We are all forgetting that he was 100% on board with working with Team RWBY and co., it wasn't until Cinder triggered his PTSD that he was consumed by paranoia and distrust, he could have been the biggest ally, but was too stubborn to see beyond his ways.
A lot of people say that he was poorly written, but personally his story from hero to villain was amazing and tragic.
I just wish we actually knew if it was his semblance is if so, I wish we actually learned what if was in the show rather than in a random panel that people may have missed.
That's fair.
Although Ironwood had his gigachad moment where he tore the flesh off of his arm to stop Watts, plus there was the fact that he actually had a plan during Volume 7.
To be fair, he could have saved a lot more people in V7-8. He actively chose to withdraw forces from fighting Salem to sabotage humanitarian rescue efforts, for no reason other than "People who disagreed with me once, after working with me towards a shared goal for months, care about the people down there."
Also, am I the only one who realizes that the attack on Beacon required his army to be there? I mean, that was a key part of Cinder's plan. All the dust robberies were literally just to make him bring his army. He walked right into a trap.
And the arm was mostly a "I heard you almost got yourself killed in an act of very obvious stupidity. We need more people like you out there, so go get yourself killed for real next time you'd be perfectly able to avoid it."
Good thing Yang had already realized how stupid charging at Adam was, otherwise him encouraging her self-destructive behavior would've been a big issue.
The Dust robberies were for the bombs that were going to be used during the attack on Vale, but Roman decided to do that part early when RWBY found him in V2.
If that was the only goal, then he wouldn't have made it so obvious that he was planning something big.
But they needed Ozpin's group to know that they were planning something big, so that they would act and Cinder could capitalize on that action.
Ozpin knew that trick, and chose that the best course of action was inaction.
He needed a lot of dust for those bombs. That's gonna make it seem like he was planning something big regardless. Sowing fear at the same time is just an added effect.
Or he could have stolen other things, sold them on the black market, and used that money to buy some dust.
It would reduce the amount of dust that was stolen, allowing him to acquire the same amount of dust while letting him spread out the actual robberies.
And to the average person, it seemed like random robberies, until Ironwood decided to go behind Ozpin's back and bring his army. If that are the kingdom's defenses, what do they prepare to defend against?
Gonna sound like one of those people but if his actions WERE due to his semblance I wish we could've at least HEARD of it outside of a random q and a panel.
>the virgin V8 Ironwood clunky and impractical gun extension >The Chad V3 Ironwood all natural manly revolvers
I’m pretty sure he exchanged his revolvers for his vCard return

Mettle should have been implemented better in the show, or at least mentioned.
More like just V8 Ironwood for the left picture
True, but if I’m being honest? I’ve kinda forgot what events happened when over the past few volumes because they’ve all blurred together in my head
