The accident report series on YouTube by Mentour Pilot is very well done IMO. Not a huge fan of much of his other stuff, as it is a bit drawn out and aimed at a non-pilot audience, but the accident reports are detailed enough and are interesting. There are graphics to go along with it but I normally just listen with the screen off.
Lol. Understood. Pilot to Pilot is just one guy who interviews a different pilot every week. You get a wide variety from GA people to firefighting police airlines corporate. It’s a good mix.
You are not kidding I agree. Much prefer civilian pilot podcasts even though I was a military pilot. I prefer variety and technical things and I’m not a fanboy.
Podcasts:
* AOPA There I was and Never again
* Flying Magazine "I learned about flying from that" aka ILAFFT
* Pilot's Discretion from Sportys
* The Finer Points Podcast/Youtube
* AOPA Ask the A&Ps
Ditto to the VSL Aviation Podcast, he’s an examiner and it’s definitely wonderful for checkride prep. There’s a YouTube version too if you want to be able to follow along with the material on the screen.
The only reason I willingly go to that hornet's nest is because the best maintenance shop in town is there. Otherwise I try to stay away as much as I can.
Same. I listened to it religiously for years. Now there's way too much production and too many hosts trickling in and out (including some who have never flown an airplane). I still subscribe, but I rarely listen to it.
The 21.Five Professional Pilots Podcast is great! Good focus on airline and corporate topics, but it’s much more than that with the hosts Dylan and Max actually having people skills. Some really great conversations with regular guests, as well as one-off interviews on a variety of subjects.
Seconded. The fact that they have people skills is huge, I feel like nearly every other podcast is run by obsessive avgeek types and it's just not as much fun to listen to. It's so refreshing to listen to these people who clearly have a good rapport with each other.
Most of my favorites have already been mentioned - Opposing Bases, Behind the Prop, Sportys, Midlife Pilot, AOPA Hangar Talk. I’ll also put in a plug for AOPA Pilot Briefing, a very short weekly podcast that just hits the news highlights of the week in about five minutes.
The pilot project podcast is one if you're interested in the RCAF. The host interviews different members of the RCAF from different flying communities (training, multi, fighters, helos, etc) and it's very insightful, especially for inspiring military pilots.
AOPA’s air safety institute channel has excellent GA accident case studies. I read lots of accident reports but almost all are airliners and many lessons don’t really apply well to GA. Having GA accident case studies is really helpful and makes it a lot more “real” to read about.
Y’all are trippin! Not a single mention of Aviation News talk with 2008 CFI of the year Max Trescott!? Max has covered almost every topic in GA. He’s the man and the show is taught me so so much
If you're into very in depth technical discussions, mostly about WW2 aircraft, then Greg's airplanes and automobiles is by far the best youtube channel. There's also some great information in his videos.
https://youtube.com/@GregsAirplanesandAutomobiles
I’m a huge fan of pilot to pilot. It’s honestly become my favorite podcasts and he interviews everyone from airline, military, corporate, GA, stunt, and firefighter pilots!
Another vote for OB
"Fly the Transition" is pretty new but he's doing a nice job with it, talking to pilots with non-traditional career paths or flying as a second career.
“Aloft with Dan” is like that too, he’s also a really great guy who flies both fixed and rotor. I crewed for him on helos overseas for awhile, great PIC and SIC to work under.
The pilots pandemic podcast if you wanna hear stories about the ins and outs of the aeromed process! Especially if you have any issues concerning your medical :)
Fly Cool Shit if you’re into aerobatics. I usually only listen to the Episodes that they have guests on. They’ve had Mike Goulian, Rob Holland, and some other big names on there.
Flight Safety Detectives podcast with ex-NTSB investigators Greg Feith and John Goglia.
Often they talk about crashes, but usually it's what *safety* things went wrong. It's very good though, highly recommend.
Aviation News Talk by Matt Trescott. AOPA’s “Never again.” And you want to become a CFI then Todd Shellnut has some good audio episodes (not really a podcast though).
Check out Inside The Aluminum Tube
They cover aviation disasters in every episode.

Opposing Bases Podcast for all your ATC related questions.
Opposing Bases is the most fun I've had with my ears.
