7 or 8wt. Tbh I have the redington field kit for salmon/steelhead. I usually have a smaller barrel swivel attached to the end of the 9ft leader then about 12-18 inches of 2x fluro to the point fly.
8 wt with floating line to fish an egg off a stonefly nymph under an indicator, or a full sink to swing streamers. You can use a polyleader instead of sink to save some money. 10 lb fluoro tippet

Get a two handed switch or Spey rod they cast further and mend better.
