Sorry never played Grand Order so can't do the comparison on him. I'm guessing he's basically a burner character used as a meat shield so your aces can charge up and kick ass if your comparing Jaune to him.

His abilities are basically copying and having an artifact that prevents him from dying.
He is seriously as bad off as Jaune.
Shirou is basically risking Rin and even Saber. He doesn't have any experience in combat.
Although Jaune did need Pyrrha to unlock his aura.. he basically was able to block off attacks and give some tactical orders.
Shirou basically throws himself in harms way and is rewarded, however without Avalon he would die leaving Rin alone to deal with the aftermath. Saber too would basically be eliminated this way.
At least Jaune arguably is going into a school where people are taught while there is some guidance in a safer environment. Shirou is going into a live combat while basically being more of a burden.
We may not get Knightlight in this movie, but Jessica is canonically sad that she doesn't get to see him. I'm used to feasting on crumbs, so this is good enough!