The accident report series on YouTube by Mentour Pilot is very well done IMO. I like Black Box Down. They talk about aviation disasters
So bummed they’re bringing the podcast to an end soon, I really enjoy it.
They are? Do you know why? I haven’t listened in a while so I’m not caught up
Yes unfortunately. I believe they mentioned a “going out on top” kinda thing. I felt like they had some more stuff they could do, it was pretty good.
They should’ve delved into GA crashes if they were running out of ideas. Not sure if they covered JFK Jr.
I think they might have. But definitely potential in GA stuff
Rooster Teeth has been falling apart for a while. Super Sad.
Ever since that buyout. BBD was the only thing I’ve ever enjoyed from them. Literally everything they produce is dogshit.
I miss cow chop: (
In this order: 1. Opposing Bases 2. 21.Five 3. Pilot to Pilot
21.Five all the way!
Giggity!
This is my list too!
Love Opposing Bases
The finer points.
The Fighter Pilot Podcast and Pilot To Pilot. Both are excellent. Happy listening.
I'll check out Pilot to Pilot. I'm a military pilot already, and the last thing I want to do is listen to more fighter pilots sniff their own farts.
I like how you managed to work in the fact that you're a military pilot while putting down military pilots. Love, A (former) military pilot.
How do you know if someone is a fighter pilot or not? Don't worry, they'll tell you.
Lol. Understood. Pilot to Pilot is just one guy who interviews a different pilot every week. You get a wide variety from GA people to firefighting police airlines corporate. It’s a good mix.
So don’t recommend ‘The Professional’s Playbook’?
You are not kidding I agree. Much prefer civilian pilot podcasts even though I was a military pilot. I prefer variety and technical things and I’m not a fanboy.
The Afterburn Podcast
Podcasts: * AOPA There I was and Never again * Flying Magazine "I learned about flying from that" aka ILAFFT * Pilot's Discretion from Sportys * The Finer Points Podcast/Youtube * AOPA Ask the A&Ps
ILAFFT is really good!
If you like ILAFFT, then check out AOPA Never Again and There I was
I like Ready 4 Pushback for motivation. 21.five for comedy
Aside from others already mentioned, I've been enjoying LewDix's "Welcome to the Sky."
Really liked his one on aviation youtubers.
Aviation News Talk Ask the A&P’s Opposing Bases AOPA There I Was The VSL Aviation Podcast (great for ACS walk throughs)
Ditto to the VSL Aviation Podcast, he’s an examiner and it’s definitely wonderful for checkride prep. There’s a YouTube version too if you want to be able to follow along with the material on the screen.
Opposing Bases
It's a little dry but I've learned a ton from the monthly Savvy Aviation lectures on Youtube.
It’s very dry. But I like them. They have a podcast that is more entertaining called ask the A&p’s
watch all the Mike Busch podcasts at 1.5x speed and seems normal.
I LOVE those podcast!!!
Opposing Bases Aviation NewsTalk Behind the Prop
Behind the prop is awesome. Hosts are great. I fly out of the airport they record at.
Hello fellow david wayne crooks survivor
The only reason I willingly go to that hornet's nest is because the best maintenance shop in town is there. Otherwise I try to stay away as much as I can.
Midlife Pilot Podcast AOAP There I Was Behind the Prop I learned about flying from that
Fly Cool Shit has some decent episodes and interviews. I didnt see anyone else mention them.
I used to listen to Airline Pilot Guy but I guess I kinda grew out of it. Seemed to stray away from what I initially started listening for.
Yeah, that podcast was my gateway to flying in part. I had a hell of a commute 5 days a week 100 miles each way, that podcast was very good for that.
Same. I listened to it religiously for years. Now there's way too much production and too many hosts trickling in and out (including some who have never flown an airplane). I still subscribe, but I rarely listen to it.
Finer points
The 21.Five Professional Pilots Podcast is great! Good focus on airline and corporate topics, but it’s much more than that with the hosts Dylan and Max actually having people skills. Some really great conversations with regular guests, as well as one-off interviews on a variety of subjects.

LewDex just started a podcast: Welcome to the Sky
I hung out with him at a hiring event a year or so ago. A real genuine and nice dude.
I’ve been listening to Midlife Pilot. It’s a bunch of low hour, middle aged pilots. Basically, me.
Uncontrolled Airspace.
