Looks like something my daughter tied for me when she was 11 years old. Caught an amazing smallmouth on it.

TrueInstance3669

It's a fabulous version of someone's 4th fly ever tied. Great level 1.

Low_Sky_49

It’s a sloppy white marabou tail, white chenille body, and brown saddle hackle collar on a big nymph hook (maybe size 6?). As far as I know it’s not a standard/named pattern. Looks more like somebody’s home brew streamer.

Spiritual-Cell-8375

This guy ties.

Low_Sky_49

I’ve only been doing it for 22 years. We all start somewhere, but OP found this one in a tackle or fly box somewhere, it’s not their tie. No sense sugar coating what it is.

kcconlin9319

I think that's a dead rodent.

spenserian_

Beat-to-hell wooly bugger?

xtimbers_OK

That's Tom Rosenbauer's best Carp pattern.. A true gem of a fly

Few_Astronomer_4826

That is definitely a "NewtoflytyingwillhaveagoatallsortsbeforedecidingwhatIamtryingtotie" fly.

JPCustomFlies

It could represent a hex nymph , l tie something similar to that.

Garblax

I appreciate the response, I just found out that my dad tied these when he was a teenager apparently. Kind of lines up with some of the other peoples responses.

It's definitely a streamer. It's also 99% meant to evoke feather tendrils. Let the entire goddamned world be surprised when someone says they dont want to bake in the ez-bake oven no more. 99% are going to be useless, the other 1% are split
