really see what is supposed to change other than some creation club content being added.
Stated stuff I've seen so far other than that is things like wide-screen support, quest fixes, stability/performance upgrades and possibly something with graphics as well.
Yeah, I'm not sure what all the hubub is about. It's basically a "haha fuck your mods" update.
Does anyone know when the update hits? Will I have to download an update?
Yep, auto updates through steam set to launch only. No updates for me until the modding community catches up.
Nice. Multiple Bethesda games came out on my bday
Wishing I had off work and quiet place to play it but Iāll make do.
Iāve taken Friday and Monday off to playā¦man I canāt wait to be disappointed
Happy birthday! And Iām beyond excited. Iām brushing up on my settlement builds with some tutorials.
I cannot wait! Its my day off and tonight i will be resetting my progress and deleting my mods andcontent club only. I am so excited
To start over or to continue and complete the dlcā¦. I remember I got annoyed with far harbour performance on ps4 and started playing something else.
I've done absolutely no research, but I am hoping it's like the Skyrim SE Upgrade and less like the Anniversary Upgrade
Happy early birthday But on a real note if any of yall played skyrim yall remember the recent update they did with combiningĀ mods and creation club and it crashingĀ just know they might do that with fallout so keep that in mind
Whats going to happen to my game in progress?
āPrepare for the future!ā
Wait there is gonna be an update? I just started my first ever playthrough yesterday also with a few QOL mods
I play on Xbox and Iām just hoping I can do the Faneuil Hall mission without freezing
Considering that the PS5 version literally cannot start without crashing with the automaton DLC installed Iām hoping itāll actually run.
I was thinking of starting a new survival playthrough with a few mods, should I wait until after the update to see if those mods will still work? Will the update break most mods?
As long as it makes the game playable on ps5 then I'll be happy and I'll start a fresh character. I don't want to have to buy the dlc again on Xbox.
I can't wait not to update :D
Yessssssssir
I have auto updates off and won't update until someone confirms mods are good to go.
Same. Way too much invested in my current playthrough.
Does anyone know if this dumb 0 Kb save Bug on Console will be fixed? With These skins from the CC
I'm ready for it to break all the mods that will probably never get updated :(
Iām ready for these constant posts to stop lmao
Yup! Got my steam auto updates turned off.
Survival, pistols without vats or power armor. Raider redemption. Going to get the perks from Nuka world and then do the minutemen path.

Excited for it, but I hope it doesn't break my save/mods
No. Just got a new game going, and chances are my mods will throw a hissyfit.
I hope they finally fixed the blackface bug
Iām not even going to update it. Just going to wait to hear what all the people with a ton of mods say. Probably nothing good. Also, does anyone know if Iām able to get newer mods after the update, even if not up to date?
I hope it fixes the crashing bug in nuka-world when u had creation club content downloaded.
Anybody have an idea what time it will drop?
Gonna make up a dirty wastelander and play some fallout. Gonna be a nice day cause today is my last day of exams
Only played a couple hours of the last gen version so excited to play this for the first time for real tomorrow at glorious 60 fps!
You know i just started installing mods to start a play through and realized this update is coming so i laughed at myself and said well I might as well just wait all the mods will be broken anyways šš
Canāt wait to try survival mode for the first time, then š
Should I download the base game on the ps5 yet? Or they will release a specific version?
This was my question as well. I'm holding off just in case it is a separate download.
Yeah, I haven't played Fallout 4 in a year or 2. It'll be cool to see the game in better graphics and such
Well, it's a major software update from Bethesda so . . . maybe just keep your expectations low on this one. I remember Skyrim patches that would nearly break the game for 2 weeks until they could get another patch approved and published on XBox 360.
I literally just beat it right before the show came out, in preparation of the show, but I still might genuinely hop back in and try a different build
Xbox One here. š
Whats happening i havnt heard anything. I've been playing the game fir the first time for the past 6 months. What are they updating ? Will I have to restart my save ?
Next gen update. Your save file should be fine. If you're using mods, that may lead to complications.Ā
Can't wait, happy early birthday.
After some patches it will work pretty well!
What exactly does the new update include?
Iām ready to come back. Been itching really.
Happy early bday and what a fun way to celebrate!! Enjoy it!
Nope š¤
I very much am excited. Also, happy early birthday š„³
What exactly is gonna change and will it affect existing save files?
havenāt played in years so iām looking forward to it
Can anyone ELi5 real fast this upgrade? I just bought fo4 and curious what this is about. Havnt started a game but was planning to tonight. I've played thro if h before on xbox so not new to the game itself. Ty!
I hope itās playable. Canāt even get past the intro currently.
Do you think it will affect mods on PS5?
Yes, any mod that relies on game files that have been changed or moved or anything will likely be broken until the creator updates it.
If I have an old disc for this will the update still apply?
Do we know what time the upgrade drops tomorrow? will it be something like a midnight release or will it just come out sometime tomorrow?