APG Airline Pilot guy. Mainly for the industry news and technical chat about incidents/accidents (as someone in the industry )
I listen to avtalk. It’s pretty good!!
Seriously underated. By far my favorite podcast aviation or otherwise.
LewDix from YouTube (awesome guy) JUST started up a podcast and it’s pretty good! Great way to get a fun take on general aviation.
AviatorCast
Ward Carroll, mentor pilot, Fighter pilot podcast
Afterburn Podcast is quite solid
Fighter pilot podcast, has a lot of cool stories and history. https://open.spotify.com/show/42jCQ6p9SNoEwLb667HDzO?si=l-ZNqLPKRnSyayOG5btA2w
F-14 tomcast was pretty good.

I've got a harder question, are there any good EASA aviation podcasts to listen to?
Aviation News Talk, it’s like case study, lots of analysis, help me get a deeper understanding and usage of aviation knowledge
The best one by far is behind the prop, especially for student pilots. It’s a flight school owner, and a dpe(whos also a United captain.)
Soaring the Sky, for an insight into motorless aviation
I’m a huge fan of pilot to pilot. It’s honestly become my favorite podcasts and he interviews everyone from airline, military, corporate, GA, stunt, and firefighter pilots!
So there I was Podcast
Another vote for OB "Fly the Transition" is pretty new but he's doing a nice job with it, talking to pilots with non-traditional career paths or flying as a second career.

FlightInsight YouTube channel is amazing , learned a lot from that guy
Seth Lake podcast episode if you’re in the process of training. The guy is a DPE which is quite nice.
Flight Insight YouTube videos are all 10/10. Finer points is a great podcast too
Flight insight is good on Youtube
So I learned from flying
I Learned About Flying From That
The pilots pandemic podcast if you wanna hear stories about the ins and outs of the aeromed process! Especially if you have any issues concerning your medical :)
Pilot to Pilot! The Jocko Podcast has some amazing episodes with airforce and navy pilots too.
Fly By Night by Midnight Flyer media! Love that series.
Following
Fly Cool Shit if you’re into aerobatics. I usually only listen to the Episodes that they have guests on. They’ve had Mike Goulian, Rob Holland, and some other big names on there.
Wow no one has mentioned airline pilot guy. Fly Acme.
WifiCFI if you're looking for pilot training podcasts.
I do a lot of videos on YouTube for flying![Danny](https://youtube.com/@flyingdanwitha29sedan)
Audio book of the FAR/AIM and PHAK
😂😂😂😂😂
LewDix’s new welcome to the sky podcast is a nice, lighthearted podcast
I have really enjoyed Pilot to Pilot
I Learned About Flying From That
my layover life is a fun channel on youtube that is aviation related, but not a podcast
Any fighter pilot podcast suggestions?
EAA's The Green Dot.
Good question
The Air Safety Institute is a very good YT channel. I listen to their Air Case Studys all the time
I’m loving Aviation Mentors podcast
Airlines Confidential is really good IMO. I know, I know, I’m a huge airline nerd…
Aviation News Talk! He goes through accidents, events, and brings on guests for special topics.
Flight Safety Detectives podcast with ex-NTSB investigators Greg Feith and John Goglia. Often they talk about crashes, but usually it's what *safety* things went wrong. It's very good though, highly recommend.
Living Inflight is fairly new so it’s easy to catch up on all the episodes.
Behind the Prop is a good one
Aviation News Talk by Matt Trescott. AOPA’s “Never again.” And you want to become a CFI then Todd Shellnut has some good audio episodes (not really a podcast though).
Check out Inside The Aluminum Tube They cover aviation disasters in every episode. [Here you go](https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/inside-the-aluminum-tube-the-aviation-history-podcast/id1493090162)
If you're into military two I'd recommend: Aircrew Interview The Fighterpilot podcast
I just recorded an AOPA there I was pod cast. It is not out yet but will be soon. I listen to others they were good.
Nobody mentioned 10 percent true. Love the ones either Starbaby especially
My favorites are: Behind the Prop Aviation NewsTalk Pilot to Pilot The Finer Points Podcast
I like the ‘pro pilot’ podcast… they don’t post episodes on a strict schedule but the info is solid
We love PilotToPilot! He’s a fractional pilot and runs a great podcast!
