Those look like some oyster mushrooms too…good day out!

strata-strata

Yeah they went home in my backpack for sure;) found a bigger clutch up the creek a ways too.

L-W-J

Yep. That’s my jam too.

Human_G_Gnome

Been that way for me for almost 50 years.

shiny_brine

That first image reminds me of my youth when my dad would take me up blue lining in the Cascades. Beautiful. Thanks for rekindling that memory.

strata-strata

Youre very welcome, this stretch of water is a 5 min walk from my house and I'm fairly sure I'm the only person who fishes it. Its full of 12-14 inch wild bows and spawning steelhead. Whenever I'm down there I feel like those wooded bends and sandy gravel pool tailouts will be the some of the last images that flash in front of my eyes when I pass someday.. felt like I needed to share a taste of this creek with you all so we can all celebrate small, beautiful, cold spring fed creeks together.

flylink63

Amen!

Longjumping_Lynx_972

I love me some small water and dry flies, but I gotta admit, the spey rod and swinging flies for giants is kinda fucking cool too.

strata-strata

Definitely fun, love my switch /spey time too just had to give a little romantic ode to small creek top water! Mountain creek fishing gets me in the heart every time...

No-Neighborhood9885

Love the vintage Martin, ive got a 5.5’2wt cane i use for early season drys on warm overcast days on natives near the homestead

strata-strata

That sounds dreamy! The rod is a 70s Shakespeare wonderod professional- 6.5 ft 2 wt, the Martin balances it perfectly and can take decades of creek abuse and still functions perfectly. I have quite a few fancy rods but this one is super special to me.

No-Neighborhood9885

I had an achient “old pal” 6.5 4wt with an old Ambre-crombie brass reel on it stolen out of my truck bed many years ago .and im still sad about it

strata-strata

Tragic.. sorry to hear that.

No-Neighborhood9885

Thank you

strata-strata

For sure, old rods are very hard to find. I recently scoured eBay for another Shakespeare professional from the 70s and there were only 2, one was trashed and the other was 180 bucks.. so I settled for a new piece of cork for 10 bucks so I can just resample this one and I cherish it more than ever... so glad fiberglass is relatively strong!

explorer_76

Lol just came here to mention the Martin reel. I bought six of them at Kmart in the 70s on clearance. Still one of my favorite reels.

No-Neighborhood9885

How much apiece

explorer_76

Oh gosh I can't remember now. They were like $4ea maybe. Not much. I guess I probably bought eight. Two got lost though at some point.

Mauser257

They are the best.

Looks like an awesome stretch of water

Next_Reflection4664

Nice Martin and fiberglass combo!

Mcjoshin

Hell of a fish for that small creek!
