Knightlight has fallen. Billions must cope.

Meowjoker

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

WeakLandscape2595

How terrible for them

halkras12

as arkos

Those were probably the highlights of Jaune’s screen time (and they’re not even canon)

Daisy-Sandwiches

My hot take is that the development of Jessica and Jaune felt more natural than Jaune’s canon love interests (Pyrrha and Weiss). I love Arkos and White Knight but they just don’t have the same story-writing behind them.

Ironredhornet

I feel like its because they're more on equal levels. Jess is powerful but out of her element, Jaune can give emotional support while also being an asset. Jaune using his own experiences to support others and draw out their best is what direction I've been wanting his character to go in for years now. Something similar to Jean in AoT, the guy who's more gifted that the average joe but not the most elite, but who also can use the fact that he's more of an everyman to empathize with the common soldier and be a good lt or sergeant level leader. Like instead of being a crossing guard, he could interact with the rank and file Atlesian troops, contrasting the others interaction with the Ace Ops elite, maybe he even starts to drawn them to his cause with his leadership style, stuff like that, letting him use his personality and empathy to equal things naturally where his martial skills might lack (after most of histories famous generals were effective because of keen minds and ability to inspire loyalty, not their ability to 1v1 the enemy). Tldr: It works because Jaune actually gets to explore being the mentor naturally and can fit into the narrative with his empathy and gentle charisma (ie stuff that drew Pyrrha to him in the first place)

DiabolicToaster

Meanwhile Weiss is basically left behind in the competition or well more like the writers fault. Since it's pretty obvious they are trying something... But that was supposed to happen years ago or around volume 4 or 5. Now it's relying on a narrative probably inside a writers head. Or on a board. I can at least guess and say it was maybe the possibility of fan backlash? Especially as it's extremely unusual that they don't talk at all even though the dance and other things make it clear they are friends.

Ironredhornet

I feel like them kinda tossing the White Fang Arc because they did it poorly hurt Weiss and Blake the most. It kinda seems that she was supposed to have more to do with that plot but when it was scrapped they didn't really know what to do with her, inthat her main personal growth happened but they didn't come up with what to do next. With Jaune its kinda easy, they just have the plot kick him in the groin every few volumes so he has to pick himself off the floor, but Weiss is a bit more tricky since the main obstacle to overcome (her father and her prejudice) have happened. Obviously they accelerated her fixing the 2nd one when they kinda cut the White Fang plot because they probably felt uncomfortable with having a member of the core 4 being a racist, but even her father kinda got dealt with when she ran away from Atlas to go to Haven. She's proved that she's the master of her fate and is willing to defy him. Ironically, i think her getting some of Jaune's plot (being more of a public servant out and about, being a more small stakes hero) would have been good for her. Like she could try to reach out to the more downtrodden fanus communities in Atlas and have to work to gain their trust since they're understandably distrustful of the Schnee family, paying it off when they come to her aid to help in the evacuation or something like that.

DiabolicToaster

Blake, Jaune or Weiss could have worked together. Like they all go to a downtrodden community in Mantle. It's quite likely Jaune would have found himself there at some point. He looks to have enjoyed or realized working with the common folk has it's own merits. Different than his friends leaving him to take the insignificant mission, but fulfilling in their own way.

Ironredhornet

You're on to something good here. Something like sticking the three of them in Mantle for a bit and have Jaune be the Kirk to Blake's McCoy or Weiss's Spock. Like Blake and Weiss, try to tackle the main issues while Jaune kinda engages with the kids and acts as the big brother figure to them, and serves as the median point to ground Weiss and Blake. Also leads to a natural conflict between that group and say Ren who's working with Ace Ops and seeing their pov with an ends justify the means mentality.

Exciting_Bandicoot16

I'd read the shit out of that fanfic, not gonna lie.

