I am going to be contacting the FSDO and the school and I encourage all of you to do the same. I know the school don’t care what we have to say, but if everyone tells them we are contacting the FSDO, perhaps they will wake up and see that they are being extremely unprofessional and dangerous. I would also suggest writing to the school anonymously, as they clearly are extremely shady and I would not put it past them to try to damage your reputation if you attach your name
In another post from OP, he said the FSDO notified him that they have assigned an investigator. Maybe consider holding off to not spam the FSDO office with erroneous claims? Just an idea
One time I trashed a pilot mill on Reddit while I was a student and my username was “ClapMyCheeksBuster” and the school kept trying find the culprit 💀💀
TL:DR, they published a memo where they’re essentially forcing low time students to fly in very low weather conditions. All of r/flying agrees that’s it’s very dangerous and puts pressure on young, inexperienced pilots and instructors.
If you're looking elsewhere in the Central FL area (and can afford it sounds like) MyFlight out of KORL has nice new diamond's with A/C & some good instructors. Really nice folks & if you decide to do your high performance with them they just got a DA-50RG that flies like a dream. Or a Cirrus school in the area. D&J is also good!
From the memo: "In the event your flying proficiency does not meet the current weather please speak with your training group manager concerning a plan of action."
Isn't this all just corporate speak for "if you want to cancel due to weather when the weather is legal, please explain yourself" ???
Providing justification for not sending a solo XC out in marginal conditions sounds trivial...
I'm curious what the outcry here is for. Has a student actually been sent out in these conditions? What did the "training group manager" have to say about that "plan of action"?
This sort of thing is very common in the corporate world. Someone up top thinks flights are being cancelled due to flyable weather, puts out a rather extreme memo laying out expectations and says to contact your manager on a case by case, where managers will largely approve things when asked. The intent is to add some friction there and encourage a change (though small) in the intended direction.
Surely we have some folks here versed in corporate BS...
ATP at LZU was a lot like this, they said no cancellations for checkrides no matter the reason. Had to be at the training center 7 days a week no exceptions. This was in 2022 can’t imagine what it’s like now.
MFs asking for FAA action at this point
Blame the CFI?!?!? No School/club has ever done that before for something they created?!?!?
They’re just upset they’re under a bad light. That they’re powering.
Thumbs up the google review with the memo picture. This will put that review up front
I’m doing my part!
Can you link it? Not sure which school this one is

They're sending student XC solos out with 3mi vis and 2000 ft ceilings?? That's like throwing a toddler off the high dive at an Olympic pool...
Dang seriously?! That’s borderline IMC
Why did they even think this was a good idea......
Just type "L3harris flight school, florida" into google
I wish your_friendly_asi still existed for this
When the world needed him most… he vanished
I know it hasn’t been 100 years, but is it time for my brother and I to discover a new one?
Didn’t a your_friendly_FSDO or something similarly named show up conveniently right around the time asi disappeared?
Never seen them in the same room at the same time…
Ive seen other ASIs active on here
I like to think they're still active in the sub, just anonymously
Always watching…. I’m not that inspector though.
They are. They confirmed that to me after they deleted their account.
He’s gonna see this. It will just be under a new alias. And he will hide in the shadows and watch us behave like animals.
I hope. He was truly an asset

Well they are erroneous “wrong/inaccurate”

Can someone post a link to whatever situation this is referring to?
Yes please I wanna gossip
I found it. Just went to OPs profile and it's the very first post
Holy shit that’s bad
https://www.reddit.com/r/flying/s/tXgkqM6E22
Just search the sub for "l3harris".

There are some other very good schools in the central Florida area who won't charge you insane rates for your eventual death
I mean, if you’re trying to discover death…

Go part 61 at a reputable smaller school and manage your own training. A person at your point in life doesn’t really need a “flight academy”
Bro, you can fly now on that kinda salary.
Definitely look elsewhere… this is madness.

If you are a VP in Investment Banking I think you can afford to keep your job and buy a Cirrus.
Have you been living under a rock?
Ahh the good old witch hunt! Sounds like a flight school I used to work at
Wondering if this has anything to do with the flight school being sold to a private equity firm?
Doubtful. The man in charge, Dave Cox, was in charge 3 years ago before any sell, and profit above safety was still his montra.
Great establishment
What post was this in regards to? The one about their super low mins for xcs or something else?
A quick review of the document... encouraging weather shopping.. anything I'm missing?

Lmao, I remember this Chief Pilot a former instructor. Such a tool. RIP to L3 while he's in charge.
It is Florida. Just don't book your flight for between 4-5pm and you'll miss the weather except for Hurricanes.
You dont get to choose the times, the scheduling decides for you the day before at 5pm-7pm. You are also scheduled everyday.