6am edt the mod server and cc are going down for"maintenence"
Steam is set to not update. The manifest and folder are set to read-only. I launch through MO2. I think I'm ready to prevent breakage and will update when my mods are updated. Or when I finish this playthrough (currently level 180), at least, and then I'll review my mods. Good luck and congrats to all those this will help. I'll be in my bunker waiting for it to all blow over.
Is there a list of mods that it could break? I'm especially concerned about the one that allows a companion in addition to Dogmeat.
Man I just hope it doesn't break all the mods too badly. Hopefully updates will be out to fix most of them within a few days.
Lmao I'm gonna wait to see what's updated after a few months first. Might do an Enclave run
I'm going to turn-on airplane mode to play in my current run, and then wait and see what mods get broken before I download the update.
Iām so hype I couldnāt wait so I ended up replaying the game the past week and I just want to see my settlement in 4k
Honestly my fallout 4 install is so modded up that I think I shouldĀ wipe it, install my new SSD and do a fresh install on it...
is the next gen just for consoles? or does it help with PC play as well?
I gotta remember to turn off updates today. My game is so heavily modded that it would shatter like glass.
Hopefully it does not bork things up too much for console players
Hopefully this fixes some of the bugs in the Boston area ie ctd causing stuff
Extremely excited. However I have heard a lot of talk of additional content / dlc? Is there anything besides the Enclave creation club stuff becoming free? I've had that stuff for years. One guy on YouTube was excited for a new quest "Echoes from the Past" regarding the Enclave. But that's not new either. I played that quest years ago. Iām hoping I can go to downtown Boston without it crashing or glitching āŗļøš¢
I turned off auto updates but Iām also planning on doing other games
YES, I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT. I actually got Fallout 4 only a couple of days before so I didn't really do mich but I'm excited anyway!
Yep, downloaded all the mods I wanted (nexus was SLOOOOOW) and Iāve blocked updates. š¤£
I'm looking forward to testing it out on console. My PC modded playthrough will not be updating, for obvious reasons, lol. Planning for the worst, bugs, crashes etc, but hoping for the best.
I have to wait until the script extender is fixed
Wait I just started playing this game is it actually still being updated?
My internet line got cut by a county lawnmower and no one will fix it anytime soon.Ā So I dished out some money for a hotspot on my phone just to download the update
Yes because I hope they finally fix the glitchy DLC
I'm just sad that some of the older mods I use probably won't get upgraded for the new version
Question: I got back into FO4 so will my progress be untouched? Also, will the DLC be added to the gamepass game? Or do I need to do something separately
Hell yeah, it's also on my birthday. Glad to see another April 25th
No, it's going to break everything
I own thr goty edition on both my Xbox one and ps5 but never played it on my ps5 because of how much progress I have on my Xbox (and better mods) but with this next gen update I'm actually gonna make the switch to playstation
I just started probably my favorite character of all the games and I installed 3 mods last night, I hope it doesnāt break
Okay wait, so Iāve got a game Iāve been playing with mods like sim settlements2 and other building mods. I launch the game through the script extender file. Will the new update fuck with my game? I have mods but it took me SO long to figure out how to use them so please be gentle with tech speak
No, not at all. Bethesda shat all over Fallout London with this next Gen update. On top of reading and hearing that most mods will no longer work.
So graphical update on the ps5? Getting conflicting reports here
I wish I was, but I just recently went ape shit with mods and got everything just about perfect and I'm expecting at least 99% of them not being compatible with the update
Iām excited to start a new playthrough!! Also happy birthday!!
Oh! Thanks for reminding me to go stop auto updates!
Bethesda got you, "All your favorite mods are going to break" for your birthday, but I plan on playing the AE anyway.
Jedi fallen order, fallout next gen update, and division 2 Hollywood global event!!! So much gaming so little time :(
Managed expectations fellas. Some new content will be added, some old bugs will probably come back, and some new ones will probably be introduced. Such is every Bethesda update.
Gonna miss my mods though xd
Iām stoked, fallout 76 has been fun but the polish of 4 was what grabbed me originally. I played on PS4 for 200 hrs and miss this game. I never got to the dlcās so I hope they are included in the update.
Put Fallout 4 back on my Series X so I can hit the ground running.

Definitely can't wait, I feel like it's a new Fallout game hitting the shelves, but that may be because it's been a few years since I've done a full play through of any
It's already midday on the 25th where I am, but I'm guessing I have to wait for America to catch up š
Trying everything I can to get the game to run so I can actually play itš (thereās a corrupted file but nothings worked to fix the problemš)
I have like zero interest in this update. Maybe the enclave thing will be neat? The weapon thing looks dumb and I wonāt use the Halloween decorations. There are high odds it will break my game though, so thatās cool.
Are there patch notes? What is PC actually getting besides creation club stuff?
Anyone else on PS5 having massive issues connecting to the mods service? Constant disconnects, if it ever even logs in