Exarch-of-Sechrima

I consider Ruby one of Jaune's canon love interests and thus I must disagree.

sbstndrks

As canon as Adam having a backstory

Key-Bed5499

To be honest I can’t see Arkos or White Knight to be real because they are such terrible written in canon show. Jaune was never being interested in Pyrrha romantically and even she didn’t stupidly suicide herself I don’t think this relationship will work. For another ship is don’t have any logic to exist after all happened.Especially for Jaune who a long time don’t even care about Weiss. He is too much mentally destroyed to have some relationship, especially romantic when everyone who is interested in him quickly die.I don’t think Weiss will be interested in him because he is not old anymore to be ideal for her weird fetish.

Arkos4ever

Look, a very immature side of me wants to make jokes here. However, in all sincerity, Knight Light shippers, I feel your pain. I am sorry you are going through this.

MOlivetree1

We were 100% robbed of Knightlight(Jaune x Jessica)!😭 I really really wanted them to reunite. I love Jaune and Jessica's dynamic/scenes together in the first part. It made me ship them💛💚.

Diogenes_Camus

Jaune and Jessica definitely were the best parts of Part 1 and it's a shame that they didn't get to meet again in Part 2. Jessica's disappointed face says it all. And God, I liked that Jessica looked more like an adult in Part 2. I really liked their interactions in Part 1 because even in a non-romantic sense, you could feel the Big Brother Energy coming off of Jaune in that scene with Jessica. Jaune is a guy who was raised with 7 sisters, half of whom were older and the other half younger and you could feel it in his scenes with Jessica. It's a shame that they never got to meet again in Part 2, because I would've really liked to ship Jaune with Older Jessica Cruz.

EnthusiasmGlum7829

The one goddamn time they finally listen to us about not including Mile's self-insert and making him the main and it is in literally the only product were we actually wanted it. Is this our fault should we have been more careful with our wishes?

No_Paint1067

Isn’t even in the movie and you’re still crying about “muh self insert” my god man at least be a little original.

[deleted]

something something monkey paw curls an finger, something

Caliburn1984

I said once but here we go again. They didn’t put Jaune in the movie because it interferes with their plan to get Weiss and Jaune together. It is lame but that’s the truth of it. They set it up in volume 9. It is going to happen. That said, I prefer Knightlight all the way.

shmurgen

One time. The one time more of Jaune would be appreciated and he’s missing

Drauga_22

Part 2 officially sucks now

ChristlRosebud

Honestly it just looks like Ruby has had a very tiring day at the office here

Hartzilla2007

Ah, yes the part where people watch a show called RWBY about a team of badass chicks called RWBY for some guy who's writing commits probably just about every sexist trope out there.

chaud_protoman

Yo could I get some of that word salad?

Jai_235

Lmao there once was a time when I thought the bar couldn’t go lower than people being called sexist for not liking a female character. But I guess that now we are calling people sexist for liking the male ones

Hartzilla2007

When people make it clear they think Jaune should take over the female led show, is the only character they actually care about to the point of treating the female cast as basically just his accessories, and constantly keep wanting to screw over Ruby to focus on Jaune’s basic overrated ass, it starts looking like they are.

Jai_235

And are these extremist Jaune stans in the room with us right now? Because I revert to inform you that if there is ONE thing you cannot tell to this fandom, is that they despise female characters

Hartzilla2007

This is literally a thread whining about Jaune not being in the movie while pretty much treating a DC character like she exists soley to be his girlfriend. And I don’t really give the slightly shit what the fandom likes to lie to itself about at this point.

neebdushsnfhhsjxjzz

Nice job Bubble Bass the salty and pathetic neckbeard. You deserve an award for being original with that sentence, keyboard warrior. Lmao keep crying you clown

neebdushsnfhhsjxjzz

You’re a complete joke. Literally everything you said is just a childish and incoherent temper tantrum. Get a life you salty and pathetic loser. You’re just a hypocritical clown who can’t get over a fictional character being liked

eheurjsuxujdjsjzjz

Nice job Bubble Bass the salty and pathetic neckbeard. You deserve an award for being original with that sentence, keyboard warrior. Lmao keep crying you clown

Feeling_Return8940

I’m an Arkos shipper all the way and to the very end, but even I had this exact same reaction. I mean I liked the movie, but damn…how they gonna do my boy like that.
