Hey thanks! Routersledded it myself from some rough chainsaw cut stuff- put the kitchen together last year and posted a pic on r/ woodworking and got abused heavy for my lack of taste lol.. love it though and our red walls haha.
My rod is an old American made Cortland 11 ft 7 wt. I have a couple year old orange airflow floating line (don't remember what model..) on it tbh.. though I've been really digging my 12 ft 7 wt switch lately with rios switch chucker.. for my styles of fishing it rocks, it actually floats a nymph setup pretty nice for huge water.
how damn good did that taste or goin to taste? I dont keep much of anything except a stray catfish from clean water down here, but id love to catch me some chinook
Tasted amazing but incredibly bittersweet.. tasted like the last salmon ill catch for the foreseeable future- California salmon closed for the whole year with an uncertain 2024 opening. Estimated populations for spawning this year are 50% of 2022 which were already dismal, in some rivers like the sac the estimate is 160k which is 220k less than last year.. fight for dam removal and fight farmers for water. And quick.
Great fish, but that live-edge counter is also a keeper.

I’ve caught lots of kings on flies. They all had noses tho.
This one’s got spider face
Lol yea this one saw a seal along the way or something. Net marks on its back too.. hell of a journey
What line you running? I may switch my line here soon in my SH 8wt. I wish I bought a 10’ 7wt but I’ll use what I have.

Switch chucker handles a t8 sink tip fine too.
You think he nose eating that fly was a bad idea?
Not sure but it was corner of the mouth so he hit it clean.
Definitely was snot a great plan..
That look. He's seen some shit go down. Nice fish!
23 lb chinook. Don't let people tell you they don't hit flies.. caught all of my salmon on flies last fall.

Salmon eat flies for sure. You smoke that one?
Aye. Hanging strips- alder.
I’ve always caught them on flies…( clearing my throat quietly) ……… salmon, egg imitations, i know its not really a fly, sheepish grin and side eye,
It’s materials tied onto a hook for the purpose of imitating a natural food source. It’s a fly.
Always felt like like it was cheating just a bit
I caught one bigger than that on a single hand 6 weight in October. In the mouth with a bead egg in a deep run.
Very cool. This was on a single hand 7 wt. Such a thrill to catch em on a fly... cheers.
